The best birthday gift, ever

Maggie Smith said this world, despite everything, has good bones. Is beautiful. I have to believe her. Sometimes, though, you have to lie to yourself. Sometimes, you have to pray to a god you don't believe in. Every

“If you cannot thoroughly eradicate corrupt opinions or cure long-standing evils to your own satisfaction, that is still no reason to abandon the commonwealth, deserting the ship in a storm because you cannot control the winds. You should not din into people’s ears odd & peculiar language which you know will have no effect on those who believe otherwise, but rather by indirection you

"I sat with him for a few hours when he was in treatment just outside New York,” said McCartney. “He was about 10 days away from his death, as I recall. We joked about things – just amusing, nutty stuff. It was good. It was like we were dreaming. He was my little baby brother, almost, because I’d known him that long.” “We held hands. Last night

2015-11-15T14:43:52.552-05:00

The drugstore was full, at that hour, of people who wouldn't move out of the way. A Saturday evening spent searching, in vain, for a solution to my incessantly, itchy legs. An itch so incessant, that at night, I swear, I feel like I could scratch my skin off. Three crows perched on the garage roof, gossiping amongst themselves. No other sound on this grey October day, just the harsh, edged sound of crows being crows. I cannot tell a lie to myself or anyone
