Spot could open up in Braves' bullpen

Fri, 24 Mar 2017 15:03:21 EDT

When Mauricio Cabrera exited Monday's ugly appearance against the Marlins, the Braves were hoping the hard-throwing reliever might just need to make a few mechanical adjustments. But it now looks like Cabrera's recent struggles might have been influenced by a fatigued or injured right elbow.

Braves weighing bullpen/bench balance

Mon, 20 Mar 2017 17:55:42 EDT

If forced to immediately make a decision, the Braves would likely open this season with an eight-man bullpen. But with Opening Day two weeks away, they still have plenty of time to evaluate the wisdom of that plan, which would leave them shorthanded on a potentially weak bench.
