Monkeys Go Home!

Updated: 2018-01-17T19:53:41.743-08:00

Hey! Go check out my new website- !

Triumphant Return!

It's been so busy around here. Lots of travel, lots of getting work made for shows, plus there was Charlie's three week business trip to India (I stayed home. Flights to India are expensive).

But! I am hoping to get this internet thing back down. Post more often. Right now I'm just popping in to say hi quickly (Photo editing! More travel for which I have packing and preparation! Laundry to fold! And dinner to make!) before I get back to work. But I wanted to show a little preview of my upcoming shop update (For real this time!).

A few months ago I started tinkering with making felt jewelry versions on my work. They've turned out pretty well, and they'll be available for sale this coming Monday! And if you like these ones, click my flickr badge at right to see a whole bunch more.

And if you're in Seattle this weekend, stop by the Plush You! show and say hi. I'll be there, and my work will be up at Nancy.

Three things I have done today:
Repotted some seedlings in my patio garden. We now have, among other plants, seven different tomato varieties! Pictured is the Black Krim, which is already covered with fruit.

Worked on some toys. They aren't all visible in the picture, but there are five sets of bird legs and seven bird faces awaiting bodies on my desk. This is leading up to what will be the first update to my online store in a billion years. Soon!
Worked on x-mas knitting. I'm starting early this year. Really early. I'm about a quarter of the way done with project number one, and it's looking good.

On the schedule for tomorrow- voting, dinner at my favorite Peruvian restaurant, and turning thirty.

Felty New Year!

Happy New Year! New comics are coming soon, but while I get them ready to post, enjoy the first thing I've ever needle felted! Finished just a few minutes ago, it looks very dramatic and a bit sinister. But only in the photo. This is what happens when you're eager to share a new project, and it's already dark out and you have to use a flash.

Off to watch the end of Tremors 4!

And as an added bonus, here's a link to that inchworm video (don't worry, it's very short)

Cartoon pending

Cartoon coming tomorrow morning, because oh my god what a day. Good day, except for the two lamps we broke, but very, very busy.

Today I'm a little light on awesome, cartoon-wise, because I'm so excited about the wheel that it's hard to stop spinning to get drawing done.

One day, I will master the fine art of sleeping, and I won't be so tired.

For the curious, my necklace is a wee little bird, and I'm drinking orange juice. Now off to put the finishing touches on dinner (braised fennel, chicken sausages).

I like how this turned out, except for the picture of Charlie, which turned out so badly it nearly ruins the rest of it. It looks more like Nicholas Cage than it does Charlie. Now I'm all grumpy about it, and cursing my lack of white-out, and the unlikely-hood that I would use it even if I had it.

And I've successfully blogged every day in November! Go me! And more importantly, I started doing this day in pictures thing, and I'm totally digging it. I've tried, off and on since childhood, to keep a daily journal. And I always kind of sucked at it. I can't believe it took me this long to realize that since I'm such a visual person, perhaps incorporating visuals would be a way to make the activity enjoyable for me. I think I'm going to keep going.

That said, rest assured that photos of toys and paintings and my pets are coming back, along with more recipes. Their absence the past two weeks had nothing to do with all the drawing, and everything to do with being super crazy busy. Perhaps tomorrow, a day in pictures and a toy in progress.

Lazy Sunday. Lazy lazy lazy Sunday. Very much needed. Back to getting things done tomorrow.

Don't get the impression that I didn't have fun at the Huntington today, because I totally did. It was awesome! I just had to step outside of some of the indoor stuff because of the crowds. I have some auditory processing issues in crowds.

My kitchen is now completely gorgeous. And I am completely exhausted. But happy. Very, very happy, and looking forward to awesome family time tomorrow.

Seriously. So much cleaning the kitchen, and I'm not even done yet. But it's starting to look pretty awesome. Although my hands are feeling all sore and bleach-y.

And now I'm so tired I'll be proud of myself if I make it to ten pm.

Drawn while chatting with Charlie and Dan about cameras and samurai. The photo (I need a new scanner. Hopefully soon) is a little crooked, but I'm in a hurry to get to that movie. Maybe I'll put up a non-crooked version later?
