Is Oil Against the World's Economy?
21.08.08 | *The author is Venezuela's former OPEC's Governor (2003) | At the beginning of June 2008 , the price of oil looked unstoppable, going toward figures that until recently were unimaginable. The situation had reached such a level of sensitivity that just the fact that an investment bank like Morgan Stanley forecasted on June 06, 2008 that the oil price would reach $150 a barrel in a month time was enough to produce an increase of more than $10 in a few hours.%26gt;%26gt;

London - Venezuela Oil Deal Explained
London 04.06.08 | Former Mayor of London Ken Livingstone seems to be every bit a sore loser as his militaristic caudillo mate from Venezuela. In a rather pathetic attempt at justifying the 'oil deal' that he signed with Chavez, Livingstone wrote recently "A piece of mindless vandalism" for Comment is Free. If there's somebody who could be defined as vandal, that is Ken Livingstone, who not content with wasting Londoners' tax money in his deranged and megalomaniac 'foreign policy' gigs, had the bloody chutzpah of taking money from an utterly under-developed country to prop up his political standing. His piece needs some debunking.

Bolívar no sería chavista.

Unas cuantas no?

Hugo Chavez: sponsor of terrorism
15.05.08 | INTERPOL just announced what has been a foregone conclusion: Colombia did not fabricate files and data contained in laptops of slain narco-terrorist Raul Reyes, killed in Ecuador on 1 March this year. Since, information contained in said laptops have led Colombian authorities to seize Uranium in Bogota and cash in Costa Rica. President Uribe’s all out eradication policy against drug dealing terrorists from FARC will likely be boosted, given the wealth of data, much of which points to Caracas. That Chavez has been in bed with Colombian narco terrorists is nothing new. What will become truly interesting is how President Uribe out-chavezes Chavez with the intel he’s got now: FARC top leaders move freely in Venezuela where they have presidential protection.

Is voting illegal in Bolivia?
Santa Cruz 04.05.08 | The first question the BBC reporter asked me was why we were participating in an electoral event deemed illegal. As much as I wanted to ask him what sort of evidence existed to support such argument, beyond what the government of Evo Morales had been saying, I stated that it was premature for us, as electoral observers invited by the electoral regional body, to express any opinion in that respect. Our role in this process is one of observation. Therefore in the interest of impartiality it is expected of us to hear all sides and their arguments. Nonetheless the questioned legality of this process is worth discussing, and we shall be doing so in many years to come.
