Thanks for stopping by, Michele. I always wish you lived a bit closer when you share your struggles. The internet is a nice outlet, sometimes, but it would be nicer to share a cup of coffee, too!

I've gone & still go through the same things, minus the biting, but with the isolation, kids can't sit through service, & I have special needs kids who cannot be in a "childrens church" situation etc. I typically just don't go to church. I'm glad your situation worked out well!

Dana, it's always so good to remember milestones like that. Once he bit, now he bites no mo'. Woo-hoo, Shout to the Lord!

Thank you. And yes, I think things would have been easier to deal with had my husband been around more. If nothing else, we could have traded off who sat with him for things like Karate. And I would have had someone to sit with in church!

The funny thing is my little Bug who just turned two will sit through service. So I have to revise my thoughts that all who do are aliens. My Bug most definitely isn't!

Bear at four is now up to sitting quietly for half an hour. He is content to color or look at a book longer, though. He's working on it during Saturday karate classes.

It always ceases to amaze me that everyone else seems to know how to raise our kids better than we do... or at least they feel they can sit in judgment of how we are doing.
You did absolutely the right thing by not succumbing to somehow chastising a one year old.
I would have said to these people - look.. he's one .. he doesn't understand yet.. care to help me figure this out in a way that I can continue to come and participate in Sunday prayer?
But I see it all worked out and you have gained more wisdom as a result. Sometimes time is all it takes as well.

Brava, Dana!
Oh, how I've been there and done that. My husband worked alternating shifts and long hours. If you often don't have your partner to bounce all those thoughts off and commiserate, it's hard, no matter how hard they work.
Your son is fortunate to have your persistence in remembering he was only one and that he was changing every single day. And that soon "Mommy, I no bit no mo'." ....Sweet boy

Shout to the Lord almost always makes me tear up. I really love that song.

Good post, cute baby. :)
