VIDEO: Mason Earle's battle with Cobra Crack, Squamish


(image) Cobra Crack in Squamish is infamous within knarly crack climbing circles. It's hosted a number of battles over the years, but Mason Earle's is perhaps the only war. This film focuses on Mason's eight years of attrition, and captures his changing motivations over time - from simply wanting to beat Alex Honnold to an ascent, to eventually wanting to climb the route for himself.

(image) Margo Hayes has repeated Chris Sharma's iconic Biographie, 9a+, at Céüse, France. This was the first female ascent and Margo's second of the grade after La Rambla which she repeated in February.

NEWS: IFSC Lead/Speed World Cup & Paraclimbing Cup Edinburgh: Report


(image) The fifth round of the IFSC Lead World Cup took place at EICA Ratho near Edinburgh this weekend. For the first time in 14 years, the IFSC lead circuit returned to the UK, once again attracting the World's best lead competition climbers to the quarry-turned-climbing wall in Ratho, which was also the chosen venue for the UIAA World Cup in December 2003. The weekend also hosted a round of the IFSC Speed World Cup and the Paraclimbing Cup.

NEWS: Tom Ballard and Daniele Nardi on Link Sar


(image) In late August, British alpinist Tom Ballard attempted the North East face of Link Sar (7041m) in the Pakistan Karakoram alongside Italian mountaineer Daniele Nardi. Despite a bold effort in the face of heavy snowfall and avalanches, the pair were unfortunately forced to retreat due to bad weather after spending three days at 5700m.
