Jazz: H2O Man by kpenson

Wed, 25 Apr 2018 22:50:50 -0400

(image) Updated version with drum solo and guitar with wah-wah effect. Funky version of Herbie Hancock's original from the 60's "Watermelon Man". My version is based on a version I heard on Spotify by the band "New York Jazz Lounge".
Recorded using my usual setup which now includes an electric Strat copy. I will be using the Strat for most future projects requiring a rhythm track and blues soloing. Thanks for your support.

Jazz: smoove jazz collaboration by EmmaPeel

got to first make my disclaimer that i am absolutely unable to add bob's name as collaborator at the moment. by sometime tomorrow, enough time should have passed and i will add his name when i am able to. it's all about icomp's gui insanity.

bob's icomp moniker is w1wav.

okay stop the world and let me off. this guy for some reason is not a billionaire on his music and i have NO idea why. this guy -- w1av -- bob freakin' ruzzo -- in rhode island --

i have no recollection of who or what led me to him. this guy is flat out one helluva genius. i would listen to one song. then another. i'd get busy with life and i'd listen to another. oh, please world -- listen to this guy and if you can keep yourself from moving your soul has got to be deader than the proverbial doornail.

oh, my bob. thank you SO SO much for allowing me to collaborate on this genius work!

bob ruzzo -- instrumentals (beyond belief instrumentals)
my humble and grateful self on vocals

how have i ever gotten to be so fortunate to work with the incredible people i'm working with?

Ambient: snowflowers collaboration by EmmaPeel

Wed, 25 Apr 2018 14:26:26 -0400

as advice to all who want to shoot me for only naming myself -- it's icomp's gui not allowing me to do so for a timespan of at least 6 hours after posting the song. please do not ask me why it does that, but it does, so it is what it is and here's more on the collaboration, for which the subtitle will give credit where credit's due asap!

it's w1av alias bob ruzzo with snowflowers again -- welcoming me to join his incredible fingers on strings with my vocal strings. you won't be bored with lyrics -- it's merely an improvisational scat -- he's so talented! i felt at one with this song and really want to thank him immensely for this opportunity to collaborate.

instrumentals and mixing -- bob ruzzo
vocals -- emma peel

Pop: Butterfly 2 by ChristianElder

Tue, 24 Apr 2018 09:50:16 -0400

(image) This track was written about my teenage daughter. She, like her elder sister is heavily into her dance competitions but unfortunately her body has been letting her down over the past 18 months because of puberty and all.

She’s been suffering from a hip complaint which makes her almost lame. She’s ended up in hospital a couple of times the poor thing. She has the added pressure of a pretty older sister that she’s trying to emulate and like me she can be negative at times.

The title was inspired by the same picture that inspired the Zebra track which I uploaded a couple of years ago.. It’s also a symbol that caterpillars grow into beautiful butterflies in the end.

I hope you enjoy it.

Rock: Life Ain't Sposed To Be Fair by falconep

Tue, 24 Apr 2018 07:58:33 -0400

(image) Marvel's "Avengers: Infinity Wars" opens this week

Why Spiderman? Probably the best example of a super hero that understood life is never fair. (And, I needed an excuse to use the Danny Elfman "Spiderman power chords" from the 1st Tobey Maguire movie as the break.)

Personal observation: Everyone eventually gets the memo; but too many don't understand. They want a perfect world without any hard-knocks lessons. Paradoxically, when you accept the truth, life is easier to maneuver through.

Example: In his book "Change of Seasons: A Memoir
by John Oates w/ Chris Epting" (of Daryl Hall and John Oates fame), describes how after 20 years of awards, acclaim, stardom and induction into the Hall of Fame, his accountants presented him with the fact that he was millions of dollars in debt. What he later realized was that it was the best thing that ever happened to him.

Other: Dream A Little Dream with me. by Dorothy_Wilson

Tue, 24 Apr 2018 04:06:21 -0400

(image) A really nice little song.. Dream A Little Dream with me- recorded at my house, in 2012. my neighbour a lovely young girl called `Enya Marie Pic above
that lived round our corner from me. Sang this one just for me... Especially.. With my Improvised backing music I love it.. Thank you Enya (image) ( I met her one day in a charity shop in late 2011 we got chatting and then we realised we only lived a stones throw from each other)
I encouraged her and helped her record some of her own original songs with no effects on at all. And some cover songs, here at my house. On my GarageBand,.. First time she had ever had the courage to sing in front of any one else. Also had never sang in public. that all changed after she knew me. I did my utmost best to let her know she has beautiful voice, and it was great pleasure for me to help her. Haha 3 weeks later she was singing on the Karaoke in our local Pub and she was on her way....

Rock: Notice by TapicusMaximus

Tue, 24 Apr 2018 00:00:34 -0400

(image) A new composition, put together using the Chapman Stick, tapping and the Keith McMillen 12-step. Kind of fun, because not only can you get the 12 step to trigger notes, and basically play piano with your feet, but it can also trigger some notes via ultrabeat. The triggered stuff was pretty simple hahaha one stomp plays the loop (the time ends up being a bit whacky, but it worked out this time!)
This one was the best of several takes. Also it features my deadly single string RH lick from heck (Stolen from Yngwie)

I like to think that my sound is on the aggressive side!

I hope y'all dig it. Kind of a soundtrack for detective work, noticing things was the theme...

(image) Song is not as Dark as the image suggests (Maybe). Pretty upbeat. I think one can dance to it on "Bandstand" if need be (Maybe). Hopefully hitting some dynamics.

A mix of Rock and Edgar Allens Poe's "Tomb of Ligeia" story with a nod to Down's "Bury Me In Smoke". Plus the added goodness of Bass and Wah!!!!!

Jazz: nestor burma theme tribute -- collaboration by EmmaPeel

Mon, 23 Apr 2018 15:29:10 -0400

well what do you know? c'est moi, encore --

this time it's with our wonderful frenchi -- patrick lafayette.

he's permitted me to sing along with a favorite show and theme that we both share, spanning both sides of the atlantic. my goodness, what fun!

i tried to stifle the highs, as i was recording at 4a when i'm up and my upstairs neighbors are not. (my decibels increase uncontrollably when this coloratura is set free).

this was our first true french connection, as the last one was scat-only and didn't really show my appreciation for our beautiful mother tongue, french. how lovely that he even provided the mixing. i DO hope to get a chance to work with this bon garcon again!

patrick lafayette, instrumentals
emma peel, vocals
karine michel, lyrics/music
klou & petit eleve, lyrics research; my heartfelt thanks to each of them.

ain't this fun? arre el paso! (that means giddyup, partner!) whoowhee!!!!!!!!!!
