Lake County Fire Rescue has upgraded its level of service from basic life support (BLS) to advanced life support (ALS) at two fire stations beginning this week.

Now in its ninth year of production, the Lake County Adopt-a-Lake Program is again seeking beautiful original photographs of Lake County waterways for its classic Adopt-a-Lake calendar. The top 14 photographs, as chosen by a panel of volunteers, will be featured in the 2018 publication.

Firefighters; deputies help save water-logged blue heron

In the search for an elusive python, Lake County Fire Rescue’s Chief Dan Miller and Lt. Jason Rivera instead discovered a struggling blue heron. The bird, an iconic symbol in the county’s logo, was found water-logged in Astor’s flooding.



Water distribution site is now open for Astor residents beginning today

Lake County is opening a point of distribution for water for Astor residents at the Astor Boat Ramp, 55400 Butler St. until 7 p.m. today and from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. tomorrow. The limit is one case of water per household. Water is for Astor residents only; identification may be required. Ice is not available.



County government resumes services; storm debris removal update

All county government operations under the Board of County Commissioners will open Thursday with the exception of the Astor and Cagan Crossings libraries due to power issues
