May God be merciful to those who can't find good things to say about your sons and daughters in harms way.

Bravo, and very well said. It really is a perspective I wish I held with every breath. I know all to well that complacency is an easy pitfall in the land of plenty.

Well said, thank you! We are so blessed in this country.
So glad I found your blog. We have been 'supporting' a young soldier from a Stryker unit for a almost a year before he deployed to his current location in Iraq. Two days ago he emailed to say the building he and three other soldiers were in on the third floor stairway, blew up. Fortunately all survived. However, docs checked him out and said he had a grade 1 concussion and was just fine to go to his tent and sleep. The docs just needed to 'document' this injury. His chest ached, lost his hearing temporarily, among other things. And he has only been in Iraq 3 months. Told him what I know as a nurse to best care for his injury, and can only hope for the best. Don't think he was given any time off to recover. Have been reading TBI info for several months, and this really scares me.
Thanks for your great post.

These are such amazing liberties and so many people take them for granted, as do I at times. Your reminder of them is eloquent. Take care and Happy 4th!!
If you get a chance check out the Ohio Fallen Heroes Monument. It was rededicated this past weekend in Sunbury Ohio and is an inspiring place to be.
