Greetings fellow dance music lovers. Winter is upon us - as power bills rise and woodpiles diminish, do not fear as Empathy Recordings has another log to throw on your fire. You may remember Empathy’s latest release EMPD008
‘The Empathy Digital EP 2009'. This collection of quality tunes showcasing the talents of our current artists featured a stormer of a breaks number entitled: ‘Vegas’- produced by label stalwarts Double_Negative. Since its release, the brooding monster that is Vegas has rocked both radio waves and dance floors alike.

Empathy is now excited to announce the release of EMPD009 the ‘Vegas Remix EP’.

Still going strong after seven years, Empathy has made some great friends and released some super-talented artists. Spanning a variety of dance genres - Empathy has notched up several quality releases on its belt and been a staple for dance music enthusiasts, from New Zealand and abroad.

Feeling super chuffed with ourselves - we decided to celebrate by asking some of the best talents we’ve had the pleasure of releasing to remix Double_Negative’s ‘Vegas’. The result is an irresistible assortment of tunes in every colour of the dance genre rainbow from Drum n Bass to Dubstep, Breaks/Electro to Glitch.

WARNING: This EP contains HUGE remixes from the likes of Johnny Hooves, White Papoo, Opiuo, Undertow, Flirt with Dirt, Organikismness and Mars.

KODE 9 - The Aftermath...

Massive thanks to everyone who made it to Kode 9 on Wed 1 July...without a doubt it was the most incredible set i've personally witnessed in a long long time. Kode rinsed us through broken beat, to hip hop, to seamlessly blending all flavours of dubstep and finally finishing on some OG jungle. It really had to be witnessed first hand and if you missed out well....your basically a sucker and will have to wait for another substantial amount of time before he graces our shores once again!

Big thanks to Finn, Booof, Wigs, Gus, Red Bull, Will and Cosmic Corner for making it all happen. This was the last gig i'll be promoting for a while as i'm going to be focusing on blambox audio releases and producing in general til the end of the year :)

The Others are D-Code and DeXterous, hailing from North West and West London respectively, met at the world famous Vestax DJ Academy at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, where they instantly clicked due to their musical tastes. D-Code came from a Dark Garage, Jungle and Drum & Bass background whilst DeXterous followed Dubstep from its roots of UK Garage.

After getting in the studio to produce their first track together (Killer Bees, October 2005), it was later picked up by DJ Wonder who gave it huge support on London’s leading pirate radio station Rinse FM and at events such as the legendary FWD. After the success of their first track they decided to pursue their productions together and made some more material, which began to attract notice from some of the scenes most respected artists as they started to shape and mould their own unique sound.

After more work in the studio with tracks championed by the likes of N-Type, Caspa & Rusko, Joe Nice (USA) and Hatcha, on radio stations such as Kiss 100, BBC 1Xtra, Rinse FM, Sub FM and at events such as FWD in Shoreditch, Sub Dub in Leeds and the mighty DMZ in Brixton. They were then signed up to Dub Police with a 3 track EP: Africa, Flapjack Dub & Bushido – released in March 2007, which was highly successful and extended their fan base.

After hearing Caspa playing ‘Freakshow’ at FWD, Youngsta then contacted The Others to sign it to the legendary Tempa, sharing wax with the likes of Benga, Rusko & Martyn to make up Vol.4 of the Tempa Allstars series.

Fast forward to 2008 with a string of successful releases (including fan favorite ‘Funhouse’ on Dub Police) and appearances on popular mix compilations ‘Dubstep Allstars Vol.5’ mixed by N-type and ‘Fabric Live 37” mixed by Caspa & Rusko also forthcoming releases on Dub Police, Boka, Veri Lo and other highly respected dubstep labels, as well as appearances at events across the globe and airplay from Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC Radio 1 – The Others show no signs of slowing down!
