Can an Artificial Intelligence create art?

Tue, 12 Apr 2016 09:40:00 -0700

Hello all,

Ive been experimenting with new ways of creating art using an Artificial Intelligence. Of course machines do not have feelings like we do. But what if there was a way to combine the emotions of Humans with the efficiency of machines? It might sound very futuristic, but this is the current time we live in. You can imagine this as a new tool for creating art or perhaps a new form of art.

The way it works is very simple. The AI creates paintings and then asks the users for feedback. Based on the results, the AI creates new paintings which are closer to what the users like. And the cycle repeats itself.

So far the results are intriguing. Very abstract, but also not what you would normally expect from a machine.

Im curious. What do you think? Is this an avenue worth pursuing?

You can have a look of how it all works here:

White Rabbit

Thu, 31 Dec 2015 09:41:00 -0800

I have white rabbit installed on my desk top
which I think is a very basic version of
photoshop ?

I tried to get it over on my laptop too... but
a notice comes up every time.... trial has expired !

Basically I use the whiterabbit for its abilty to use a magnetic lasso
which always works well

I go on to use the clone tool, but after ten mins or so the x where it is cloning colour from, starts to move about eratically and at that point I have to move over to Gimp.

Gimp seems to be far more stable .. clone wise and stays in one place a lot more
I find I can work on hair and other details well with Gimp... it never lets me down.

White Rabbit and Gimp are my basic tools... both free of course from the net

There may be more free art tools out there ?
