Amaya 11.4.7

Thu, 14 May 2015 11:01:35 GMT

W3C's Editor/Browser Amaya is a Web editor, i.e. a tool used to create and update documents directly on the Web. Browsing features are seamlessly integrated with the editing and remote access features in a uniform environment. This follows the original vision of the Web as a space for collaboration and not just a one-way publishing medium. Work on Amaya started at W3C in 1996 to showcase Web technologies in a fully-featured Web client. The main motivation for developing Amaya was to provide a framework that can integrate as many W3C technologies as possible. It is used to demonstrate these technologies in action while taking advantage of their combination in a single, consistent environment. Amaya started as an HTML + CSS style sheets editor. Since that time it was extended to support XML and an increasing number of XML applications such as the XHTML family, MathML, and SVG. It allows all those vocabularies to be edited simultaneously in compound documents. Amaya includes a collaborative annotation application based on Resource Description Framework (RDF), XLink, and XPointer. Visit the Annotea project home page. Amaya - Open Source Amaya is an open source software project hosted by W3C. You are invited to contribute in many forms (documentation, translation, writing code, fixing bugs, porting to other platforms...). The Amaya software is written in C and is available for Windows, Unix platforms and MacOS X. New Features: · CSS: Support of z-index, opacity, SVG fill-rule, stop-opacity and stop-color properties · SVG: Implentation of linear gradients · When the remote Save of a web page fails, Amaya proposes to keep a local copy of the edited page · Publishing: Local resources attached to a remote document are now saved with the document · A new button at the bottom allows one to lock/unlock WebDAV resources Current Release Amaya 11.4.4: It supports HTML 4.01, XHTML 1.0, XHTML Basic, XHTML 1.1, HTTP 1.1, MathML 2.0, many CSS 2 features, and SVG. It now includes a SVG editor (for a subset of the language). You can display and partially edit XML documents. It's an internationalized application. It provides an advanced user interface with contextual menus, a customizable set of menus and tools, predefined themes. Distributions are available for Linux, Windows and now MacOS X PowerPC and Intel. This version provides a template support partly funded by the 6th Framework Programme of the European Commission as part of the Palette project. Highlights: * Free to use * WYSIWYG interface * Not as limiting as many WYSIWYG apps * Supports XML and all W3 standards

RSSOwl - Powerful RSS / RDF / Atom News Feed Reader 2.2.1

Tue, 31 Dec 2013 23:05:58 GMT

RSSOwl is a free RSS / RDF / Atom Newsreader in Java using SWT as fast graphic library. RSS ("Really Simple Syndication" or "Rich Site Summary") is a document specification that gives users the power to collect and organize Web-based news and information in a more efficient manner. Applications that collect data from RSS-compliant sites are called RSS readers or "aggregators". RSSOwl is such an application. It lets you gather, organize, update, and store information from any compliant source in a convenient, easy to use interface, save selected information in various formats for offline viewing and sharing, and much more. Why "Owl"? The owl is a traditional symbol of wisdom, and a quiet, efficient hunter. You'll find RSSOwl's "big eyes" a big help when scanning the Web's vast array of RSS resources. RSSOwl runs on Windows, Mac, Linux and Solaris. Some of the cool features are powerful searches, embedded browser, tray notifications, clean-up wizard and complete user customization. RSSOwl requires no installation, simply start it with a doubleclick and find a huge list of sample feeds already provided. You can also easily import existing feeds from other readers into RSSOwl using the popular OPML format. An integrated update manager keeps the application up to date and provides extra add-ons, e.g. to read your favorite newsgroups inside RSSOwl as if they where newsfeeds. All data is stored in a single directory that can be put on a USB stick, making RSSOwl a cross platform portable application that is easy to use and manage.
