Is Churchgoing a Necessary Part of Christian Faith or Are There Alternatives?

Sat, 25 Mar 2017 09:30:24 -0500

For many people, Christianity and Church are synonymous. However, an increasing number of people do not agree. In this article I try to examine the issues involved and suggest alternatives for people who find churchgoing a problem rather than a solution.

The Way to Be Happy Is to Be a Norwegian - Or to Live Like One, to the Extent Possible

Fri, 24 Mar 2017 11:59:00 -0500

A U.N. report provides further evidence that social supports build trust and healthy lives, leading to high levels of happiness. Norway and other Scandinavian nations hold the top rankings, whereas the U.S., far richer and more technologically advanced, is only 14th in the happiness ratings. The U.S. needs to do much better in moderating rising inequality, corruption, isolation, and distrust.

Jesus and Adam

Thu, 23 Mar 2017 14:46:44 -0500

Connecting these ideas and the idea that the Qur'an composed of verses that are perfected and then expounded for us, consider the verse which says: "The likeness of Jesus before Allah is as the likeness of Adam." (3:59) It is very clear that what we have in the statement is an equation. This verse goes on to explain how that is true because they both came under unusual circumstances rather than having a mother and a father in the usual human reproductive way.

John 1:1 Versus the Watchtower Society

Thu, 23 Mar 2017 07:48:12 -0500

What have the Jehovah's Witnesses done to John 1:1? Amazing answer. Here is a short refutation of their changing of the text.

Easter and the Big March

Wed, 22 Mar 2017 13:03:32 -0500

Originally Easter coincided with the equinox and was celebrated on the 22nd - 25th March. The month was named according to the mass migration of people to the hilltops to witness the arrival of the sun-god, which is described in the name. 'Ma' is 'mother' while [r] or 'ra' stands for power and [x] for cross.

Let It Go

Wed, 22 Mar 2017 11:29:51 -0500

Do things from your past pop up every now and then to stop you in your tracks? Sometimes without warning - sometimes when you end up in a similar situation or when you return to the place where you've made the mistake.

Leave Space to Differ

Wed, 22 Mar 2017 11:29:24 -0500

Each of us sees the world through a different lens. This lens is shaped by our parents, our training, our friends and even strangers who unexpectedly appear in our lives.

What Does Your Christian T-Shirt Say About You?

Wed, 22 Mar 2017 10:28:22 -0500

I find it interesting in my own personal experience that when I wear any Christian t-shirt, it makes me more aware of my behavior and attitude. I find myself more conscious of my actions because I want to set a good example for what I represent. Does that make me a perfect person? Absolutely not, but it does help me one step at a time to improve.

The Case Against Jesus Christ and Proof That Easter Celebrations Are Evil

Wed, 22 Mar 2017 06:49:55 -0500

As Easter approaches and the Christian world looks to celebrating a mythical event, namely that of the crucifixion and resurrection of its Prophet, there is a strong case that Jesus Christ never existed and that he is the invention of the Second Beast of Revelation. Following my reincarnation and with a strong link to the Spirit of the Universe, the Great Creator, it is given to me to prove the case and to open the door to the facts. The notion that this so-called Saviour rose bodily into heaven having resurrected three days after his...

God Promised to Destroy Religious Institutions and It's Happening Now

Wed, 22 Mar 2017 06:47:26 -0500

The fall-out of the paedophile scandal rocking religious institutions and the growth of Islamic terrorism is pushing them to the brink of destruction. While the bible is a greatly polluted and mostly unreliable document there are parts of it that were given by God. Some of the prophecies in the Old Testament and parts of Revelation are definitely indicators of God's wrath and the consequences.

Islam the True Religion

Tue, 21 Mar 2017 10:31:31 -0500

Many religions also claim belief in One God however, they associate partners with Him. The following are examples: •Worshipping or asking forgiveness of God through His creation •Delegating some of God's attributes to other objects or beings •Setting up rivals with God by elevating something to be in opposition to Him The above mentioned beliefs or actions all go against the very principles of Islam. Muslims believe that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the final Prophet in a...

The Ultimate Mormon Theological Contradiction's Reliance on the Ultimate Mormon Destiny

Mon, 20 Mar 2017 07:32:44 -0500

The story of Mormonism and the explanation of Mormon theology as given by full-time Mormon missionaries, young men, young women, and senior married couples, are total fabrications of the truth about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If Christians invite these Mormon agents into their homes, they should be prepared for six presentations filled with lies and distortions about the Mormon Church, its theology, doctrine, and history. The Mormon Church is a 700 billion dollar organization with a mandate and agenda of deceiving as many Christians as possible into joining its pagan ranks. The following article deals with the real story of Mormonism and the birth of 19th Century Mormon polytheistic theology and doctrine.

Will The United States Be Left Behind?

Sun, 19 Mar 2017 14:23:55 -0500

When something is good, it should be shared. Those who share get joy that often eclipses the satisfaction that they receive from having the good thing all to themselves. A smile put on someone else's face is priceless simply because you were the one that put that smile there. Yet, sometimes, the good thing is better when you give concern instead of something that creates a smile. Perhaps you care more for others when you raise a concern that might lead someone else to a greater good.

Some Anti-Theist Religious Bits & Pieces: Round Thirteen

Sun, 19 Mar 2017 14:16:23 -0500

Philosophical concepts that surround life, the universe and everything, including those realms of theology, religions and the nature of deities continue to fascinate. Opinions proliferate. There's the theist pro side; there's the atheist anti-side. There aren't too many fence-sitters. I'm still in the anti-camp as the following thirteenth helping of "Religious Bits and Pieces" illustrate.

What Is the Holy Spirit's Ministry?

Sun, 19 Mar 2017 14:14:41 -0500

To understand the Holy Spirits role in the Believer one needs to study the Upper Room discourse between Jesus and His disciples. (John 14 through 17) Here Jesus shared some of His greatest Truths.

In My Father's House Are Many Mansions

Fri, 17 Mar 2017 08:58:15 -0500

Many people think and have been taught that when Jesus is talking in John 14:2-3 that they are going to get a great home of brick and mortar, or a mansion. I believe that in light of the words being used in 2 Corinthians 5:1 (For we know that if the tent which is our earthly home is destroyed (dissolved), we have from God a building, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.) Jesus could be talking about preparing our new resurrected bodies for us to dwell or abide in at the Resurrection or maybe He is talking about an even deeper truth. The thing to remember is that the real you is a spirit and our body on earth is our earth suit or dwelling. Is it not reasonable to consider that we will not need to live in brick and mortar buildings, but we will need to have a new dwelling for our spirits in the everlasting?

On The Other Side of Death

Fri, 17 Mar 2017 07:57:26 -0500

What awaits the Believer on the other side of death? Is Paradise and Heaven the same place? As our body descends into the earth, does our spirit ascent into the Heavenlies? Is the separation of the spirit from the body an instant experience or does the triune man man sleep until he is awakened at the Lord's coming?

What Do You Do When the Truth of the Gospel Is at Stake? You Have to Speak Out - He Did!

Thu, 16 Mar 2017 07:42:28 -0500

What an amazing letter this is, as it deals with some of the real problems which are presently facing the Church of Jesus Christ. Paul is writing to believers - to disciples of Jesus. He is writing to men and women who have tasted something of the Mercy and Love and Forgiveness of Jesus Christ, and of the Power of the Holy Spirit. But, they were deserting God, and they were falling back into what we call legalism. They had been bewitched. They were turning away from the Cross of Jesus Christ, and having begun in the Spirit, and having begun in the power of the Holy Spirit, they were now relying upon works of the flesh, and what they could do. This is a problem we face in Scotland, but I am sure, elsewhere too.

Vital Crucial Questions Face the Church of Jesus Christ - The Galatian Letter Is of Immense Help!

Thu, 16 Mar 2017 07:41:45 -0500

The Church of Jesus Christ was facing serious issues. There could have been division at a very early stage on matters that were critical and crucial and theological. The very truth of the Gospel was being challenged. That is happening today, and this is one reason why I have turned to the letter to the Galatians in the New Testament. The answers to what happened then are highly relevant to the situation facing the Church of Jesus Christ today! In these opening verses Paul is already focusing people's attention on Jesus Christ and the Cross - how to be rescued and saved - and he is giving all the glory to God.

12 I'm not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me.

To Be Honestly Imperfect

Tue, 14 Mar 2017 07:55:53 -0500

One thing that really rubs me up the wrong way is when people are so in love with their own way of believing that I start feeling inferior about my way of believing. Many people appear as if they possess all spiritual knowledge.

A Paradigm Shift

Mon, 13 Mar 2017 13:42:37 -0500

Believing Differently Is Also Fine

Mon, 13 Mar 2017 13:38:48 -0500

Mon, 13 Mar 2017 08:51:14 -0500

Battle is part of life, from time to time people go through challenges such as barrenness, sickness, affliction, stagnancy, poverty e.t.c. Stagnation is characterized by lack of development, advancement or progressive movement. In the journey of growth, there are times when we grow and excel, we are endlessly driven and hyped up, motivated to get our goals, then there are times when we stagnate, we feel uninspired and unmotivated, we keep procrastinating on our plans.

The Old Story?

Partakers of The Divine Nature

Mon, 13 Mar 2017 07:20:04 -0500

And as if this much was not enough, He is sharing with me, in the present tense, meaning right now, He is sharing with me, partaking with me, of His divinity. This is mind boggling, I mean, this is amazing. I certainly cannot wrap my pea size brain around the magnitude of this statement. Let alone absorb it.

Fake News Vs Good News

Sun, 12 Mar 2017 21:13:11 -0500

When it comes to the political arena, we hear a lot lately about, "fake news." If something is indeed, "fake," those hearing the "fake news" are led to believe something is true when it is not. There is another arena where one needs to beware of "fake news."

Mass Grave at Former Catholic Orphanage and Why Pope Benedict Resigned

Fri, 10 Mar 2017 08:25:01 -0600

Christ said the broad way leads to destruction, but a billion Christians have a very shallow understanding of the Bible. It is the best-seller but the least understood. It is possible to understand more than what we were told from childhood, and the times are beginning to demand it.

Black Muslims And Black Christians Have To Be The Examples Of Spiritual Maturity To The World

Wed, 08 Mar 2017 08:38:56 -0600

Sink Holes

Sun, 05 Mar 2017 21:48:48 -0600

The Church is not immune to a foundational crisis. If not built on the foundation of Jesus Christ it will be prone to sink holes. Jesus is the foundation and Cornerstone of our Faith, and when we fail to shore up our beliefs, we will become nothing more then a brick and mortar institute of socially promoted behavior.

Become a Friend of Jesus

Fri, 03 Mar 2017 14:32:23 -0600

A friend may be defined simply as a well-wisher; since goodness to somebody or something could be used to establish the distinction between a friend and an enemy. Occasionally most of the traits of the natural man, exhibiting the entirety of the thoughts within, are evil; thus confirming God's word in Psalm 94:11. For this reason all the natural man can offer is, at best described as, fair-weather friendship. But there is a friend that surpasses all friends. He is the real friend. He is the friend indeed. His name is Jesus Christ.

What Is the Holy Ghost?

The Original Buyer's Remorse

Fri, 03 Mar 2017 07:08:15 -0600

Have you ever experienced buyer's remorse? Just before we buy something major like a car or a house we feel the surge of excitement that comes with getting something new. It's the same feeling a child has when he or she gets a new toy for their birthday or for Christmas. After we buy the item, sometimes we are hit by a wave of remorse. We ask ourselves if we really needed the item or if we should have spent the money.

SALVATION GOSPEL: Repentance, the Prerequisite for Becoming a Child of God

Thu, 02 Mar 2017 13:59:56 -0600

Man was created perfect by God and put in a perfect location. He had abundance of all good things. However, man lost out when he left his right position and traded it for another. He gave up righteousness and took on wickedness. Since the unholy transaction that took place between man and Satan in the Garden of Eden, the natural man's heart has remained wicked. But our Lord Jesus Christ has provided a way of escape from the slavery of sin; thus giving man a choice between continuing in sin or getting out of sin and come into righteousness.

Wed, 01 Mar 2017 08:17:21 -0600

Was Jesus crucified on a pole? Or a cross? Does it make a difference? The integrity of Scripture may be at stake. You decide.

Church Immigration

Sun, 26 Feb 2017 18:57:38 -0600

People hate to hear the negative, but for the Church to ignore the assault against the very core of its beliefs is to guarantee an ineffectiveness in carrying out God's calling. The Church must not be naive to the challenges that face its existence. We must shore up our boarders or expect a greater erosion of Truth.

Feel With, Strive With, Do With

Sun, 26 Feb 2017 18:54:57 -0600

Verse 2 haunts me: 2Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. What is expected of you and me is more than simply to agree with this verse.

Hold Back Self-Centredness

Sun, 26 Feb 2017 18:54:54 -0600

In a way, the last couple of verses were like a confrontation. Look at this: 3Don't push your way to the front; don't sweet-talk your way to the top.

Are Blood Transfusions a Sin?

Wed, 22 Feb 2017 13:23:30 -0600

Some Anti-Theist Religious Bits & Pieces: Round Twelve

Mon, 20 Feb 2017 07:15:03 -0600

Philosophical concepts that surround life, the universe and everything, including those realms of theology, religions and the nature of deities continue to fascinate. Opinions proliferate. Are We In Sync?

Mon, 20 Feb 2017 07:11:05 -0600

So much of what Christians believe is based on the tutorial system. They learn from religious leaders and their spiritual peers. What they neglect to understand is that they still have an obligation to open the Bible themselves.

Thinking About Forgiveness - Again

Mon, 20 Feb 2017 07:06:46 -0600

"So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect." Not the words of a wimp or a phrase from one who has no experience with hatred, intolerance, misogyny, racism or any of the long list of human weakness, sin and flaws, the meaning of Christ's words cannot be misinterpreted.

Why Christianity Is the Most Complete Religion

Sat, 18 Feb 2017 16:52:18 -0600

First we have to understand why we should believe that a God actually exists. You could say it's in the creation itself. It's illogical to assume that chance really created rationality, so since we were actually created with a desire for meaningfulness, which is a part of rationality, and a creator is always greater than his creation, our creator must be greater in personhood (a God) than we are.

Monetizing and Marketing of The Word of God Is A Gross Act of Indiscipline

Sat, 18 Feb 2017 16:40:19 -0600

The word of God, as it is rightly so, issues from the creator of life, God. As such, no human being holds ownership to the good gems enshrined in the Holy writings. The copyright owner is exclusively the almighty God. Thus, taking credit in the form of monetary payments by imparting any kind of service from this spirit-directed writings is a gross act of indiscipline against the maker of all things, the almighty God Jehovah.

Learning From the Great Teacher

Thu, 16 Feb 2017 21:45:57 -0600

Have you ever tried to obey God but at the same time you thought that you did not have the understanding or the strength to do so? If so, you're not alone. The writer of the passage we heard from Psalm 119 felt the same way.

Return of the Princes

Thu, 16 Feb 2017 13:58:58 -0600

Incredible as it may seem, the Jehovah's Witnesses of about a century ago believed that the Old Testament Patriarchs were about to be resurrected. To that end, houses were built for them to live in, right on "Witness" property in San Diego! It didn't work out so well...

A Revealing Dialogue on a Rainy Day With Two Mormon Missionaries

Thu, 16 Feb 2017 07:38:04 -0600

A spiritual dialogue about grace, faith, salvation, and works with full-time Mormon missionaries can, by the will of God, sometimes open the eyes of young men and women who have been led to believe some very false and heretical doctrines about the Savior Jesus Christ taught by the Mormon Church. These LDS doctrines teach that Jesus' salvation only means resurrection from the dead, and has nothing to do with remission of sins and getting to heaven. Truly amazing it is that young Mormon missionaries actually know very little about the utter confusion that Joseph Smith, Jr.'s Book of Mormon produces about salvation, grace, and works, as compared to how the Apostle Paul defined salvation by grace through faith in Jesus in the Holy Bible. Read on for an interesting encounter with two Mormon missionaries at a bus stop.

Doesn't Matter

Wed, 15 Feb 2017 07:08:50 -0600

Someone pops up often predicting that Jesus' second coming will be on this or that day. Last year, with the fourth blood moon in a row coinciding with Biblical festivals, many said it was time.

We've got everything and you could say the best times are still ahead. Now we can enter the world. We can hop, skip and jump, because we believe in Christ. Our path has been paved for us, because God did everything for us.

Who Are the 144,000?

Tue, 14 Feb 2017 13:34:43 -0600

The Jehovah's Witnesses have one view of the 144,000. Most Christian thought goes elsewhere. Here is an imaginary conversation between a questioner (q) and a Jehovah's Witness (JWA), with a final summation by a Christian (CA).

The Importance of the Prayer Of Jabez

Tue, 14 Feb 2017 08:22:14 -0600

God is one, and he wants to bless all his children. God does not play partial; he wants to spread blessings to each and every life. But, in the direction of receiving blessings from God, we should first invite him in our life, making him the center of all our doings.

The Prodigal Son and Forgiveness

Mon, 13 Feb 2017 08:38:45 -0600

The parable of the Prodigal Son is described as emphasizing the celebration that follows forgiveness. Generous love, rather than judgment and anger, is important; but the eagerness of God to forgive and celebrate should be seen as central lessons. Also important is the fact that forgiveness does not remove natural consequences that must be lived with following the mountain top experience of joyful homecoming.
