Rock: The Jesse Whetsell Band LP: Side 1, Track 2 - Stub My Toes [Single] by JulietsFuneral

Fri, 24 Nov 2017 11:28:30 -0500

There's actually 6 more minutes of jamming to this track but iComp will only let me upload a 20mb file... So we'll call this the single version.

Full length on the LP.

LP available for Pre-Order.

Work on this album began in November of 2016 in North Platte, NE after Jordan emailed Jesse a nice hour long drum jam. Jesse put the album on hold after trying to work dealing with depression and bi-polar anxiety for 2 months in Nebraska; deciding to take a break and return to his hometown in Baltimore, MD. There, the album sat on hold again for another 4 months, almost being thrown out entirely. Finally, in late September 2017; with inspiration, hope and the warm fire of desire renewed; Jesse completed the album with a new goal in mind... "Let's put it on Vinyl!"

(image) My friend's wife lost her battle with cancer. At the end I talked with him about their relationship and their conversations throughout and about how they might use their precious time left.

He talked about her sense of humour when dealing with the state of the world she was about to leave. I went home and wrote this.

A Cappella: Uguisu (Nightingale) by carlajpatterson

Wed, 22 Nov 2017 15:57:37 -0500

(image) Loving a cappella performances as much as I do, I am always moved by those by others which make me want to try a new song or new language even. I found Yoshikazu Mera while googling countertenors and was immediately entranced by his voice and his use of it. In English, French, Japanese, or Russian, whether singing Japanese folk or art songs, operatic arias, female or male roles, he never disappoints. That voice! Anyway, this is a Japanese art song written by Fumio Hayasaka in 1944 which Mera covered on his album Japanese Art Songs. You should definitely check him out.

This is an improv based on Uguisu where I staggered my voice twice to achieve the results. Done for Improv Friday at Soundin.org. First thing I've done musically in quite a long while. Still, as simple as it is, I like it.

(image) T'is the season (of road rage, incivility, anxiety, politics at the dinner table, wearing stupid sweaters, weather delays, over spending, trampling your fellow man to get that 100" TV for 75% off, etc.). Here's a little tune to push all that aside and remember what it's all about.
Thanks for listening - More Holiday music to come

Classical: Dreadheart by glendt

Tue, 21 Nov 2017 13:44:26 -0500

(image) Theme for the Vampire, Nighren.

"Being from a time of the first era, Nighren is an elderly vampire whom have thrived and indulged in nearly everything life could truly offer. He is an honorable man, and he values loyalty greater than anything else. He has a loving daughter, a loving wife, and a most honored friends and allies.

Nighren has however, sought away from the ordinary life for quite a while, and with time he has joined the infamous Dark Brotherhood, but it was not before he too, made a name for himself as the "Dreadheart", a monster who have terrorized the commoners of Tamriel, or so it is belived.

In truth, Nighren has only committed his vile horrors upon those he deemed it deserving, which would be anyone, that would seek either himself harm, or any of his kindred. He would never commit horrors upon anyone with reason, but neither would he seek away from committing the most horrible of crimes against his enemies."

I came across this recording tonight, from 5 years ago but I never posted to iCompositions.

Great song and and an exceptionally fine solo by Eric Clapton, reasonably faithfully copied but without his masterly touch. Very tough to get his feel.

New Age: Night in Camelot by pieresis

Mon, 20 Nov 2017 17:54:54 -0500

(image) "Night in Camelot”
12° Album by Pieresis 2017
Genere New Age e “Brian May Red Special”: la mia chitarra! (image)
(image)
Grazie per come continuate a seguirmi!!
