Ah, I need to make time to write part 2 which is about authentication, including distributed identity schemes.

Regarding a strong identity, have you considered MicroID?

Hi Graham ! I guess that's questioning having elections *at all*, and in my example, asking the kids what they'd like, rather than giving them what's good for them is maybe the mistake. Great to hear from you!

Hi, Paul ! I still haven't made my mind up. AV seems to be a bit like the jury system - fine in principle but practically ineffective. I served on a jury, and it was a waste of time, money and effort. Most of the people didn't even understand exactly what they were there for. I suspect AV will prove to have the same effect. ( No, I don't subscribe to the NO Campaign view that everyone is thick ! )

You still need a decent selection to make it worth voting at all though!

Ugh, oh. I'm guessing Kebabs would be an extreme minority for our household. It's not perfect example, if in the preference poll Zoë had put Sausages in second place then with this small electorate we'd have a tie which is where the different forms of instant-runoff get quite complex. I guess we'd have to flip a coin between curry and sausages.

Brilliant. We had a similar practical demonstration of democracy in action to choose takeaway a few weeks ago. It turns out that the kids like stuff from the kebab shop a lot more than they knew or I anticipated.

It's not a perfect example, Zoë actually flipped her vote in the polls, but you get the idea.

I-Spy a new blog post by @psd! That's at least 50 I-Spy points? Not quite as rare as an eclipse but good to see again anyway...
