I so agree with your assessment of the written word. I still hold onto my grandmother's letters to me as a child because every one's handwriting is uniquely their own and brings with it the sweet remembrance of them.

Great example, Debbie. Thanks for passing it along. It's amazing how a fit word, even one passing along serious criticism, can encourage one. "Go and sin no more" can be encouraging, as it suggests a way . . .

When I was 19 my father said to me, "Go out and conquer your world". He was a man of few words, and the words he did speak back then were mostly negative, critical and hurtful. But that one sentence changed my perspective and set me on a course of victory. Of course I failed at many attempts but I could hear him in the background of my mind saying over and over, "Go conquer your world". Ahhh, the power of the written or spoken word, it has the power to bless or curse.
