Hi, Helen. I reread what I wrote up above and things have definitely changed. My blog now uses Wordpress instead of Greymatter which, among other things, makes the creation of RSS feeds very easy. In fact, all you need to do is install Wordpress -- RSS feeds for both your blog entries and comments are enabled by default. So, if you're thinking about creating a blog on your new website, the RSS feature is probably going to be the least of your worries. Say your website is something like "" With Wordpress, your RSS feed will be "" You can simply give that URL out to anyone that wants to subscribe. As for maintenance, there isn't any. Every time you post a new blog entry, the software will automatically make the proper changes to the RSS feed. I'm sure other blog software packages (like Blogger, Movable Type, etc.) have very similar designs. The only worry you might have is if you're planning to create an RSS feed for a website that doesn't have a blog at all. If that's the case, I don't really have a suggestion. I've created RSS feeds by hand before -- just typed up the ol' XML document -- and that's no fun at all!

Thanks, Elise. By the way, there a few different mods you can use to get rss working with Greymatter, and the one I chose has a few speed bumps. Let me know if you get stuck (on anything other than your hosting provider's stuff -- can't help you there!)

Good luck.

RSS is short for RDF Site Summary or Rich Site Summary, an XML format for syndicating Web content.

Most will define it as Really Simple Syndication these days though.

But you're right, that's not the point. Thanks for all the helpful info on the greymatter download! I'm sure you've saved me countless hours of frustration.
