15 years experience, MSEE Stanford, LabView Expert since 2001

Thu, 17 Aug 2017 00:12:58 GMT2017-08-17T00:12:58Z

Hello,

  Thanks for reading.  I have extensive experience working at companies such as Tesla, Google, Sandia National Laboratories, and many startups large and small.  LabView is far and away my favorite programming language so I am here to see if there is any work to do.

My name is Patrick Schindler.  I have an MSEE from Stanford where I majored in Compilers.  I dont hold any LabView certs but I have been actively using LabView since before there were certs to speak of and have attended many training seminars, events like NI week, etc. while working at the National Labs.

A random blog post on my website giving one take on Test Engineering using NI products R&D thru Production

My direct email and phone number

I am formally trained in parsing, regular expressions, and hardcore underlying functionality that can make very complicated things simple.  I have spent two decades working with every kind of device you would want to wrap LabView around... from meters to scopes, power supplies to programmable loads, microwatts to kilowatts.

I consider this fun work...  so I wont gouge you on rates...  especially if its a relaxed working environment.

There is no LabView solvable problem which I can not quickly solve in a clean way.  I have already made every sort of spaghetti mistake that a jr Engineer can make...  so I will write your code as I would want it written for myself.

Along with my code you get my experience...  thats free of charge if we hit it off.

thanks,

-Patrick

CLD looking for opportunities in Greater Seattle area, continuous LabVIEW experience since 1999.

Tue, 23 May 2017 21:29:12 GMT2017-05-23T21:29:12Z

I am currently looking for new job opportunities in Seattle area.

In addition to my broad educational background including two Masters Degrees in Electrical Engineering and Physics, numerous Computer Science courses taken, and many years of diverse experience in programming, system administration, and support, I have a history of numerous successful projects in the areas of industrial automation, automated control, data acquisition, measurement and test.

I've been a LabVIEW developer since 1999, got certified as a CLD in 2003 and 2017 (good through 2020) and as a CLA in 2005.

In 2004, long before the Statecharts Toolkit, LVOOP, and Actors Framework, let alone DQMH (which just got an award on NI Week 2016!) I created my own architecture and LabHSM, a toolkit for advanced event-driven actor-based development in LabVIEW and a little later made a simplified EDQSM design pattern you can still find on LAVA.

A couple of my other past contributions to the LabVIEW community:
- Created the PMS Assistant utility, well known by the LabVIEW developers interested in exploring undocumented VI Scripting features when NI tried to hide it again in LabVIEW 8 after exposing in the previous version;
- Updated the famous Tunnel Wiring Wizard utility for LabVIEW 8;

I also have done several projects involving HMI, digital I/O, motion control, vision, communication between a PC and PLC's, using not only LabVIEW but also Visual Basic, Think & Do, Steeplechase and other software tools which proves that my experience and background enable me to master any software development tool quickly, making me a perfect candidate who can always keep up with the ever-changing world of computer technologies.

In the recent years I had quite extensive experience with not only storing the test data from stations running software made in LabVIEW into an SQL Server database but also making web-based reports using SQL Server Reporting Services. As you can guess from EDX certificates appearing on my LinkedIn profile (https://www.linkedin.com/in/stanislav-rumega), I am currently pursuing Microsoft Professional Degree in Data Science.

PhD LabVIEW developer, Northern CA, can travel to Bay Area

Thu, 18 May 2017 18:27:47 GMT2017-05-18T18:27:47Z

A few years ago I was involved as chief programmer in a three-year LabVIEW software development project for the Chemistry Department at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. The project included data acquisition (with input, output, and signaling in precise lockstep), management of custom hardware, convolution computation in which I wrote an external C++ add-on to gain speed, creation of a custom file format (because datafilee are often too large to be contained in memory at one time) and extensive data analysis with an extensive user interface supporting it. The project, now available to the public, is called HDCV and can be obtained from the University of North Carolina.

I'm looking for more LabVIEW work, perhaps along these lines. I live near Redding, California, and am prepared to work remotely and commute to the Bay Area from time to time as needed to maintain effective contact.

I can get you a glowing recommendation from my boss on that project, Prof. Mark Wightman.

Education:

PhD Computer Science, Stanford University, 1988

BA Physics, minor in Chemistry, University of Virginia, 1980.

(All of which came in useful, together, in the pursuit of  my recent project.)
