Anonymous, re your comment"The PDBA has chosen to stretch the boundaries for its own purposes of increasing membership." I disagree with that assessment. The PDBA, IMO, is only reacting to the development or prposed development that is taking place in the blocks north of Lovejoy and bounded by 15th on the west side.

Across Naito Parkway is the big condo, tower and boat harbor. I heard that a big condo tower is going in on 14th and Savier. And soon, because the rents are low, the area between Savier and Lovejoy will sprout buildings like daisys in my yard in Spring time.

Indeed, "Property values and hence property taxes are determined by neighborhood", and money is flowing and rents will be rising, and property values, IMHO, will be rising along with tax revenues to the city.

I just checked a map a discovered I was mistaken about your location. You are definitely in the Pearl, my apologies.

But I do hope you understand my point in my previous comment. Stretching the boundaries only "cheapens" the neighborhood for those of us who live in it.

As a Pearl resident, I take issue with is how the boundaries of the Pearl District are being stretched beyond the City defined boundaries. Technically, Landfair is not even in the Pearl, to do so you would need to to be on the east side of 15th. The PDBA has chosen to stretch the boundaries for its own purposes of increasing membership. But every plan by the city clearly lists the west boundary as the middle of 15th Avenue. And if you think this doesn't matter think again. Property values and hence property taxes are determined by neighborhood.

So really the area should be called the Northwest Design District. North Pearl is east/south of 405.
