James Paxton continued his mastery of the Astros, allowing six hits and one run with seven strikeouts in seven innings, as the Mariners took a series at Minute Maid Park with a 4-1 victory Wednesday afternoon. Ben Gamel's two-run homer in the fourth inning put the Mariners ahead, 2-1, and was all the offense needed for Paxton, who improved to 2-0 in three starts this year against Houston, allowing one run in 20 innings.



Keuchel eyes return after Saturday rehab start

Astros left-handed ace Dallas Keuchel will officially need another rehab start. Keuchel will make his second rehab start on Saturday after throwing three scoreless innings in his first rehab start on Monday for Double-A Corpus Christi, manager A.J. Hinch said after Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Mariners.



Correa has successful surgery on left thumb

Astros All-Star shortstop Carlos Correa underwent surgery Wednesday morning to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb. Correa posted a picture on his Instagram page Wednesday, writing: "Successful Surgery, now ready for what's next."
