The Wyrd Ways Rock ShowWelcome to the Wyrd Ways Rock Show. This is my attempt to evoke the spirit of The Friday Rock Show. I'll be playing new stuff and old stuff from all over the Metal world, from AOR to Black and from Folk to Thrash.Published: Mon, 06 Feb 2012 21:05:06 GMT
Wyrd Ways Rock Show CLXXXII Sun, 05 Feb 2012 15:41:49 GMT (image)News this week about ructions in the Black Sabbath camp. Looks like there's trouble at t'mill when it comes to contracts. News, also, about additions to the Bloodstock line-up, and I've finally got round to playing the interview I did with Marc Rizzo, guitarist from Soulfly, at Sonisphere 2010. Better late than never, eh? Anyway, you can find all of that and a bit more at the Wyrd Ways Rock Show website at http://www.wyrdwaysrs.com.
Wyrd Ways Rock Show CLXXXI Sun, 29 Jan 2012 21:29:33 GMT (image)With the news that Marc Reale, guitarist and founder of Riot died during the week, this week’s Wyrd Ways Rock Show is dedicated to him, and his band’s latest album, Immortal Soul, is featured in this week’s Spotlight. Aside from the tribute, you'll also be hearing new material from Seven Deadly (who used to be members of Panic Cell, Savage, Soulfly, Halestorm and Bang Tango (yes, they ARE still around). As per usual, there's more stuff available at the website, http://www.wyrdwaysrs.com.
Wyrd Ways Rock Show CLXXX Sun, 22 Jan 2012 19:14:14 GMT (image)Nice varied show this week. Some Proper Heavy Metal, a splash of Classic Rock, some Power Metal and a fair old slab of Doom. Not only that, there’s a new track from Metallica’s new Beyond Magnetic release (an apology for Lulu, mayhap?) and this weeks the Spotlight falls on a band that want to play at Bloodstock this year, and really do deserve the chance: Bastard Son Of Toranaga. If you want to help that to happen, give the show a listen. You can find it all at http://www.wyrdwaysrs.com
Wyrd Ways Rock Show CLXXIX Sun, 15 Jan 2012 17:09:02 GMT (image)This week's show is dedicated to The Godfather of Heavy Metal, the RiffMaster himself, Tony Iommi, who was recently diagnosed with early stage lymphoma. Reminded by this, a couple of cancer charity singles get some play (so you can go and buy them). There's also your usual quota of new stuff, filled this week by Therapy?, Lamb Of God (an exclusive track!), Biohazard and Venom! It also becomes obvious that your host is a bit of an old perve... but we knew that anyway! Anyway, everything you need is at http://www.wyrdwaysrs.com
Wyrd Ways Rock Show CLXXVIII Sun, 08 Jan 2012 16:45:14 GMT (image)Something for pretty much everyone this week. New stuff of all stripes, from Black Metal (Nephelium) to AOR (Sunstorm - a Joe Lynn Turner project) and some brand new stuff from a classic band. You want to hear some new UFO? You've come to the right place. You've also come to the right place if you haven't heard the new track that's floating around the internet by Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden) and Mikee Goodman (ex-SikTh). Anyway... you know the rest. http://www.wyrdwaysrs.com. Nuff said!
Wyrd Ways Rock Show CLXXVII - A New Year Tue, 03 Jan 2012 21:43:55 GMT (image)It's a bit of a celebrity special this week. I asked a few of my Facebook friends what their favourite albums of 2011 were. You might have heard of some of them. You'll certainly have heard of the albums they chose. You'll also get to hear previews of some of the stuff I'm looking forward to during 2012. As per usual, it's all at http://www.wyrdwaysrs.com.
Wyrd Ways Rock Show CLXXVI - The Yuletide Behemoth Sat, 24 Dec 2011 21:14:51 GMT (image)Massive show this week, and I do mean MASSIVE. Nearly FIVE HOURS of the very best of 2011. You'll hear from Megadeth, Evile, Rhapsody Of Fire, NeonFly, Korpiklaani, Alice Cooper and loads of others. What more do you want? What more do you need? Nothing, that's what! As always, head over to the website if you want to download or see if I've updated it in any way. Merry Christmas, and remember to get in touch to let me know what your favourite album of 2011 was. As usual, you can find the website at http://www.wyrdwaysrs.com.
Wyrd Ways Rock Show CLXXV Sun, 18 Dec 2011 13:43:53 GMT (image)Welcome to the 175th Wyrd Ways Rock Show! You’ll be glad to hear there is going to be one mention of the word “Christmas” this week. What about the music, then? There’s some bits and pieces including new stuff from Pythia, Orange Goblin, Ministry (sort of!), Lamb Of God, Eisregen and a bit of Hellfighter. Got another Spotlight for you this week, too. They’re a band I’ve seen three times so far this year. At the SOS Festival back in July, then putting in a truly awesome set on the Sophie Lancaster Stage at Bloodstock, and finally a couple of weeks ago at The Snooty Fox in Wakefield. They are, of course, the mighty Evil Scarecrow! It's all there for you at http://www.wyrdwaysrs.com
Wyrd Ways Rock Show CLXXIV Sun, 11 Dec 2011 15:55:30 GMT (image)This week's Wyrd Ways Rock Show is stuffed absolutely to the gunwhales with brand new stuff. If you want a huge chunk of Stoner, I've got the likes of Pilgrim and Lonely Kamel. If you want some Power Metal, how about some Primal Fear? Got new Symphonic Metal from Nightwish, Coronatus and Visions Of Atlantis and some Proper Heavy Metal from Orange Goblin, Venom and 9MM. To round it all off, we've also got the Spotlight being shone by IronLord on one of Yorkshire Metal's underground finest, Ravenage and a commemoration of the final gig by the mighty Cathedral. Come and get it at http://www.wyrdwaysrs.com.
Wyrd Ways Rock Show CLXXIII Sun, 04 Dec 2011 09:18:50 GMT (image)As everybody comes home from Hard Rock Hell for another year, at The Wyrd Ways Rock Show, we take a look back at ANOTHER one I didn't end up going to! Got the accreditation too late to sort anything out for HRH III, couldn't get there for HRH IV because of the snow, and for this year, I was ill (only really recovering now). Ah well. Maybe next year. Anyway, this week's show features the bands I'd've been trying to see over the weekend, so for some of you, this will be a nice aural souvenir of the festival. Come and download it from http://www.wyrdwaysrs.com.
