Comment on Mediawiki is not for enterprise by Richard Kernick

@Carst: Last I looked (some time now) Telligent doesn't have a wiki component, just blogs/forum/photo gallery. Therefore, for KM I'd say No. Actually, my rouge blog that I set up inside my company uses Community Server. The official ones run on Notes Domino. @random ape: Before embarking any further check the date of the post. I stand by my conclusion, which is founded firstly on the fact that the VAST MAJORITY of people in an enterprise will not be able to use wiki markup; and secondly that a large organisation will require a self-service ability to create new 'spaces'.

Ross is right. That Sharepoint wiki is awful. HTML comments pasted into the wiki input field are destroyed upon save. I think thats reason enough to avoid the Sharepoint implementation. Aside from that, are you trying to use a Wiki for something in which it was not intended? Wiki != CMS != Blog. To summarily state that MediaWiki isn't ready for enterprise (hello. wikipedia) simply based on the current look and feel of the editor is subjective at best. I prefer brunettes, but I wouldn't pass on a nice girl simply because shes blonde.

Do you have any thoughts on the Telligent Community Server regarding the concept of knowledge and knowledge management for organizations?

Hi Can someone describe how you configure PHP to support LDAP? i followed the instruction from http://us3.php.net/ldap, but it didn’t work. The operating system is Windows server 2000. I created the path in windows environment variables, copied php_ldap, libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll to system32, restart the apache. But still got the blank page! Can someone please help me? Thanks

I'm living in France. I'm working for IT consulting company in web technologies.I was trying to fing a weblog engine and I discovered your blog. I read your first paper and I really think that you summarised my way of thinking regarding my children education principles (yes, I still have ones !). Just try to do the best in what you are the best. And also, just feel happy with what you did. I will certainly continue to read your blog contents... have a nice day. ChD.

Amazingly enough, Max isn't supported on Vista right now. The Max developers blogged about it somewhere (or commented on someone else's blog) that they had it running internally on Vista, but didn't have time to test it more formally before this release. So - you need to try it on XP (and I'm assuming you were trying it out on one of the Vista beta or RC builds)

[...] I blogged that Max might be a good RSS Reader when Vista comes along. I finally tried it out. It requires .Net 3, so I installed that, rebooted, installed Max and Max complained that my version of .Net 3 was too new! So I removed .Net 3, allowed Max to install .Net 3, rebooted and fired up Max - it didn’t work! Anyone had more success? Posted by Richard Kernick Filed in General, vista, RSS [...]

Comment on Using LDAPAuthentication.php with AD on IIS by thomas

Thu, 12 Oct 2006 04:15:12 +0000

I got this working, but first time a user logs in (the user exists in LDAP, but not in the mediawiki user table), I get Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /opt/mediawiki/includes/SpecialUserlogin.php on line 314 Next time that person logs in, it works. I've verified this by removing the user from user table in mediawiki, and the error comes up again. Has anyone else had this problem? I've read some of the code, but can't say I get everything! :) /Thomas
