Real Breast Cancer and Pink 2010

Sun, 07 Mar 2010 19:19:06 +0000

I am going to go out today... Without a care, happy and free. I ask the PINK RIBBON to stay out of my way, I don't want to hear about it on the radio, I don't want to see it today. But we know that's impossible. It's every where.  24/7. I am a 10 year Breast Cancer Survivor. I am also a 48 year Child Hodgkin's Lymphoma survivor, a 34 year Thyroid Cancer Survivor, and a 14 year Spinal Cord Tumor Survivor. The Pink Ribbon has been around for at least 10 years, but don't you think it's out of control ? Well, for me it is.  My personal survival is my ability to FORGET. I see a PINK RIBBON, and hear an AD ? "NOW" I get MAD,  it's not once, it's 2,3,4 times a day! A constant reminder, ruining my own survival rate, being forced to think about it -- causing stress -- which causes Cancer.

New Member and Just Started a Group

Sun, 07 Mar 2010 14:22:43 +0000

I've been blogging for a year and a half.  I just found BlogHer, and started a group about life with food allergies.  My daughter was diagnosed at 4 months old as having an intolerance to fructose.  Our lives have been affected greatly, and it can be very frustrating for us as well as painful for her.  I'd love to get in contact with other women who deal with food allergies in their families.

Glad to be a new member!

Hello BlogHer-sphere!  After seeing the BlogHer button on many of the blogs that I enjoy, I figured I'd click and see what was happening.  And  here I am.  All signed up, ready to go, and slightly overwhelmed with everything this site has to offer.  I'm running down the "Using this Site" list, so that helps!

My name is Liza, my username/blog name is Blahggy.  I'm 30, am 6 months pregnant with our first child (a girl who we are naming Sailor Eleana) and live just outside of Nashville in the wondeful suburbs (after 10 years of Los Angeles, this is just great) with my husband and my awesome rescue mutt, Sampson.

I'm excited to be a part of BlogHer and am looking forward to one day being able to know my way around the site!  Can't wait to connect with other women with exciting and inspiring stories. she is six months old and i am going crazy

Sat, 06 Mar 2010 00:35:39 +0000

I dont know where to begin this is my first child I became pregnant at 17 years old and never realy got to experience adult hood my child hood was severley shelterd so this is a huge change for me. its been six months now and I have not even felt like trying to get my old body back I dont have the time or the energy. Everyone I talk to doesnt understand what I am going through they have never delt with this before. Don't get me wrong I love my daughter but I feel like I am trapped sometimes, not by her but the constant responsabilities as a mother and i dont trust many people to watch her my mother works alot and when she isnt working has other things to do and my boyfriend works nights to suport us and has to sleep during the days and I also work some nights and it is strenuis. so it seems like I never get time to my self and I havnt got to have fun with my hobbies or just simple luxuries like going to get my hair cut I dont have time to go shopping to buy clothes that are flattering to my new body and dont have time to get my old body back I am lost and confused on how to get just atleast a day or so a month to myself.

In awe of fabulous women bloggers!

Wed, 03 Mar 2010 00:20:25 +0000

Hello!  I've recently joined BlogHer (got here from a site I read religiously, the NieNie Dialogues), and from reading advice about how to get more visitors to one's blog (connect to other bloggers!).  I'm a little overwhelmed at all of the fantastic writing and ways of being connected that I'm finding here, and navigating through it a bit at a time.  Super inspiring!  I'm looking forward to figuring out more of how to get into all of this, and love knowing that there are tons of women out there with amazing things to say.  "Life well said" indeed!

Depressing yet's a balancing act

Tue, 02 Mar 2010 16:41:27 +0000

I'm new! And I have clinical depression! Just thought I'd put that out there, since most people don't ask. I blog about being a mom, being a writer, being a depressive, and being all of the above at once -- Jill-of-all-trades here. People tell me I'm funny, but don't take my word for it: read the blog!

New here!

Tue, 02 Mar 2010 10:53:54 +0000

Hi!  I'm new here, looking to stumble upon some good reading.  My name is Lisa, and I am a social worker turned stay-at-home mom.  I'm an American who has been living abroad for the past six years.  I'm new to the blogging world but definitely enjoying it.  My blog is a little bit of everything, but mostly commentary on parenthood and travel.

Thanks, glad to be here!

Debbie Does Drivel is a humor blog  - with a name like that it better be a humor blog!

There is a weekly feature called Clippings from the Fridge which features a true in-the-news wacky story every Monday, like the one titled Mooo-Ron.   Past features also include the Why I Love ME series.  I live in Maine.  State abbreviation is ME.  You thought I was a narcissist.  Pffft! Well, maybe a little.

Hope to see you there.

New Girl Can Teach You How to Ask for Money

Sun, 28 Feb 2010 19:46:22 +0000

Just joined today. If you are a solopreneur, mompreneur, entrepreneur or social entrepreneur, you'll need to ask for money. Are you asking for what you deserve? Does talking about your price make your blood run cold? How To Ask For Money exists to empower you to get over your fears and get the money you deserve.

I am a tireless champion for professional women everywhere, especially those who are starting or growing their own businesses. My greatest work is in helping my clients clear out junk that's preventing them from being confident as they ask for money. All those issues around deserving, worthiness and value that are so deeply seated and tough to get out from under. My gift is so much more than's reflecting my client's power back to her in way that she can see it, embrace it and wear it comfortably.

Hope to see you soon,

The New Girl at School

Sun, 28 Feb 2010 02:11:40 +0000

I am a 31 year old single female, and suddenly all of my life lessons are out the window when it comes to blogging. I am as new to this as I would be to a new school. All I know is I have something to say! Just not exactly sure what it is yet. The generic description of me would be............. Single white female professional/world traveler/outdoorsy chic/optimistic/poet/chef/musical guru///////// ya dig?

Hello there - following orders to introduce myself.  I'm Meredith, and I write Building Character (  My blog started out with my near obsession with home improvements... but it's broadened a bit (as the home improvements have waned - but I still have the dream).  I've got 2 kids and a husband who provide some great copy for me :)  Looking forward to digging through BlogHer!

Semi-New to Foodieland

Thu, 25 Feb 2010 21:17:41 +0000

Hi everyone! I'm Gillian, an English major/music minor, yogini, foodie and loooong-time food blog reader! I am studying abroad right now in Florence, Italy and finally decided to take the plunge and start my own food blog! I am really loving it and will without a doubt be continuing it (in other words, it's not just a study-abroad semester blog). I love talking about food in every aspect - cooking/recipes, nutrition, and the anthropological side as well like it's cultural symbolism, and especially effects on women and body image - so fascinating!

Right now, I'm hoping to go into a natural chef or baking/pastry program after graduation (next year!), and I'm also developing an idea for a novel that will involve my love for food and what I've learned about Italian culture vs. the US.

Please visit my blog - lots of pretty pictures of food & Italy! I love this community and am so excited to be a part of it :)
