Fri, 21 Apr 2017 15:35:46 -0500Psalm 16 is an expression of God's care and presence We will not rot in the grave. We know a life that is stronger than death. God has shown us the way of life, and we enjoy the pleasures of living with God now and forever. When we sense God's presence in our lives, we enjoy the pleasures of living with God now and forever, and we can face the challenges of life because we know that God is with us.
Fri, 21 Apr 2017 11:19:58 -0500We are living in what might be described as a liberal day, when it is the custom to question and argue and debate and rebel and refuse to obey. If these people under the dynamic leadership of Moses at that time had rebelled and disobeyed they would have paid a similar price as those in Egyptian households. The Hebrew people were safe and secure in the lamb, and the lamb would nourish them for what lay ahead. If all this were not historically accurate, and theologically true, why would Jesus Christ bother celebrating Passover the night before He died? These Hebrew slaves had to apply the blood to their own doorposts. I cannot apply the blood of Jesus Christ to your life, any more than Moses could apply it for them. Each individual person must assume that spiritual responsibility, before it is too late.
Fri, 21 Apr 2017 07:24:04 -0500I grew up in a traditional church that was more interested in hanging on to its formalities than it was in open-mindedly assessing why it was losing its youth. My own youth group was quite large but by the time we had reached 18 the vast majority of us had walked away from the church. As a result of these experiences I have, for a long time, been quite interested in the topic of youth and church.
Thu, 20 Apr 2017 09:16:37 -0500Countless people who place their faith in Christ say that their first and most evident emotion is the sense of having a burden lifted from them. The idea of repentance applies to us today. The Scriptures state that if we do not hear God's Word and repent, we will be destroyed. We have a choice, and we should choose the offer of mercy and embrace the Messiah. If we do, we will receive the same power of the Holy Spirit. When we receive the Holy Spirit, we will also be able to accomplish so much for the Kingdom while we are here on earth.
Wed, 19 Apr 2017 09:00:25 -0500Hebrews 10:12 "But when this Priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God". The problem of mankind (humans, animals, nature) were solved by just one perfect sacrifice offered by God Himself in human form in the person of Christ Jesus. The root cause of man's problem was sin and sin was dealt with by Christ Jesus once for all.
Sat, 15 Apr 2017 10:30:13 -0500Some times we make rash decisions based on incomplete facts. Nowhere is this more evident then with label wearing Christians. To take Scripture out of context to support preconceived notions serves not only as a deterrent to spiritual growth, but also a hindrance to those outside of the Faith.
Wed, 12 Apr 2017 09:53:30 -0500After his final class for the day, Bola walked into the school's cafeteria to fetch himself a meal for lunch. Excited about being newly admitted into this prestigious institution with great intellects as students, Bola had his meal with a feeling of self -fulfillment. Not sooner than he had finished doing justice to his meal, he saw a medical student who had sat close to him throw an empty container of a drink he had just finished on the floor, while a trash can was two tables away.
Wed, 12 Apr 2017 08:12:05 -0500We all feel the need for protection - from storms, theft, pain, etc. We can find that protection "under His wings".
Wed, 12 Apr 2017 08:10:18 -0500If - then there are definitely some very serious issues to consider. But you might reply by saying, 'Sure, but that "if" assumes way too much - no one really knows.' But to say 'no one really knows' is also a huge assumption. So, at least, will you consider some of these reasons that support Jesus' resurrection.
Tue, 11 Apr 2017 15:06:10 -0500Wow, we've spent some time discussing worrying and God, but there's more. This is good, because I think most of us, if not all of us, are flattened by worrying now and then.
Tue, 11 Apr 2017 15:05:37 -0500Paul is in jail and the congregation he is writing to has sent him a present. He is so grateful: 10I'm glad in God, far happier than you would ever guess-happy that you're again showing such strong concern for me.
Tue, 11 Apr 2017 15:05:22 -0500Paul has experienced both sides of life. He has done this so often that it was actually too much.

Tue, 11 Apr 2017 08:09:16 -0500I can think of hundreds of examples where the children of the Lord gained lots of ground for the Kingdom simply to lose it all when stepping into a big hole along the way. All the good work deleted in one stroke.

Mon, 10 Apr 2017 08:15:52 -0500As a pastor who constantly preaches and listens to sermons I have learned that it is important for us, whether speaking in public or in one on one, to be mindful of the words and phrases we use. Over the years many of us become comfortable with our Christian lingo. We become so comfortable in fact that we think we are still speaking English when in reality we are speaking Christianese. The problem becomes worse when our Christianese is supplemented with the use of Lutheranese, Baptistese, or Adventese, etc. Thus, our language ends up twice removed from the real world and we don't even notice it.
Mon, 10 Apr 2017 07:57:14 -0500Catholics make the idea of retribution too hard with their belief in purgatory, but evangelicals make forgiveness too cheap with their all-is-forgiven theology. The latter think they are in a win-win situation and the former are not allowed to have security of salvation. Both are wrong.
Sun, 09 Apr 2017 16:48:19 -0500By abiding in Jesus, we will produce an abundance of fruit. When we are not in continual fellowship with Him, we will be like the fig tree that had the appearance of fruit, but upon closer examination, there was no fruit. (Matthew 21:19)
Sat, 08 Apr 2017 14:49:59 -0500One thing that apparently humans excel at relative to other species is having an imagination. Witness the multi-thousands upon thousands of fantastic science fiction and fantasy and mythological tales attributed to the human imagination and human authorship. Since the Bible is full of such fantastic mythological and supernatural-themed stories, it's not unreasonable to postulate that the Bible too is just a product of pure human imagination.
Fri, 07 Apr 2017 08:54:54 -0500Rattling off scripted prayers written by religious people often centuries ago does nothing for anyone. When the roots of those prayers are examined the reality is that they are part of the blinding of humanity and the burying of the truth. It is rather astounding to think that most people cannot put enough words together to ask God about their lives or where they are supposed to be heading.
Fri, 07 Apr 2017 08:04:43 -0500I enjoy mysteries. Not only reading them or discussing them but also writing them. One that I have given a lot of thought to over the years is the Easter story itself. It is hard to ignore, whatever your religion or philosophy, given that it has had such a deep and lasting effect on the World, and on many individuals. In this article, I look at several suggested explanations and consider the strengths and weaknesses of each.
Fri, 07 Apr 2017 07:46:55 -0500I am a Jesus-follower. My culture is koinonia. I was born and raised in church. This whole religion/ Jesus thing is not weird for me. I have been exposed to it all of my life. And one of the biggest mistakes I make when it comes to sharing Jesus is assuming that everyone else is as comfortable with him as I am. But just a half hour ago I got a taste of what it means to be on the other side of this spectrum.
Thu, 06 Apr 2017 08:51:30 -0500"My Church does not really believe I'm coming back soon!" Christ cried three times after police officer Marty Breeden coded blue, took his last breath and met Jesus on July 17, 2015. Breeden pleaded with Him that the church is ready.

Thu, 06 Apr 2017 07:04:33 -0500Following Richard Dawkins and other high-profile atheists, many people have the idea that atheistic belief relies on the wonderful powers of human reason. The thought has become commonplace; atheism is super-reasonable, while Christianity is super-daft nonsense. Popular atheistic belief needs to be teased out a little to see what in fact it relies on.
Wed, 05 Apr 2017 14:12:31 -0500Although we hold no brief with invisible friends in the sky-not the nine choirs of angels, the eight maids a-milking, the heavenly hosts a-dancing, or the figments of anybody's fevered second-rate imagination-we are fascinated with the Historical Jesus, the apocalyptic prophet and rabble-rouser who did exist and who was crucified by Roman authorities, and about whom nothing much else can be said for sure, unless you are willing to credit the bilge water about Jesus the Christ concocted by Saint Paul and the other charlatans whose "work" makes up the New Testament. We emphatically are not.

Mon, 03 Apr 2017 07:16:32 -0500Religions differ in the kind and degree of abstinence advocated to their priests. Priesthood that dictates sexual abstinence expects the priest to extend his practice of abstinence to his sexual realm. Total surrender and wholehearted devotion to the deity or an ideal is the major religious-- strategy advocated for taming the drive sex which is the cardinal medium through which life perpetuates itself on the surface of the planet. Attempts made to investigate into the factors that debilitate aspiring priests to accomplish their vocational purpose through abstinence must not be deemed as anti- spiritual
Sun, 02 Apr 2017 17:43:34 -0500It is interesting how we throw about words with little or no understanding of what is the real meaning of these syllabic utterances. We use that word in a shotgun range that takes in everything from materialistic gratification to the expression of intense feelings.
Sun, 02 Apr 2017 10:37:44 -0500Sometimes God allows us to go through suffering and hardship so that we can see Him deliver us through His mercy and power. Miracles can and do happen when we pray to God.
Sun, 02 Apr 2017 10:37:28 -0500One of our obligations is to know God. That means more than having a peaceful feeling in our hearts. It means acting for the benefit of others, especially for people who can't pay us back. If we know God, we will love to serve him. If we know God, he will speak to us in both our prosperity and our hardship. In both cases we have to listen carefully for His voice and hear and obey what He says.
Sun, 02 Apr 2017 10:36:54 -0500To most people, life is tough. To others, problems are not stumbling blocks. It is all about our mindset and attitude to the situations we are faced with daily.

Fri, 31 Mar 2017 04:34:06 -0500The roots of religion are covered and deeply buried in a wave of confusion, mystery, and magic. There are, however, revelations that will stun most and eventually may bring such institutions to an end. Their premise is based on the after-life and whether or not their people will have an eternity of great things or a fiery time in hell.
Thu, 30 Mar 2017 12:04:34 -0500People who are living in darkness in our world today are not attracted to more darkness. They are attracted to the Light on Christ. We can help them out by turning on our own lights from Christ.

Sun, 26 Mar 2017 21:28:59 -0500Spiritual and political partisanship has weakened both the Church and our Country. From the religious community to the news media, speculations, innuendoes, and conjectures have dominated our interests. "Fake News" has no borders. Spiritual and secular facts have been interpreted to serve individual interests.
Sat, 25 Mar 2017 09:30:24 -0500For many people, Christianity and Church are synonymous. However, an increasing number of people do not agree. In this article I try to examine the issues involved and suggest alternatives for people who find churchgoing a problem rather than a solution.
Fri, 24 Mar 2017 11:59:00 -0500A U.N. report provides further evidence that social supports build trust and healthy lives, leading to high levels of happiness. Norway and other Scandinavian nations hold the top rankings, whereas the U.S., far richer and more technologically advanced, is only 14th in the happiness ratings. The U.S. needs to do much better in moderating rising inequality, corruption, isolation, and distrust.
Thu, 23 Mar 2017 14:46:44 -0500Connecting these ideas and the idea that the Qur'an composed of verses that are perfected and then expounded for us, consider the verse which says: "The likeness of Jesus before Allah is as the likeness of Adam." (3:59) It is very clear that what we have in the statement is an equation. This verse goes on to explain how that is true because they both came under unusual circumstances rather than having a mother and a father in the usual human reproductive way.

Wed, 22 Mar 2017 13:03:32 -0500Originally Easter coincided with the equinox and was celebrated on the 22nd - 25th March. The month was named according to the mass migration of people to the hilltops to witness the arrival of the sun-god, which is described in the name. 'Ma' is 'mother' while [r] or 'ra' stands for power and [x] for cross.

Wed, 22 Mar 2017 10:28:22 -0500I find it interesting in my own personal experience that when I wear any Christian t-shirt, it makes me more aware of my behavior and attitude. I find myself more conscious of my actions because I want to set a good example for what I represent. Does that make me a perfect person? Absolutely not, but it does help me one step at a time to improve.
Wed, 22 Mar 2017 06:49:55 -0500As Easter approaches and the Christian world looks to celebrating a mythical event, namely that of the crucifixion and resurrection of its Prophet, there is a strong case that Jesus Christ never existed and that he is the invention of the Second Beast of Revelation. Following my reincarnation and with a strong link to the Spirit of the Universe, the Great Creator, it is given to me to prove the case and to open the door to the facts. The notion that this so-called Saviour rose bodily into heaven having resurrected three days after his...
Wed, 22 Mar 2017 06:47:26 -0500The fall-out of the paedophile scandal rocking religious institutions and the growth of Islamic terrorism is pushing them to the brink of destruction. While the bible is a greatly polluted and mostly unreliable document there are parts of it that were given by God. Some of the prophecies in the Old Testament and parts of Revelation are definitely indicators of God's wrath and the consequences.
Tue, 21 Mar 2017 10:31:31 -0500Many religions also claim belief in One God however, they associate partners with Him. The following are examples: •Worshipping or asking forgiveness of God through His creation •Delegating some of God's attributes to other objects or beings •Setting up rivals with God by elevating something to be in opposition to Him The above mentioned beliefs or actions all go against the very principles of Islam. Muslims believe that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the final Prophet in a...
Mon, 20 Mar 2017 07:32:44 -0500The story of Mormonism and the explanation of Mormon theology as given by full-time Mormon missionaries, young men, young women, and senior married couples, are total fabrications of the truth about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If Christians invite these Mormon agents into their homes, they should be prepared for six presentations filled with lies and distortions about the Mormon Church, its theology, doctrine, and history. The Mormon Church is a 700 billion dollar organization with a mandate and agenda of deceiving as many Christians as possible into joining its pagan ranks. The following article deals with the real story of Mormonism and the birth of 19th Century Mormon polytheistic theology and doctrine.
Sun, 19 Mar 2017 14:23:55 -0500When something is good, it should be shared. Those who share get joy that often eclipses the satisfaction that they receive from having the good thing all to themselves. A smile put on someone else's face is priceless simply because you were the one that put that smile there. Yet, sometimes, the good thing is better when you give concern instead of something that creates a smile. Perhaps you care more for others when you raise a concern that might lead someone else to a greater good.
Sun, 19 Mar 2017 14:16:23 -0500Philosophical concepts that surround life, the universe and everything, including those realms of theology, religions and the nature of deities continue to fascinate. Opinions proliferate. There's the theist pro side; there's the atheist anti-side. There aren't too many fence-sitters. I'm still in the anti-camp as the following thirteenth helping of "Religious Bits and Pieces" illustrate.
Sun, 19 Mar 2017 14:14:41 -0500To understand the Holy Spirits role in the Believer one needs to study the Upper Room discourse between Jesus and His disciples. (John 14 through 17) Here Jesus shared some of His greatest Truths.
Fri, 17 Mar 2017 08:58:15 -0500Many people think and have been taught that when Jesus is talking in John 14:2-3 that they are going to get a great home of brick and mortar, or a mansion. I believe that in light of the words being used in 2 Corinthians 5:1 (For we know that if the tent which is our earthly home is destroyed (dissolved), we have from God a building, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.) Jesus could be talking about preparing our new resurrected bodies for us to dwell or abide in at the Resurrection or maybe He is talking about an even deeper truth. The thing to remember is that the real you is a spirit and our body on earth is our earth suit or dwelling. Is it not reasonable to consider that we will not need to live in brick and mortar buildings, but we will need to have a new dwelling for our spirits in the everlasting?
Fri, 17 Mar 2017 07:57:26 -0500What awaits the Believer on the other side of death? Is Paradise and Heaven the same place? As our body descends into the earth, does our spirit ascent into the Heavenlies? Is the separation of the spirit from the body an instant experience or does the triune man man sleep until he is awakened at the Lord's coming?
Thu, 16 Mar 2017 07:42:28 -0500What an amazing letter this is, as it deals with some of the real problems which are presently facing the Church of Jesus Christ. Paul is writing to believers - to disciples of Jesus. He is writing to men and women who have tasted something of the Mercy and Love and Forgiveness of Jesus Christ, and of the Power of the Holy Spirit. But, they were deserting God, and they were falling back into what we call legalism. They had been bewitched. They were turning away from the Cross of Jesus Christ, and having begun in the Spirit, and having begun in the power of the Holy Spirit, they were now relying upon works of the flesh, and what they could do. This is a problem we face in Scotland, but I am sure, elsewhere too.
Thu, 16 Mar 2017 07:41:45 -0500The Church of Jesus Christ was facing serious issues. There could have been division at a very early stage on matters that were critical and crucial and theological. The very truth of the Gospel was being challenged. That is happening today, and this is one reason why I have turned to the letter to the Galatians in the New Testament. The answers to what happened then are highly relevant to the situation facing the Church of Jesus Christ today! In these opening verses Paul is already focusing people's attention on Jesus Christ and the Cross - how to be rescued and saved - and he is giving all the glory to God.

Tue, 14 Mar 2017 07:57:30 -0500It was on the TV screens at the gym that I first heard about Oscar Pistorius and Reeva's trauma. My heart shrank and I felt so very sorry for him.
Tue, 14 Mar 2017 07:55:58 -050012 I'm not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me.
Tue, 14 Mar 2017 07:55:53 -0500One thing that really rubs me up the wrong way is when people are so in love with their own way of believing that I start feeling inferior about my way of believing. Many people appear as if they possess all spiritual knowledge.
Mon, 13 Mar 2017 13:45:18 -0500Let's take this bull by the horns: Do you give to others? How many times do you give?
Mon, 13 Mar 2017 13:45:16 -0500I hope you have a blessed and fun filled 2017! We are still busy with Paul's letters and he offers us a glimpse of his life BC (before Christ). Indeed a shining example for others to follow.

Mon, 13 Mar 2017 13:36:53 -0500We must realize that our picture is not finished yet. Some spots still need work.
Mon, 13 Mar 2017 13:35:29 -0500Most people who do not know God often do not have fine qualities. Love is missing from their foundation and their actions are often characterized by a lack of love.
Mon, 13 Mar 2017 13:24:48 -0500Paul was concerned about the young Christians in Philippi. Someone had to go and see them.
Mon, 13 Mar 2017 13:23:02 -0500Paul gives us a glimpse of the life of a man of God. He talks about Timothy who is working very hard with him to share the Gospel with people.
Mon, 13 Mar 2017 13:22:40 -0500Sitting around the camp fire, my friend told me about his work. The business he worked for provided support to struggling students by empowering them through further training in order to actually enter the work force.
Mon, 13 Mar 2017 13:22:29 -05001And that's about it, friends. Be glad in God!
Mon, 13 Mar 2017 08:51:14 -0500Battle is part of life, from time to time people go through challenges such as barrenness, sickness, affliction, stagnancy, poverty e.t.c. Stagnation is characterized by lack of development, advancement or progressive movement. In the journey of growth, there are times when we grow and excel, we are endlessly driven and hyped up, motivated to get our goals, then there are times when we stagnate, we feel uninspired and unmotivated, we keep procrastinating on our plans.
Mon, 13 Mar 2017 07:24:21 -0500Do we really understand what Jesus has done for us? One sometimes hears stories about people who gave up everything in their lives to spread the gospel in a far-off place.
Mon, 13 Mar 2017 07:24:18 -0500Try and put yourself in Jesus' shoes. Just getting on with his life in heaven, doing those things fitting for a prince.
Mon, 13 Mar 2017 07:21:58 -0500I have a mentor who really means a lot to me. I often face questions that I have no clue how to answer.
Mon, 13 Mar 2017 07:20:04 -0500And as if this much was not enough, He is sharing with me, in the present tense, meaning right now, He is sharing with me, partaking with me, of His divinity. This is mind boggling, I mean, this is amazing. I certainly cannot wrap my pea size brain around the magnitude of this statement. Let alone absorb it.
Sun, 12 Mar 2017 21:13:11 -0500When it comes to the political arena, we hear a lot lately about, "fake news." If something is indeed, "fake," those hearing the "fake news" are led to believe something is true when it is not. There is another arena where one needs to beware of "fake news."
Fri, 10 Mar 2017 08:25:01 -0600Christ said the broad way leads to destruction, but a billion Christians have a very shallow understanding of the Bible. It is the best-seller but the least understood. It is possible to understand more than what we were told from childhood, and the times are beginning to demand it.
Wed, 08 Mar 2017 08:38:56 -0600"And thou wilt find the nearest in friendship to the believers(Muslims) to be those who say, We are Christians. That is because there are priests and monks among them and because they are not proud." (Qur'an 5:82)
Sun, 05 Mar 2017 21:48:48 -0600The Church is not immune to a foundational crisis. If not built on the foundation of Jesus Christ it will be prone to sink holes. Jesus is the foundation and Cornerstone of our Faith, and when we fail to shore up our beliefs, we will become nothing more then a brick and mortar institute of socially promoted behavior.
Fri, 03 Mar 2017 14:32:23 -0600A friend may be defined simply as a well-wisher; since goodness to somebody or something could be used to establish the distinction between a friend and an enemy. Occasionally most of the traits of the natural man, exhibiting the entirety of the thoughts within, are evil; thus confirming God's word in Psalm 94:11. For this reason all the natural man can offer is, at best described as, fair-weather friendship. But there is a friend that surpasses all friends. He is the real friend. He is the friend indeed. His name is Jesus Christ.
