Comments on 'buy and personally deliver an educational book to a Palestinian child in a refugee camp in Lebanon'

If you want to make a real and meaningful pledge, go to my site and check out "An Educational Pledge" which was written for and dedicated to youth-at-risk and families in need of developing a strong value system and the need to see the light and get out the box before one's life journey is over. This pledge has been very successful with individuals and groups. May the Pledge be with you!

Mission accomplished. I went to Al-Bass refugee camp Tuesday 2nd August and delivered our books. The handover wasn't quite as I had hoped since the children were going on a day trip out of the camp on that day. I delivered the books to the VTC (the centre where activities for the children are run) for the kids to look at later. The books will then be placed in a library area that is being built in the centre - for all the children to use. The children were a pleasant and very enthusiastic group - I've no doubt they will enjoy your donations and be very grateful for them. Many thanks again for your support.

Correction: UNRWA not UNWRA. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency

The children attend schools run by the UN (UNWRA), which teach in English. Refugee Youth Project runs a variety of practical activites involving art, crafts and sport. They also teach English and help children with their school homework. The local volunteers who play a large part in running the project speak Arabic. I intended the books to be written in simple English. However, I'm sure it could be arranged if anyone wanted to sign the pledge but provide a book in Arabic.

Jon, what kinds of books are you taking? Are they written in any particular language?
