["Jenn, I think there was more to Kate blowing up her Stepdad than just because he hit her Mom. I think there was a suggestion there of sexual abuse. The comments he made towards her when he was putting her to bed led me to believe that was not the first time he did that and that maybe when she was younger and less able to stand up to him or do anything about it. It also would explain her inability to commit to a guy and her sexual acting out, which a lot of times can happen to those who were sexual abuse victims when they were younger. Just a theory, but it’s what I’ve always thought about Kate. I wish they would explain her actions more so that we got a better grasp of why she does this bouncing back and forth with men."] Wayne Jensen never touched Kate. She made that perfectly clear. The worst he ever did to her was leer at her a couple of times. I hope by now that fans have stopped trying to make excuses for Kate's murder of Wayne. I hate to say this, but she proved to be the real monster in the family.

["Hopefully one that will kickstart his character into the reluctant but effective leader and hero of Season 1."] Jack wasn't that effective a leader in Season 1. And neither were any of the other characters who assumed the mantle of "leader". And why is it important that Jack or any other character be "a hero"?

I think Locke got 'infected' with MIB-ishness but not fully possessed until the physical death. @ Rich - I have a PC and had to right click on the audio play from The Transmission archives and Save As into my PC then Add File on Itunes. It up or downloads as a music file instead of a podcast with Ryan & Jen as the Artists. The downside being it doesn't really SAVE your place if you go off and do something else but if you note the minute marker you can fastforward to where you left off. Also I had some that just wouldn't load but only a few. Hope this helps! Nice to See you again on the Blog, come on over to Facebook and keep up with some of us Diehards over there!

My answer would be a definitive no, although it seemed like a plausible theory for some time. In Season 6 MIB said that Locke was a sucker who provided him with the one thing he needed, the dead body of a candidate. The iconic scene you refer to pushed Locke toward his ultimate fate, but didn't immediately claim him.

Question, I rewatched walkabout the other night and I need to know if you, or anyone else, feel like man in black took over Locke in the scene where they came face to face. The show cut to a commercial and at the time it first aired we all assumed it was a chance encounter that exposed one of our character to the evil on the island. Now seeing the end, did Locke get taken over by MIB then or not? I'm still not sure.

Wasn't Jack taking care of business on the island (after Jacob dies) and then passing that responsibility on to Hurley with Ben as his "Number 2" the resolution? Is that too simple? The story started with Jack opening his eye and ended with him closing his eye ~~ it was His journey and his journey satisfactorily concluded. The rest is as Ryan said "Window Dressing."

Is there a way to download the older archived podcasts into I tunes? I would love to be able to manage the way I listen to them. I had much the same experience with the "Lost Encyclopedia" as I did with "The End." Beautiful, but unsatisfactory in terms of the grand design. I think the prevailing opinion on the ultimate meaning of Lost has coalesced around what was immediately observable, ignoring the subtext. Some of the loose ends we labored over have been dismissed. However, Ryan pointed out in reference to Jughead that you do not introduce a gun in Act I unless you intend for it to go off in Act III. But neither do you introduce oracular warnings about the end of the world, pandemic infections, indications that the fabric of reality is coming undone etc without any proper resolution.

I don't know about a singular, unifying diagram (which would have to be the size of a small building), but there are resources like Lostpedia (a very thorough wiki) and the "LOST Encyclopedia," a giant tome that came out last year.

First, thx Ryan and Jen for the years of dedication.... Second, is there a site out there that list some sort of master 'diagram' of LOST? Like a timeline that super-imposes everything? There is so much to digest with the show, the island, the characters, the other-others, time travel, statues, etc.... If I ever get the chance to buy the DVD set and watch it all within a few days time - maybe it will all fit together. Watching over a period of years you tent to forget things from year to year and genrally lose that 'overall view and understanding'.

Funny how I was beginning to believe that my obsession with LOST had been part of a collective delusion. This was when I was straightening things up and putting the collection box back together with the secret disk in its hiding spot. Funny that the very next day I see your podcast downloading to iTunes, and now I am cast back into remembering how wonderful LOST was/is, and how much I enjoyed the online discussions with YAE and your sweet voices on the podcasts. Almost ready for a rewatch. Having trouble moving on. Lyle said it right above, that the work you put into this podcast shows how much you care, and how thoughtful you are in your work. Best of success in everythng new for you.

Hi YAE, Jen and Ryan: Today is the first anniversary without "LOST" but I am still with my rewatch so I haven't let the show go yet. Some thoughts about what you commented: -"The New Man in Charge": I think its explanations were a bit for dummies, see the polar bears (really?) and the pregnant women (that made me congratulate myself because my theory was true). I'd have liked to see how Desmond went out from the Island and met Penny again. -The Sawyer-Juliet (yeah, she was the best among the actresses, she's simply amazing) relationship: I agree with you. It wasn't likely to happen but they started to trust in each other and besides she was the only one who could control James! And, oh boy, that cut you chose with the great John Locke (my favourite character) saying "don't tell me what I can't do, this is my destiny" is hearbreaking. And the one between Penny and Desmond... I saw the episode recently and well, seeing that I can't still understand why there are people who say the most important thing from the show weren't the characters but the mistery. Thank you for this amazing podcast, I was a new listener during season six but I enjoyed a lot listening to it and besides I met great people thanks to it. At this point I should say... Namaste and good luck ;) Pd: By the way, the last song from The Others Lost band is the most beautiful of all.

In my humble opinion........ probably the best podcast of them all. I think it is real easy for all of us to gloss over the kind of dedication and time that must have been given by Ryan and Jen in doing the Transmission podcasts. But this last one, from the comments, to the well thought out favorites, to the telephone calls and snippets of the show itself...... WOW! All I could think of all the way through was how many hours must Ryan & Jen have given to all of us, and the LOST fan base, to make such a production. Thank you Ryan and Jen!!! Some of the individual weekly podcasts may in time get deleted. But this last one will be archived forever and placed in with the 6 year DVD set. Or maybe the Blu-Ray set. Or possibly both!! :-) You guys are the greatest!!! Lyle PS Did I say how good it was to see all the familiar names above again! Just like "old home week". hehehehe

Yes, this is probably why Evangeline Lilly has not been overly visible as of late. As per my comment above, I loved EVERY part of LOST, so I also loved all the moments and episodes you two mentioned in your final wrap-up podcast; they just weren't all necessarily my favorite parts. Also, I too would be thrilled to be on board for POP-spotting. After a 20+ year hiatus from TV/ movies/ music, I have come full circle and really enjoy following culture and SOME of the latest trends ~~ particularly well-written, acted, directed, scored and photographed movies.

Listening to your final podcast made me realize how unique all of our experiences with this magical show are. I found myself relating to maybe 20% of your favorite episodes and moments. There are certain things that the majority of us agree on: that the Pilot and Season One were amazing, that Ben was a diabolical and magnetic character, that Eko was a super-cool character, that every Desmond-centric episode was a mind-boggling game-changer, that the chemistry between him and Penny was heart-bursting and that "The Constant" was a stand-out favorite episode, that Locke really dominated Season One starting with Walk-about, and that the accompanying musical score throughout the entire series was stellar, among others that are slipping my mind at the moment. One of the callers mentioned the moment that Jack and Sawyer shared about Christian's message to his son as a favorite moment and I couldn't agree more. Additionally, the moment when Miles witnessed his father truly loving him as a baby in Season 5, and when Sawyer was finally able to get some release and relief after killing the man (Locke's birth dad) who had destroyed his family. For me, LOST was and always will be about either being able to 'move on' from painful 'Father' or childhood issues, or finding redemption, and in either case ultimately learning to be whole and connected and useful and loved.

Two days ago, I almost unsubscribed to The Transmission in iTunes believing that nothing more would come of it. This morning I fire up iTunes and the first podcast I see downloading is “The Lost Year”. Could it be? I’m afraid that it’s got to be an episode of “365 Days of Astronomy”, “Astronomy Cast”, “Cheap Astronomy Podcast”, “NOVA scienceNOW”, or any of a number of other podcasts I subscribe to. I have to look twice. Yes, it is The Transmission that is downloading now. But is says that it was cast by The Transmission on May 23 and today is only May 21. Jen, Ryan, did you transmit this on the right compass heading? The proper bearing was 325 degrees.

Sometimes patience is a virtue. I have been listening to your LOST transmission PodCast since very early on. Was listening before your break and when you came back. Matter of fact it was the first Podcast I ever listened to. Had your Podcast set in my iTunes section, many times thought to simply remove as the last Lost podcast may not be coming but kept seeing on the blog it would be. And yesterday I got it and today I listened. Funny that as much as I loved LOST, I was a bit disappointed in the finale, it was very good just was not too much into the whole Flash Sideways thing so that was a bit of a bummer for me. But the odd thing is before your Podcast came out for some reason I watched Flash Before Your Eyes and then listened to your top clips of the series and remembered what a great show it was. Action, mystery, character driven, thought provoking - all rolled into a show. And as an added feature the Podcasts like the Transmission that followed, that became almost as much fun as the show as I would look forward to them to see what I may have missed as much as guessing on theories - just a really unique experience overall. The only show like it now is Fringe and I believe you two are watching that, would love to see maybe a Podcast on that, but understand if it can't. Do appreciate your time and effort for the Podcasts over the year, the time required to not only record, sometimes re-record and the editing on top of the normal tasks of life. It was as you see and hear from the many that listened duly noted and appreciated. But LOST is now over for a year, the last Transmission podcast has been released so I guess this is my time to 'let go'. I'll remove it from my iTunes library with much thanks to both of you but will check back on the blog on occasion to see what is going on. But until than - thank you both once again, all the best in your lives going forward, and Hawaii is a place my wife and I always wanted to visit, nothing planned in the short term but maybe down the road if we ever get there, we'll have the chance to quickly meet over a drink and do some LOST talk. So with that once again THANKS, I'm glad I hung in there for the last one - and the good news is it got out before Rapture ... :) Mahalo and .... Namaste Regards

Let's say many of us want it equally. And although I shouldn't exactly be raising expectations at this late date, I will say that Jen and I have carved out some solid time to record (after spending hours this past weekend tracking down clips -- whew!). We may be able to cap off "The LOST Year" as the bittersweet anniversary arrives. Thanks for hanging in there.

"most people"? speaking only for myself, I believe I'd really like to hear the final podcast more than you and Jen want to post it. But, anticipation is often more thrilling than final gratification (the Christmas Eve syndrome) and so I can wait until you're ready!

I can't see how you can say I don't understand. We've fielded several similar comments and questions, and have given the only honest answer we can. Jen and I want to post our final show much more than most people want to hear it at this point. It's on our mind constantly. It's also something we've just about lost hope in doing well, and just want to do for much needed closure. And I have been consistent and almost repetitive in saying, although it's coming, we can't say when, so it's better for your health and mood to not keep checking here. Your podcast client will know when the time comes. If you don't use one, then I guess that's where you're stuck hitting this bookmark now and then. But if you're just frustrated and annoyed at this point, and want to give up, we won't hold it against you. Many have. It's just as discouraging to us to hear doubt as it is for you to not find it posted yet, but... I don't want to be a broken record, but when we say it's coming, we mean it. We even compiled some clips this weekend (since everyone's been in a reminiscing mood with the one-year anniversary coming up). In the mean time, if this has been the only place you've been looking, we'd strongly encourage you to join the greater "LOST" community on Twitter, Facebook, and other networks, where the conversation has never ended. Jen and I have participated in collaborations, made guest appearances on other podcasts, and (gasp!) explored other shows. It's great stuff. And probably much more interesting than what you'd get out of a final oversized MP3, anyway.

You don't understand. I want to hear your final podcast, but I won't know it's been posted if I stop coming by the site to check. But it's frustrating to always see "it's coming soon". It's been "coming soon" for almost a year now. Ryan/Jen put yourself on the other side for a second. If you were the ones waiting for someone else. Wouldn't you be annoyed constantly hearing "it's coming soon, but we don't know when"?

Matt, I didn't ignore your comment. I don't know what happened to my reply, which I posted five minutes after your earlier message. It would figure my own system would flag me as spam. But it's clear you're unhappy, and I'm sorry. I don't know how many times I can say it: stop checking, stop looking, and if you must, unsubscribe. For everyone else, we're still around, online, talking and reminiscing, in the great world wide web beyond this blog. To be sure, if you have a question, a comment, you can reach us any number of other ways. When we can get our final show out, we will. And if you let go, Matt, at worst, you'll be pleasantly surprised when that happens.

I would say MIB always knew where he could find Jacob--he was just powerless to do anything about it until he created his loophole. The first time we meet the two of them, in "The Incident," MIB visits Jacob on the beach, presumably in the shadow of the statue. I would try to argue that Jacob never inhabited the cabin, a theory which has a certain elegance to it as Jacob himself said he wanted to allow the people he brought to the island to find their own destinies without his intervention. So MIB would be given free rein to impersonate Jacob and to use deception and manipulation to get the chosen to cross each other off and move more game markers into the dark column. However, the protective ring of ash and Ilana's mission to seek him out there seem to contradict this. Yet another vexing incongruity. The only sensible explantion I can offer is that MIB could make itself manifest off of the island, in dream states and in the cloudy periphery. A wisp of smoke in the mind's eye. I offer up Christian's brief visit to Jack in the lobby of St. Sebastian's which set off the smoke alarm or the disturbing apparition of Claire to Kate in the O6 days. If we can begin to accept that, then maybe the appearance of Jacob to Ilana, clad entirely in black and during a moment of great trauma, was yet another such manifestation. The instructions he gave her, much as those he gave to Ben, were only meant to further his end game and not to defend the island.

So many unevoked questions down the line... The main ones being about Time Travel... Who told them to dig a runway for Ajira Flight 316? Ben never talked to Jacob directly. Richard talked to Jacob in the Cabin (why not under the foot if he knew the location? To prevent the MIB to find out about this place is my best guess but then when Jacob did go to the Cabin the MIB could have followed him afterward anyway... well...) and Jacob had no reason to tell him to build the Runway... It brought back FLocke has a valid leader and a betrayous Ben. The important man in Jacob plan was Desmond... Except if he wanted to kill himself and have a successor then it could make sense he brought the Oceans6 back... But then my question would be: MIB and Jacob knows about the future? I guess we go back then on the only one who really did through his experiment: Daniel Faraday. Maybe Jacob got the book from Eloise and thus they followed it... She is the one who send the Oceanic 6 back so I guess Jacob knew about that. Ok... then again just a small theory. (now a big isue: why some of the 6s ended up in the past while Sun didn't?... Locke was dead so it makes sense, Ben leaved the Island using the Orchid so... I guess it makes sense, but why Sun didn't go back in time?)

Just thought to just drop by and say hello to you both (and everyone else). This website is, now, a bit like Penny's phone number : there, waiting for the right moment to happen and be all magical again! :D Penny and phone calls... just like the Looking Glass one. Where she is? In a library and not on a boat, but where? And why is she in contact with the Island? ... Guess I'll never know. By the way, if someone knows a good book of theories trying to sum it all up (I think the Lost Encyclopedia is not that great) I'd really love to hear about it. Yann P.H.D.

I just ran into something interesting on the Internet. Let me quote the leading paragraph: "There was a good deal of time-travel in the ABC hit series Lost, one of the more ambitious and popular shows of the past decade. But neither Jack, Sawyer, Hurley, nor any of our other beloved 21st century castaways ever went back to the year 1969. If they had, and if they’d had access to a TV, they might have found themselves watching a show about — themselves." You can find the entire thing at http://www.openculture.com/2011/04/more_than_20_years_before_lost_--_the_new_people.html. On another note, my I am one who was disappointed with the way LOST was ended (my wife also). But I'm not going to try and convince anyone who liked the way LOST was ended that they shouldn't be. Look at it this way: there are those who didn't like the beginning of LOST and never watched the program at all or dropped out after the first episodes, but I won't try to convince them that their opinion is wrong. Everyone has their own expectations and likes and that's their business. When I do think back on LOST, the whole experience was greatly improved by The Transmission. Throughout the series, I listened to quite a few different LOST podcasts, but I found none, other than Jen and Ryan's, worth listing to. Some were DOA during the first episode I listened to, while some I tried as many as three episodes thinking they might improve. Jen, Ryan, you two did the very best. By far!
