I have not finished reading a book since I was 15. This "book" read me... extremely fragmented but still, captivating!!!

I bought this book in LA after a review said it made the reader ( a girl) cut off all her hair (twice) and slowly devoured it while chain smoking in my car and becoming progressively more late for work with each passing day. It was intensely worth it.

All right, I'm totally going to get it, I did exactly that thing of pawing it at the bookstore & putting it back--I'm still not sure it's really my kind of a novel, but I must read it to find out...

Indeed, get yourself a copy! Don't do like I did -- look at it a few times at bookstores and put it back. Instead, I bought books I didn't enjoy even half as much. My entire purpose in life is to serve as a negative example to others, so please learn from me!

After this review, I know I'll be hitting the nearest bookstore at lunchtime today.

I have this book sitting on my shelf at the bottom of a stack of future reads. I picked it up after seeing some positive press on it around the intarwebs. I have to admit - the first two sentences of the prologue hooked me in, line and sinker.

After this review, it's going to the top of the stack for next read.

I actually wanted this one to be a major entry at MetCaf, so decided to take advantage of Bud having apparently forgotten to stick me on the blogroll (the RSS feed seems to be working okay on the member page, so I'm guessing I don't show up amongst the headlines for another reason -- should probably let him know...)

Matt: you don't need to cross-post on Metaxu if you give them your RSS feed. It will automitically grab the post for you and stick it in a place it thinks appropriate.

Sounds like a good book. The way you describe it reminds me of cistern tawdry in a way.
