Technology Leaves Baby Boomers' Groovy Talents Behind

Wed, 24 May 2017 11:18:25 -0500

What talents did you baby boomers have that are now obsolete? I could play a mean game of pong. My handwriting was absolutely gorgeous and I wrote the best letters. I drove my Pinto with a stick shift like a pro. The list goes on and on.

Tue, 23 May 2017 07:59:27 -0500

The 1% know one key thing about managing their nest egg that too many people overlook. Luckily, you don't need to have millions to take advantage of it...

The Beautiful Ones Are Not Yet Born

Mon, 22 May 2017 10:16:15 -0500

When Ayi Kwei Armah published his first novel, "the beautyful ones are not yet born" in 1968, precisely 49 years ago majority of Nigerians alive today were not yet born. I use the above caption intentionally because the issues he addressed in that novel regarding post colonial Ghana under its first President, Kwame Nkrumah remain embarrassingly pertinent in most if not all of the 54 countries in Africa. What on earth would make a nation pick an 82-year old man as an Ambassador? Why would a frail 93-year old hold on to power in a nation of about 13 million people?

Lost in Translation: The African Spring

Mon, 22 May 2017 10:15:21 -0500

While Islam and the Arabic language were the unifying factors in the Arab Spring of 2011, it is imperative to note that the uprisings originated in Africa. It is also important to point out that the only three African countries--Egypt, Libya, and Tunisia--were the ones that witnessed legitimate regime changes: Hosni Mubarak of Egypt was overthrown, arrested, and imprisoned for life; Colonel Muammar Gaddafi of Libya was overthrown and killed, and Beni Ali of Tunisia was forced to resign and hand over power to the transitional government. In addition, the uprisings led to disastrous consequences: the release of jihadists and terrorists from Arab prisons created a strong force of terrorism operatives and escalated the disastrous refugee crisis in Africa and in the Middle East.

What's Stopping Me From Leaving Singapore

Mon, 22 May 2017 09:54:05 -0500

I talk about an issue that has been swept under the rug in Singapore society for too long and tell you why Singaporeans should stay and combat these issues. Some might say that we should either keep the status quo or just run away. I suggest we do neither and revitalize the Singapore identity instead.

Jallikkattu - Not Sport, But Farce

Wed, 17 May 2017 09:43:50 -0500

Jallikkattu now becomes a hot potato topic in the country. After waging a legal war for almost a decade, the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) and Animal Welfare activists have won their case against "animal sports" such as Jallikkattu, Rekla (bullock-cart race) etc., involving bulls. A supreme Court bench comprising Justice KS Radhakrishnan and Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose, in a landmark judgment on May 2014, banned Jallikkattu, Rekla and other such 'sports'. The Supreme Court also struck down the "Tamil Nadu Regulation of Jallikkattu Act (TNRJ Act) 2009". Subsequently, on June 22, the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court dismissed 18 petitions, pending from 2009, which sought permission to conduct Jallikkattu in the State in the light of Supreme Court's ban.

Which Is The Weaker Sex? The Tough Truths

Wed, 17 May 2017 06:58:32 -0500

Women have traditionally been regarded as the 'weaker' sex. But it's becoming clear that this is a myth - the average man may be taller and heavier than the average woman but when the chips are really down, it turns out that women are tougher.

Pie in the Face of Qantas Chief Executive, Alan Joyce, Over Gay Marriage

Thu, 11 May 2017 21:07:55 -0500

Australia is a free country and we have the right to voice our opinions over any issue, at least that is what our constitution upholds. But the Chief Executive of Qantas, Alan Joyce, had a pie pushed into his face while addressing a meeting this week. The perpetrator of the incident opposes the CEO's right to publicly declare his support for gay marriage.

Rise of the Z-State and Faltering Societal Fate - Part 1

Wed, 10 May 2017 07:50:10 -0500

An aficionado of "zombie genre", or "apocalyptic" style story telling might find the notion of "z-state" fascinating. From entertaining depictions in terror-panicked shopping malls, to the U.S. CDC's metaphorical admonition for emergency planning, the apocalyptic human demise fascinates millions. On a larger scale, with concerns about natural disasters from global warming, the threat of nuclear terrorism, as well as planetary viral pandemic, and other possibilities, invites diverse perceptions about human extinction. For the smaller perspective, the certainty of death is frightening.

Is Creativity A Sudden Cessation of Stupidity?

Sun, 07 May 2017 10:43:18 -0500

Creativity is the rare mark of intellectual excellence. It is not about profound thinking either, but about strong emotional and intellectual outburst that occurs in a spur of a moment when stupidity stops like a flash and makes you realize something.

New President Trump Flirts Dangerously With Defcon 1

Thu, 04 May 2017 08:52:52 -0500

Could it be that President Donald Trump was ushered into to a darkened boardroom immediately after his election victory to met with chain-smoking faceless bureaucrats and given a reality check about how his next four years in office was actually going to be? If not then perhaps a complete lobotomy, courtesy of the American tax payer.

Why Is It Hard For Singapore To Produce An Entrepreneur Like Mark Zuckerberg?

Thu, 04 May 2017 08:48:19 -0500

In this article, I am going to write why it is hard for Singapore to produce an entrepreneur who can think, succeed and live life to the fullest like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs. Even though I wrote a few articles about internet marketing and other topics, I have never written one about my country and the reason why I do not do and probably never do again is because I might get heavily criticized by my own people. Especially those in from the elite rich and upper middle-income group...

XENOPHOBIA - The Word

Wed, 03 May 2017 14:19:25 -0500

An attempt to bring to full understanding what xenophobia is for people to be conscious of it and it also intends to make people desist from acts that will lead to that. In a civilized world, we can't afford to behave like we are in the dark ages. We have a lot of options on the table to resolve crisis.

Science and Religion, Bill Nye and the Mayor of San Antonio - A Clash of World Views in Texas

Tue, 02 May 2017 11:10:38 -0500

What factors are instrumental in creating poverty and keeping people, generation after generation, at the bottom of the socio-economical ladder? Social scientists and other researchers have accumulated mountains of data and other evidence to advance the hypothesis that education, culture, opportunity (or the lack thereof) and racism are the major variables. No reputable scholar has made a case that a poor relationship with Jesus - or other religious belief, plays a part in this unfortunate and persistent social malady.. Someone should share this information with the mayor of San Antonio. In this essay, I do just that.

Sun, 30 Apr 2017 09:49:10 -0500

Psychology, Religion, and Modern Medicine appear to have missed the very real connection between the physical, emotional and spiritual.

Black people have been forsaken since birth, but we have no one to blame but ourselves, because we allowed it to happened. In fact, everything that has happened to Black people, we allowed it to happen, but we can change. We can make life better for ourselves.

Premises: Theological And Scientific

Thu, 20 Apr 2017 07:13:40 -0500

There are just certain near absolute premises that we knit together to form our own personal coherent philosophical worldview of life, the Universe and everything. While these premises are always subject to reviews and revisions, they don't usually alter drastically once we mature and get reasonably fixed in our ways of looking at things. So, in the here-and-now, here are a few of my basic theological and scientific premises.

Wed, 19 Apr 2017 08:53:02 -0500

No child wants to be part of exploitation, be it sexual or otherwise. They are intimidated by the adult world to participate, be it through pornography, prostitution or child trafficking. A child is simply not capable, emotionally or otherwise, to fight back, and it is the duty of societies to take care of each single child and ensure protection against such evil exploitation of the innocent.

Even horse lovers will go for a horse-drawn carriage ride in the city, thinking of it as romantic and fun.

Sex Toys: Good or Evil? (2)

Wed, 19 Apr 2017 07:27:51 -0500

All prostitutes, immoral sinners including sex toy users and other 'masturbators' are possessed with sex demonic spirits. Mary Magdalene; a prostitute and other women were having these issues until they came to Jesus who cast out those spirits upon their repentance. And they became free. Look at Mary, after that encounter with Jesus her real person, gift, love for God came out. She immediately became one of the most trusted followers of the Lord Jesus. She ministered to Jesus, stood by Him at the Cross, watched His burial, came early to observe his sepulchre and also was privileged to see the risen Lord. Wow!.You real personality, your love for God will only come out when you throw away or burn those instrument of immorality called sex dolls, toys and vibrators.

Demonitisation Basics and My Understanding

Wed, 19 Apr 2017 07:01:03 -0500

We all know how Modi has criticized the Congress government on the ground of demonetization. I would like to present differentiating views with respect to demonetization in India. But we should understand here that the past & current situations are not exactly similar. The aggregate GDP rate at that time was just 4.9% while it is 7.9% at present.

Immigration of Thoughts: From Bigotry to Openness

Sun, 16 Apr 2017 13:18:49 -0500

As a part of global society, it is our duty that instead of falling for the footsteps of bigotry, we should promote openness at all levels of life. This seriously includes the wholehearted acceptance of immigration phenomenon and recognition of immigrants as equal humans. On the flip side, if we are subjected to the slant of judging differences rather than embracing diversity then it would be wise to implement, without further ado, the immigration of thoughts.

Idleness Is Wanting To Waste Time And Do Nothing

Wed, 12 Apr 2017 08:14:56 -0500

Our instincts are always to save energy. For most of the human evolution that didn't matter because if you wanted to put dinner on the table you had to work really hard. Laziness has no room for diligent people.

What Makes Us Have the Attitude and the Forethought to Do the Things That We Do?

Animal Rights: The Cognitive Dissonance of Arrogance

Mon, 10 Apr 2017 09:25:23 -0500

This is a time in our history in which numerous dynamic changes and possible truths have come forward. There are things now possible that we have only been able to dream of in the past, and there is knowledge abound that can help save us all. At the apex of these wondrous breakthroughs, there is another idea that should not be so revolutionary: The idea that human beings and animals share the same rights, and that all species should be treated equally.

Coming Up - War Between Corporate Bureaucracy and Knowledge Workers

Thu, 30 Mar 2017 14:16:31 -0500

Like never before, the post capitalist society in India is facing problems from within. In one sense, it is tradition vs. status quo; friction between intellectuals and managers resulting in negative growth of industries.

Social Stagnation in Superstitious Rumination

Wed, 29 Mar 2017 08:37:43 -0500

Recently, in an online publication, which shall remain unnamed due to citation variances among differing publications wherein little consistency prevails, published a rather informative article regarding public inclinations toward "anti-intellectualism". In agreement with this, it can be readily observed, providing one takes the time and effort, that on a selective range, American society is devolving into a gluttonous lethargy of "anti-thinking". As such, emotionalism trumps reason, and whining, groveling and temper tantrum throwing selfishness over-ride intellectual advancement.

The Eternal Stalker Named Death: More Tragic Scripts!

Thu, 23 Mar 2017 11:58:38 -0500

The way death claims its victims is as normal as it is unique. One wonders who writes the scripts for some of the victims who perish without knowing why. These scripts are always most inhumanly creative, cruel beyond imagination and most horrendously instantaneous...

Power of Conviction

Wed, 22 Mar 2017 13:58:15 -0500

This article follows on from the Power of Expectations to highlight an area where many of us as educational professionals and parents alike fail. The Power of Conviction - This basically means if you say it, then mean it! This is one of those powers that is easy to say and understand but very difficult to put into practice as it takes a steadfastness, that all too often we are willing to compromise for that easy life. I use that phrase deliberately because I would like you to reflect on it at the end of this piece.

Kings on Horses

Wed, 22 Mar 2017 06:49:57 -0500

Just about every king has had a portrait painted astride a horse, usually a white one, or some other animal. Their strength and power is enhanced and their presence dominates as a result. Who can bypass that of Napoleon astride his mare while leading his army into battle.

All Hail - "The Aqua Squad"

Tue, 21 Mar 2017 11:01:44 -0500

A light-hearted pun intended at the citizens of India. How many of them lack the so-called common sense. I wouldn't be wrong to say that 'common sense is everything but common.'

Reflections of One's Behaviour in That of Others

Tue, 21 Mar 2017 06:53:40 -0500

How many times do we hear politicians accuse their opponents of being liars and cheats? It's a human characteristic that what you see in others is what is really within yourself. If you see others as liars, then one should examine their own behaviour and would find that they are also prone to bend the truth.

2017 International Challenges As Per CFR, UN, And Academic International Affairs Experts

Tue, 21 Mar 2017 06:48:02 -0500

Do you ever find it maddening that our political leaders always identify the current and some of the future problems in our city, county, state, country or the world - and then tell us that they will solve those problems? The big kicker is that most of those problems we have or face were created by people just like them working for the Great Intentions Paving Company LLC. It's also frustrating that our leaders regardless of political affiliation seem to love to practice the definition of insanity - always proposing the same types of solutions which have never worked before. Okay so, let's talk about this real world problem shall we?

A Big Surprise From The PCT

Tue, 14 Mar 2017 08:25:46 -0500

My idea was to collect a series of individual stories from hikers who have undertaken the 2640-mile journey on the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico (on the edge of Campo) to Canada. What I learned from the hundreds of people I watched is that the trail holds a dark secret.

Thu, 09 Mar 2017 14:33:11 -0600

Yes, you read that right. And now the question comes, HOW?

Psywar - Human Deception for Exploitation of Others

Wed, 08 Mar 2017 13:24:31 -0600

Psychological warfare, psyops, political propaganda, and so forth, are premeditated purposes, usually not positive in nature, to influence the thinking processes of others. Intentional misuse of various media, communication means and an array of "infotainment" are calculated to manipulate belief systems. Particularly, the effort contrives to foster emotionalism over logical deductive aspects of mindful analysis. Frequently, the efforts are directed at eventual exploitation of decision-making and actions based on emotional reactivity to superficial contentions. Power, control and dominance in one form or another are skillfully disguised.

We Must Have Black Unity Now More Than Ever

Wed, 08 Mar 2017 08:39:31 -0600

"No matter what we call ourselves, being black in a white supremacy world is the common denominator of our pains. The consequences of not coming together will be continued humiliation and worsening of our lives inside this nation."

The Four Prideful Reasons For Being a Ghanaian

Thu, 02 Mar 2017 06:59:16 -0600

Ghana, an iconic figure and a star to behold on the African continent, is a great nation with wonderful citizens. The country is blessed with rich and abundant natural resources such as timber, gold, silver, diamond and others. However, the beaconing feature that makes being a Ghanaian prideful is with the high spirit of patriotism, communal living, display of love and unity as well as the rich cultural traditions.

Dear Christo, You Wrapped My Heart

Tue, 21 Feb 2017 09:05:58 -0600

As time goes by, we start to realize who influenced us. The artist Christo and his wife certainly touched my life and introduced me to art I could understand and absorb. Their story draws me in continuously through the years.

The Merits of Placing Your Responsibilities Onto Someone Else

Tue, 21 Feb 2017 08:57:52 -0600

I cannot think of anyone who enjoys paying their utility bills. As far as I can surmise everyone would prefer to get their water and electricity for free. There may be some exceptions to this general rule but these people are far in between the norm and hard to find.

Don't Criticize NASA's Wasteful Climate Change Budget Or You Are Anti-Science?

Tue, 21 Feb 2017 06:54:34 -0600

Our thinking group has come to the conclusion that NASA's climate science budget of over $2 Billion per year is far too rich for the taxpayer, especially considering that NASA's main mission is one of aeronautics and space. While it is true that NASA has engaged in Earth Sciences to better estimate our potential future visitations to other planets during human space exploration, how we went from that to climate science is quite a stretch. Of course, if one mentions any of these, they are called anti-science and accused of having a right-wing political agenda, something I find rather troubling indeed.

Health Care: Your Money or Your Life

Thu, 16 Feb 2017 09:37:42 -0600

A few years ago, a good friend of mine was seriously injured in an automobile accident and spent several months in the ICU and recovery. He underwent emergency surgery, during which his physician brought in an out-of-network doctor to assist, without his knowledge or consent. Thanks to that, his insurance refused to cover the $85,000 bill from the out-of-network surgeon.

Under-Communicating the Anti-Corruption Vision

Wed, 15 Feb 2017 10:00:54 -0600

I was inspired to write this article because of three things that happened to me in the last few weeks. Firstly, I wasn't very impressed with the under-communication from the Estate Residents Association EXCO on the issue of a new transformer in my estate, especially since we have been in the dark for the last three weeks. In a separate event, a client told a class of 40 co-participants at one of my workshops that the article I wrote sometime last year on 'Why our Transformational Change Efforts may fail", must have reached the attention of President Buhari and his...

Be Grateful in ALL Things

Sewer Sludge Who Burn Our Flag

Fri, 10 Feb 2017 14:43:08 -0600

Anyone who has read anything about the ordeal that our prisoners of war had to endure - especially those held by the Japanese during World War II - would appreciate what the flag really means. Viet Nam and Korean War POWs had it very bad and I do not mean to disparage their hardship; but I have not read where they were subjected to such conditions of slavery and utter inhumane treatment as the POWs from the USS Houston and the other POWs in Japanese prison camps. I have just finished reading...

Warrior's Credo Part 2 Duty, Discipline and Devotion

Wed, 01 Feb 2017 13:08:15 -0600

Bondage, captivity, enslavement, to this realm of reality portends the inward form of slavery, one after another, in many forms. Indebtedness, involuntary servitude and submissiveness, of willful natures, succumb to the subservience of more powerful entities. Some on a psychic level, others on a physical level, and still others on a spiritual transcendence, as energy streams are directed to lesser values. Choices are of freewill, with calculated forethought and eventual intention. Of service inclination, bearing the burden of such bondage, is of personal choosing. The blasphemy committed, of the individual quest, is the paradox of humanity, to be free yet submitted to another. At any given instant, the journey becomes compounded by self-interests that devolve to selfish immaturities. Human nature, the thinking processes incumbent by personality, resides in realms both good and evil. Duality of existence in struggling to overcome unevolved selfishness requires exceptional diligence.

The Vietnamese Lotus Theory

Sun, 29 Jan 2017 10:10:43 -0600

When I stepped into the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chin Minh City, South Vietnam for the first time in December 2016, I sensed a breeze of optimism and vibrancy in the air. Later I realized that what I have seen in the airport was just the same as what I saw in Ho Chin Minh City during my 5 days stay there, with both the places pulsating with life, vigor, and activities. For a country that has been on the offensive for thousands of years evading various assaults and colonial intent, the optimism that I witnessed in...

Why Is Our Government and Media Obsessed With Russian Hacking and Trump's Favorable Opinion of Putin

Mon, 16 Jan 2017 15:57:40 -0600

Most of the media seems obsessed with the idea that Hillary Clinton lost to Donald Trump because of Russian interference. The media is also convinced that being friendly with Russia is the wrong approach, and that Putin is manipulating Trump. In addition, although they have often lied to us, every one seems willing to believe our various security agencies. To see the truth one must cut through the fog of our government's propaganda.

Dutertenism: The New Revolutionary Ideology That Is Ready to Alter the World We Live in

Sun, 15 Jan 2017 11:11:51 -0600

My first musing on President Rodrigo Duterte of The Philippines was an eye-opener for my conscience on how some leaders continue to stay relevant and capture the hearts of many through their unselfish acts. I find it obligatory to pen my second on this emerging great leader. In my first article, I have coined the term 'Dutertenism' mainly profiling his unorthodox, but successful methods in dealing with the maladies rampaging The Philippines for the past 40 years, as a result impeding its progress, unable to keep up the pace with the other South-east Asian nations.

My Last Entry

Wed, 11 Jan 2017 10:57:42 -0600

Dear America, did you adopt me because you had no choice when I arrived to your doorstep? Or do you despise the fact that you had to take me in? Do you despise me and forsake me the same way your other natural child who is drunk every other day denies that he has a son? Or like the woman who could not care less if one of her many daughters has not arrived home since last Friday, but it's not a big deal for her since it's one less mouth to feed-no longer a problem. And if they're called natural then what is so natural and normal about them. Am I not normal then? Not natural? Then perhaps I mustn't be from this Earth, and I guess that's why you call me "alien."

It's simple really, they stopped listening to the middle class and for 8-years silenced their critics calling them stupid, ignorant, racist, and haters, in fact, it must be true it was reported on all the news outlets and in all the newspapers - bless those wonderful journalists?

Sat, 31 Dec 2016 13:01:03 -0600

Perhaps you are a supporter of the Second Amendment, and do have much a problem with our citizens owning guns - or perhaps you are tired of listening to the TV scaring you about gun violence, and just wish all handguns in the US would go away. It's hard to believe that I or anyone else can convince you of the other perspective, most everyone seems to side with one side or the other, and some perhaps have caveats to their middle of the road "gray area" view of it all.
