DelDOT Announces Mobile Driver License Pilot Study

The Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has launched a mobile driver license (mDL) pilot study that will run for six months. The pilot, which includes approximately 200 state employees and stakeholders, is designed to test user acceptance and new innovative features that can only be achieved with an mDL.

"Delaware is among the first states to test a mobile driver's license, and we're excited to help move this new technology forward," said Governor John Carney. [More]

Introducing DelDOT's New Entrance Permits Online Submission Portal

In an effort to streamline and provide better customer service, the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) has created the Entrance Permit online submission system to modernize the application process for several types of Entrance Permits for homeowners, realtors, developers, and engineers.

This web browser accessible system accommodates the application through issuing process for the following:

  • Residential Entrance Permits
  • Commercial Entrance Permits
  • Agricultural Entrance Permits
  • Temporary Entrance Permits
  • Safety Permits

The Entrance Permit System will enable all citizens to apply for these permits via the website.

The system features documentation uploading which will minimize and in most cases eliminate trips to District offices; further, DelDOT will now accept scanned signed documents from applicants who have downloaded and signed their forms and have uploaded those forms to the site. [More]

TRAFFIC ALERT - Rehabilitation of Bridge Will Require the Closure of Poplar Street

The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces to motorists that Poplar Street will be closed for the rehabilitation of the bridge over Broad Creek between Old Sailors Road and West Front Street. The road closure will begin on Monday, March 5, 2018, and is expected to be completed by mid-June, pending weather.

This project involves the painting of the existing steel and repairs to the pier and abutment of the bridge. [More]

Notice of Public Hearing Workshops for Proposed DART Bus Route & Schedule Changes

Delaware Transit Corporation (DTC) will conduct Public Hearing Workshops to gain feedback and collect public comment on proposed changes to DART Statewide Fixed Route Bus Services to become effective Sunday, May 20, 2018, as well as seasonal Beach Bus Services to become effective Saturday, May 5 (limited weekend service), with full service beginning Monday, May 21, 2018.

DART Launches Its18th Annual Poster Contest

Delaware Transit Corporation Wins First Place in APTA 2018 AdWheel Award for DART's Beach Bus Marketing Campaign

The Delaware Transit Corporation (DTC) has earned high honors in the marketing and communications world of the public transportation industry, winning first place for "Best Marketing and Communications to Increase Ridership or Sales - Comprehensive Campaign" from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) 2018 AdWheel Awards for its innovative DART Beach Bus campaign.

The objective of the Beach Bus campaign was to raise awareness of the new Lewes Transit Center and Park & Ride, increase ridership and, in turn, reduce traffic congestion during the summer. The public was offered the option to ride in the comfort of the air-conditioned bus, avoiding the stress and aggravation of driving in bumper-to-bumper traffic. [More]

DelDOT Adds First Electric Vehicles to Fleet

The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) has added two electric vehicles (EV) to its fleet as part of a new pilot program. Adding the two EVs will help the department assess the sustainability, ease of use, and maintenance of these vehicles compared to the department's traditional fossil fueled light duty fleet vehicles.

The two Ford Focus Electric vehicles have a range of roughly 70 - 100 miles per charge, and will be based at DelDOT's Danner Campus in Dover where an EV charging station has been installed. [More]

The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that their contractor Mumford & Miller Concrete Inc. will begin the improvements of the intersection of SR 404/Seashore Highway and SR 18/Cannon Road. SR 404/Seashore Highway will be widened with the installation of a left turn lane to improve safety and facilitate unobstructed through movements. SR 18/Cannon Road will be widened to provide both left and right turn lanes; an acceleration lane will also be installed for the southeast movement onto SR 404/Seashore Highway. [More]
