A Privileged Life

Tue, 19 Aug 2008 17:26:34 +0000

It all started with a knock at the door. My mom and dad met in 1981, dated and lived together for seven tumultuous years before they decided to marry. My mom and DJ dad lived a very crazy life that consisted of disco dancing parties, and drugs. My dad finally asked my mom to marry [...]

My Walk Back To Life

Sat, 01 Jul 2006 06:59:53 +0000

It was an incident that was drug related... A person would call a 'bad trip'... upset with everything that moved. I was that I found myself driving into a cemetary, when the cemetary was closed, and the gates where closed. So the only way into the cemetary was through the gates. So that's where I ended up, driving through the gates. And it was like I was having a connection or a spiritual encounter. I guess what we called it at church it's... I was going through... feeling that it was, I was in the rapture. So when I was in the cemetary I was driving my car through there and was like angels or things coming out of the ground... people coming out of the ground. I'm not into the church yet, I'm barely, I'm just trying to find my way. And then all the sudden I know that I have so much illegal stuff in my pocket. What am I gonna do?

Excerpt: Sis. Lewis and her granddaughter RekeebaEmail this to a friend “I would wash my wound everyday, keep it clean, but the wound kept getting larger and larger. So finally one day I was in the bathroom cleaning my wound and I heard the Lord say “Wound… Hospital.” I didn’t know exactly what that was [...]

Taking A Stand And Running To Win

Mon, 01 May 2006 06:57:08 +0000

I walked into the men’s prayer room and I said, "If you see where I’m not mature enough or lack character; if this would go to my head; I would backslide, be a reproach to your church, then I want you to let me lose and lose miserably. But if I can be a witness, if I could bring kids to church, if I can let my light shine," And I said "Then I want you to give me a speech." And I want you to know when I prayed that, the anointing began to flow and ya see this is... this was unnatural to me for something like this to happen and ya know. And so I'm writing, I mean I am writing so fast and I'm thinking about that nine year old prayer meeting and I'm thinking about other things that happened and I'm writing and it's just coming and it's just.. I mean I remember literally my wrist hurting and I'm saying "God would you slow down, this… just slow down!" It was just ya know. And so in about thirty minutes it was all written. Folded it up, went home, got in the bed, went to sleep. [The] next day I go to school, and I'm walking down the hall. Now I had heard by way of the grapevine (now the grapevine is when you hear something you ain't supposed to hear). And I had heard by the way of the grapevine that Randy Angsworth who was the assistant student council sponsor to Miss Nichols, had been meeting during the student council hour in the library, working with Mike Connelle on his speech. They were collaborating and writing a speech together. So I'm walking in the hall between class, and Mr. Randy Angsworth comes beside me and, "Hey Scott, how ya doin?" I said, "Oh oh yeah, I'm doin great." He said, "Well ya know… uh, just a few days here we're gonna give speeches. You ready?" I said, "Well, I'm gettin ready." And I don't know if his conscience was bothering him or what but he said, "Is anybody helping you write your speech?" And I looked at him and I said, "Yes sir." And he said, "Who?" And I said, "God!" ... He looked at me… like I had fell out of tree!

Daddy In The Grandstands

Sat, 01 Apr 2006 06:20:24 +0000

When I walked down the empty corridor, the bare floor seemed to stretch on forever. Nearby, the clicks of my mother’s shoes rang sharply in my ears. When I opened the large metal door, my senses were immediately flooded by a pungent, stale stench. In front of me were rows of steel stools and bulletproof [...]

The Greatest Choice I Have Ever Made

Wed, 15 Mar 2006 19:01:38 +0000

We infested our business with sin. We would throw parties after business hours, at times having up to 150 people drinking and doing drugs inside and outside the building. I remember one night getting drunk, smoking weed, free basing nitrous oxide, dropping a couple of pills of ecstasy and "bumping (sniffing)" cocaine. I was so numb that I couldn’t tell the different effects of the drugs. Sin is so cruel and deceitful. I remember that night feeling like a king, here I am partying like a rock star and owning my own business. I felt as if I was going straight to the top. According to me "I was living life to the fullest"! That night or should I say the following morning, I had the grueling realization that the party was over and it was time to go home. When I would go home I would sleep with my head phones on drowning out the knock at the door of my soul with worldly music. Thinking was out of the question because I would always know deep inside (like we all do) that I was not right with God. I would go to work on Mondays as if nothing happened, still this young eager, enthusiastic man looking to be successful. "I could control my partying, I’m not like those low lives on the streets," I would say. Finally after playing games with God I had hit the dead end road. I can remember I was sitting back and I thought to myself, "I'm going to make it big. I’m going to be rich and have everything life has to offer" (I would always lie to myself to try to fill the void inside). A thought hit me like a ton of bricks "Yes but you’ll never fill the void inside your soul."

Adventures In God

Tue, 28 Feb 2006 16:31:11 +0000

And we began to pray, and after awhile we began to feel the power of God. And we just laid our hands on him, just normal y'know... God has to do it or it's not done. And when we began to touch him... amen and next thing you know, he began to move... he began to move. And then next thing I know (we thought he was... y'know, unconscious) he got to sitting up (it was a slow process) and he said brother I don't know who y'all are but I felt God touch me. And so, an adventure was started...
