lolfeeds

Thu, 31 May 2007 18:40:56 -0800

LOLfeeds turns any RSS feed into cat macros. For instance: this place, MetaTalk, or Craigslist personals.

Oh Dear Jesus, thank you for this. I hadn't thought about lolcats in about 28 minutes.

Oh man the craigslist one was super funny.

By: Hat Maui

Thu, 31 May 2007 18:51:33 -0800

that's so fucking great. there are no permalinks, but check out the inadvertently relevant: "sorry, no throbbing gristle" at 1/3 down "don't tread on me" a couple posts under that "hysteria strikes again" a little more than halfway down "paging dr. flea" directly under that everything else makes a kind of absurd sense, but these are on the nose, as they say in the tv biz.

Well, I've been complaining about running this meme into the ground but I found this pretty entertaining.

By: lucasks

Thu, 31 May 2007 18:52:10 -0800

Seriously... I never post but this meme has pushed me over the edge. No personal offense to the poster but for the love of God, can we be done with lol-*? Often I subscribe to the: "Don't like it? Don't click the link." crowd but these posts just plain suck.

Thu, 31 May 2007 18:52:16 -0800

Like I said last time, BoingBoing killed lolcats for me. This meme is dead to me.

Shut up, losers. Automatic RSS lolcats are hilarious, just like every other sort of lolcat.

Thu, 31 May 2007 18:56:28 -0800

You know when someone asks, hey, want a beer?, and you think, hmm, hey, why not, and the beer tastes much better than you had expected, because you weren't really thinking about having a beer, and before you're even halfway savouring the first one, someone hands you another, and next thing you know it you're buying the rounds, and with a parched mouth and a head like a ferris wheel you hear someone mumble, hey, wanannathabee?, and you stammer, sure!, and you really believe it, against all good advice, but you really do, by the best of your impaired judgment, do wanannathabee? That's how I feel about LOLcats. Please keep 'em coming. I'll be under the table.

By: jonson

Thu, 31 May 2007 18:56:37 -0800

I'm not in it for the lolcats angle (since losing the lolspeak kills it), but the craigslist random headlines over cat imagery is bizarrely hilarious.

By: pruner

Thu, 31 May 2007 18:57:04 -0800

I was hoping for something more from the I Can Has Cheeseburger LOLfeed.

By: dhammond

Thu, 31 May 2007 18:58:50 -0800

That's how I feel about LOLcats. Sheesh. Some of like drinking.

Thu, 31 May 2007 19:00:03 -0800

Okay, I think I got the same "sorry, no throbbing gristle" one in the MeFi feed, and I LOLed.

I hate LOLcats junk at this point, but the craigslist one is fucking great.

By: houseofdanie

Thu, 31 May 2007 19:41:26 -0800

Oh my gosh. From Craigslist, we get, "I want someone to take care of my kitty." This rules.

By: houseofdanie

Thu, 31 May 2007 19:46:16 -0800

Oh, oops. I was so busy looking at... uh, kitties, that I missed that loquacious got there first. Apologies!

Dear god, complaining about lolcats is getting old. The whole meme'll pass in (looking at watch) about another 30 minutes anyway, and you'll never have to look at cute pictures of cats with text again.

By: quin

Thu, 31 May 2007 21:04:31 -0800

There is a great beauty in combining two separate forms of randomness. Humans want to see patterns, we want the two dissimilar things to fit together, and thus we take punchdrunkhistory's What's my kink, and suddenly two kitties on a bed becomes wonderfully perverse. I love it.

I enjoyed slashdot a lot (wow, when was the last time I said that?) Here's a nice one from the ./ feed.

By: unregistered_animagus

Thu, 31 May 2007 21:52:45 -0800

This is simply wonderful. If you missed it in the first link, here is the lolfeeds bookmarklet. Drag it to your toolbar; click to turn any page with feeds into teh. new. hotness. (headlines c/o mental_floss blogs)

By: quin

Thu, 31 May 2007 21:55:55 -0800

Wonderful example of my point pinespree, what does that photo have to do with a shuttle launch? Nothing. But there is a feather, and feathers come from birds who fly, shuttles also fly; And just because it's perfect, it's not actually a bird, it's a bird's predator; the cat, chewing on the feather, with the text about the launch, so we question if a launch will be coming or did the cat's eating disrupt it and therefore make the whole image ironic. You see? Random connections = wonderfulness. Again, I love it.

By: unregistered_animagus

Thu, 31 May 2007 21:56:29 -0800

...er, i guess that would have been more helpful as "the lolfeeds bookmarklet".

For what it's worth, Yahoo Answers (which is usually full of not-very-bright questions) is a good mesh for this, esp. the Pets/Cats feed.

By: davejay

Fri, 01 Jun 2007 00:42:45 -0800

Bah; Yahoo doesn't let you pull a specific category through the lolcatfeeder. Still, has enough "HELP PLEEEEEEEZ!!" questions to be fun.
