In most of Europe it's been the norm to have to pay for your trolley before you enter the store. Even a small cost is enough incentive to stop most people stealing a trolley and careering down the High Street after a few too many pints, however it can be awkward for many people. If you have an operator at the trolley park then it's no problem and some will give change, but in larger stores with many thousands of trolleys it's just too much for one person and in these days of cost-cutting, why bother at all? Truth is, many don't and they have employed automatic trolley coin devices to all their trolleys which means the process doesn't require any staff at all. But what if you don't have a coin?

In the UK this is a big problem because as we move towards more electronic means of payment, fewer of us have coins rattling about in our pockets and so an interesting market has opened up for the 'trolley coin'. This is simply a disc in the same shape as a pound coin that is attached to a key ring. It's a work of genius for many reasons but the two big advantages are that it is always with your keys and you can't spend it.

Even better, most of them cost only a pound to buy in the first place meaning you are essentially just exchanging one pound for another!

These trolley coins or trolley key chains as they are sometimes called can be purchased from many stores and on he web in lots of places, but they are also given away as charity prizes and by companies looking to promote themselves to their customers. Putting your brand on something that is always in your customer's pocket is a wise move and so you can immediately see why they have become so popular.
