Austin Hedges knocked in the only run of the game Friday, as the Padres edged the Tigers. Detroit, which has now dropped its last seven games, got a strong start from Michael Fulmer, as he allowed one run on two hits in seven innings with eight strikeouts. San Diego starting pitcher Luis Perdomo tossed six scoreless innings for the win.

The Padres placed second baseman Yangervis Solarte and right-hander Miguel Diaz on the disabled list before Friday's game against the Tigers. In corresponding moves, the team activated catcher Hector Sanchez from the disabled list and recalled infielder Carlos Asuaje from Triple-A El Paso.
