There was so much tension between the light and dark in this one. I tried to concentrate on how life-affirming creativity is and how necessary it is to get a person through the bad times. I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Stefanie.

The father was larger than life wasn't he? I loved his eccentricity but could understand why the family ignored him. I think they just didn't understand him. And wasn't it so sad when Adela drove out the birds from and he tried to fly away as well.

I see some sadness in the book, but mostly I feel the awe for life, the mystery of the life-force sprouting everywhere. It's a very difficult book to write about.
