Politicians Have Opinions, But Facts Are Facts! 5 Scenarios

Mon, 23 Apr 2018 07:07:15 -0500

A wise man once said, everyone is entitled, to his own, personal opinion, but, not, his own facts! The difference between an opinion, and a fact, is, regardless of one's personal agenda, self - interest, etc, there are only one set of actual facts. Those who, either, have observed, or been involved, in any sort of poltical campaign, or occurrences, should realize, politicians often, publicly deny actual facts, in order to articulate the positions, which they favor!

The Availability of Guns Is the Issue, Not Mentally Ill Shooters

Sat, 21 Apr 2018 20:14:17 -0500

No mental health interventions will ever prevent the vast majority of shootings in our homes, on our streets and in our schools. Strict gun control laws that reduce the availability of guns will.

What Making America GREAT Should Mean?

Fri, 20 Apr 2018 07:11:55 -0500

There's often considerable difference, between, a politician's or elected official's rhetoric, promises, and slogans, and reality! We have had politicians, base their campaigns on security/ safety, the economy, change, and, in the Presidential campaign, of 2016, the successful candidate, used the catch - phrase, Make America Great Again. However, like all slogans, reality is rarely, as simple, and/ or simplistic, as making a statement, promise, or using some rhetoric, because, there are generally, several possibilities, and every action taken, or avoided, leads to some form of ramifications!

How Our Representatives Earn The TRUST

Thu, 19 Apr 2018 07:18:29 -0500

Wouldn't it be better, if those we elect, to serve and represent us, proceeded, with the finest intentions, and earned our trust and admiration, by putting our interests, ahead of their self - interests, and/ or personal/ political agenda? Unfortunately, as indicated and demonstrated, by nearly every public opinion poll, politicians, are, consistently, considered, the least trustworthy, and most un - trusted group, by the vast majority of Americans. Although, this has been true, for generations, in recent times, perhaps because of the increase in focus, on partisan (rather than bipartisan) approaches, even fewer people, believe in their elected officials...

Darwin Rises Again

Wed, 18 Apr 2018 14:20:25 -0500

Darwin's theory of Evolution does have some lacunae. Several old theories have been displaced by new ones, and so Darwin's Theory should at least be discussed by experts dispassionately.

Rising From the Ashes

Wed, 18 Apr 2018 07:11:20 -0500

Recently I had the privilege of listening to Eva Abrams tell her Holocaust story at the Criminal Justice Day in Batavia, NY sponsored by local community groups. The theme of the day was surviving and thriving after trauma. I have read accounts of the Holocaust and seen movies presenting various aspects of the events involved. Yet they seem to be fading from the memory and awareness of the public these days. This has happened despite their central place among the events of the twentieth century. This was the first time I have heard a live first hand account from a survivor's own lips.

Examine What Elected Officials SEEK

Wed, 18 Apr 2018 07:04:37 -0500

Have you ever wondered, why it so often, seems, the American electorate, fails to recognize, the difference between, politicians, who focus on making empty promises, and using rhetoric, and/ or blaming and complaining, rather than seeking the best qualified, and equipped alternatives, who faces reality, and offers viable, even, if, somewhat, unpopular solutions? While popularity often gets someone elected, it generally doesn't achieve, what's needed, and necessary! Populists often focus on shorter - term, and/ or immediate obstacles, portraying them as problems, and articulate a message, stating they are uniquely qualified and capable of making a difference.

5 Common Sense Gun Policies Which Responsible Gun Owners Should Welcome

Tue, 17 Apr 2018 07:13:32 -0500

For generations, issues related to gun ownership, sensible gun control legislation, etc, have been, some of the most divisive, controversial, political debates, in this nation. Some gun owners have stated, their right to own a gun, is a guaranteed, constitutional right/ protection, and use the Second Amendment, as their proof of this right, to bear arms. Others claim, logical measures, are needed, and necessary, to protect the population, and use, the gun violence, incidents, to punctuate, their point!

5 Ways To Identify Fake Facts

Mon, 16 Apr 2018 07:01:28 -0500

If something is fake, it's not factual, yet, we consistently witness, what has recently, often, been referred to, as Fake Facts! The frequency, and possible harm, this may do, has become the impetus, and driving force, behind, the creation of organizations, which do, fact - checking, on the claims, and statements, made, by many of today's political leaders! Politicians have always, been, somewhat, fast - and - loose, with the facts, but, it seems, we have never witnessed, this tendency and behavior, to this extent, and degree!

Political Confusion: Conservative, Liberal, or Moderate? What Does It Mean?

Fri, 13 Apr 2018 12:29:34 -0500

How can we hope, to have a more unified society, where people consider the perspectives, needs, perceptions, priorities, etc, of others, until/ unless, there is a concerted effort, to reduce our reliance on, using labels? Expressions, such as Far Right, Liberal, Progressive, Conservative, and Moderate, rather than merely indicating someone's political choice or focus, have often, been used, to chastise, and label, things, we don't agree with. America should represent all our citizens, and, wouldn't we all, be better served, if we would follow, the concept, of having the right to one's opinions and perspectives, as well as being willing...

Is Common Sense Governing An Oxymoron?

Thu, 12 Apr 2018 07:02:20 -0500

Doesn't it often seem, common sense appears, to be lacking, in far too many of our government officials? Rather than focusing on realistic, rational, effective, relevant, sustainable solutions, we often witness, elected officials, who focus, far more than on their personal, self - interest, and/ or, political agenda, rather than, on serving, the constituents, who elected them! Is common sense, governing, realistic, and possible, or is it, actually, an oxymoron.

Diplomacy, Fighting/Confrontation, Or Both?

Wed, 11 Apr 2018 07:19:09 -0500

Historically, most nations have prioritized diplomacy, and diplomatic efforts, rather than seeking confrontations, etc! While a diplomat, might, or might not, produce effective results, doesn't it make sense, to prioritize, peaceful solutions, prior to confronting others, and risking wars? Few would argue, we are undergoing dangerous times, with apparent threats coming, from terrorists, foreign/ international threats, domestic infighting, as well as a new type of terrorism, stemming from cyberspace (hacking, intrusions, thefts, etc).

Public Officials Should Provide a CONSISTENT Message

Tue, 10 Apr 2018 07:26:52 -0500

Most voters determine which candidate, to vote for, not based on qualifications, solutions, or reality, but, often, far more on, whether they like the individual, some aspect of his message, personality, etc. Unfortunately, we often discuss, that, once elected, most politicians fail to evolve and/ or transform, into statesmen, and resort to catch - phrases, poltical posturing, etc, rather than serving the best interests of the constituency, they were elected, to serve, and represent! Even worse, we often witness, confusing messages, from these individuals, when we need and deserve, a CONSISTENT message.

Politician's Options: Tell the Truth, Stretch the Truth, Or Lie?

Mon, 09 Apr 2018 06:58:03 -0500

There is, often, a somewhat - fine line, between maintaining one's integrity, versus attracting constituents, in a positive, meaningful, well - focused manner! Although politicians have, seemingly, always, somewhat, stretched the truth/ facts, and made empty promises, based on rhetoric, rather than solutions, it seems, today, we are witnessing, and observing this behavior, to a far greater degree. The level of partisan politics, has brought, with it, little cooperation, or willingness, to compromise, for the common good, and, thus, it seems, very little progress, on some of the most relevant issues (or, at least, what should be), occurs!

Critical Thinking: Does The Establishment Want People To Be Disconnected From Their Instincts?

Sun, 08 Apr 2018 09:50:24 -0500

After a terrorist attack has taken place in England, people are usually told that they shouldn't get angry. Getting angry after something like this has taken place is seen as something negative.

Ramifications Of 5 Populist Actions

Fri, 06 Apr 2018 07:01:29 -0500

Balancing the perceived necessity of a politician, articulating rhetoric and promises, in order to be elected, with the need, for elected, public officials, to behave, in a responsible, responsible manner, understanding, the potential ramifications of their actions and behavior, is, perhaps, the greatest challenge, America's political system, faces! We often, witness candidates, run for office, with a populist message and approach, while generally providing few details, or strategies, for achieving and accomplishing these ideas. Today, perhaps more than we have ever witnessed, in recent memory, it has become obvious, these populist, articulations, of empty rhetoric, may bring numerous undesirable ramifications...

Critical Thinking: Are Women Portrayed As Victims In The Western World?

Thu, 05 Apr 2018 11:29:23 -0500

Although it would be easy to believe that the mainstream media exists to tell people what is actually taking place in the world, this is rarely what happens. Instead, this source of information has their own narrative that they impose upon others Now, this is not to say that there is only one narrative in existence, as there are a number of different stories that are being told. What can play a part here is what side of the political spectrum a news organisation gravitates to.

5 Reasons We Witness So Little Common Sense In Government

Thu, 05 Apr 2018 07:14:30 -0500

How often have you observed, certain actions (or failure to take them), by those, serving as public officials, or in government representation, and thought, it just doesn't make any sense? Anyone, who has taken the time, to study, examine, and review, history, recognizes, there have been many errors made, and while, making these errors in judgment, might be explainable, when they are done, for the first time, unless/ until, those serving in government, take the time, and make the effort, to relevantly learn, from the past, and not repeat the same mistakes! Today, perhaps more than ever before, in recent...

America: Corporation or Society

Tue, 03 Apr 2018 15:23:01 -0500

For several centuries America has worked to become a society in the sense of being a community with common laws and customs. We have made progress toward this ideal over the years although we have always had more to do to "form a more perfect union." This was our goal stated in the preamble to our constitution. Our country has always had more to offer to people of wealth and power than to those less fortunate. We have had times of progress toward meeting the needs of all or citizens and times when the needs and wishes of the few outweighed the needs of the many.

Propaganda, Goebbels and Our Era

Tue, 03 Apr 2018 09:03:16 -0500

"Many roads lead to violence or hatred: discouragement and loss of hope, inertia and apathy, the development of bitterness and grudge leading to violence, not always the same in quality and modes of expression. The end result is a diffused discomfort that can turn into extreme violence " Claudine Haroche Paul Joseph Goebbels was Minister of Propaganda of Nazi Germany in 1933-1945. The Professor of Psychology at Yale University, Leonard Doob in 1950, based on published and unpublished excerpts from Goebbels' diary, summed up Goebbels' basic principles of propaganda. These principles have been studied extensively by communication researchers and they are considered particularly applicable in the digital world but also in politics.

The Essence Of American FREEDOM

Tue, 03 Apr 2018 07:18:24 -0500

When politics, and political agendas, become more significant to certain public officials, and/ or citizens, than what the core meaning, and mission, of America, has always been, we risk, entering a period, where we end up, destroying all, that has always been unique, important, significant, and relevant, to this nation! The United States of America, although, far from perfect, has always stood out, in the world, because of the principles, it represented, and its dedication to human rights of all people, as well as our welcoming, Melting Pot, focus. Those who seek to polarize, and pit one group of Americans against...

Non-Profit Organizations Which Look After Kids

Tue, 03 Apr 2018 07:00:33 -0500

This world consists of innumerable people. And amongst them are kids too. And amongst them are underprivileged kids who do not get to live their childhood in a normal, happy manner. Poverty, lack of nutrition and many more such atrocities lead them to begging and working in shops at such a tender age just for the sake of some food to eat and survive. These children need help and thus, today, we have around 902,270 public charities and around one-fifth of them work for the betterment of kids' well-being. Here in this article, a list of some of these organizations are given: -

DC Politicians' Art Of The STEAL

Mon, 02 Apr 2018 07:23:11 -0500

Since, the theory of our system of government, is based on elected officials, focusing on, and serving the best interests, of those, who voted them in, to represent and serve, the well - being of the nation, and all its citizens, shouldn't these public officials, be held responsible for the relevance, quality, and sustainability, of their actions, rather than, merely, by their promises, and empty rhetoric? Wouldn't it be wonderful, if, once elected, politicians were transformed, somewhat, magically, into statesmen, and emphasized the common good, and the best course of action, to achieve quality objectives? In 2016, Americans elected, a...

4 Ramifications Of Believing, Trusting, Arming So-Called Allies

Fri, 30 Mar 2018 07:03:38 -0500

On many occasions, in the history of the United States of America, those, in positions of leadership, determined, and decided, it was a good decison, to provide a variety of weapons, to certain other nations. Often, these choices were made, with the best of intentions, and the beliefs, we were serving the best - interests of human rights, and democracy. However, on many of these occasions, sooner, or later, these arms, ended up, in what we later believed, were threats.

Democratic Party: If They Are To Regain Control, They Must Make 1 Of 4 Choices

Thu, 29 Mar 2018 07:04:21 -0500

Most objective observers, realize, we are currently experiencing, a political climate, like we have not witnessed, in recent times! Americans appear to be more divided, and polarized, than usual, and rather, than seeking, common ground, and what might unify, most people appear, unwilling, and not ready, to do so, and fail to even consider, the perceptions, priorities, etc, of those with differing political positions. In the past, people possessed different positions, but still, usually, remained civil, in terms of their inter - personal relationships.

Celebrities: Are Celebrities Being Used To Indoctrinate Children?

Thu, 29 Mar 2018 07:02:51 -0500

Wed, 28 Mar 2018 06:58:59 -0500

In the western world, offending someone is often seen as being as bad, if not worse, than actually causing harm. When someone has this view, words are going to be seen as another form of violence.

The American Public Would Benefit If Leaders Used ZIPREFS, Not Politics

Wed, 28 Mar 2018 06:58:55 -0500

Wouldn't we all be better served, if our public officials, thought. far less, about politics, and their political agenda, and more about, how to meet the existing, as well as sustainable needs, of our citizens, and nation? Either, because the American electorate, has traditionally, bought - into, empty rhetoric and promises, rather than paying attention, and demanding viable solutions, and approaches, where, both current needs/ challenges, as well as sustainability, were emphasized, those, serving in elected positions, appear to feel, they can get away, with their present approach.

5 Ramifications Of Myopic Public Leadership

Tue, 27 Mar 2018 07:35:03 -0500

For a variety of reasons, we continue to witness, public officials, who are either, unwilling, or, not ready, to fully consider the potential ramifications of their actions (or procrastination), and, often, proceed, in a populist - oriented, direction! When we place a band - aid, on a major wound (issue), while it might, create some, perceived, and/ or actual, short - term, benefits, until/ unless, it, is formulated, with the future needs, and sustainability, it has the potential to do, far more, longer - term, harm, than short - term benefit! With that in mind, this article will attempt to...

Tue, 27 Mar 2018 07:34:54 -0500

Shouldn't Our Public Officials Learn From History? 6 Examples

Mon, 26 Mar 2018 07:10:35 -0500

Wouldn't it be, in the public's best interests, if, our elected officials, learned key lessons, from history, in order to avoid, making the same mistakes, over - and - over, again? Unfortunately, we often observe, ill - conceived, ideas, programs, and legislation/ laws, caused, either by this lack of learning, or by certain, public officials, believing they know best, and/ or denying the ramifications, demonstrated, from a historical perspective, ane better understanding the meaningful lessons, which should have been learned, from the past. With that in mind, this article will briefly examine, consider, and discuss, 6 examples.

7 Reasons Voters Continue Supporting Public Officials, Despite Their Flaws

Fri, 23 Mar 2018 07:20:50 -0500

One of the realities of the American electorate is, they often, seem, to want, to be fooled, and buy - into, the rhetoric, and, often - empty promises, made by politicians, when they are running, for office. I've often believed in the adage, One must never over - estimate, the imminent stupidity of the American voter, because, over - and - over, again, politicians have made promises, and usually, these never came to fruition. Until the electorate decides to become less apathetic, and/ or gullible, and, pay more attention, to qualifications, reasoning, and the realities (both, what they want/ wish for,...

A Moderate, Political Approach To Making America Win: 7 Keys

Shouldn't Public Officials UNIFY Us?

Tue, 20 Mar 2018 07:02:55 -0500

Students of history and politics, have stated, we have been witnessing a period of political negativity, like we've rarely, if ever, witnessed, before, at least, in recent memory! Many current, and/ or recent polls, have shown, public confidence, approval of public officials, etc, are, at, or near, all - time lows, while discomfort, and fears, are near all - time highs! Now, more than ever, wouldn't we all benefit from electing public officials, who UNIFY us, rather than polarize, and seek a meeting - of - the - minds, for the common good, rather than any personal agenda, and/ or self -...

6 Positive Approaches We Deserve From Elected Officials

Fri, 16 Mar 2018 07:21:11 -0500

We go, to the polls, and vote for individuals, who, will hopefully, focus on serving and representing, our best interests, the ideals of the nation/ our society, and the common good. Unfortunately, far too often, we elect someone, because, either we believe, he's the lesser of two evils, or are overly impressed by empty promises, and rhetoric. Often, politicians resort to negativity, and vitriol, rather than focusing on how to proceed, because, while it's somewhat, easy, to blame, and complain, this approach, rarely introduces necessary, viable solutions.

Critical Thinking: Is The Establishment Only Interested In Silencing Dissenters?

Thu, 15 Mar 2018 14:55:23 -0500

Thu, 15 Mar 2018 07:17:20 -0500

Sheriff Andy Taylor was rare indeed, and not just because he kept order in Mayberry without carrying a gun. What was even more unusual about the main character of The Andy Griffith Show was the fact that he was a single father raising his son. In 1960, right around the time that show was set, only eight percent of all households in the United States were headed by a single father.

Transforming Politicians To Statesmen: Who Do They SERVE?

Thu, 15 Mar 2018 07:12:41 -0500

Have you observed, it often appears, most public officials, spend a disproportionate amount of their time, focus, and energy, positioning themselves, for their next election campaign? Wouldn't it be nice, if, somehow, politicians transformed into statesmen, when they were elected, and shifted this focus, from politics, etc, to service, and developing/ implementing quality, relevant, sustainable, policy, for the common good, as well as for society, as a whole? Unfortunately, it is quite rare, to witness, and observe, this transformation!

How to Register a Compliment

Wed, 14 Mar 2018 07:29:23 -0500

Lately I have been discouraged by the fractures I see in society and in our daily relationships. It feels like half of us are on each side of every issue. We tiptoe around people we don't know well in order to avoid uncomfortable and heated conversations. At times through the course of our history we have been able to look to our government leaders as a source of leadership. Now we see the same divisions among our would-be leaders as we find in our communities.

Demand Your Public Officials Focus On The 4 E's

Tue, 13 Mar 2018 07:02:43 -0500

While surveys indicate, more than half of all Americans, feel, and believe, they are not, being served, effectively, by their elected officials, we continue to witness, voters, often, fail to elect, individuals, who properly serve and represent, their best interests! All too often, politicians, make many empty promises, and use populist rhetoric, in order to garner, as many votes, as possible. Wouldn't we be better off, if the electorate, became far less apathetic, and focused on the most relevant needs, and priorities, not merely by making some short - term, band - aid, solution, but, rather, were willing to consider...

The EMPHASIS Needed For The World We Need

Mon, 12 Mar 2018 07:16:16 -0500

Fri, 09 Mar 2018 07:02:31 -0600

While it is an age - old, problem, harassment, has come to the forefront, in the past year, or two, because of, the example and actions, of so many well - known, powerful individuals. Sexual harassment, in any form, especially in the workplace, is, obviously, unacceptable, but the publicity and discussion, in the public arena, is especially counter - productive! When, and, if, these accusations, are true, meaningful actions, to address them, must be taken, but, we must take care, because of the potential, for political manipulation, and false accusations, being made, for personal political gain!

Political Reality: Will Democrats Be Prepared, Or Their Worst Enemies?

Tue, 06 Mar 2018 07:01:22 -0600

Most people would agree, we are presently experiencing the most politically polarizing period in America's recent history/ memory! Few would claim, President Trump, has proceeded, and performed, as previous holders of the position, have! A Public Official's Rhetoric: 5 Considerations

Mon, 05 Mar 2018 07:16:41 -0600

One of the greatest and challenges, to an electorate making the best choices, for selecting potential leaders, and, subsequent, public officials, is paying enough attention, or having the skills and expertise, to read, between the lines, and recognize, when the rhetoric, is merely politics, and empty promises, versus, when someone, is providing true leadership, and is prepared, to truly, make a difference, for the better! One of these challenges, is, we continuously hear, candidates, speak about the need, for change, and while changes are usually, needed and necessary, there's a big difference, between changes, for the better, and merely, providing...

Fri, 02 Mar 2018 07:01:35 -0600

Many people today, regardless of their political ideology, or preferences, would probably agree, we are witnessing, a level of rhetoric, and vitriol, not observed, in recent memory. While there have always been a minority of people in the United States, with extremist views, in most instances, the tone of public discourse, has been, at least, somewhat, civil! Thu, 01 Mar 2018 20:44:17 -0600

While wellness enthusiasts emphasize personal responsibility, reason, exuberance, fitness, nutrition, stress management, personal freedoms and similar strategies over which they have some control to become healthier and enjoy life more, as opposed to just preventing illness or otherwise focusing on medical matters like checkups and such, sometimes attention must be given to real and present dangers to wellbeing beyond one's personal control. This is the case in America, a society plagued by out of control gun mayhem and little societal power or inclination to stop it, due to craven politicians under the control of the National Rifle Association (NRA). This essay examines the nature of the problems and what wellness enthusiasts and others concerned about gun violence might want to do to bring about major changes for a safer, more peaceful nation.

With all the violence, and especially, incidents, in the news, where people have been attacked, wounded, and/ or killed, by people, with guns, we have witnessed, certain well - meaning, emotionally traumatized people, calling for some sensible, sane controls, and restrictions; others, articulating their so - called, 2nd Amendment rights; others, appearing to play politics; and, many other positions, which are somewhere, in - between! The 2nd Amendment discussion, is a somewhat questionable one, because this amendment, discusses the Right to Bear Arms, which represented a State's rights, to have their own militias, as well as, unfortunately, apparently, slave -...
