Pals Need One Another

Thu, 15 Feb 2018 07:18:12 -0600

Right at the end of his letter to the people of Colossae Paul gives us a glimpse of his support network. Paul conveys the greetings of his friends: Aristarchus, Mark, Jesus (also called Justus), Epaphras, Luke, Demas and naturally Tychicus and Onesimus who we got to know in the previous two devotions.

The Power in Prayer

Thu, 15 Feb 2018 07:14:26 -0600

Watching the news these days is numbing. Until you've been a victim of crime it is hard to comprehend. Our society does not want to acknowledge God yet in the face of tragedy asks for prayer.

Is Darkness a Balance to the Light?

Wed, 14 Feb 2018 15:00:28 -0600

There has been a controversy on the difference between light and darkness, with many arguing that there must have to be a balance, that one cannot exist without the other. But that can only be possible on earth, where everybody-and everything-meet in a jumbled mixture. Some quote the hermetic law of As above so below.

Clergy Robes Or Choir Robes Wearing Notes On Christmas Religious Activities

Tue, 13 Feb 2018 14:51:36 -0600

Christmas is that part of the year when happiness and colors are all around us. We love to spend this time of the year with God, our family, and our relatives. Thanking God for His blessings to us throughout the year is customary and churches are the place to do it.

How to Worship God According to Jesus

Tue, 13 Feb 2018 14:37:24 -0600

The choices we make today affect our future. Our words, our actions, how we use our money, the time we spend in prayer can be translated to eternal treasure when they are submitted to God. What the world offers isn't what we are looking for. It leaves us disappointed.

On the Road With Jesus

Sun, 11 Feb 2018 19:26:54 -0600

Jesus did a lot of walking during His ministry. On this particular occasion, Jesus and His entourage were heading to Jerusalem where He would shortly offer the greatest sacrifice the world would ever know. As they approached the city, Jesus would face a request that would cause conflict within the group. How would He handle it?

Some Anti-Theist Religious Bits & Pieces: Round Twenty

Sun, 11 Feb 2018 09:40:09 -0600

Philosophical concepts that surround life, the universe and everything, including those realms of theology, religions and the nature of deities continue to fascinate. Opinions proliferate. There's the theist pro side; there's the atheist anti-side. There aren't too many fence-sitters. I'm still in the anti-camp as the following twentieth helping of "Religious Bits and Pieces" illustrate.

Get Your Free Prescription For The Flu Here

Fri, 09 Feb 2018 15:06:47 -0600

We have been told to do a number of things such as wash your hands, avoid close contact with sick people, cover your mouth and nose when sneezing and coughing, stay at home when you are sick and by all means get the flu vaccine. These are all very good practical measures to prevent catching the flu. I personally do not like flu shots and even health officials are telling us that the flu vaccines aren't perfect, but there is one cure that is perfect and that's God's Word.

Don't Talk About Sin - There Is No Such Thing

Fri, 09 Feb 2018 14:46:22 -0600

Yes, it's time to make up our minds about this issue, because a lot depends on it. Either all the stuff we don't like such as war, murder, starvation, disease, rape, thieving, gang warfare and drug addiction, and young lives messed up by the social media is all just what is - it's not nice but it's normal. So, if it's all just so naturally normal, either evolution slowly sorts it out, or else, all this stuff, including my own heart is deeply affected by something called 'sin'. I believe there is not a third alternative. This subject provokes many questions but we ought, at least, to make a shot at answering the most central ones. Here goes.

The Reformation of 500 Years Ago and Do We Need Such Radical Reformation Today?

Wed, 07 Feb 2018 15:28:39 -0600

The significance of The Reformation has been highlighted over these past months and for many it has been a time of relooking at the basics. The Reformation across Europe saw Europe experience turbulence and challenge at all kinds of social and religion levels. It was a time for change and transformation and these occasions seldom go smoothly. 500 years ago Martin Luther nailed his 95 thesis, or propositions for discussion, to the door of Wittenberg Cathedral in Germany. Is the Reformation over? By no means! Might this strike a relevant chord in your heart and mind and fellowship and community? If yes, then this is the moment for us to do something powerful and relevant and loving about the situation.

You May Be the Only Bible

Wed, 07 Feb 2018 07:11:38 -0600

Whether you like it or not, people are watching you. I don't know why, but people are sitting with their magnifying glasses just looking for that place where you stepped outside the line of the playing field.

Pray for One Another

Wed, 07 Feb 2018 07:10:57 -0600

I believe in prayer. It was my mom spending so much time on her knees praying for her children that prevented us from losing the way big time.

Saying Thank You Protects Me

Wed, 07 Feb 2018 07:10:31 -0600

During prayer, it is firstly not about me. Even less is prayer a shopping list where I only tell God what I want.

Sin and Separation From God

Wed, 07 Feb 2018 07:10:04 -0600

Sin that goes unchecked among a people may similarly become an epidemic. The aim of God's Laws about cleanliness was to protect the people from disease, but more importantly, to teach them by vivid lessons how God wanted purity, holiness, and cleanliness among His people. Failure to obey these laws was considered sin.

Why I Favor Building the Wall - But Not the One Trump Wants

Wed, 07 Feb 2018 07:08:16 -0600

I'm in favor of the wall, but not the one President Trump wants to build at our southern border. The wall I support already exists, and has been up since the founding of the Republic. Trump and his Republican base seem determined to remove or lower this wall to a point that it no longer bars religion from government. The slide into theocracy won't come with a dramatic tearing down of the wall of separation; it will result from the kinds of incursions this administration and it's allies are promoting, little by little and bit by bit, often noticeably, often not so much so. The wall is crumbling, not falling and this part of our constitutional infrastructure needs a great deal more attention before a collapse is complete.

So Much Religion, So Little Morals

Tue, 06 Feb 2018 14:41:43 -0600

The earth today has become a being without a soul. While religion has been on the increase, immorality has also been increasing in geometric proportions. And man saunters on, thinking too much of his intellectual achievements and moving more and more to false theism.

Might It Be Nothing Other Than Sin That Blinds Our Eyes From Seeing This Crucial Answer?

Tue, 06 Feb 2018 14:39:08 -0600

Here we are dealing with a question which is so highly relevant in various categories in these present days. It is a political question which can cause all kinds of difficulties and it is a religious question which has been on our news reports for many years and which has been given a higher profile quite recently following statements and tweets emerging from The White House in Washington, D.C. Who is a true Jew? Is there an answer? And, if there is a reliable answer are we willing to accept that answer?

Molecules, Madness Or Meaning

Tue, 06 Feb 2018 14:33:15 -0600

One of the greatest challenges to serious thinkers who accept evolution is the basis of their own rationality. For if it comes entirely from molecules, how come I know things that seem to be way beyond the ability of molecules? Is my sense of personal consciousness and of being in an understandable universe just a marvel of evolution, or does it only lead to the final absurdity, where nothing has any meaning, except that thought, and I just make up my own story, or is there a path to real meaning and truth - if only!

A Look at The Rich Young Ruler

Sun, 04 Feb 2018 16:22:49 -0600

Today, people are confusing works and faith as a prerequisite to obtaining eternal life. Some believe that displaying attributes of compassion and doing to others as they would want done to them evidences spiritual character and, as a result, eternal life awaits them.

To Be A Christian, What Does This Really Mean?

Sun, 04 Feb 2018 08:16:07 -0600

These days, it seems that there are so many different "versions" of Christianity. There is always someone with a new interpretation, a denomination, or a new definition of what it means to believe in Christ.

How Can Prayer Help You?

Sun, 04 Feb 2018 08:16:03 -0600

Learn and discover the ways prayer may be able to help you. Prayer helps us to continue to grow in our faith. Even though we may feel at times that we are weak, God is greater than us.

You Cannot Threaten A Child of God

Sat, 03 Feb 2018 08:07:40 -0600

1 Chronicles 16:21-22 "He (God) allowed no man to do them wrong; yes, He reproved kings for their sakes, 22 Saying, Touch not My anointed, and do My prophets no harm." Dear people of God, a friend of mine told me today how his cousin once said the only reason he was paying school fees for his daughter was because she was his biological child.

Two Sides of Every Coin

Sat, 03 Feb 2018 07:59:50 -0600

When we look at a coin we will never understand its value until we examine both sides. So it is with all things.

Fanaticism Means Faith in Latin

Fri, 02 Feb 2018 08:47:40 -0600

The institution of Faith has always strived on collectivism. But the ripple occurs when different ethnic, cultural and geographical demographics cannot subscribe to such unity of command based on varying needs of diverse groups. Since these differences can be wide and varied- they lead to different versions of the same belief structures.

Why Is This Affliction Happening To Me?

Tue, 30 Jan 2018 14:35:36 -0600

Dear people of God, as a young immature Christian, I saw a trend amongst the Pentecostals, which was some congregations taught that once someone was in Christ, all his or her problems in this life were over. This statement is true depending on the explanation offered.

Fueled by Prayer

Tue, 30 Jan 2018 07:16:09 -0600

Corrie Ten Boom said prayer is the engine room of every congregation. If a congregation doesn't pray, it's going one way - downhill.

How To Chart Your Way To Greatness

Mon, 29 Jan 2018 14:11:58 -0600

Have ever had friends who complain about how things are hard and how difficult life is? Well, I have! And statements like that get me thinking because I wouldn't give answers without scriptural basis and in the course of my research I came across answers that every believer should consider.

God Has No Contingency Plans

Mon, 29 Jan 2018 07:19:26 -0600

Sometimes with human beings you hear of a contingency plan or plan B as some call it. What this means is that they have an alternative plan in place just in case the first one fails.

Dealing With Offenses

Mon, 29 Jan 2018 07:16:14 -0600

Every person has been offended sometime or other in their life. How we responded to those offenses is a good barometer of our spiritual maturity. How should we deal with offenses in our lives? The Bible makes it clear!

The Authority of Jesus

Sun, 28 Jan 2018 12:03:42 -0600

We've all played games as children, and some of us still play games today-games such as golf or curling. Every game has rules, and so does life. Our rulebook is the Bible, and it was written by God. We have to learn the rules before we can play any game, and we have to know the rules God gives us. The only way we can learn God's rules is to read and study the Bible both by ourselves and as part of a larger group.

Death, The Beyond, Paradise, Hell And Purgatory

Fri, 26 Jan 2018 07:17:40 -0600

If there is anything that there is consensus of belief and conviction on, it is that everything must one day die that is regarded as being alive, as long as they are in the material world. To this fact all-religious people, scientist, agnostics, atheist-all converge in agreement. But one thing that only a few are aware of is that the material world is neither alive nor dead, but just IS.

Thu, 25 Jan 2018 14:57:32 -0600

Why the confusion and chaos in Washington DC? What is the meaning of Deep State? What is the plot by the secret societies trying to pull off? How will the saboteurs be put down? When will the big deception occur? Will a one world order be enthroned in the coming days? Read Tom Horn's book "Saboteurs" for an investigative report detailing the sick and sinister plot happening right now in DC.

Your Reward Is Coming

Tue, 23 Jan 2018 15:04:49 -0600

It is said that a Christian's benefits are out of this world. And it's true!

Angels, Demons and Phantoms

Tue, 23 Jan 2018 15:01:37 -0600

The existence of Angels, Demons, entities and other beings cannot be over emphasized. In this article, these beings are placed in their proper perspectives. Their origin, differences and similarities are touched.

Proving Christ To Be Who He Says He Is - Part II

Tue, 23 Jan 2018 08:24:28 -0600

Many people have said that the Jesus whose story is told in the New Testament is not the historical Jesus. They say that historical research cannot possibly discover the real Jesus of faith because he is not rooted in history; therefore he does not symbolize anything. The Nicene Creed does not say, "We wish these things were true.' It does say that, 'Jesus Christ was crucified under Pontius Pilate, and the third day he rose from the dead.'

Proving Christ To Be Who He Says He Is - Part I

Tue, 23 Jan 2018 08:24:24 -0600

Much has been said about Jesus and who he claimed to be. This article is set to prove that he is in fact the Son of God.

Pakistan, Sikh Gurudwaras (Temples) and State Policy

Mon, 22 Jan 2018 07:13:08 -0600

Guru Nanak Dev the founder of Sikhism spent most of his life in Punjab, except for his four long travels which took him to all places of the known world at that time. He travelled to Mecca and Baghdad and later to Dacca and Ceylon, Nanak spent all his life in West Punjab which is now part of Pakistan. Many miracles are attributed to him while he lived in the Punjab and these places where he showed that he was a prophet.

A Different View of Peter

Mon, 22 Jan 2018 07:13:06 -0600

Today, the scale of human interaction leans to displays of opinions on almost every subject. Everyone has an opinion about something, no matter if they understand what they are responding to or not. It even applies to our spiritual walk.

Are You Crushing Them?

Sun, 21 Jan 2018 09:17:20 -0600

When we were investigating a platform for children, we sent out a survey to a group of them. More than 200 kids completed the questionnaire.

Did You Think You Knew The Gospel Of Christ?

Fri, 19 Jan 2018 14:55:35 -0600

There are three groups pf people in relation to the gospel of Christ - those who know, that is really know - those who think they know, but don't, and those who don't know, either because they have never heard, or have never heard enough to give them a clear grasp. Everyone is in this three-fold group. As you can see the second two groups are really one, but for clarity I have separated it into two. So, the aim of this short article is to stir your thought and invite you to reflect and consider in which group you are.

In Thine Own Bosom Lies Thine Destiny

Fri, 19 Jan 2018 07:26:05 -0600

This statement is a universally accepted dictum, indicating that we are the captains of our souls, if the poet William Henry's "Invictus" is to be paraphrased. And this is a fact that mankind have not been able to come to terms with. We have not been able to grasp the simplicity and enormity of the simply natural law of reciprocity, the principle of sowing and reaping.

Roles in the Home

Fri, 19 Jan 2018 07:23:12 -0600

Ever heard the joke about the long queue at the pearly gates at the sign saying, "Husbands of wives who wore the pants at home"? At the sign saying, "Husbands whose wives did not wear the pants", there was only one man.

Earth Changes and The New World Order

Thu, 18 Jan 2018 15:13:11 -0600

In recent times, there has been talks of a grand plan by a clandestine group of people to impose a new world order on mankind, a world they will be totally in control of, and a world where letting oneself go is the foundation for survival and existence. So many thing are attributed to this faceless group, and some conspiracy theorists go as far as putting faces on the group. This group, referred to in some quarters as the Shadow Government, are even crawling out of the closet to claim control of the world Banking sector, Politics, Entertainment, Science and...

The Divinity of Man

Wed, 17 Jan 2018 14:56:47 -0600

The idea that human beings are endowed with inner cores of Divinity has been wide spread. This was spread by mystics and occultist, whose teachings from their "Ascended Masters" indicate that there is Divinity in man. Even religious leaders have keyed into the narrative and now it has become like a mantra for those who think they are seekers for the truth.

I Will Create It for You (3)

Tue, 16 Jan 2018 15:23:44 -0600

Another thing the LORD will do for you this year is that He will make water (blessings) to come out of your dry situations. That is, springs of miracles will begin to erupt from your hitherto hopeless situations. You know that it is not common to find lots of water in the desert. Maybe, after a very long drive you may be lucky to find an oasis or a handful of shrubs and things like that. But here, God is saying that it is not just going to be drops but a flow of 'rivers', springs of blessings, a deluge of miracles, signs and wonders! Now, you already know that a desert means dry, sandy, unproductive, hopeless and abandoned place. Do some parts of your life / vision resemble these? Sure, you need this creative divine intervention.

Together, Step-By-Step

Tue, 16 Jan 2018 15:23:11 -0600

I was watching a television interview by Dr Ali Bacher with Frik du Preez, the former Springbok rugby player. Frik was telling him how different it was in those days: the players weren't paid and they had to buy their own togs.

Four Different Schools of Christianity

Tue, 16 Jan 2018 13:23:39 -0600

In the world today we have over 900 Christian different denominational churches that are passed to humans from four sources of knowledge bases! In order to reach the ultimate and God authorized source one has to search diligently and persistently until he finds it.

A Beautiful and Meaningful Diwali Without Crackers

Mon, 15 Jan 2018 08:04:59 -0600

Celebrating Diwali with not so privileged class of society by making this festival special and memorable for them. So, I along with my family decided to visit a nearby school run by a Non Governmental Organization and then went to an orphanage. We got a few gifts for the children on our way to the School and the Orphanage. These were cookies, sweets and chocolates. We interacted with the little ones, distributed these things personally to each one of them. We really enjoyed talking to the kids and knowing their future goals. It was also a satisfying and a self awakening experience.

Do You Really Know Him?

Mon, 15 Jan 2018 07:11:40 -0600

Instead of "deep word diving" in search of the benefits of Kingdom citizenship, lit us pursue a relationship with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Many seek healing, financial deliverance, and materialistic prosperity in lieu of fellowship with their Creator.

Jesus in Your Shadow

Sat, 13 Jan 2018 08:46:25 -0600

17Let every detail in your lives-words, actions, whatever-be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way. What a huge command.

Why Is Finding God So Complicated?

Fri, 12 Jan 2018 14:53:42 -0600

That question takes for granted that it is difficult, and I think I may know why. For many serious seekers for God, the thought is, 'Look I'm serious, and if there really is a God, it might be good to know more about him, or even to find him, but there are just too many rivals, just too much crazy confusion, and I haven't the foggiest idea how to choose one over another. I mean, how would God expect me to know how to pick exactly the right one? And then, what's that bit about "finding" - is it like a momentous discovery.' Yes, I do accept this is a challenge. There are so many religions and ways of life, how will we check them out?

Did Draupadi Have a Secret Love for Karna?

Wed, 10 Jan 2018 07:06:55 -0600

I love to write on contentious topics. here is an idea that germinated in my mind after reading the translation of the Mahabharata by C Rajagopal Chary. This is a very graphic account of the Mahabharata, which is essentially an account of a battle between two clans who were cousins, namely the Pandavas and Kauravas.

The Jerusalem Phase of the Early Church

Mon, 08 Jan 2018 14:09:49 -0600

The Jerusalem Phase of the Early Church, as described in Acts 1 to 5, starts with Christ's resurrection. Just before His ascension He told His disciples to stay in Jerusalem and wait for the power of the Holy Spirit. They received that power on the day of Pentecost, which was ten days later. Over the following 2 to 4 years the church grew exponentially, from the initial 120 followers to thousands, but the church was limited to Jerusalem only and consisted of Jews only.

A Different Look at Parables

Sun, 07 Jan 2018 17:44:24 -0600

What is the purpose of Parables? Is it to illuminate the Truth, or hide the Truth? How does Jesus' fulfillment of Isaiah 6 fit into His teaching? Are Parables for us today?

Mercy Rain

Sun, 07 Jan 2018 17:43:18 -0600

2018, here we go! I pray that you will have a prosperous new year.

Reaching Your Goals In 2018

Thu, 04 Jan 2018 08:02:43 -0600

Every January, so many of us set lofty goals for the year ahead on everything from healthier living to wiser spending; from character changes to personal makeovers; but by the time we get to February or March we slip back into old habits and our new year goals are all, but forgotten. Does this sound familiar? Well, here are a few steps from a scripture from my favorite book: the Bible. The scripture is 1 Peter 1:13 and if applied as follows, it will help you set your 2018 goals and stick to them...

Even More Religious Shorts

Sun, 31 Dec 2017 15:09:14 -0600

Of all of those Big Questions central to philosophical concepts that surround life, the universe and everything, the realms of theology and religions and the nature of deities continue to fascinate. There's the pro side; there's the anti-side. There aren't too many fence-sitters. I'm in the anti-camp as the following third helping of mini religious short pieces illustrate.

We Are God's Adopted Children

Fri, 29 Dec 2017 15:02:32 -0600

UNICEF-the United Nations Children's Fund-estimates that 353,000 babies are born every day-just over four babies each second. Birth begins a life of 70-100 years and impacts those whose lives overlap with the child's. Every generation relates most profoundly with those who share their time in history. Jesus is the exception to that statement.

The High Calling

Thu, 28 Dec 2017 14:44:55 -0600

The choosing of the twelve Apostles was not done through random selection or a lottery system, but by Divine initiative. When Jesus sent out the Apostles for the first time, there were serious challenges and directions given. It was a high calling that carried tremendous responsibility.

The Moses Principle of Leadership: Teach, Tell and Train

Thu, 28 Dec 2017 08:07:19 -0600

The unwillingness by leaders (Pastors, Managers, Administrators etc.) to delegate tasks to team members, in either business or any other type of organization, is very evident in today's society. However, there are possibilities of serious consequences if we allow our concept of our calling or sacred duty to turn into some form of micro-management. Take an example from the church, where 80% of the work is done by 20% of its members. This writer is truly on to something.

2018: I Will Create It for You

Wed, 27 Dec 2017 20:18:19 -0600

I love how He described this in Isaiah 43:18-19, "But forget all that - it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do a brand-new thing. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness for my people to come home. I will create rivers for them in the desert!" My God! Listen to these great phrases again, "a brand-new thing", "a pathway through the wilderness", "rivers in the desert." Jesus Christ! Yes, these are the things you should expect this year. It is going to be a very glorious one!

Interpretation and the Spirit of the Law

Wed, 27 Dec 2017 20:17:39 -0600

The greatest knowledge of all is a basic, fundamental understanding of the spirit of God's word. Of why it is that we should love our neighbour, why it is that we should love God, why it is that we should be honest and decent in our dealings with others, why it is that Jesus told us that when we give to our fellow human beings we give to him. One can understand all the linguistic subtleties in the world, all the cultural nuances and literary idiosyncrasies. One can recite and chant all the laws, all the out-of-context quotations, with appropriate Biblical references, idiot-style, until one's heart is content, but until one understands why, there is no comprehension whatsoever of what Jesus is trying to say to us.

The Power of A Christian

Wed, 27 Dec 2017 14:45:25 -0600

As Christians, we are given commands by God to do things that seem impossible. It is not in the impossible that we are commanded to move but to move in the power made available to us. The blockage of power does not make the work undoable, it is the adherence to our wrong understanding of God's Word.

Just a Cursing

Tue, 26 Dec 2017 10:48:34 -0600

There's this thing, a bit like the old sci/fi Blob, a blight on my perfect potato, that I am forever bumping into in faith. It's like a bad rash or something, the gift that just goes on giving, spreading all over like an affliction. The curse of Eve.

Do You Know There Are Different Types Of Prayer?

The Pain of Christmas

Mon, 25 Dec 2017 14:02:58 -0600

Looking through my Facebook friends and their attitude towards Christmas stirs up a rage within me that is hard to contain or to explain. It is not me but the Spirit within that is so enraged by the falseness of it and Divine revenge follows for those who celebrate the ritual. Already this last couple of days has seen one disaster after another and death coming to thousands.

Small Churches and How Discovering Your DLP Will Overcome Struggles

Fri, 22 Dec 2017 13:46:41 -0600

'Tis the Season Full of Folly

Thu, 21 Dec 2017 14:48:57 -0600

BESIDES the commercialisation of the Christmas season, I have found it to be a bizarrely stressful season for so many. Certainly, the pressure on people to buy unusually special gifts for their friends and loved ones can be enormous. But there is also a great deal of stress on relationships, notwithstanding the stress that comes with the consumption of food and drink that comes with the season.

No Contradiction

Wed, 20 Dec 2017 15:19:51 -0600

There was no need to divide the Body of Christ over the "grace" doctrines, such as election and predestination. Here is my feeble attempt to show how things can be synthesized without doing damage to Truth.

The Misunderstood Bible

Sun, 17 Dec 2017 20:59:40 -0600

The Bible is probably the most misunderstood, misinterpreted, and misrepresented collection of books and letter every written. The problem is not with the Author, but with the reader.

Hope - The Great Christmas Gift From God

Thu, 14 Dec 2017 15:14:01 -0600

We are well into the season of Advent. It is a season of hope. It is a hope that we remember as we prepare to celebrate both Christ's birth in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago and His eventual return. This hope included bringing good news to the oppressed. This hope was expressed in the passage we heard from Isaiah. It is the same passage that Jesus based His message in the temple on in Luke 4:16-21.

Tue, 12 Dec 2017 14:14:43 -0600

There are many books in this world which have their own unique significance in our lives due to their certain extract or story line, or may be the lessons given in that book snatches our attention and change our mind so that we can start thinking about things from a new perspective. But all these books have been made by human beings, so there are many chances that we can edit those books to some extent. The only book in this world whose each single word has remained unchanged and will remain the same in future, is the holy book Quran which has been sent to us by Allah Subhana Watallah and it was revealed on our beloved Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him).

How to Offer Tahajjud Prayer

Tue, 12 Dec 2017 14:13:49 -0600

Muslims have been given the duty to perform the prayers five times a day. These prayers are considered an obligation for the Muslims and they have to perform it at any cost, as there is no compensation for leaving those prayers. They are among the five pillars of Islam and holds a great significance in the life of Muslims. Apart from these five prayers, there are other prayers too, which also have a great reward from Allah Almighty. These prayers are not obligatory and the Muslims have been given a choice to perform them or not. But they are quite important and their importance can be seen through various hadith.

A Different Look at the Sermon on the Mount

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 21:21:10 -0600

The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) and the Sermon on the Plain (Luke 6) are often looked at as one event recorded in two Gospels. Are they in effect one sermon or does each carry a distinct message?

How to Help a Friend

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 21:18:06 -0600

When Paul encourages us to help our friends who have lost their way, he makes a good suggestion: 16... And sing, sing your hearts out to God! And, if like us, he had the Old and the New Testament bound as one book, he would probably have written as follows: Use the Word of God, the Bible, to correct your friends. Sing praise...

More Religious Shorts

Fri, 08 Dec 2017 07:22:21 -0600

Of all of those Big Questions central to philosophical concepts that surround life, the universe and everything, the realms of theology and religions and the nature of deities continue to fascinate. There's the pro side; there's the anti-side. There aren't too many fence-sitters. I'm in the anti-camp as the following second helping of mini religious short pieces illustrate.

Call to the Starting Line

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 20:30:26 -0600

The Apostle Paul often referred to the Christian life as a race. I wonder how many Christians fail to realize that our lives are an all out effort to achieve what God has called us to do.

A Secular Invocation

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 09:55:54 -0600

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the case of the Town of Greece v. Galloway that legislative prayer, including invocations, do not violate the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. Since this decision, humanists of all stripes have been able to deliver secular invocations during legislative meetings.

Obscurantism at Its Best As Muslim Pir Impregnates Over 300 Women

Sat, 02 Dec 2017 11:18:12 -0600

Islam came to the sub-continent nearly 1300 years back when the first invasions from Arabia took place. Initially, the Muslims came to plunder but later many settled in India. From about the 9th century onwards, the Muslims increasingly became the rulers, first of North India and later of the entire India.

Waiting for Jesus

Thu, 30 Nov 2017 15:03:04 -0600

At first glance, the passage from Mark is full of doom and gloom. The disciples asked for signs of the end times, and Jesus told them that the end times would be full of danger. Is this really the way for us to start the season of Advent? Isn't Advent supposed to be a time of hope and preparation? The answer to both questions is yes. Advent isn't about preparing for Christmas. It's about preparing for the coming of Christ. Advent always begins with preparing and waiting for Christ to come again. Just as the first coming was an event of cosmic proportion, so will the second coming be.

Separating the State From the Church

Thu, 30 Nov 2017 08:27:28 -0600

If we fail to learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it. Though it is quite clear knowledge has increased and continues to do so exponentially, yet wars, hunger, and preventable diseases also continue exponentially. This begs the question, what kind of knowledge are we acquiring?

I Speak Peace

Living Among the Dead (3)

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 18:57:12 -0600

But whatever the enemy has taken away from your life will be restored as you read this message. Jesus said that the enemy, Satan came to steal, to kill and to destroy, but He, the Son of God came to restore and to give us life in abundance. That means that whatever the enemy stole from you will be multiplied and restored in abundance. Your sanity is coming back. Your health, life, family and everything that this thief called Satan took from you is being restored. The controlling power is changing hands. These dark powers will no more control you in Jesus' name! Till next week, God bless!

The Lost Art

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 18:55:44 -0600

In our changing society we have lost yet another aspect of civility: the art of listening. Many conversations have become one sided. When our listening mode is shut off, we are, in reality, devaluating the importance of the individual with whom we are engaging.

Did The Egyptian God Osiris Exist? A Debate

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 09:23:51 -0600

There is one atheist argument that no Christian theist can really refute, and every time I've used it, no Christian theist has successfully tried to refute this. It goes like this: "Had you been born and raised in a different or past society / culture [like that of ancient Egypt] you'd be singing the praises of a quite different deity (or deities) with equal faith, belief or conviction [like Osiris] and you know this to be so. So what does that say about the existence of your Christian God?"

On Reign of Christ Sunday, we reflect on the mighty acts of God proclaimed every Sunday of the past year. We celebrate that, because Christ has humbled himself to the point of death on the cross, God has exalted Him and made Him King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Living Among the Dead (2)

Wed, 22 Nov 2017 15:49:57 -0600

Where are you now? Are you dwelling at the other side of life? The dark and painful side? One of the things you will notice is that this deranged man at the cemetery was at the other side of the lake; a lone, suffering, languishing and helpless. That was what Jesus saw and told his disciples, "Let's go over to the other side of the lake." Yes. Are you still there? A lake as you know spiritually is a symbol stagnancy, contamination and lack of freshness, lack of flow. Then, come to imagine somebody living beyond it. Beyond, worse, farther than the lake. This guy's problem was a double tragedy. So many people today are simply living at the other side of life. They are in terrible, unspeakable situations. They are fed up with life. They don't understand how it feels to be in good health. They have never enjoyed it even for one full month. Some cannot live, sleep, function without drugs, alcohol, sex, clubbing or casino. And these habits have also further pushed them into many other terrible things.

Gone Fishing - Lesson For Disciple Makers

Wed, 22 Nov 2017 15:41:15 -0600

Becoming a fisher of men is not as simple as people might think. Even the disciples chose to go back to their old lives after Jesus was crucified.

Let Us Not Forget

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 21:19:49 -0600

We sing and talk about Jesus and our unfailing love for Him, but it seems it is more a "tell" than a show. We seem to take His forgiveness for granted.

There Is No Point - I Am Close To Giving Up

Sat, 18 Nov 2017 18:21:46 -0600

If that is you, do have a little think about what I would like to share with you, before you make up your mind any further. I have a simple question to put to you so that we can try to tease out an answer to it: how did you discover that there is no point, perhaps because your life hasn't worked out as you wanted and you are facing huge difficulties, or perhaps you are even tempted to give up being a Christian?

Did God Ever Keep Secrets in the Bible?

Wed, 15 Nov 2017 08:28:41 -0600

Are you a Christian? Do you believe the Trinity is a mystery? If you do then there must be secrets in the Bible.

Blame Shifter

Tue, 14 Nov 2017 14:54:39 -0600

We have all done it, and are quick to notice when others pass the buck, and say, it wasn't their fault at all. And if you hadn't done what you did first, well I wouldn't have done what I did, would I? And so it goes on, round in circles. Is there any way to see through this smokescreen, and does it matter any way, if we find it socially convenient to reduce our own blame by passing it on to someone else?

God Doesn't Make Rubbish
