By the way, I voted to eat the chicken. That should go without saying, and I'm sure you had no doubt that this was how I would vote, but I wanted to erase any doubt.

"It's not just that the vast majority of American Jews would eat the chicken, it's that the majority of American Jews would have no clue what this post is about." I, too, took a poll--at home. (Needless to say, it was a small sample. :) ) It turns out that half the sample didn't know about the prohibition against eating meat until his early thirties, while the other half didn't know until her mid-twenties. If the two of us are any indication of "the vast majority of American Jews," I fear that the Bean has scored a hit. :(

As for Dr. Bean's offer of yetzer hara topics, tell the good doctor to be good. :)

also remember that Sefardim hold by only "the week that Tish‘a B’Av falls in", and not the 9 Days from Rosh Hhodesh.

I like the idea too.

I also like the "Forbidden Chicken" thing, and saddened that the blog address is already taken :(

Boy, you've got a pretty frummy readership. It's not just that the vast majority of American Jews would eat the chicken, it's that the majority of American Jews would have no clue what this post is about.

I like the idea of an occasional "inclination to do bad" poll. You should make it a recurring thing. Let me know if you need topics!

If you close your eyes, it tastes just like chicken.

Well, it's fine to serve meat, especially if many of your customers aren't Jewish.

But why would you send meat to me? The only reason these people ordered from them was for my benefit? And they obviously knew about the nine days, or they wouldn't have sent the fish along.

I'm not sure why they would send a meat meal over during the nine days, but I guess I should be grateful that they sent me the fish. But the chicken looked much better.

I think in the "old days", Miriam, chicken was not considered meat. Not sure when that changed halachicly.

I feel like I'm misunderstanding the Q here... but I went with the fish. (Unless you meant it was on the same tray?)

Who decided chicken was meat? Doesn't it seem more like fish than meat? (Irrelevant, I know, but I've always wondered.)
