Rejoicing in the Truth

Mon, 22 Jan 2018 09:46 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Rejoicing in the Truth
Subtitle: 2 John
Speaker: Damien Garofalo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 1/21/2018
Bible: 2 John
Length: 46 min. (64kbps)

Overview: The joy of truth is the spirit of John-s Second Epistle. Though much of the material overlaps with his first letter, the emphasis on rejoicing in truth stands out in the first few verses. Indeed, the epistle contains warnings against false teachers. But we do not start with a defensive or negative posture- rather, in our quest to see the truth of Christ exalted, we begin with a heart that is so captivated by the glorious truth of the gospel, that anything less or anything contrary is automatically spurned. Our hatred for every false way should be a natural outgrowth of our love for what is true.----As we prepare for our brief time in 2 John, let us ask the Lord to search our hearts and reveal our real attitudes toward the truth. Is truth something we use to win arguments, or is it something that has won our hearts- Is truth something we enjoy telling people to obey, or is it really our delight to walk in truth- Does hearing truth conjure up judgmental attitudes about others or does it cause us to rejoice in God- Brethren, let us remain diligent in our study of truth and vigilant in our defense of it, but most of all, let us rejoice in the truth and in knowing the Truth-Giver-

The Church's Call to Mustard-Seed Faith

Mon, 15 Jan 2018 02:10 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: The Church's Call to Mustard-Seed Faith
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 1/14/2018
Bible: Matthew 17:9-23
Length: 52 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Faced with a demon-possessed boy, Jesus teaches that if the disciples had but a small amount of faith, nothing would be impossible for them -17-20-. There is one reason that God-s people are not walking an overcoming, victorious walk- there is one reason that God-s people are not serving one another in love- there is one reason that Christians are not living as we ought - it is faithlessness. The good news though is that we can accomplish great things with even the smallest measure of faith. This is where we find the answer to our inability. The Father-s command in verse 5- -Listen to Him,- necessitates obedience, and obedience requires faith. May we exercise our mustard seed of faith to obey the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Ten Commandments

Sun, 7 Jan 2018 21:21 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: The Ten Commandments
Subtitle: Exodus 20
Speaker: Jim Montesano
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 1/7/2018
Bible: Exodus 20
Length: 58 min. (64kbps)

Overview: In His glorious covenant with Abraham, the Lord promised that He would make Abraham a blessing to many nations -Genesis 12- and also that Abraham would- a- have an heir, b- his descendants would be as numerous as the stars, and c- they would inherit the land of Canaan -Genesis 15-. Today in hindsight and with the progressive nature of revelation, we can see how all of these promises have come to pass, but the fulfillment was not as evident at the time Moses wrote Exodus. Abraham had an heir and his descendants were many, but they were bound in slavery in Egypt. The Lord miraculously set them free from their bondage and is bringing them into the Promised Land. On this journey they are called to the very mountain on which the Lord spoke to Moses in chapter 3. In what is truly an epic event within Exodus and all of the Old Testament, the Lord will again speak- this time not only to Moses, but to all the people of Israel. In our text and the verses that follow, God gives what is known as the Mosaic Law. It is a covenant that God made with Israel.----We-ll open up our text with first looking at the giver of the Law who is none other than Yahweh- Then in verses 3-17 we will see how the Law reveals certain attributes of the Lord Himself- Finally we will find Israel-s reply after receiving the law. Israel already answered Moses and said, -All that the Lord commands we will do- -Exodus 19-8- and will affirm this again in Exodus 24-3. But of course, they could not keep their word.----Why could Israel not do as they said they would- Was there a problem with the Law- No- it was with the people-s heart. They needed the Law written afresh on their hearts -Deuteronomy 30-6-8-.

The Triumphant Messiah

Mon, 25 Dec 2017 04:33 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: The Triumphant Messiah
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 12/24/2017
Bible: Matthew 17:1-8
Length: 49 min. (64kbps)

Overview: In order to encourage His disciples in the midst of his teaching about suffering, Jesus promised His disciples that, -there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom- -Mt 16-28-. Many find the answer to this promise in what takes place six days later when Jesus would take Peter, James, and John to a high mountain to be transfigured before them -17-1-2-. These disciples witnessed Jesus Christ in all of His past and future glory, in the very form that He would occupy for all eternity after His resurrection. With the transfigured Jesus were the two great figures of the Old Testament- Moses -representing the law- and Elijah -the prophets-.----There are a number of things that we can learn from this momentous event. We see the continuity of the Old and New Testaments in the friendly conversation of Jesus with Moses and Elijah- we also find, however, the supremacy of Jesus Christ as the Beloved Son of God, who is more than a mere prophet like Elijah and who fulfills the Law of Moses. We also see our sinful human tendency to memorialize events with something physical. And we find that Jesus alone is the final authority whom we are called to obey. The transfiguration also gave the disciples a hopeful glimpse of the future triumph of Christ and the restoration of His glory after He would suffer and die.

We Know that We are from God

Mon, 18 Dec 2017 04:03 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: We Know that We are from God
Subtitle: 1 John
Speaker: Damien Garofalo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 12/17/2017
Bible: 1 John 5:16-21
Length: 48 min. (64kbps)

Overview: It is true that -the whole world lies in the power of the evil one- -v19b-. John, of course, does not deny God-s sovereignty by making this statement. Rather, he is making a sharp distinction- we are from God whereas the world places itself under Satan-s dominion. This truth remind us of many things when all seems hopeless- 1. The world -that is, unbelievers- believes lies, sins, and hates truth because it is the world, 2. Sinners do what they do because they are under satanic power and need to be rescued, 3. We are citizens of an entirely different kingdom, with a different King, and therefore we behave differently, and 4. God is greater than the wicked one and will be vindicated.----When the actions and proclamations of the world discourage you, remember two basic truths- 1. Consider who the world is and 2. Consider who we are - we belong to God-

The Suffering Messiah

Mon, 4 Dec 2017 03:03 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: The Suffering Messiah
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 12/3/2017
Bible: Matthew 16:20-28
Length: 56 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Jesus took this first revelation of His own suffering as an opportunity to teach the disciples about living a life of self-denial and even death to self- in verse 24 He said, -If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.- For a disciple, to follow his teacher meant that he would live and die as his Rabbi did. So as Jesus did not live for himself, the call to discipleship involves repudiating every link that ties us to ourselves-in the words of one commentator, -obliterating self as the dominant principle of life in order to make God that principle.- To -take up one-s cross- unquestionably pointed to the humiliating practice of a condemned criminal carrying the very instrument of his own execution, through the streets, bearing the shame of onlookers, ultimately to his death. Ironically Jesus tells us that this is the only way to find true life. If our own physical well-being is the dominant principle of life, we will end up losing our lives. Practically speaking, this means that self-interest ends up killing us, while living for God and others results in real life.

The Testimony of God

Event: Sunday Service
Date: 11/19/2017
Bible: 1 John 5:6-15
Length: 45 min. (64kbps)

Overview: As we wrap up our series in the First Epistle of John, we find ourselves back where we started - chapter 5. In these final words, John emphasizes the purpose of the book - that those who believe on the Son of God may know they have eternal life -1 John 5-13-. We have therefore concluded, along with a multitude of commentators and preachers, that the primary intention of John-s first epistle is to provide believers with assurance.

The Aweful and Powerful Presence of the Lord

Sun, 5 Nov 2017 20:05 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: The Aweful and Powerful Presence of the Lord
Subtitle: Exodus 19
Speaker: Jim Montesano
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 11/5/2017
Bible: Exodus 19:16-25
Length: 39 min. (64kbps)

Overview: The Lord declared that Israel would worship Him on the very mountain where God had spoken to Moses in chapter 3. Israel has been brought to the mountain of God and has been there three days. They have been set apart for these three days to prepare to meet the Lord. Our text opens with the Lord-s presence displayed on the mountain. 16 Then it came to pass on the third day, in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain- and the sound of the trumpet was very loud, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled. 18 Now Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke because the Lord had descended on it in fire. The smoke of it went up like the smoke of a kiln, and the whole mountain trembled greatly.19 And as the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him in thunder. 20 The Lord came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.----As the Lord descends upon the mountain, the natural is supernaturally transformed. Can we imagine what it would have been like to witness this powerful and aweful presence of the Lord on this third day on Mount Sinai- The skies begin to come alive with thunders and lightnings- A thick cloud envelops the mountain- The sound of the trumpet blows and gets louder and louder- The scene is described further in verse 18 as the mountain is likened to a great furnace with smoke billowing about as the mountain itself trembles-

Solus Christus

Tue, 31 Oct 2017 03:43 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Solus Christus
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 10/29/2017
Bible: Matthew 16:1-12
Length: 47 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Throughout the history of the visible church, one of the most subtle ways that Christ has been most robbed of His centrality and glory, is by sign-seeking. Instead we are told that the only sign necessary is -the sign of Jonah,- which is Christ, his death and resurrection -the Gospel-. Doubt will never be overcome by signs and wonders but will only be conquered by Christ alone. Despite this fact, the professing people of God often still want something more than -just Jesus.- Manifested in different ways -from mysticism to legalism to contemplative spirituality to holiness and spiritual warfare movements-, this sensationalism is deeply rooted in many Christian movements not satisfied with simple faith in Christ alone. In varied ways false teachers continue to leaven the Gospel by teaching that simple faith in the Biblical Gospel of Christ alone is merely -elementary teaching,- or -milk not meat.- You need to ever be watchful for such leaven, for even a little doctrinal leaven is a dangerous thing. Ironically, when men teach you to desire -more of Christ,- they may be in danger of adding to the simplicity of Christ alone, and thus perverting the Gospel.----Solus Christus teaches us that all else to the left or right of Christ alone are demoted in the light of His Person and work. This is what Peter confesses in chapter 16 and is illustrated at the Mount of transfiguration in chapter 17. Christ alone will always be necessary, sufficient, and complete. All other ground is sinking sand.

Sola Gratia

Mon, 23 Oct 2017 03:38 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Sola Gratia
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 10/22/2017
Bible: Matthew 15:29-39
Length: 46 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Time and again in the Gospel accounts, no sooner are the sick laid at Jesus- feet than, in compassionate grace, He reaches out and heals them. With their loved ones healed, the crowds happily stay with Jesus and hear Him teaching for three days, glorifying God as they do. But while man does not live by bread alone, neither does he live without bread at all, and after three days, these happy people were likely beginning to starve. So again in compassionate grace, Jesus again uses His faithless disciples to multiply and distribute a mere -seven loaves and a few fish,- to fully satisfy a crowd of upwards of 10,000 people, with a huge supply of leftovers-----In both the healing of great crowds, as well as the feeding of the four-thousand, we find the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ demonstrated. In both of the stories in our text, Jesus saves, heals, and provides on the basis of grace alone, apart from all merit on the part of both those receiving the benefits of grace and those being used as a means of grace.----The grace of God is no more clearly revealed than in the salvation of God-s elect, where according to Romans 5-8, -God demonstrates his own love for us in this- While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.- Sola Gratia is important because it accurately conveys the fact that God saves people because of His mercy and goodness and not because of anything that makes them desirable to God or worthy to be saved.

Soli Deo Gloria

Mon, 16 Oct 2017 00:46 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Soli Deo Gloria
Speaker: Damien Garofalo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 10/15/2017
Bible: Isaiah 42:1-9
Length: 48 min. (64kbps)

Overview: -I am the Lord- that is my name- my glory I give to no other- -Isaiah 42-8 ESV-----We will deviate from our exposition in 1 John to continue the Reformation theme for October. This coming Sunday, we will consider Soli Deo Gloria, -To the glory of God alone.------The glory of God is the holiness of God put on display. That is, it is the infinite worth of God made manifest. Notice how Isaiah shifts from -holy- to -glory-- -Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts- the whole earth is full of his glory-- -Isa. 6-3-. When the holiness of God fills the earth for people to see, it is called glory.-----In speaking of God-s glory, the Bible assumes that this infinite value has entered creation. It has, as it were, shined. God-s glory is the radiance of His holiness, the out-streaming of His infinite value. And when it streams out, it is seen as beautiful and great. It has both infinite quality and magnitude. So, we may define God-s glory as the beauty and greatness of His manifold perfections.-----I say -manifold perfections- because specific aspects of God-s being are said to have glory. For example, we read of -the glory of his grace- -Eph. 1-6- and -the glory of his might- -2 Thess. 1-9-. God Himself is glorious because He is the perfect unity of all His manifold and glorious perfections. God-s glory is the outward radiance of the intrinsic beauty and greatness of His manifold perfections.

Title: Sola Scriptura
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew

Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 10/1/2017
Bible: Matthew 15:1-20
Length: 55 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, Sola Gratia and Solus Christus.----These four principles rediscovered in the Reformation recapitulate the main doctrinal truths that we have already seen in Matthew-s Gospel -the authority of Scripture, the inclusion of other ethnicities among God-s people on the basis of faith, the grace of Christ, and His magnificence as the fulfillment of the law-. Beginning with the theme of -Scripture alone,- we have been seeing time and again in Matthew how God-s word is always superior to human traditions, and personal relationships always trump religious regulations. While there is a place for tradition within the Christian faith, any tradition that is not supported by Scripture must bow to the higher authority of God-s Word.

A Mixed Reception

Mon, 18 Sep 2017 03:32 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: A Mixed Reception
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 9/17/2017
Bible: Matthew 13:53-14:36
Length: 56 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Having concluded the parabolic discourse of chapter 13, now the parables become history as we will look at five narratives - Jesus- rejection at Nazareth -13-53-58-, the beheading of John -14-1-12-, the feeding of the 5000 -14-13-21-, walking on water -14-22-33-, and healing in Gennesaret -14-34-36-. In these narratives we will find a mixed reception on the part of different people which occurs any time a people are confronted with Jesus Christ. As the parable of the sower has just illustrated -13-1-9-, some people despise and reject the gospel -the seed that falls on the path-, and some embrace and believe -the fourth, fertile soil-. ----Matthew introduces this section by contrasting the people-s rejection of Jesus and John the Baptist, based upon mistaken assessments as to their identity -13-53-14-12-. While the responses of Herod-s beheading of John and Jesus- rejection by his hometown can be likened to the seed that falls on the path, it is the surprising response of those -outsiders- of Gennesaret of absolute acceptance, that provides an historic fulfillment of the receptive fertile soil of the parable. Those who despise and reject Christ usually do so based on a misunderstanding of the nature of His Person and work -an incorrect Christology-- alternatively, when people receive Christ, it is because He has revealed His true nature to them.

Overview: The LORD said to Moses, -Behold, I will come to you in a thick cloud, so that the people may hear when I speak with you and may also believe in you forever.- Then Moses told the words of the people to the LORD.--The LORD also said to Moses, -Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments- and let them be ready for the third day, for on the third day the LORD will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people. You shall set bounds for the people all around, saying, -Beware that you do not go up on the mountain or touch the border of it- whoever touches the mountain shall surely be put to death. No hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot through- whether beast or man, he shall not live.- When the ram-s horn sounds a long blast, they shall come up to the mountain.- So Moses went down from the mountain to the people and consecrated the people, and they washed their garments. He said to the people, -Be ready for the third day- do not go near a woman.- -Exodus 19-9-15---The people of Israel are about to meet their God on Mount Zion. He instructs Israel on what they need to do and how they are to prepare for this event. They are to prepare to meet and hear from the Lord face to face. In three days time the Lord's glory will be manifested on the mountain before their eyes. Please meditate on our text in Exodus 19-9-15 this week. Are you prepared to meet the Lord of all, the King of kings, the one who was, and is, and is to come- It's a sobering thought to think the very next moment in our lives could be the last moment here in on earth and our lives in the present. Are you ready- Are you prepared-

Faith is the Victory

Mon, 4 Sep 2017 02:54 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Faith is the Victory
Subtitle: 1 John
Speaker: Damien Garofalo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 9/3/2017
Bible: 1 John 5:1-5
Length: 40 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Seeing faith as the connection between love and obedience puts the First Epistle of John into a more clear perspective. When John says, -Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God- he is not saying a mere mental assent to the facts of Jesus- life assures someone of salvation. Rather, when we see saving, living faith as that which involves new desires to obey God and to love the brethren, then -faith- is a complete package, a beautiful picture of a redeemed life.----This kind of faith overcomes the world. The world that is hostile to the gospel, that would desire to call us away from God, that stands in opposition to everything offered by God, cannot have victory over the child of God. No, the victory belongs to God-s people, who are given all they need to overcome the world through Christ by faith.

Test the Spirits

Sun, 20 Aug 2017 21:53 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Test the Spirits
Subtitle: 1 John
Speaker: Damien Garofalo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 8/20/2017
Bible: 1 John 4:1-6
Length: 51 min. (64kbps)

Overview: In 1 John chapter 4, we see John-s pastoral heart poured out toward his readers once again. As he considers once more the circumstances that compete for their assurance of salvation, the Apostle writes to his -beloved- friends not to believe every spirit. Rather, they ought to -test the spirits to see whether they are from God- -4-1-.----Why must these first-century Christians be on guard continually- -For many false prophets have gone out into the world- -4-1-. This brutal fact signifies the call for these believers, and every believer, to remain steadfastly committed to the truth and to exercise God-given discernment when dealing with teaching. Like the Bereans mentioned in the Book of Acts, Christians ought to -search the scriptures to see if these things are so.- Everything we hear and everyone we hear from must be filtered through the ultimate authority, God-s Word

A Kingdom of Priests & a Holy Nation

Sun, 13 Aug 2017 20:47 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: A Kingdom of Priests & a Holy Nation
Subtitle: Exodus 19
Speaker: Jim Montesano
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 8/13/2017
Bible: Exodus 19:1-8
Length: 37 min. (64kbps)

Overview: The Lord had made a covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, but now He makes a covenant with all of the people of Israel as a nation. This is what we call the Old Covenant or the Law of Moses. Chapter 19 begins as Israel is camped at the base of the mountain of God, or Mount Sinai. We are treading on holy ground as we enter our text. All Scripture is God-breathed, but some texts are weightier than others, and this is one of the weightiest texts in Exodus and possibly all of the Old Testament. May we approach our text on bended knee as we marvel at the awesomeness and power of the Lord.----At such an important moment Moses records the very day they arrived at the mountain, in the third month. Moses, the Lord-s mediator, goes up the mountain in verse 4, and God speaks to him. First, the Lord, Yahweh, identifies that He is the one speaking. Second, the Lord reminds Israel of what He had done for them. He destroyed their enemies and brought them here as an eagle cares for her young. But third, the Lord adds a condition, sometimes referred to as a conditional covenant. The Lord says, -if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine- 6 and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.- The people reply, -All that the Lord has spoken we will do--This is a continuation of the covenant the Lord had made with Abraham. Through the Old Testament, we see that Israel failed to keep the Mosaic covenant. This covenant will show Israel they can never keep the Law fully, - it will drive many to the Lord for salvation, as evidence of the Lord-s faithfulness to His covenant - to elect

Parables 3: The Treasure

Mon, 7 Aug 2017 03:29 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Parables 3: The Treasure
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 8/6/2017
Bible: Matthew 13:44-53
Length: 50 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Today we look at the final three parables of chapter 13, which we will discover are all related. The treasure parables -13-44-46- set our gaze upon Jesus Christ as the -Pearl of Great Price- - the kingdom-s treasure - who motivates us to leave everything of earth behind in order to embrace and follow Him. The net parable -13-47-50- is a sober reminder that not everyone will see the value of the Pearl and preferring the treasure of earth, in the end will receive the judgment that their selfish evil life acquired for them.

Heart and Spirit

Mon, 31 Jul 2017 03:39 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Heart and Spirit
Subtitle: 1 John
Speaker: Damien Garofalo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 7/30/2017
Bible: 1 John 3:19-24
Length: 47 min. (64kbps)

Overview: The Apostle John, apparently ignorant of the moral of most Disney movies, does not trust the human heart as a faithful guide to truth. In fact, he sees the heart as in need of reassurance and as a possible source of condemnation. These realities are in keeping with what Jeremiah the prophet said about the heart - that it is -desperately sick- -Jeremiah 17-9-.----Whether through John or Jeremiah or another human mouthpiece, God-s testimony about the heart is clear - if you want to discover truth, do not look within your heart, look outside of yourself. True, Christians have been regenerated and our hearts are being renewed, but even as believers, we are to base our confidence in God, who knows all things, and not in our hearts, which still lie to us from time to time.----Many of us can relate to this struggle. Our hearts condemn us. Sometimes we bear the guilt and shame of sin and forget the promise that there is -no condemnation for those who are in Christ- -Romans 5-1-. Sometimes our hearts are cold and seem to lack a connection to God. There are mornings when true, blood-bought, born-again sons and daughters of the Most High just . . . don-t feel saved when they arise.----Thank God our salvation is not based on the shifting sands of our emotions, but on the solid rock of Jesus Christ- Your heart may condemn you, but God is greater than your heart -v20-. If we believe on Christ, love one another, and follow his commands, the Spirit of God will testify to us that we indeed are born of God.

Parables 2: Big Fields, Little Seeds Pt 2

Mon, 24 Jul 2017 03:47 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Parables 2: Big Fields, Little Seeds Pt 2
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 7/23/2017
Bible: Matthew 13:24-43
Length: 52 min. (64kbps)

Overview: What are we to make of apparent inconsistencies like slavery in Christian America- How about apartheid in Reformed South Africa- How could Christian Europe sit back and watch the Holocaust of six million Jews- And how does the evangelical church seem to be so undisturbed by abortion in our day- Looking at church history, it can be hard for us to hope in that which we are told is a powerful and transforming Gospel which seems to have so little influence on the surrounding society. In the parable of the weeds, Jesus gives an explanation for what seems to be a grand contradiction in God-s church. In the midst of this field which represents the visible manifestation of the -kingdom of heaven,- where Jesus has sown good Gospel seeds into the heart of true believers, an enemy has sown bad seeds that give rise to tares -false converts-. Rather than going on a mission to root out these tares from among the wheat, the parable calls for the true church to stand under the Gospel, until the coming judgment day when Christ and His angels will thresh the wheat and winnow the chaff. At that time He will gather the believers together and cast the false converts into hell. The two -little seed- parables reveal that while the kingdom of God may seem small and insignificant, it is actually quite powerful. Both the -big field- and -little seed- parables encourage the believer that, even though we may not see it with our eyes, Christ is King and our God reigns-

Title: Parables 1: Big Fields, Little Seeds Pt 1
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 7/16/2017
Bible: Matthew 13:1-23
Length: 54 min. (64kbps)

Overview: As opposition against Him increased, Jesus spent more and more private time with His disciples. There was a growing polarization in the response to His ministry and teaching. As a result, Jesus turned to His favorite method of teaching, the parable. A parable is a simple story taken from daily life that illustrates a grander truth. A parable calls upon the involvement of the hearer to make an interpretation. As such it is an effective way of both, teaching truth to -those with ears to hear,- while at the same time, veiling truth from those who are hard-hearted. For those who are hardened to truth, everything they hear is obscured, and they become a fulfillment of Isaiah-s prophecy -6-9-10- about a people whose spiritual faculties were dulled so that they could not understand.

Messiah's Sign

Mon, 3 Jul 2017 04:02 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Messiah's Sign
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 7/2/2017
Bible: Matthew 12:38-50
Length: 49 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Jesus sharply rebuked the Pharisees telling them that no sign would be given to them except for the sign of the prophet Jonah. Just what is this -sign of Jonah-- Commentators vary in their opinions as to exactly what this sign is- but what is very clear is that in light of the presence of the Messiah, seeking a sign beyond His Person and work is considered -wicked and adulterous.- Yet sensual people love to live by sight and feeling, and as a result Jesus Christ becomes insufficient, in and of Himself. The more carnal a person is, the more they will be taken in by remarkable or impressive outward signs, and the less likely they will walk by faith in the invisible but Almighty God. In the very life of Jesus, God has opened all the stops, delivered all of His signs, and provided all the proof necessary for us to believe. To seek for heavenly signs such as visions and dreams, or apologetic proofs from science, or -signs of the times,- in patterns ofhistory, the moon or sun, weather, the economy or politics, are allnot only insufficient, but may be an indication of infidelity to God-s covenant. For One who is greater than the temple, greater than Jonah, and greater that Solomon has come, and He is our final Prophet, Priest and King- Do not insult His majesty by seeking for a sign from the muck and mire of some parlor magician, prophetic guru or mysterious storyteller. You have Him who died and conquered the grave- you have Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge- He is more than enough- hear Him-

The Body of Christ

Sun, 25 Jun 2017 20:20 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: The Body of Christ
Subtitle: Exodus 18
Speaker: Jim Montesano
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 6/25/2017
Bible: Exodus 18:13-27
Length: 40 min. (64kbps)

Overview: This 2nd scene, which takes place the next day, Jethro observed Moses dealing with the people of Israel around him all day long. He said in verse 14 of chapter 18- -What is this that you are doing for the people- Why do you sit alone, and all the people stand around you from morning till evening-- And Moses said to his father-in-law, -Because the people come to me to inquire of God- when they have a dispute, they come to me and I decide between one person and another, and I make them know the decrees of God and his laws.- Moses- father-in-law said to him, -What you are doing is not good.- You and the people with you will certainly wear yourselves out, for the thing is too heavy for you. You are not able to do it alone.- Jethro saw that all Moses did was not good, so he gave him godly counsel to seek help from other men who feared God. Jethro-s counsel was both for the good of Moses as well as all of the people. Moses heeded his counsel and Jethro went back to his land. this text teaches us that no man, not even Moses, can handle everything. We see something similar today in our churches where pastors, deacons, teachers, and evangelists are getting burned out from doing all the work of the ministry. Much wisdom comes with godly people helping those whom the Lord has ordained as under-shepherds. All of us in the body of Christ need to serve where we can. They were having disputes without knowing how to resolve them. At Mount Sinai the Lord would formally give all of the people His law -Exodus chapters 20-23-. There they will find out how to respond to one another, as the Lord reveals to each of them how they should live.

Children of God

Mon, 19 Jun 2017 01:42 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Children of God
Subtitle: 1 John
Speaker: Damien Garofalo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 6/18/2017
Bible: 1 John 3:1-10
Length: 53 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Like the audience of John-s day, many Christians struggle with assurance. We feel our prayers unanswered. We question our faith. We struggle with doubt. We see little victory in sin. We observe apostasy all around us. Let the Apostle John-s Spirit-inspired, 2,000 year old, pastoral advice speak to you today- -See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God------As he does elsewhere, John also includes evidences along with his encouragement. Verse 10 says, -By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil- whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.- Most likely, John was responding to apostates who taught that holiness was optional. However, following Christ-s own statement that true and false disciples are known by the fruit they bear, John says that the true children of God are marked by practicing righteousness and loving the brethren. We have considered how loving the brethren proves our salvation- in this message we will consider how this love, coupled with a desire for righteousness, proves that we are children of God. God not only makes us his children, he wants us to know we are-

Lord of the Spirits

Sun, 11 Jun 2017 23:36 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Lord of the Spirits
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 6/11/2017
Bible: Matthew 12:22-37
Length: 51 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Among those who Jesus healed was a blind, mute demoniac from whom Jesus exorcised demons. While Jesus- power astonished many people, the Pharisees needed to manufacture an explanation that would justify themselves while explaining away the clear miracle. Interestingly they do not deny the genuineness of Jesus- miracle but instead attribute His power to the devil. They do this so that He would be branded a sorcerer worthy of death. Jesus- defended His activity using an analogy from civil warfare and the fact that He was not the only exorcist in the area. Contrary to the Pharisees accusation of demonic inspiration, Jesus offers a brief parable to illustrate that before He could cast out a demon, He must actually first bind Satan.----In the end it is not Jesus who is blaspheming by doing Satan-s work, but it is the Pharisees who blaspheme God-s work. Their abject rejection and condemnation of Jesus- clearly demonstrated power -which is a work of the Holy Spirit- is a sin which Jesus describes as -unforgiveable.- --After some additional discourse, Matthew returns to consider the incident that started the section, the exorcism of verse 22. In verses 43-45 Jesus concludes the discourse wanting the man who was liberated and everyone else present to know that to be delivered from demons was not enough if the devil-s ownership is not replaced with Christ-s ownership. Moral reformation apart from Christ will always be inadequate. Unless repentance is genuinely unto life, the freedom that one experiences from a bondage is temporary and inadequate. In the end Christ is either Lord of all, or Lord of nothing.

Title: What the Lord has Done in Me
Subtitle: Exodus 18
Speaker: Jim Montesano
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 6/4/2017
Bible: Exodus 18:1-12
Length: 42 min. (64kbps)

Overview: The Lord has brought the Israelites out of Egypt and they are closing in on Mount Sinai where they will witness a tremendous manifestation of the Lord-s presence in the giving of the Ten Commandments. Many call this epic event the heart and center of the book of Exodus. But before they reach the mountain of the Lord, there are two scenes involving Moses- father-in-law, Jethro. In the first scene, Jethro, a priest of Midian, meets Moses again for the first time since Moses left Egypt. Although Jethro had heard all that God had done for Israel, Moses gave him a first-hand account of what the Lord had done. Then Moses told his father-in-law all that the LORD had done to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel's sake, all the hardship that had come upon them in the way, and how the LORD had delivered them -18-8-.--Hearing these words from Moses, Jethro rejoiced for all the good the Lord has done to Israel, in that he had delivered them out of the hand of the Egyptians. Jethro exclaimed, -Blessed be the LORD, who has delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hand of Pharaoh and has delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians. Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods, because in this affair they dealt arrogantly with the people.- Jethro heard, rejoiced, and he believed, exulting, -Yahweh is greater than all gods-- Jethro worshiped the Lord along with Moses and Aaron, with a sacrificial offering before God.--Jethro heard, believed, proclaimed, and worship-

Lord of the Sabbath

Mon, 29 May 2017 04:07 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Lord of the Sabbath
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 5/28/2017
Bible: Matthew 12:1-21
Length: 50 min. (64kbps)

Overview: While the Law of Moses was not very specific as to what may or may not constitute work that was prohibited on the Sabbath, over time, Jewish tradition and oral law developed a precise code specifically prohibiting 39 different kinds of activity on the Sabbath. From the perspective of the religious leaders, as Jesus- disciples plucked grain and ate it, they were violating rabbinical laws against reaping, winnowing, and threshing, and thus -working- on God-s Holy Day. Consider the rabbi-s point of view for a moment- The most exalted part of God-s breathed holy Word - the Ten Commandments - clearly commands, -on the Sabbath day, you shall not to any work.- And here are these Jewish folks following a self-styled -rabbi,- doing on the Sabbath what other laborers do six days a week. As guardians of the Law, who else could put a stop to this most damning practice- You can see how the activity of Jesus- disciples in the grain fields that Saturday would raise a genuine concern on the part of those who were anxious to protect God-s truth.----In response, Jesus drives his dissenters back to Bible- -Have you not read what David did -- -vs. 3-- -have you not read in the Law -- -vs. 5- -And if you had known what this -verse- means -- -vs. 7-. Drawing from the entire Tanakh -the Law, the Writings, and the Prophets-, Jesus audaciously argues from Scripture, ultimately exalting Himself above the three most beloved entities of Judaism - the Sabbath, the Temple and the Law- Indeed, as Jesus would say later, -everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.- And it was fulfilled in He who was greater than David...

Abide in the Truth You Know

Mon, 22 May 2017 04:33 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Abide in the Truth You Know
Subtitle: 1 John
Speaker: Damien Garofalo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 5/21/2017
Bible: 1 John 2:18-29
Length: 48 min. (64kbps)

Overview: In the first century, deceivers and false brethren plotted to steal the sheep away from the Shepherd. These were antichrists, whom John-s audience heard -is coming- and -now many antichrists have come- -v18-. In fact, the very existence of these men proved that it was -the last hour- -v18-. The antichrists were denying the Father by denying the Son -v22-23- and trying to deceive believers -v26-. Add to those charges the tragedy that they came not from without, but from within the very fold they were trying to deceive -v19-, and we can relate to the fears and anxieties of first century Christians.----But John, by the inspiration of the Spirit, is not aiming to leave his readers in despondency. In fact, even as he warns of antichrists, John-s disposition is not one of doom and gloom but of hope and encouragement. He refers to his recipients as -children-, writing from a pastor-s heart. He writes of a sharp contrast between those antichrists and the true believers- they have denied the faith, but you know the truth. He encourages them by reminding them of who they are and what they have in Christ- -you have been anointed by the Holy One- -v20-, -you have all knowledge- -v20-, -you know -the truth-- -v21-, you have the -promise that he made to us - eternal life-, and the anointing -abides in you- and -teaches you about everything- and -is true- -27-.

Bible: Matthew 12:46-50
Length: 52 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Every year -Mother's Day- is celebrated in our country. While we do not feel pressured to bend to the traditions of men, on this occasion, due to the proximity of this text in chapter 12, we will intentionally go a bit out of order in our exposition of Matthew and consider these 5 encouraging verses concerning Jesus- true family. But instead of a sentimental message about the importance and value of earthly mothers and family -as important as they are-, this text will challenge our thinking as to who we ought to give priority to in our lives. We all love our family- we are most comfortable communicating and serving and visiting with our physical mother, brothers and sisters- however, this text challenges us with a very different definition of who, in fact, is family. Clearly Jesus defines His family by pointing to His disciples, --whoever does the will of my Father.----o while there is nothing wrong with celebrating the sacrifice and love of your own mother- while there is nothing wrong with having a close spot in your heart for your physical family- this kind of love is only to serve as an example of how we are to love our brothers, sisters, and mother of Christ in your church. Next Sunday, look around the gathered assembly of God-s people, and behold your brother, your sister, and your mother.

The Lord is my Banner

Sun, 7 May 2017 20:17 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: The Lord is my Banner
Subtitle: Exodus
Speaker: Jim Montesano
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 5/7/2017
Bible: Exodus 17:8-16
Length: 36 min. (64kbps)

Overview: While the Israelites are still at Rephidim in the wilderness, they face another trial of a different kind. This time they are attacked by the Amalekites. This was the first time they encountered a military force to fight against in battle. The Amalekites were most likely descendants of Amalek, the grandson of Esau. This will not the last time that Israel will battle these desert-dwelling people. In our text we are introduced to Joshua and Hur the son of Caleb. Joshua-s appearance in this battle foreshadows his role in taking the Promised Land. The description of the battle is brief, but amazing - Moses said to Joshua -Choose for us men, and go out and fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand.- So Joshua did as Moses told him, and fought with Amalek, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. Whenever Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed, and whenever he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses- hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. And Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the sword. -Ex 17-9-13-

Messiah: Judge and Savior

Mon, 24 Apr 2017 01:20 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Messiah: Judge and Savior
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 4/23/2017
Bible: Matthew 11:20-30
Length: 45 min. (64kbps)

Overview: The LORD, YHWH is not only described as a Judge, but as a Savior. In Isaiah 43-11, God proclaims, -I, I am the Lord, and besides me there is no savior.- Likewise in Hosea 13-4, -you know no God but me, and besides me there is no savior.- Like the role of Judge was given to Christ, so is the role of Savior given to Him. Among the masses of people who reject Christ, there are some, chosen by Jesus, who sense their need of Him- it is these who, weary and burdened by their sin, come to Jesus and do not find -woe- but salvation and rest.----As we have seen before and will see again in this Gospel, Matthew reveals Jesus as both Judge and Savior - often side by side. Faithful expository preaching will not neglect either role of the Messiah. Ultimately we preach Christ as Savior, but salvation means little outside of the context of the judgment we all deserve. Faithful exposition of Matthew reveals Christ as Judge of the smug and Savior of the penitent.

You Crucified...God Raised

Mon, 17 Apr 2017 02:21 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: You Crucified...God Raised
Subtitle: Resurrection Day
Speaker: Damien Garofalo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 4/16/2017
Bible: Acts 2:14-41
Length: 48 min. (64kbps)

Overview: How do followers of the Crucified One declare the truth of the gospel to a world so set against God that they murdered his Son- Pointedly, with conviction and hope. Peter-s sermon at Pentecost demonstrates as much. Facing Jews from around the world, Peter stood upon the foundation of the Word of God and boldly proclaimed to the people that they themselves were responsible for killing the Miracle Worker in their midst -Acts 2-22-23-. He did not excuse them from culpability, a culpability borne by all sinners, for it was for sinners that Christ died.----The world-s hatred for all things godly is so overwhelming that when God himself came on the scene, he was killed. This is a grim picture. It may even seem hopeless. As we walk through this life we feel the opposition from the same world. They hated Christ. Christ said they will hate his followers. They are still trying to stamp out his image wherever they find it. We should not be surprised when the world tries to ignore, shout down, redefine, or punish the truth. After all, they nailed the Truth to a cross.----If Christ remained dead, then the world, and ultimately Satan, won. No anticipation for a new, better world. No point in praying. No hope for lost loved ones. Addiction is unbreakable, ignorance is inescapable, sin is unstoppable. If this world can destroy Christ our Hope, then all hope is lost. If Christ remained dead.----But, Peter exclaims, -God raised him up.-

John the Great

Mon, 10 Apr 2017 01:40 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: John the Great
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 4/9/2017
Bible: Matthew 11:2-19;Matthew 14:3-12
Length: 43 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Our text begins with John as a prisoner of Herod, held in the fortress at Machaerus near the Dead Sea -Josephus Ant. 18.116-119-. The details of John-s arrest and martyrdom are recorded in Matthew 14-3-12. This John in prison appears different from the one we met earlier, fearlessly heralding the coming One -3-11-12-. From prison, John appears more tentative, as he sends two disciples to ask Jesus, -Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another-- -11-3-. How did this man who so confidently preached Jesus as the Messiah and trusted so fully in His character -3-14-, now come to question his identity- Most likely it was John-s lengthy languishing in prison that had broken him down. How could the One who promised to -set the prisoners free,- not free him from Herod-s jail- We can say that John was a -bruised reed- and his faith was like a -smoldering wick.- As we might expect, the Messiah-s answer to John, and by extension to all people whose faith might waver in the midst of suffering, does not break a bruised reed or quench a smoldering wick. Instead in beatitude form -11-6-, Jesus encourages John, and us, to remain faithful no matter what the circumstances.

The Rock was Jesus Christ

Mon, 3 Apr 2017 01:12 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: The Rock was Jesus Christ
Subtitle: Exodus
Speaker: Jim Montesano
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 4/2/2017
Bible: Exodus 17:1-7
Length: 40 min. (64kbps)

Overview: he Lord is guiding Israel forward moving them ever closer to Mt Sinai. It-s been two months since they miraculously left Egypt, having been tested in the wilderness first at Marah with the bitter waters, and second, with their desire for food and the Lord-s provision of manna. Israel failed both tests, and in chapter 17 they will be tested a third time. Of course these were not tests for which God did not know the outcome, for He knows all -Ps 139-1-3-, but they were tests for Israel to see whether they would trust the Lord-s promise and provision. But again they failed. Without any water whatsoever, Israel failed this time, not only by grumbling as they had before, but this time with quarrelling. As we see, Moses feared, -they are almost ready to stone me.- -v. 4-- and -they tested the Lord by saying, -Is the Lord among us or not-- -v. 7-----The Lord answers His peoples- complaints- just as He had in the two prior scenes, again the Lord is longsuffering towards Israel, and He graciously provides for His people. He tells Moses, -Go on before the people, and take with you some of the elders of Israel. Also take in your hand your staff with which you struck the river, and go. Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb, and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.- -v. 5-6-. The same staff that struck the Nile and brought death to the waters in the first plague in Egypt, would now bring forth fresh waters from a rock- The Lord called Moses forward to go before the people and strike the rock. He also told Moses He would stand before him- God-s presence is with them.

MI 3: Crosses and Crowns

Mon, 27 Mar 2017 04:10 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: MI 3: Crosses and Crowns
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 3/26/2017
Bible: Matthew 10:34-11:1
Length: 53 min. (64kbps)

Overview: In Matthew chapter 10, the apostle compiles and summarizes Jesus- teaching from various discourses on missions. After initially outlining the source, staff and specifics of the mission of the twelve apostles, Matthew goes on to outline the peculiar dangers that they, and subsequent generations of disciples, would suffer as a result of preaching Christ -what we call evangelism-.----The chapter concludes with a declaration of the rewards that would be distributed to those involved in various capacities in the mission. Just as the entire discourse moves from the twelve apostles to all believers at large, so does its conclusion. Jesus moves from describing the rewards for -prophets,- to -righteous persons,- to the -little ones- -10-41-42-. It is not His intention to present these three groups as mutually exclusive classes, but rather to show that all kinds of people are necessary and vital in support of the mission. Those who actually go and preach the Gospel, those who pray for those who go, and even those who support the mission in the smallest of ways -whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water- are all going to be appropriately rewarded.

Do Not Love the World

Mon, 20 Mar 2017 03:22 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Do Not Love the World
Subtitle: 1 John
Speaker: Damien Garofalo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 3/19/2017
Bible: 1 John 2:15-17
Length: 55 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Many a sermon has used this text as a springboard against worldliness, and indeed it is a strong admonition against such. However, we must keep in mind that our terms must be defined by scripture, not cultural trends. What is considered -worldly- by one Christian may not be considered such by another. Our time in this text does not seek to provide a list of what behaviors are worldly. We will instead focus on the heart. A heart that is wrapped up in the things of this world cannot also be filled with the Father-s love. Rather than discuss choices in dress and music and entertainment we will be challenged to take inventory of our hearts and ask whether or not we truly love this world.----As Christians, we walk the line between heaven and earth. The things of this world will try to capitvate your heart. But remember, -the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.- -1 John 2-17-

MI 2: Trusting During Trouble

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: MI 2: Trusting During Trouble
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew

Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 3/12/2017
Bible: Matthew 10:16-33
Length: 51 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Jesus- teaching and miraculous works summarized in the first 9 chapters of Matthew-s Gospel point to a greater mission for God-s people. The mission which every Christian must accept, is to proclaim the good news that Jesus has come into the world to save us from the consequences and power of sin through His atoning death and triumphant resurrection. In chapter 10, Matthew seems to have systematically collected the teachings of Jesus related to mission. We have seen in the first 15 verses of chapter 10, the source, staff, and specifics of the first mission given to the twelve apostles of Jesus.----This week we will pick up with verses 16-39 which reveal the peculiar danger of the mission as it is carried out by the apostles and subsequent generations of the church in a hostile world.

Bread from Heaven

Sun, 5 Mar 2017 20:54 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Bread from Heaven
Subtitle: Exodus
Speaker: Jim Montesano
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 3/5/2017
Length: 35 min. (64kbps)

Overview: While the quail He sent would be temporary on this night and another to come, the bread would rain down for the next 40 years on every day, except on the Sabbaths. This -manna- was supernatural bread from heaven which God miraculously provided. It was unlike anything ever seen before or after. The Psalmist spoke of it as bread from heaven and of angels -Ps 78-24-25-, and the apostle Paul called it spiritual food -1 Cor 10-3-. The bread that God provided was sufficient as He gave them enough for each day with a double portion for the Sabbath. The bread was also sacred in the sense they were to keep some as a memorial of the Lord-s salvation and provision. Future generations would know what the Lord had done for Israel by this memorial- Lastly, the bread was sanctifying, as Deuteronomy 8-3 says, -And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.-----These aspects of the manna point to the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Bread of Life. Jesus who miraculously fed 5000 with bread, is Himself far more precious for men to feed upon than the manna they had continually in the wilderness. Jesus said, -I am the bread of life- whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst- -John 6-35- 53-

Buried and Raised with Christ

Mon, 27 Feb 2017 02:50 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Buried and Raised with Christ
Subtitle: Baptism
Speaker: Damien Garofalo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 2/26/2017
Bible: Colossians 2:6-15
Length: 38 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Next week, we have the solemn and exciting privilege of witnessing brethren from our church respond obediently to Christ-s command to be baptized. Our baptismal candidates will each share his or her personal testimony and then step into the baptistery to be immersed in water in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Many of us know that baptism was given as a sign of a believer-s salvation as well as a testimony to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, but do we truly recognize the depths of all that baptism teaches us about the believer, his Savior, and the relationship between the two-----While our major presentation of gospel truth will come from those being baptized on Sunday, we will spend some time together in the scriptures, focusing on Colossians 2-6-15. This passage bears out the significance of baptism in such a profound way. Too often, evangelical -particularly Baptist- baptism services spend so much time focusing on what baptism is not -i.e., not salvific as in baptismal regeneration, not so correlated to circumcision that it is administered to infants, etc- that we lose focus on what baptism is. Rather than considering this passage in a merely polemical way, we will highlight the glorious truths that a believer-s baptism conveys.

Mission Impossible

Mon, 20 Feb 2017 04:24 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Mission Impossible
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 2/19/2017
Bible: Matthew 9:35-10:15
Length: 59 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Jesus- authoritative teaching -Matthew chapters 5-7- and demonstration of power -chapters 8 - 9- were not meant merely to astonish crowds -7-28-29, 10-33-. But Jesus- words and works pointed to a greater purpose - a mission. We often refer to this mission as -evangelism,- from the Greek euangelion meaning -good message.- Evangelism is the mission of the church. It is the proclamation of the good news that Jesus has come into the world to save us from our sins- that by trusting in His substitutionary death and conquering resurrection, we have forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God and eternal life. Over the next 3 sermons, we will consider chapter 10 of Matthew-s Gospel under the banner of -Mission Impossible.- First we will examine the incentives, staff and mission itself -9-34-10-15-- then in part 2, the peculiar danger of the mission -10-16-39-- and finally in part 3, the mission-s reward -10-40-42-. In part 1 on Sunday, we will see how at the beginning of the mission, Jesus chose 12 men to herald the gospel message and gave them specific instructions as to how to carry out their impossible mission in the midst of a hostile world.

Messiah: Liberator!

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Messiah: Liberator!
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 1/29/2017
Bible: Matthew 9:1-34
Length: 61 min. (64kbps)

Overview: In chapters 8 and 9 of his Gospel, Matthew reports ten miracles that Jesus performs. In chapter 8 we found five miracles of grace demonstrating the -width- of Jesus- ministry, reaching out those who are most alienated- lepers, Gentiles, women, and demoniacs. In chapter 9, as opposition to Jesus begins to build, we discover the -depth- of Jesus- ministry through five more miracles reaching down to those who are most hopeless. Our text also focuses our attention of the freedom that Christ brings to our lives through faith. Woven among the stories of a hopeful father of a dead girl, a determined woman with a blood disease, and audacious men concerned over their sick friend, we learn how Jesus sees faith and touches the human need bringing freedom. Salvation is by grace -chapter 8- through faith unto freedom -chapter 9-

Love One Another

Mon, 23 Jan 2017 02:55 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Love One Another
Subtitle: 1 John
Speaker: Damien Garofalo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 1/22/2017
Bible: 1 John 2:7-14; 3:11-18
Length: 50 min. (64kbps)

Overview: -Love one another- is not a suggestion. It is not an option for a Christian. It cannot be placed on a list of -gray areas.- Good Christians do not hold varying interpretations on this matter that are debated in public forums or book series. There are no good Christians who do not love one another- there are no Christians who do not love the brethren.----Few things can be more black-and-white than this. Just as belief in Christ is the necessary article of faith, loving the brethren is the first and necessary fruit of salvation. John-s terms cannot be more crystal clear- whoever loves his brother abides in the light -2-10-, the one who does not love his brother is not of God -3-10-, whoever does not love abides in death -3-14-, whoever loves has been born of God and knows God -4-7- but the one who does not love does not know God -4-8-, and, -If anyone says, -I love God,- and hates his brother, he is a liar- for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen- -4-20-.----Loving the brethren is a non-negotiable matter for the Christian. May Christ-s command to us expose sins which must be repented of, yet reveal to us the fruit that brings assurance.

God is Love

Mon, 16 Jan 2017 05:06 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: God is Love
Subtitle: 1 John
Speaker: Damien Garofalo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 1/15/2017
Bible: 1 John 4:7-21
Length: 53 min. (64kbps)

Overview: The Apostle John, by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, asserts plainly that -God is love.- Earlier in our study of 1 John, we noted that -God is Light- -1-15-. These -God is. . .- statements are extremely important to consider for the Christian, especially as we think about the topic of assurance of salvation. Remember, 1 John contains both subjective proofs and objective realities that fortify our confidence. Before expounding on the proofs of salvation, we are taking a look at the unchanging, objective grounds of our assurance.----Meditating on God-s attributes is a major way to strengthen your assurance of salvation. God is love. This does not mean that love as we know it -the emotion, the affection, the action- is God, as if God is merely a force. Nor does this mean that God is only love.

Three trials in the Wilderness - the 1st of water

Sun, 8 Jan 2017 22:42 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Three trials in the Wilderness - the 1st of water
Subtitle: Exodus
Speaker: Jim Montesano
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 1/8/2017
Bible: Exodus 15:22-27
Length: 37 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Last time we left the Israelites in Exodus they were praising and worshiping the Lord for His great victory over both Pharaoh and Egypt and also their salvation. In our text, which is part of three trials they face in the wilderness that covers Ch 15-22 to Ch 17-7, we see the Lord leads the people to bitter waters after three days journey in the desert. While this was a trial from the Israelites perspective we find out in v 25 that the Lord tested their faith. The people failed that test by grumbling to Moses. Moses then intercedes and the Lord turns the bitter waters sweet. Our text in Exodus is full of God-s grace to His people. It speaks of salvation, sanctification, and even a foretaste of glorification of Israel all brought about by our loving God.--When we fail, as we often do, we can be assured the Lord has a purpose behind our trials and that purpose is that we would grow more into His image. We, like Israel in our text, are in the wilderness called the world. In this world we also face trials of various kinds, some we fail and grow, and some by His grace we pass and also grow. Through these trials and valleys, we are slowly conformed into His image. Brothers and sisters where would we be without trials- It-s through these trials we learn to depend on the Lord and not on our own merits.

God is Light

Mon, 19 Dec 2016 03:43 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: God is Light
Subtitle: 1 John
Speaker: Damien Garofalo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 12/18/2016
Bible: 1 John 1:5-10
Length: 49 min. (64kbps)

Overview: It is evident from 1 John 1-6-7 that John-s emphasis on the fact that God is light in whom there is no darkness at all is more than a theological abstraction. On the contrary, his concern is practical and pastoral - he admonishes his readers to -walk in the light as he is in the light.- For John, embracing the gospel message brings us into fellowship with God the Father through and with Jesus Christ and with each other -1 John 1-3-. The genuine nature of this fellowship is seen in a walk that reflects and responds to the truth that is revealed in Christ. Once again, we can see a correlation to Paul-s letter to the Ephesians. These calls to walk in the light of the knowledge of Christ are not offered as a means of gaining fellowship with God- rather, it is because of the fellowship that we possess by faith in Christ that Paul exhorts his readers - and us - to walk in the light. Psalm 36-9 says, -For with you is the fountain of life- in your light do we see light.- Both John and Paul make the point of full purity and knowledge in God revealed in Christ, received by believers and reflected in their thoughts and walk.

Calming Storms and Drowning Demons

Mon, 12 Dec 2016 14:15 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Calming Storms and Drowning Demons
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 12/11/2016
Bible: Matthew 8:23-34
Length: 52 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Physically exhausted from the last two full days of ministry, Jesus slept on a cushion at the stern of the boat, when a furious gale-force wind steadily driving a deluge of rain threw the boat into a frenzy. They were all afraid, save One, who continued to sleep amidst the storm. Finally, the disciples awakened Jesus, who with calm assurance spoke to the waves and wind, and they immediately subsided and all became perfectly calm. The disciples- fear of the storm turned to awe as the man who they witnessed had authority over sickness also had authority over nature. Their response was an exclamation- -What sort of man is this--------Ironically their exclamatory query would soon be answered by the unlikeliest of sources. When the boat landed on the south shore of the Sea, Jesus and the disciples came to the land of Gedara where they met a storm of a different kind. Two men possessed with many demons were able to identify the sort of man they encountered. -What have you to do with us, O Son of God-- they bellowed. These demons knew things about Christ that even the weak-believing disciples did not yet know. In a vivid demonstration of power, Jesus drowned a legion of demons into the sea with a single word.----How does one respond to a sort of man who has authority over sickness, over nature, and over the angelic and demonic realm- The people of Gedara were so unnerved that they wanted Jesus to depart. The former demoniacs were sent back to their town to bear witness of the Lord-s work. What is your response to the One who even the wind and sea obeys-

The Song of Moses

Sun, 4 Dec 2016 20:12 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: The Song of Moses
Subtitle: Exodus
Speaker: Jim Montesano
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 12/4/2016
Bible: Exodus 15:1-21
Length: 45 min. (64kbps)

Overview: After being delivered from sure death by the hand of the Almighty Lord God, Moses and the people of Israel sang a song of praise------I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously- the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea. The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation- this is my God, and I will praise him, my father-s God, and I will exalt him.-----This is the first song sung in the Bible, but it will not be the last- songs of redemption are prevalent in Scripture. David sang a song of praise to the Lord near the end of his life, recorded in 2 Samuel chapter 22, praising the Lord for deliverance over his enemies.-----David spoke to the Lord the words of this song on the day when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. He said, -The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my savior- you save me from violence. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.-----In Isaiah chapter 42 another song is sung, a new song about the coming deliverance of the Israelites from Babylon, the lyrics of which are reminiscent of our text in Exodus 15. In response to God-s goodness in granting them a child, Hannah and Mary sing a song of praise to the Lord for giving them Samuel a prophet, and Jesus Christ, prophet, priest, and king, and the Savior of the world- Songs of praise continue to be sung by God-s people to this day. As believers, we have so much to be thankful for and therefore so much to sing about.

A Messiah who Costs Everything

Mon, 28 Nov 2016 01:13 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: A Messiah who Costs Everything
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 11/27/2016
Bible: Matthew 8:18-22
Length: 56 min. (64kbps)

Overview: The insertion of instruction on discipleship into the miracle narratives in chapter 8 points to the fact that faith in Jesus must be united with discipleship. Jesus did something deeper than heal - He made disciples.----In our text, first we read of a zealous scholar who makes a remarkable, resolute, ready, and unreserved offer to follow Jesus wherever he goes. The only thing more remarkable was Jesus- response to him, which seems to be opposite from what we might expect from someone recruiting followers. He tells the man, -the Son of man has nowhere to lay His head-- whatever one thinks of this reply, it is far from an enthusiastic exhortation for the man to follow.----A second man, -a timid son,- expresses a less-than-enthusiastic desire to follow Jesus, after he first buries his father. At first sight this appears to be a very legitimate priority- and that-s the point - that NOTHING - even the most legitimate of matters - ought to take priority over following Jesus. Rather than discouraging him, Jesus summons this timid son with a strong exhortation to forsake his familial obligation and follow Him.----There is something deeply significant in both replies- they show us that people who desire to follow Jesus ought to be warned plainly to count the cost before they begin to follow. Nothing has done more harm to the church than the practice of filling our pews with professors who have joined our ranks under a false pretense of glory without a cross. Let us keep nothing back from new believers- let us tell them plainly of the glorious destination- but no less plainly of the cross they must bear on the way.

He Came Down the Mountain

Mon, 14 Nov 2016 00:54 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: He Came Down the Mountain
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 11/13/2016
Bible: Matthew 8:1-17
Length: 54 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Having concluded recording the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew continues in chapters 8 and 9 to describe the events that follow, as Jesus comes down from the mountain where he taught. These chapters describe ten miracles that Jesus executed. The same Jesus who is the Preacher of the Sermon of the Mount, now cleanses a leper, heals a Centurion's servant, heals Peter-s mother-in-law, stills a storm, and casts out demons. One might be tempted to marginalize the valley of healings of an unnamed leper or demoniac, compared to the mountain top of ethical and spiritual teaching of Jesus- great sermon. After all doesn-t physical affliction pale in comparison to great spiritual truth- Yes - unless you-re the one who is afflicted- to the one afflicted, healing becomes very important. ----Jesus not only powerfully preaches on mountains, but He graciously heals in valleys. In chapters 8 and 9 we see the loving care of Shepherd Jesus for individual sheep. It is His tenderness and concern for individuals that actually embodies the words of the Sermon. We as a church, understanding the grace of Jesus and Christ and following after our Master, must not only seek to learn and apply the teachings of Jesus, but also regularly pray for and care for the sick. So as we come down from the mount of the sermon, to the valley of real suffering, may we be a known as a people of the book - both in our learning as well as in our mercy for those individuals who are in need around us.

Judgment and Salvation at the Red Sea

Mon, 7 Nov 2016 00:25 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Judgment and Salvation at the Red Sea
Subtitle: Exodus
Speaker: Jim Montesano
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 11/6/2016
Bible: Exodus 14:15-31
Length: 42 min. (64kbps)

Overview: We have reached the climax of Israel-s deliverance from Egypt. All that happened from the opening of the book of Exodus, when the Israelites were persecuted and made slaves, leads to this epic event on the edge of the wilderness of Egypt. In one miraculous act the Lord sets His covenant people free while finally judging Egypt for her sin against His people and their God, Yahweh. The Lord told Moses in verse 16 of chapter 14, -Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground.- Yahweh divided the Red Sea in this way so that He would be glorified in His action against Pharaoh and his army and charioteers - that all shall know once and for all that Yahweh is Lord- In verses 19-20 the angel of the Lord manifested in the pillar of cloud and fire, moved between the Egyptians and the Israelites so that the Lord-s people would be protected as Moses raised his staff- miraculously, the sea parted revealing the dry ground. Imagine the sight- the waters of the sea are described as walls on both sides of their passage- The Israelites, who by all accounts were two to three million, passed through the sea in a passage estimated to be a half-mile wide. The Lord is mighty to save and at times does so miraculously.----God-s people were saved as the Egyptians were held back by the pillar of cloud. After a while, as the children of Israel passed through the sea, the Egyptians were released to again pursue them. But the Lord threw the armies into confusion as they realized that they were fighting against Yahweh Himself -14-23-25-.

Two

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Two
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 10/30/2016
Bible: Matthew 7:13-29
Length: 56 min. (64kbps)

Overview: One can argue that the crowning creation of man is the computer. As complex as its function is, every computer exchanges and processes information using only the zeros and ones of a binary system. The computer's CPU only recognizes two states - on-off, yes-no, true-false - from which all of its complex logical and mathematical operations flow. Similarly God-s crowning creation, mankind, as complex as we are, function in essence on a series of binary decisions. In our text, Jesus begins by describing entry into the Christian life which occurs by a choice of one of two gates that open onto one of two roads. People must choose between entering through the wide gate onto a road of -whatever pleases you,- and a narrow gate, which leads to an uneasy road of self-denial. These two roads lead to two equal and opposite destinies - the narrow road to life, and the wide road to destruction. The sad truth is that most choose the wide gate and easy way, rather than Christ and the challenging course of a disciple. ----This binary system which separates the church from the world and true Christians from false, works within each of us, as well. Using the analogy of two houses, one built on sand and another built on a rock, Jesus again shows that there are but two ways to live the Christian life. One who hears the word and acts on it, while the other hears the word but does nothing. Once the storms and trials of life hit, again the binary sequence leads to a binary result - a house that stands and a house that falls. ----Which road are you on- What kind of fruit are you producing- What foundation are you living on-

Event: Sunday Service
Date: 10/16/2016
Bible: 1 John 5:13
Length: 55 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Toward the end of his record of the Gospel, the Apostle John makes his purpose clear- that the hearer may -believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name- -John 20-31-. Some years later, the same apostle would pen a few letters to Christian churches. In the first letter, he gives an equally clear purpose statement- -I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.-----The similarity between the Gospel According to John and the First Epistle of John is found in the centering of each book on the person and work of Jesus Christ and a desire to connect Christ-s nature and work to the reception of eternal life in his name. The difference between the two books, while subtle, is found when considering John-s audience and how that audience relates to eternal life- in his Gospel, John writes primarily to an unregenerate audience so they may believe and have eternal life, and in his first epistle, John writes to a regenerate audience so they will know that they have eternal life.----This distinction tells us that it is possible to have eternal life yet struggle with assurance. Such was the case for John-s targeted audience for his first epistle. Many of these believers had given up much to follow Christ. During the short course of their journey, they witnessed apostasy- people whom they thought were fellow believers, with whom they fellowshipped and worshiped, fell away from the faith. All this led to many questions. Did Christ really come in the flesh- Do we really have eternal life- Is this faith worth dying for-

Bible: Matthew 7:12
Length: 56 min. (32kbps)

Overview: This week we will pause our exposition in the Sermon of the Mount to consider one single verse, which if we put into regular application, will without question transform all of our human relationships. When there is doubt as to how you ought to treat your family, friends, neighbors or brethren in Christ, the application of this one -golden rule- will guide you into the right and proper action. This rule is not to be mistaken to suggest that we are to treat others well so that they may treat us better in return- but we are to obey this command because such conduct is the goal of the Law and the Prophets.----I could not improve on the words of J.C. Ryle, who writes on this text-----He lays down a general principle for our guidance in all doubtful questions between man and man. We are -to do to others as we would have others do to us.- We are not to deal with others as others deal with us. This is mere selfishness and heathenism. We are to deal with others as we would like others to deal with us. This is real Christianity.

Overview: The Israelites were rescued from their Egyptian oppressors by God-s mighty hand- but as the exodus narrative continues in chapter 14, we again witness the Lord-s judgment and salvation, as for one last time Pharaoh and Egypt come against Israel and her Lord. While chapter 14 is one story, we will look at in two parts - first, chapter 14-1-14 and next time, verses15-31.----The narrative begins with the Lord saying to Moses, -turn back and encamp facing the sea.- The Israelites were heading northeast when they were instructed to turn around and go south to the sea, thus hemming them in. The Lord-s purpose for this instruction is expressed in verse 4- -And I will harden Pharaoh-s heart, and he will pursue them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord.- Finally Moses gives the Israelites and us what we need to hear- -Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.- -14-13-14-. The Lord is a mighty warrior who will fight for you, brethren. So fear not- Stand firm- And see the salvation of the Lord for the Lord will fight for you- The Lord will be glorified in the defeat of the Egyptians and Satan, for salvation is of the Lord-

Bible: Matthew 7:7-11
Length: 49 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Ask and it shall be given to you - -Mt 7-7-----This three-fold command to ask, seek, and knock, is short and simple, but what is most magnificent is the manifold response of God our Father to our asking. The main point that Jesus is teaching in this section is that God is a good and gracious Father who readily answers our prayers. Jesus could not make it any easier for us - He promises us a fruitful audience with our omnipotent Father. -Everyone who asks receives- -7-8-. Prayer is a privilege reserved for God-s children that unfortunately many neglect. Given this magnificent invitation by the sovereign of all to come to Him and ask for good things, it is incomprehensible that we so regularly turn away in favor or frivolous activities. We carry around burdens- we are anxious- we lose sleep as we mull over our earthly cares- we forfeit our peace- and all the while God promises to give good things to those who ask Him- Isn-t it about time that we believe the promise of God and ask Him- He will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known -Jer 33-3-.

Pillar of Cloud and Fire - The Lord Leads

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details: Title: Pillar of Cloud and Fire - The Lord Leads Subtitle: Exodus Speaker: Jim Montesano Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship Event: Sunday Service Date: 9/4/2016 Bible: Exodus 13:17-22 Length: 57 min. (64kbps) Overview: The Israelites are finally leaving Egypt. The Lord repeatedly called Pharaoh to, -let my people go,- but it took His judgment in ten devastating plagues upon the Egyptians to bring Pharaoh to the place where he finally submitted to God and let them go -13-17-. In our text, as the Israelites march out of Egypt we see three things revealed to us about the Lord.----First, God leads the Israelites -13-17-18-. Though there was a quicker route to get to the Promised Land, God led them in another direction for their own good. God knew that they were not ready to inherit the land, so He led the people -by way of the wilderness of the Red Sea.- Likewise in our lives, often we want to travel the direct route, and while the final destination may indeed be God-s will for us, we often need to learn as we travel a longer route to get there.----Second, God is faithful to Joseph -13-19-. Moses took the bones of Joseph with them as they left Egypt. In this one short verse we learn that God is faithful- He kept His promise as Joseph-s remains went with His people to the Promised Land. He was faithful to Joseph and He will be faithful to you if you are His child.----Third, the Lord goes before his people guiding them day and night. -13-21-22-. -And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to guide them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from before the people.- What an awesome display of God-s glory as His p[...]

Messiah on Judging Others

Tue, 23 Aug 2016 15:54 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Messiah on Judging Others
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 8/21/2016
Bible: Matthew 7:1-6
Length: 55 min. (64kbps)

Overview: In our fallen condition, there are certain dangers that accompany the high standard of righteousness that we are called to by Christ. The first danger is that of hypocrisy. In chapter 6, Jesus warns against hypocrisy by contrasting the heart motives of His kingdom subjects with those of hypocrites who desired for their good works to be seen by men -6-1-18-. ----In our text chapter 7, Jesus warns against another danger, judgmentalism, which breeds in human depravity, as God calls His people to perfection. Sadly, Matthew 7-1 is one of the most misunderstood texts of Scripture. It is often quoted by sinners seeking to escape the guilt of sin, which the law instigates. But at its core, this injunction on judgment reveals the heart of God to bless the merciful -5-7-, as well as reveal how, as truly righteous kingdom citizens, we ought to eschew anger -5-21-26-, revenge -5-38-42- and hatred -5-43-47-. As was said, -faults are thick where love is thin.- The judgment that Jesus forbids is that which pretends to know God-s verdict on another person-s life- it manifests as we underestimate the magnitude of our own sins and overestimate the size of others-. The sanction, -judge not,- comes to mean -judge yourselves first and most rigorously- -Mt 7-2-5-.

Redeemed for a price

Sun, 7 Aug 2016 20:36 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Redeemed for a price
Subtitle: Exodus
Speaker: Jim Montesano
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 8/7/2016
Bible: Exodus 13:1-2; 11-16
Length: 44 min. (64kbps)

Overview: -Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, -Consecrate to Me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and beast- it is Mine-- -13-1-2-. The word -consecrate- in the original is -Kadash,- meaning -to be set apart,- in this context, unto the Lord. Interestingly in verses 11-16, Moses gives us further insight on the firstborn, as all of the firstborn animals were to be given to God as a sacrificial offering upon entering the Promised Land. But one animal, the donkey, along with man, was singled out to be redeemed. Redemption is costly. There was a price paid at the Passover - the life of an unblemished Lamb and the redemption price of the firstborn consecrated to the Lord. All this points to the firstborn of all creation -Col 1-15-, Jesus Christ, who paid the ultimate price for our redemption -Mt 20-28-, giving His very life so that we may live with Him -1Th 5-10-

Knowing Christ - A Lifelong Pursuit for Every Christian

Mon, 1 Aug 2016 03:13 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Knowing Christ - A Lifelong Pursuit for Every Christian
Subtitle: BOL Internal Speaker
Speaker: Elias Adamo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 7/31/2016
Bible: Philippians 3:8-16
Length: 63 min. (64kbps)

Overview: As you read through this short epistle to the Philippians, the theme of joy becomes apparent. The word joy is mentioned 5x and rejoice-rejoicing 7x. In verse one of this chapter, Paul seems to be closing out the letter as he writes, -Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord..-- but then, seemingly changing course, he gives a word of warning against the Judaizers. -As you recall, they are the ones that the Jerusalem council addressed in Acts 15 and Paul also in his epistle to the Galatians. They insisted that the Gentile believers keep the Old Testament ceremonial laws, starting especially with the law of circumcision.-----But on closer examination, we can see the link between his warning about these false teachers and the theme of his epistle- namely joy. Nothing would rob a Christian more of his joy in Christ and the assurance of his salvation, than the thought that he needs to add his own works to Christ-s work on the cross in order to be accepted with God.----Paul uses his own testimony to refute these false teachers- and in so doing, he gives us one of the most beautiful passages on what it means to believe in Christ and what we are to aim for as we live out our Christian faith.

The Causes and Cure of Anxiety

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 05:00 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details: Title: The Causes and Cure of Anxiety Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship Event: Sunday Service Date: 7/17/2016 Bible: Matthew 6:19-34 Length: 53 min. (64kbps) Overview: Two storehouses--Two eyes--Two masters--Two kinds of people -pagans vs. disciples-----It is the normal human tendency to try to accumulate material objects and net worth on earth. As we amass wealth, we can see and enjoy our earthly comforts with our natural senses- however Jesus admonishes us not to store up earthly treasure, but rather to seek to make deposits in an invisible heavenly account, where it is not only secure from the elements, but it will accumulate genuine benefits. Even in the best investments on earth, all material objects will ultimately be lost.--Since serving God necessarily rules out serving money, it follows that, as a result, the one who serves God can trust God-s promise that they need not be anxious about anything - even the most basic things which money buys - food and clothing. The practical application of serving God and living for invisible, eternal treasures is that we know by faith that God will meet all of our physical needs as we set our priorities on His kingdom and righteousness. If we serve money, we walk by sight trusting in what is seen, but if we serve God, we walk by faith that God is just and will rightly recompense those who lay up their treasure in heaven. Where does your eye, your heart, your treasure lie-[...]

Deathbed Questions

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 05:07 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details: Title: Deathbed Questions Subtitle: Proverbs Speaker: Damien Garofalo Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship Event: Sunday Service Date: 6/26/2016 Bible: Proverbs 30:1-9 Length: 57 min. (64kbps) Overview: For millennia, the impending doom of death has haunted many people. Some of gone through great lengths to avoid it while others tend to ignore it. In their quest for knowledge of the future, some people wish to know the day of their own death. Very few, however, attain this insight. The deathbed, or winding down of one-s earthly existence, is often seen as a place of misery and sorrow. But, we must also consider it a place of mercy. Why- Not everyone is afforded the opportunity to still be alive and yet see death in the near future and thus contemplate about the big issues of life. Instead, many are taken into eternity without any warning.----In Proverbs chapter 30, we encounter a man who is coming to the end of his life. He indicates in verse 1 that he was very weary, and he asks for some final requests in verse 7 before his death. Admittedly, we know very little about this man, Agur, and we can-t be sure how close he was to his actual death. However, we know that he tried to attain the wisdom spoken of in Proverbs, and as he thinks about the end, he takes inventory. We the readers are blessed to read his account, for it sets in order the priorities of life. In fact, it helps us see the most important thing about being human at the end of the day - to know God-[...]

Our Father (The Lord's Prayer)

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 03:19 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details: Title: Our Father (The Lord's Prayer) Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship Event: Sunday Service Date: 6/19/2016 Bible: Matthew 6:5-15 Length: 65 min. (64kbps) Overview: The Lord-s Prayer is the Christian-s daily companion and prayerbook. In it we have Jesus- own priorities in prayer- through it we are assured that prayers circling these six petitions are prayers according to the will of God and so, surely are heard. It is a short prayer, but when chewed like a cud can fill several good minutes. It can be prayed word for word or thought by thought. After each day-s Scripture reading or church message the great terms of the Lord-s Prayer can be freshly defined by the themes of the day-s text- for example, the name, the kingdom and the will of God would be, respectively, the Lord, the doctrine, and the ethic of the biblical text. The bread for which we pray is the creaturely material in the text. The failures for which we pray forgiveness are the sins revealed in the text, and the temptations from which we pray deliverance are the dangers revealed in the text.----We are able to contribute, even from afar, to the feeding of the billions. We are empowered to ask for and receive remission of sins for many and to pray even for common Christian forgiveness in everyday reconciliations. We are also able to pray for the rescue of Christiandom from its omnipresent dangers and its hereditary foe. T[...]

Hypocrites Unmasked

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 04:19 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Hypocrites Unmasked
Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew
Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo
Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 6/12/2016
Bible: Matthew 6:1-6;16-18
Length: 59 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Human beings are designed for good deeds. It-s part of God-s original creation that we love Him by loving others. But as a result of the fall, we have this natural bent to want to be noticed for our good deeds. We see this in children who say, -watch me,- as they attempt something new and in their mind, extravagant, in order to gain the attention of their parents. It is right to do good works, but it is wrong to do them in such a way that they are done to gain the attention of others. On Sunday we will examine Jesus-s three model examples of righteous deeds done to others -charity-, to God -prayer- and to one-s self -fasting-- He will teach us the right and wrong way to go about all three.

Deliverance! The Exodus begins!

Sun, 5 Jun 2016 21:01 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details: Title: Deliverance! The Exodus begins! Subtitle: Exodus Speaker: Jim Montesano Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship Event: Sunday Service Date: 6/5/2016 Bible: Exodus 12:29-42 Length: 37 min. (64kbps) Overview: It-s been some four hundred years that the Israelites have been held in bondage in Egypt. After many years in misery, they cried out to God and the LORD heard their cries and remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. That said, their deliverance would come in God-s time and in God-s will. At the set time, and after many plagues upon Egypt, God directed Moses to prepare for the final plague and the exodus to come. Our text opens with the tenth and final plague falling upon the firstborn of all, except those houses and people who were covered by the blood of the Passover lamb. It was a night of judgment but also a night of deliverance. God in His providence displayed His massive power upon Egypt and brought Egypt to its knees, but He also powerfully demonstrated His sovereign grace upon His people. All was done according to His will and in His time.----In our text, we see God-s Word come true in the lives of Egypt and the Israelites. First, the LORD judged Egypt- second, the LORD delivered His people- third, the LORD gave favor to the ones He delivered- and fourth, the LORD watched over those He delivered.[...]

I Say Unto You 5: Love

Mon, 23 May 2016 04:48 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Bread of Life Fellowship is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details: Title: I Say Unto You 5: Love Subtitle: Messiah in Matthew Speaker: Pastor Joseph LoSardo Broadcaster: Bread of Life Fellowship Event: Sunday Service Date: 5/22/2016 Bible: Matthew 5:38-48 Length: 63 min. (64kbps) Overview: The Lord Jesus enjoins on us a spirit of universal love and charity. We ought to put away all malice. We ought to return good for evil, and blessing for cursing. We ought to -love even our enemies.- Moreover we are not to love in word only, but in deed. We are to deny ourselves, and take trouble, in order to be kind and courteous. If any man -compels you to go one mile, go with him two.- We are to put up with much and bear much, rather than hurt another, or give offence. In all things we are to be unselfish. Our thought must never be, -how do others behave to me-- but -what would Christ have me to do------A standard of conduct like this may seem, at first sight, extravagantly high. But we must never content ourselves with aiming at one lower. We must observe the two weighty arguments by which our Lord backs up this part of His instruction. They deserve serious attention. For one thing, if we do not aim at the spirit and temper which are here recommended, we are not yet children of God. Our -Father in heaven- is kind to all. He sends rain on good and on evil alike. He causes -His sun- to shine [...]
