I too have had similar problems with a Linksys printserver connected to my I-MAC computer. I have tried and retired to get the printserver to work. I am going to use your suggestions to call Linksys tech support.. great article. Robe in Tn.

Dear Ms. Bean, I have recently opened a computer repair and internet cafe in PA. My business partner and I want to help the Seniors in our community enjoy the benefits of using the computer and the internet. From Skyping with their grandchildren, creating Word documents to save their secret recipes, downloading and listening to their favorite music, to filling out forms for Medicare Part D that is now only online. I have only read your first and second tip and have decided I have found the best site to help us in our endever. Looking forward to reading all your work regarding ways to make learning comfortable for Seniors. If you have anything specific you'd like to share, we'll be looking forward to it. Thank you, Sincerely, Bruce

You can specify the settings for Quicktime in the export dialog. There is a setting for CD (medium quality), but I found using the advanced settings worked much better. Use the custom setting, as shown in the post. You may have to experiment with which settings in the custom window work best. It took me quite a few tries just to get the quality I wanted, then several more tries to get the Keynote settings so they would transition properly. :-) Good luck - the good news is that once you get it right, you'll remember it forever!!

Hi! Many thanks for the tips. I am going Crazy with Keynote and need URGENT help. I have made a Keynote presentation that will ultimately have to be shown via a DVD player. Exported it to QuickTime. Visual quality was ok. THEN when i burn it on a DVD all the text got blurred. Have been trying for ... ages now ... WHAT TO DO. Please help!

Congratulations on your article series about teahing computers to older people. I happen to be working on that too, indeed it is totally rewarding, there is nothing like seeing the satisfaction older people get from acquiring knowledge and geting control over technology. I am grateful but also feel very responsible for my job. Thank you for sharing these tips. It would be nice to share more whenever you have time and inspiration!
