Saying “Goodbye”- My Final Thoughts

Mon, 07 May 2007 08:26:00 +0000

It has been a complete pleasure blogging for the public. Over the course of this past year, I've written a variety of entries involving internships (folding t-shirts in style), Ave restaurant recommendations, and tips on how to register for classes at the UW. Some of the best and memorable comments that I've received about my blog involve a staff member in Gerberding Hall thanking me for informing her about the Public Speaking speeches in Red Square and co-workers coming up to me and telling me that they've refolded all their t-shirts.

UW without a speaker? Soon-To-Be Grads’ Ideas

Sun, 06 May 2007 21:15:00 +0000

When I read in Seattle P-I that UW was without a commencement speaker, the first thought that came into my mind was: How in the world did that happen? I've wondered why there wasn't a speaker mentioned on the UW Commencement website for a while now, and the article basically answered my question.

Helicopters and brown water

At 8:30 a.m. today, I woke up to the sound of a distant helicopter.

Washington Weekend 2007- Meeting James Sun

Fri, 27 Apr 2007 19:53:00 +0000

If you're a Husky, you know that this upcoming weekend is officially UW's Washington Weekend. The campus has been full of life, from children tossing paper and model airplanes near Foege Building to alumni ready to re-live past memories (and make new ones) by opening the Communication Time Capsule.

Quiz: How well do you know UW?

Tue, 24 Apr 2007 15:50:00 +0000

After being inspired by watching Jeopardy, I decided to make my own trivia quiz about the University of Washington. Take this quiz to see if you're a "true dawg".

How-To: Ultimate Freshman Experience

Tue, 17 Apr 2007 10:56:00 +0000

The sun is shining, duck couples are waddling, and the flowers are blooming. Spring is definitely in the air. Every now-and-then, I see tour groups of parents and high school seniors walking in Red Square and being in complete awe of UW's amazing buildings and libraries. As I pass by students gazing at Suzzallo's beautiful architecture and magnificence, I am reminded about how I had been like as an incoming freshman.

Flag at Half-Mast

Two tragedies within two weeks. I'm still in a state of shock.

A Delicious Success: Husky Career Lunch

Thu, 12 Apr 2007 20:34:00 +0000

Stacks of sandwiches, brownies, noodle salad, fruit... these were some of the main courses in yesterday's Husky Career Lunch buffet. Although the food was plentiful, students' minds were occupied on more than just the cuisine.

Adrenaline rushing, hearts pounding: IMA Soccer

Sat, 07 Apr 2007 20:26:00 +0000

Every Spring Quarter, the IMA holds leagues for teams who would like to play soccer competitively or for fun. My freshman year was the first time I had joined a co-rec team with my friends. It was an awesome experience. I remember jumping for joy after winning an incredibly close game. I also remember stealing the ball away from a 6-foot guy multiple times, which brought about laughter from nearby spectators. The combination of excitement, adrenaline, and fun was brought about in a way that could not be replicated anywhere else.

Google and Facebook Celebrate April Fools’ Day

Sat, 31 Mar 2007 21:10:00 +0000

Two of the top websites, Google and Facebook, have decided to market their audience by appealing to peoples' sense of humor. Google introduced "Gmail Paper" to their list of newly developed projects, which allows people to hypothetically "request a physical copy of any message with the click of a button, and [Google will] send it to you in the mail". This feature would be in direct competition with what we commonly call, "the printer". Google supposedly also added "TiSP", a new wireless broadband service that uses the toilet's flushing feature to install its system.

Folding T-Shirts in Style

Thu, 29 Mar 2007 18:44:00 +0000

I was always taught that in order to do great things, I needed to start with the smaller things first. Little accomplishments would eventually lead to larger achievements.

Limited Time Only: Cherry Blossoms at the Quad

Wed, 28 Mar 2007 08:00:00 +0000

UW's trademark cherry blossom trees are now in full bloom at the Quad. Each spring, these trees produce beautiful blossoms which continually amaze people every year. The Quad becomes one of the main attractions on campus, as photographers attempt to capture the cherry blossoms in their most magnificent stage.

Nothing like Spring Break

Thu, 22 Mar 2007 15:47:00 +0000

It's been one of my most welcomed breaks thus far.

Looking for an On-Campus Job?

Thu, 22 Mar 2007 15:03:00 +0000

Now would be the time to search for an on-campus job. The transition between each quarter usually brings about the most openings for on-campus jobs, mostly due to students pursuing internships, having enough credits to graduate, or wanting a change in their schedules.
