Worship & Prayer, Not Robbery & Greed

Mon, 20 Nov 2017 16:51 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Millbrook Presbyterian Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Worship & Prayer, Not Robbery & Greed
Subtitle: Walk with the Master
Speaker: Rev. Brannon Bowman
Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 11/5/2017
Bible: Mark 11:15-19
Length: 31 min. (64kbps)

Overview: This passage is often reduced to an essay about righteous indignation, the fact that Jesus was no wimp, and that anger is no sin when it is prompted by an offence to the glory of God.--But, what was the greatest concern of the Savior- The way priests washed their hands- The number of steps allowable on the Sabbath- No, His concern was the heart. Particularly the hearts of the people and their leaders in what was set apart as the house of God.--But here's what I want to concentrate on and it's this A in the cleansing of the temple, Jesus is indicating that His people are in the grip of the sin of religious hypocrisy. They gather for public worship, they go through the motions of worshipping the living God, but they do not live in such a way to indicate that theyAre really worshipping the living God.--They show up and busy themselves in the activities of the temple. They rush and hurry and not only fail to worship but they prevent others.

Overview: What does Jesus find when He looks upon His church today- Across the country and around the world- Sure. But how about right here- Will he find a tree that is full of leaves but devoid of fruit- A church that esteems entertainment and personal satisfaction higher than worship and sacrifice- A spiritual massage and a pious spa for a few moments-----Francis Schaeffer said were the two great values that shape our culture A still valid today. And they are personal peace A ADon't bother me. Leave me alone. Don't involve me.A And affluence A AGive me more, more, more of what I want.A----Will He find comfortable business or mountain moving faith- Will He find the chaotic busy-ness of the money changers or the sweat and labor of prayer, meditation in the word- Men and women who wake each morning and trust in the Lord with all their hearts, leaning not on their own understanding, acknowledging God in all their ways-

To Serve and to Give

Wed, 18 Oct 2017 02:05 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Millbrook Presbyterian Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: To Serve and to Give
Subtitle: Walk with the Master
Speaker: Rev. Brannon Bowman
Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 10/8/2017
Bible: Mark 10:32-45
Length: 36 min. (64kbps)

Overview: This is a passage of great contrast A a picture of servanthood and a picture of what it is not. If our Savior was a servant A then how do we dare seek a different path-----We begin with the amazement of followers A Jesus was resolute A something in the eyes, the walk, the steadfast way Jesus advanced to Jerusalem. He had spoken about His purpose in going there.----Jesus is teaching them A and teaching us A the true nature of love. Sure the disciples had great fondness for Jesus. They had some appreciation of each other. Jesus knew their hearts as He knows ours. We cannot look at this passage without seeing the magnitude of ChristAs love.----Imagine for a moment A you have not heard the story of Jesus. You are hearing it from Him, as it is happening. The betrayal, the mockery, the brutal physical assault, the crucifixion, the death. With each detail, with wide eyes, you ask AWhy-A Why not continue this ministry- Healing, traveling, teaching- Why the brutality- Why the cross-----Because, says our Savior, because I love you and this is how much. The teaching, the healing, the fellowship, A it would all be for nothing if I left you in your sin. Your debt unpaid. Your punishment untaken. Why- Because all that made Calvary a horror would be yours if I did not take it. Why- Because my love, the love of the Father A it is that great-

The Greatness of Nobodies

Mon, 28 Aug 2017 22:28 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Millbrook Presbyterian Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: The Greatness of Nobodies
Subtitle: Walk with the Master
Speaker: Rev. Brannon Bowman
Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 8/20/2017
Bible: Mark 9:30-37
Length: 20 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Two lessons A a follower of Christ is a servant. A Christian embraces the call of service. To be a nobody. To wash feet when others avoid making eye contact lest the job fall to them. To bear patiently with others, to love with selflessness, to give sacrificially to others. To be unremembered and uncelebrated in this world. It is enough that our Father in heaven smiles. He sees. ----Secondly, we Christian nobodies pay attention to nobodies. We must love as Jesus loved. Who did He give His time and attention to- He came to seek and save the lost. The weary and heavy-laden. He came for Mary Magdalene, the woman of Samaria with a string of husbands, the small tax collector Zacchaeus, and Peter, the man who seemed to always have the wrong words for any occasion.----Then, Christians, what is a great church- One whose pews are full of this worldAs nobodies A each loved by the nobody sitting next to them and praising God with all their hearts, for knowing me, for paying attention to me, for loving me A an unloveable nobody.

Get Thee Behind Me, Satan

Wed, 2 Aug 2017 04:41 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Millbrook Presbyterian Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Get Thee Behind Me, Satan
Subtitle: Walk with the Master

Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 7/23/2017
Bible: Mark 8:31-33
Length: 34 min. (64kbps)

Overview: As Jesus teaches His disciples that He is the Messiah, it becomes apparent to them that He is not the type of Messiah they were expecting. When Jesus explains that He will be falsely accused and put to death, Peter pulls Him aside to rebuke Him. To this, Jesus responds, -Get thee behind Me, Satan.-----In His love for us, Jesus would not be detoured from His appointment with the cross. He would accomplish, perfectly, the Father's work for our salvation.

Overview: Jesus engages His disciples in conversation and instruction. During the course of this discussion, He asks two key questions.----1. Who do people say that I am-----2. Who do YOU say that I am-----To answer the first, you have to know people - you have to involve yourselves in their lives and talk to them about Jesus.----To answer the second, you have to know Jesus - you have to wrestle with the truth of God's grace incarnate. ----Both questions are important. But, the second truly carries the weight of eternity with it.

Overview: Several problems arise from legalism and the elevation of traditions to the level of scripture. Fatal problems. There are several causes of such an approach to God---1. We think too little of God's Word.--2. We think too little of true worship.--3. We think too little of sin.--4. Bottom line, we think too little of God.

What They Saw at Sea

Tue, 11 Jul 2017 19:11 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Millbrook Presbyterian Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: What They Saw at Sea
Subtitle: Walk with the Master
Speaker: Rev. Brannon Bowman
Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 7/11/2017
Bible: Mark 6:44-51
Length: 33 min. (64kbps)

Overview: What question comes to mind when we encounter this trouble- What did I do wrong- What did I do to deserve this trial- Romans 3 A All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. We think about the storm on the sea that threatened to destroy the boat and crew that was transporting Jonah to Tarshish. His sin A his disobedience A the reason for the storm. But, all trials are not the consequence of particular sins. In this case, the disciples find themselves in trouble as they obey Jesus. He made them get in the boat, remember-----The lesson is clear A to follow Jesus is to know trouble in this world. This is contrary to the very popular teaching of many throughout history. We want to hear a different message.

Bible: Mark 6:30-44
Length: 32 min. (64kbps)

Overview: One of the most familiar stories from the life of Jesus. One of 2 miracles recorded in all four Gospels A the feeding of the 5000-the resurrection is the other miracle recorded in all four-. ----The thousands come to Jesus, He doesnAt scold them or send them away. Literally, v34, His heart went out to them A He was moved in His inner being. As Isaiah wrote in chapter 53, verse 4 - Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows. ----Jesus teaches them. Sent with Authority

Title: Sent with Authority
Subtitle: Walk with the Master
Speaker: Rev. Brannon Bowman
Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 5/7/2017
Bible: Mark 6:7-13
Length: 31 min. (64kbps)

Overview: There would come a day when Jesus would not physically be with His disciples. They needed to be ready. Jesus was building His church. These ordinary men would be the means by which He did so. Much about these young men was immature and imperfect. They were untried men with a limited grasp of who Christ was. They had a poor understanding of themselves. TheyAd never preached a sermon.----Praise God, the spread of the gospel doesnAt depend on our perfection or our merit but on the call of Christ, and obedience to that call and the equipping of Christ. If God can use a reluctant disobedient man like Jonah, He can surely use me. ----These disciples still had much to learn, but they already had much to give.

Title: New Life and Healing
Subtitle: Walk with the Master

Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 4/23/2017
Bible: Mark 5:21-43
Length: 36 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Our Savior encounters two significant events in this passage. One event is chronic. It has been going on 12 years. How easy would it have been to lose hope- This woman had no contact with other people. She could not go to the synagogue. We was unclean. But, she comes to Jesus and He -not His clothes- makes her clean.----The other event - the illness and death of Jairus's daughter is quite acute. How easy would it have been to get overwhelmed in the thrashing and panic of that moment- Can you imagine the despair of Jairus when he heard that his little girl was dead-----But, in both cases, Christ is sovereign. He does not grow weary in doing good and He is not overcome when the storms of life rage-

This Jesus

Tue, 2 May 2017 15:30 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Millbrook Presbyterian Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: This Jesus
Subtitle: Easter Sunday 2017
Speaker: Rev. Brannon Bowman
Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 4/16/2017
Bible: Acts 2:22-41
Length: 36 min. (64kbps)

Overview: The undeniable Christ-focus of this sermon. It is all about Jesus. Our words, our life, our messages, our lessons, A Without Christ, we have nothing to offer. Without Christ, we are pitiful. Without Christ, we are wasting our time. AThis JesusAA This, specific Jesus. Not the politically correct, redefined, neutralized Jesus which is culturally palatable. The Jesus of GodAs Word. Jesus, as He is, not as we might like to imagine.----We are told about ChristAs posture, that in fact he is sitting at the right hand of God, in other words, he has completed the work of atonement. In both the earthly tabernacle and earthly temple there was not a single chair. There were lamps and tables and altars and curtains, but no chairs because when priests were on duty they had no time to sit down. There were always more sinners coming with their animals to be sacrificed and with the confessions of their sins, seeking advice for their pardon. The priests had no time to stand and stare let alone sit down. But now God says to his Son, AYou have finished the work of redemption. Sit at my right hand side-A Have we all come to appreciate this, that the saving suffering work of Christ is all over- That God has accepted all that his Son has done, and so now he exalts him.----The message of God is not to be received with complacency, with non-chalance. We are not to receive it, even, with intellectual amusement. It calls for response. Honest response is to love it or hate it. I would that you were either hot or cold A be done with the lukewarm nonsense.

How does Jesus heal this man- How does Jesus heal us- By becoming this man. By being broken. By being abandoned. He became bound and bloody and was left in the place of the dead. He breaks the power of sin, of death, of misery, of the devil A for us.----And, to us He says A v19 - -Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.A

Listen Carefully to the Word

Mon, 3 Apr 2017 15:23 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Millbrook Presbyterian Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Listen Carefully to the Word
Subtitle: Walk with the Master
Speaker: Rev. Brannon Bowman
Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 3/26/2017
Bible: Mark 4:21-34
Length: 35 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Imagine the scene that day. The teaming masses of men and women crowding Jesus. They have heard about His teaching. The stories of His healing are all anyone is talking about these days. Hundreds, probably thousands, have come to see Jesus. It wasnAt in a concert hall, a sanctuary, or an auditorium. This assembly was out the open. The crowds are closing in around Jesus. So, He steps onto a boat and has it pushed a bit away from the shore. This builds some buffer. It also provided a bit of amplification. If you have ever been on a body of water, you know that voices carry. So, on the smelly stage of a working fishermanAs boat, Jesus teaches. And, here He tells a story A we call it a parable.----Again, the word AparableA itself means to cast alongside. A parable is a story used to teach. It is cast alongside the plain instruction. It is a powerful way of teaching. ALet me tell you a storyA are six words that open wide doors for preachers and speakers. When teaching, I find that pens are set down, eyes come up, and students listen when the lecture moves from a point by point lesson to a story. Stories come in under the radar. Our defenses are down. We listen and the picture is painted with characters, places, and actions. ----A parable is Aan earthly story with a heavenly meaning.A----Jesus, on the boat with waves gently lapping against the shore, tells us a story.----The parable does not call us to look into the heart of another and discern the soil before casting the seed. Jesus says, AA sower went out to and as he sowedAA The seed is plentiful. Cast it.----But, we must do a soil analysis in our own heart.

If you have ever been on a body of water, you know that voices carry. So, on the smelly stage of a working fishermanAs boat, Jesus teaches. And, here He tells a story A we call it a parable.----A parable is Aan earthly story with a heavenly meaning.A----There are three types of soil -picture of the human heart- in which the seed -the Word of God- does not grow. When the seed falls upon hardened hearts -the pathway in the parable-, it lies dormant on the surface. Roots donAt sink in. It leaves no mark at all. Sometimes the seed finds rocky, shallow soil. It is met with temporary enthusiasm but this quickly fades. Sometimes thorns -worldly concerns and cares- choke out the work of the seed. But, by GodAs grace, many times the Word finds fertile, rich hearts and take deep root. Praise God- It is then that the harvest is great-----The perfect example of the sower is Jesus. But, we are called to sow the seed of the Word liberally. The seed is powerful. We are going to meet with many Afailures.A But, we are called to faithfulness in casting the seed. We look to the Lord and give Him the glory for the harvest -I Corinthians 3-7-.

A pastoral warning to all who sit week in and week out in church A who have tasted of heavenly thingsA and then walk away to chase the desires of this world and then grievously resist and deny the Holy Spirit. Twelve Unlikely Men

Mon, 6 Mar 2017 15:50 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Millbrook Presbyterian Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Twelve Unlikely Men
Subtitle: Walk with the Master
Speaker: Rev. Brannon Bowman
Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 2/12/2017
Bible: Mark 3:13-19
Length: 41 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Discipleship works most essentially through instruction and imitation. Discipleship works best through love. As we lovingly instruct younger believers in the way of godliness and live commendable lives, they grow in Christlikeness by imitating our life and doctrine. The Bible teaches us that discipleship is to be our pattern - ABe imitators of me, as I am of ChristA -1 Cor. 11-1-- ARemember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faithA -Heb. 13-7-- AWhat you have learned and received and heard and seen in meApractice these things, and the God of peace will be with youA -Phil. 4-9-- --AYou, however, have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, my persecutions and sufferingsA -2 Tim. 3-10-- ABeloved, do not imitate evil, but imitate goodA -3 John 11-.----Discipleship is one of the things a church MUST do. We must accurately and practically teach the Word of God to the people of God. Our end in this ministry is that the Church family would develop and grow in a comprehensive Christian outlook on life. Through the lens of the Word, we must equip our families for service, worship, evangelism, and all types of ministry. In accordance with Deuteronomy 6, we are to teach in a variety of ways. Sunday school, small groups, home studies, sermons, and group studies are all opportunities to teach GodAs people. Further, all ministry events ought to be imbued with instruction. This is true discipleship. As the disciples learned while they walked with Jesus, so ought our brothers and sisters learn as we walk together.

Withered Hands and Withered Hearts in the House of God

Wed, 15 Feb 2017 13:19 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Millbrook Presbyterian Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Withered Hands and Withered Hearts in the House of God
Subtitle: Walk with the Master
Speaker: Rev. Brannon Bowman
Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 2/5/2017
Bible: Mark 3:1-6
Length: 37 min. (64kbps)

Overview: I. The value and necessity of the local church has always been under attack. While I would like to say that today is unique, it has always been the case. What is true of today is that it is viewed as a consumer good. We shop for churches. We covet upgrades like the newest iPhone. We criticize, critique, and find fault. Churches appear on yelp next to restaurants, stores, and plumbers.----II. Wherever we go, whatever we do, we must always remember that, like our Master, we are Amarked- men and women. Our actions are watched. We must exercise a holy diligence over all our conduct, that we do nothing to give the enemy cause to accuse. We must avoid even the -appearance of evil.-----III. It was the consistent practice of our Savior to be in the synagogue on the Sabbath -Luke 4-16-. Though there were many problems with religious leadership in that day, Jesus did not forsake the assembly -Hebrews 10-25-. Worship in the house of God must be precious to us because it is precious to Jesus.----IV. Jesus sympathized with the man with the withered hand. He healed him. He dealt with the immediate needs -hunger, healing, A- because He is full of compassion. Note, though, that the Lord did not come first of all to deal with diseases of the body but with sin in the heart. This is seen in His reaction to the hardness in the hearts of the Pharisees. ----V. Christians will always be the objects of accusation and wicked plotting. As wicked men sought to do evil to Jesus, so also will they seek to bring down His followers -John 15-18-. In this world there will be MANY troubles. However, we rejoice and donAt despair for Jesus has overcome the world -John 16-33-.

God's Gift of the Sabbath

Tue, 14 Feb 2017 13:44 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Millbrook Presbyterian Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: God's Gift of the Sabbath
Subtitle: Walk with the Master
Speaker: Rev. Brannon Bowman
Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 1/29/2017
Bible: Mark 2:23-28
Length: 33 min. (64kbps)

Overview: The Lord did not create the Sabbath for His own sake, but for the man and woman He had created. The Sabbath was for their happiness, joy and refreshment. God didnAt need it. He doesnAt need to rest or sleep. The Lord Jesus wasnAt tired after six days of creating. The Sabbath is GodAs gift to us.----If we are to use the Bible as Jesus did, we must know it well and be acquainted with all its contents. So, we must read it diligently, humbly, perseveringly, and prayerfully. Then, we will find its texts coming to our aid in the time of need. This understanding does not come to man by intuition. The Bible is of no value if it is left always lying on a shelf, or carelessly looked at now and then. We must hide GodAs Word in our heart that we might not sin against Him -Psalm 119-11-.---- Jesus, as Lord of the Sabbath, is sovereign over our days, over our work, over our rest, over our worship, A This means that our obedience is to be governed, not by rigid -or grudging- adherence to our interpretation of the Aletter of the law,A but by understanding and applying GodAs heart and Spirit in the law. We must take care not to Astrain at a gnat and swallow a camelA -Matthew 23-24-

Why Life Matters

Mon, 13 Feb 2017 20:44 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Millbrook Presbyterian Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Why Life Matters
Subtitle: Special Topics
Speaker: Rev. Brannon Bowman
Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 1/22/2017
Bible: Psalm 8
Length: 40 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Sanctity of Human Life Sunday----How do we love life- Boldly speaking for those who canAt speak. Self-sacrificially loving women who find themselves in unbelievable difficult circumstances. Pursuing as a church and as churches together alternatives, support, adoption options, love, compassion. To tell them when they find themselves abandoned and believe that no one cares. God cares. Then show them that God cares in how you care.----We must embrace this simple yet far-reaching truth, we cannot worship and glorify God and, at the same time, treat His image-bearing creation with contempt. If we say we love God and we do not love our neighbor -men, women, children- then we show that our profession of love for God is simply a lie -I John 4-20-.

He was not following in their practices. They were jealous A of his popularity, of the crowds.----But, if you are in Christ you are a new creation A not an old wineskin. The old things have passed away. They are not patched up. The new wine is in a new wineskin.--In this we rejoice. We donAt grumble, murmur, nitpick, or accuse. We are united A always with the bridegroom who sought us out and brought us home. ----We are his and He is ours. Let us rejoice-

Right Question, Wrong Answer

Wed, 21 Dec 2016 13:43 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Millbrook Presbyterian Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Right Question, Wrong Answer
Subtitle: Walk with the Master
Speaker: Rev. Brannon Bowman
Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 12/18/2016
Bible: Mark 2:1-12
Length: 31 min. (64kbps)

Overview: This beautiful account teaches us so much...--It is a message about missions A the four men bringing their friend to Jesus. He cannot get there himself. They carry him. They bring him to the door. But, they canAt get in. Then, they get bold. They will not be denied. They climb up on the roof and begin to dig through the roof. They get him to Jesus.----It is a message about our greatest human need. To be known fully A better than we know ourselves A and to be loved in spite of all that is known. To be loved by God. To be called His son, His daughter. To be loved with a love that will not let you go. Nothing is needed more than that. Not even walking.----It is a message about the reality of sin. Martyn Lloyd Jones, describing this reality, said that sin is the only real problem that God has had to deal with in creation. He writesA ASuch is the problem with which we are confronted. There is in us, in man, this terrible, mighty power called AsinA which alienates us from God and leads us to hate Him, and at the same time debases us and leads us to conduct which can only be described as disgusting.A----It is a message about compassion and grace. How is it that this manAs sins are forgiven- Nowhere do we find the doctrine of sins being forgiven without repentance. There is no cry from the man to have mercy. No spoken confession. No cry of repentance. The answer must be that Jesus also knew, in the heart of this poor creature lowered into His presence, that there was repentance, that there was a desire to be cleansed of his sins. Probably not well-developed or thoroughly thought through. But, it must be there. Be encouragedA Jesus stands ready to forgive.

What Is This, Jesus?

Wed, 7 Dec 2016 19:48 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Millbrook Presbyterian Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: What Is This, Jesus?
Subtitle: Walk with the Master
Speaker: Rev. Brannon Bowman
Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 12/4/2016
Bible: Mark 1:21-28
Length: 36 min. (64kbps)

Overview: A-Those who listened to Jesus were literally dumbfounded. Amazement and wonder filled their minds as they listened to the proclamation of the Savior. We ought to pray fervently that the Holy Spirit would strike us with that sense of wonder and amazement every time we read, sing, pray, meditate upon, and discuss GodAs Word.----A-The declaration of the demon that Jesus is the AHoly One of GodA testifies to the truth which even demons believe A though they rebel against it and tremble because of it -James 2-19-. May we live in loving and joyful submission to this eternal truth A that Jesus Christ is Lord -Philippians 2-11-.

Offensitivity - What the Bible Says to the Offender and the Offended

Wed, 30 Nov 2016 13:32 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Millbrook Presbyterian Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Offensitivity - What the Bible Says to the Offender and the Offended
Subtitle: Millbrook Sunday Evenings
Speaker: Rev. Brannon Bowman
Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 11/27/2016
Bible: Romans 14:13-23
Length: 38 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Taking offense - being hurt - being too touchy or sensitive - has become a frequently used -and very effective- weapon for many to shape culture and frame conversation.----It is a sin to be deliberately offensive for to hurt someone else. But, it is also a sin to take offense where none is given. Love overlooks a multitude of sins.----Finally, though, we must always remember the the Gospel itself is offensive. We can be gracious, loving, patient, and friendly as we tell others about Jesus. The truth remains that the Gospel calls sinners to repentance. People are threatened by this truth. They are offended by it. We must not shrink from proclaiming the Gospel with boldness. But, we must be careful to not add unnecessarily to the offense.

Time to Follow Me

Mon, 28 Nov 2016 18:09 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Millbrook Presbyterian Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Time to Follow Me
Subtitle: Walk with the Master
Speaker: Rev. Brannon Bowman
Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 11/27/2016
Bible: Mark 1:14-20
Length: 27 min. (64kbps)

Overview: The Gospel is no less timely and urgent today as it was in the day of Jesus. We often put off until tomorrow the important things of God. Let today be the day of faithfulness and ministry.----A-We should be encouraged by the selection of these men by Jesus. Can we not see much of ourselves in Simon -impetuous and quick-tempered- or James and John -the Sons of Thunder who argue about who is going to have the best seat in heaven-- Yet, the Holy Spirit sanctifies them to a calling and a life beyond their natural inclinations. They become leaders, evangelists, teachers, and martyrs.----A-It ought not surprise us that JesusAs first call to discipleship was a call to become evangelists. These humble followers of Jesus are examples of DanielAs teaching that Athose who turn many to righteousness, shall shine like the stars forever and everA -12-3-. May we faithfully follow as fishers of men.----II Timothy 2-2 - AThe things you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.A

Jesus, What a Friend for Sinners

Mon, 21 Nov 2016 22:55 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Millbrook Presbyterian Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Jesus, What a Friend for Sinners
Subtitle: Walk with the Master
Speaker: Rev. Brannon Bowman
Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 11/20/2016
Bible: Mark 1:9-13
Length: 29 min. (64kbps)

Overview: A-Jesus submits to the baptism of John A a baptism of repentance and forgiveness. This is a beautiful example of JesusA active obedience and righteousness. He obeyed all that God called upon His people to do. This is vital. In our justification, God treats us as if we had lived ChristAs perfect life A because, on the cross He treated Jesus as if He had lived our sinful life -II Corinthians 5-21-.----A-The temptation of Jesus was an all-out effort to persuade Jesus to abandon His role as Mediator. Satan pressed Jesus to take care of Himself rather than take care of us. JesusA was truly and severely tempted by Satan himself, but He did not sin -Hebrew 4-15-. In this we see His victory over sin and His powerful and faith love for us.

I Love to Tell the Story

Wed, 16 Nov 2016 19:35 GMT

A new MP3 sermon from Millbrook Presbyterian Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: I Love to Tell the Story
Subtitle: Walk with the Master
Speaker: Rev. Brannon Bowman
Broadcaster: Millbrook Presbyterian Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 11/13/2016
Bible: Mark 1:1-8
Length: 41 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Why did God use John, an odd man in the wilderness, to introduce Jesus to the world-----Why Athe wilderness- The Israelites would know the wilderness to be a place of exile, a place of rebellion, a place of sin, a place of discouragement, and a place of death. It is here that Christ comes as the last Adam -I Cor 15-45- to bring His people out of the wilderness and into His restored paradise.----Our message -the story we should love to tell- must be a call to repentance with the glorious promise of forgiveness. Further, it must point with singular clarity to the powerful person and work of Christ Jesus as the ONLY way of salvation.
