No Happy Birthdays Allowed

Mon, 20 Feb 2017 13:13:41 -0600

Never wish a Jehovah's Witness a "Happy Birthday." You might get a rebuke. They are not allowed to celebrate birthdays! Here's why.

Some Anti-Theist Religious Bits & Pieces: Round Twelve

Mon, 20 Feb 2017 07:15:03 -0600

Philosophical concepts that surround life, the universe and everything, including those realms of theology, religions and the nature of deities continue to fascinate. Opinions proliferate. There's the theist pro side; there's the atheist anti-side. There aren't too many fence-sitters. I'm still in the anti-camp as the following twelfth helping of "Religious Bits and Pieces" illustrate.

Are We In Sync?

Mon, 20 Feb 2017 07:11:05 -0600

So much of what Christians believe is based on the tutorial system. They learn from religious leaders and their spiritual peers. What they neglect to understand is that they still have an obligation to open the Bible themselves.

Thinking About Forgiveness - Again

Mon, 20 Feb 2017 07:06:46 -0600

"So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect." Not the words of a wimp or a phrase from one who has no experience with hatred, intolerance, misogyny, racism or any of the long list of human weakness, sin and flaws, the meaning of Christ's words cannot be misinterpreted.

Why Christianity Is the Most Complete Religion

Sat, 18 Feb 2017 16:52:18 -0600

First we have to understand why we should believe that a God actually exists. You could say it's in the creation itself. It's illogical to assume that chance really created rationality, so since we were actually created with a desire for meaningfulness, which is a part of rationality, and a creator is always greater than his creation, our creator must be greater in personhood (a God) than we are.

Monetizing and Marketing of The Word of God Is A Gross Act of Indiscipline

Sat, 18 Feb 2017 16:40:19 -0600

The word of God, as it is rightly so, issues from the creator of life, God. As such, no human being holds ownership to the good gems enshrined in the Holy writings. The copyright owner is exclusively the almighty God. Thus, taking credit in the form of monetary payments by imparting any kind of service from this spirit-directed writings is a gross act of indiscipline against the maker of all things, the almighty God Jehovah.

Learning From the Great Teacher

Thu, 16 Feb 2017 21:45:57 -0600

Have you ever tried to obey God but at the same time you thought that you did not have the understanding or the strength to do so? If so, you're not alone. The writer of the passage we heard from Psalm 119 felt the same way.

Return of the Princes

Thu, 16 Feb 2017 13:58:58 -0600

Incredible as it may seem, the Jehovah's Witnesses of about a century ago believed that the Old Testament Patriarchs were about to be resurrected. To that end, houses were built for them to live in, right on "Witness" property in San Diego! It didn't work out so well...

A Revealing Dialogue on a Rainy Day With Two Mormon Missionaries

Thu, 16 Feb 2017 07:38:04 -0600

A spiritual dialogue about grace, faith, salvation, and works with full-time Mormon missionaries can, by the will of God, sometimes open the eyes of young men and women who have been led to believe some very false and heretical doctrines about the Savior Jesus Christ taught by the Mormon Church. These LDS doctrines teach that Jesus' salvation only means resurrection from the dead, and has nothing to do with remission of sins and getting to heaven. Truly amazing it is that young Mormon missionaries actually know very little about the utter confusion that Joseph Smith, Jr.'s Book of Mormon produces about salvation, grace, and works, as compared to how the Apostle Paul defined salvation by grace through faith in Jesus in the Holy Bible. Read on for an interesting encounter with two Mormon missionaries at a bus stop.

Doesn't Matter

Wed, 15 Feb 2017 07:08:50 -0600

Someone pops up often predicting that Jesus' second coming will be on this or that day. Last year, with the fourth blood moon in a row coinciding with Biblical festivals, many said it was time.

Being an Advertisement

During the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England we lost the first game against Japan. What a shock for all South Africans.

Stand United

Wed, 15 Feb 2017 07:07:49 -0600

Before I started running Crossroads full-time, I worked at a factory where every Friday a Xhosa minister brought God's message to the employees. But when he was not available, I did it.

Do Not Fear

Wed, 15 Feb 2017 07:06:21 -0600

I'm not good at debating a point with others. I'm simply not talented in that way.

Life Happens for Everybody

Wed, 15 Feb 2017 07:05:51 -0600

It sounds so good: 28... Your courage and unity will show them what they're up against: defeat for them, victory for you-and both because of God. We are so privileged. We've got everything and you could say the best times are still ahead. Now we can enter the world. We can hop, skip and jump, because we believe in Christ. Our path has been paved for us, because God did everything for us.

Value Add

Wed, 15 Feb 2017 07:05:43 -0600

The Philippians were arguing and fighting. They had different interpretations of the Gospel, which led to continuous arguments - sounds familiar, doesn't it?

Who Are the 144,000?

Tue, 14 Feb 2017 13:34:43 -0600

The Jehovah's Witnesses have one view of the 144,000. Most Christian thought goes elsewhere. Here is an imaginary conversation between a questioner (q) and a Jehovah's Witness (JWA), with a final summation by a Christian (CA).

The Importance of the Prayer Of Jabez

Tue, 14 Feb 2017 08:22:14 -0600

God is one, and he wants to bless all his children. God does not play partial; he wants to spread blessings to each and every life. But, in the direction of receiving blessings from God, we should first invite him in our life, making him the center of all our doings.

The Prodigal Son and Forgiveness

Mon, 13 Feb 2017 08:38:45 -0600

The parable of the Prodigal Son is described as emphasizing the celebration that follows forgiveness. Generous love, rather than judgment and anger, is important; but the eagerness of God to forgive and celebrate should be seen as central lessons. Also important is the fact that forgiveness does not remove natural consequences that must be lived with following the mountain top experience of joyful homecoming.

Joyful Encounters

Mon, 13 Feb 2017 08:36:20 -0600

Everything we face in life is a potential learning experience. The trials and testing of our faith are meant to bring about growth and stability in our lives, but instead of recognizing them as such, we tend to take cover and question why these speed bumps are happening to us.

God Compensates for the Worst by Redeeming for Us the Best

Fri, 10 Feb 2017 06:59:19 -0600

The world hates suffering. None of us like it. But it is necessary for the better things to come. But that isn't a theology many, if anyone, in our day will be comfortable with.

Speak the Truth, and Speak It Boldly

Thu, 09 Feb 2017 12:55:05 -0600

If we want to be used by God, we have to purify our hearts. God uses all kinds of people., but only if they are clean on the inside. If we want to purify ourselves, we have to confess our sins, repent and accept Christ as our Saviour.

Calling in Reinforcements for the Right Road

Wed, 08 Feb 2017 12:50:23 -0600

How do you live right? Nowadays right and wrong are so interwoven that you hardly know which way to go.

A Cup of Coffee on Life

Wed, 08 Feb 2017 12:50:06 -0600

If you are alive, chances are good that life will throw you a curve ball or sometimes even more than that. And being a child of God does not necessarily mean that you will always catch those curve balls.

When the Going Gets Tough

Wed, 08 Feb 2017 12:46:59 -0600

Billy Ocean sang a song, When the going gets tough, the tough get going. I always wondered about the meaning, and checked it out in the dictionary: When conditions become difficult, strong people take action.

Called Up in Hard Times Too

Wed, 08 Feb 2017 12:44:32 -0600

Looking at this scripture again, I think back on an event from my days in the business world. One day I had to go to the CCMA.

Through What Lens Are You Looking?

Wed, 08 Feb 2017 12:42:49 -0600

One of the things that really breaks my heart is when the children of the Lord argues with one another. Some do not hesitate to take out others and do it in the Name of the Lord.

Not Too Embarrassed to Help

Wed, 08 Feb 2017 12:41:42 -0600

I watched a video on Facebook: No means No, a moving video about the things that happen around us that many of us keep quiet about. It's a challenging video.

Just a Little Thing About Wording

Wed, 08 Feb 2017 08:18:02 -0600

Wording for many may not seem that important. But, wording can be infinitely important.

Sermon for the Catholic Bishops

Tue, 07 Feb 2017 09:21:33 -0600

Pardon my irreverence, but I, a layman, wish to address this to the leaders of my Church. This I do with reluctance, but somebody said that writing is an act of desperation.

The Church Is Heaven's Embassy In The World

Tue, 07 Feb 2017 09:02:47 -0600

Visas are necessary to get into foreign lands. Similarly, salvation through Jesus is the requirement to get from this world into heaven after this life. Just as an Embassy shows how to obtain visas, the Church shows how to get saved to get into heaven.

No Fly by Night

Tue, 07 Feb 2017 07:14:31 -0600

There are so many fly by nights out there. Many people come up with brand new plans and persuade many others to also believe in this plan.

Close Enough

Some Anti-Theist Religious Bits & Pieces: Round Eleven

Mon, 06 Feb 2017 14:53:41 -0600

Philosophical concepts that surround life, the universe and everything, including those realms of theology, religions and the nature of deities continue to fascinate. Opinions proliferate. There's the theist pro side; there's the atheist anti-side. There aren't too many fence-sitters. I'm still in the anti-camp as the following eleventh helping of "Religious Bits and Pieces" illustrate.

From the Historical to the Living

Mon, 06 Feb 2017 14:41:48 -0600

What are the people of the world seeing in us, Jesus, or a slightly different version of themselves? It is time for Christians to decide whether to rest on the historical Jesus, or live a life with the resurrected Christ!

Paul's Parting Words

Sun, 05 Feb 2017 18:25:55 -0600

The gospel must be guarded as a treasure. Its words are right, healthy and whole and must not be tampered with. If anyone thinks he or she can adequately watch over this gift, he or she needs to remember Paul's words to Timothy, especially his instructions to rely on the Holy Spirit's help.

The Big Bang Theory Is Not Credible - The Reality Behind the Creation of the Universe

Sun, 05 Feb 2017 14:45:40 -0600

Most of us might have read or at least heard about the verdict of Science in determining the creation of the Universe. The following article will give you a clear perspective on the evolution of the Universe and will prove how the Big Bang Theory is not correct!

Religion Is The Product of the Two Beasts of Revelation

Fri, 03 Feb 2017 07:38:22 -0600

Most are aware of one of these beasts as being the one with the number 666. It is the first beast, however, that has escaped notice. Together they are a force that could not be broken or destroyed without the input of the Spirit of the Universe, the only real God.

Don't Be a Judas: Be a Man of God

Thu, 02 Feb 2017 07:50:31 -0600

This article is simply to encourage men to be godly men. A godly man cultivates an intimate relationship with God. A godly man takes care of his family. A godly man pursues and fulfills purpose. Like the disciples, Judas was called by Jesus, but he never realized his purpose as an apostle of the kingdom. He pursued selfish desires rather than the will of God. Choose to be a godly man.

Who Is a Muslim Child?

Tue, 31 Jan 2017 07:43:55 -0600

It was recently reported that a right-wing supporter of President Trump had advocated handcuffing Muslim children even as young as 5-years-old. This savage statement received a sharp repost from liberal people who were horrified at the thought of young children being so harshly treated. People of goodwill naturally assign innocence to infants irrespective of the characteristics of their parents. There is no such entity as a 5-year-old Muslim child; there is only a child of Muslim parentage.

Life is not easy. It's rushing from one day to the other.

Pray, Because Prayer Works

Tue, 31 Jan 2017 07:25:45 -0600

It's time for a confession. No, not to confess what I believe in.

The Glue That Binds Us Together

Tue, 31 Jan 2017 07:25:30 -0600

There's an old saying that the first thing a South African does in a new place is to secede. And there's a whole lot of truth in that statement.

To Pull Out All the Stops

Mon, 30 Jan 2017 13:50:22 -0600

Paul and Timothy pull out all the stops in serving God. They couldn't wait to get up in the morning to bring God's new message to the world.

Your CV Please

Mon, 30 Jan 2017 13:45:30 -0600

As a businessman I never had a good track record when it came to making new appointments. It's always such a process to appoint new people, because first you have to place the right advertisement, then you receive thousands of electronic CVs, and then you have to choose those you want to interview. The last three or four appointments hardly lasted three months.

A Perspective on Suffering

Mon, 30 Jan 2017 07:59:35 -0600

The subject of suffering has presented the Believer with more questions than answers. Suffering transcends the triune nature of man. Our spirit, soul, and body are susceptible to the painful sensations and impressions that inflict our lives. Is there a purpose to our sufferings?

Why Did God Give Us Winter?

Sat, 28 Jan 2017 13:50:16 -0600

I have a rare disease called Coldaphobia. As far as I know, there is no cure for this except escaping to Florida. Even here, cold will manage to sometimes poke its nose into my business. All I can do at the time is sneeze, hoping it will scare the cold away.

The Case of the People of Israel Vs God

Thu, 26 Jan 2017 12:59:27 -0600

We have a choice. We can live in the grasp of sin and evil, or we can give our hearts over to Jesus. He gave everything He had, including his life, to rescue us from sin, so it's only fair that we give Him everything we have, including our lives.

Extortionists in The Guise of Pastors

Thu, 26 Jan 2017 08:17:46 -0600

"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."(Malachi 3:10). Indeed, this verse of the Bible has become a National Anthem for most Extortionists or the so-called Pastors, who deliberately preach the compulsory payment of tithe, just to fill their pockets.

See Faith in Love

Wed, 25 Jan 2017 07:48:35 -0600

The "wake up and smell the roses" sign appears right before each of us. Stop and look at the actions you are sowing. They understand that Jesus' love must be passed on to those who need it.

An Honorary Doctorate for You?

Wed, 25 Jan 2017 07:48:31 -0600

We must turn away from what we want to what we can give people who struggle to live according to the will of God just like us. We must look for places where we can make a difference, which, strangely enough, are often not so far away as we thought.

To Help Those in Need

Tue, 24 Jan 2017 07:44:10 -0600

That is church. That is why we exist. To make a change in the lives of other human beings. And Paulus said we had to budget for it. Each month put something away so that you can be ready and prepared when need knocks on your door, so that you can give without hesitating.

Just Pretend for a Moment (Surprise) There's a God: What Would You Say for Yourself on Judgment Day?

Tue, 24 Jan 2017 07:31:13 -0600

A hypothetical question leads Don and a few of his skeptical friends to imagine that they were mistaken in thinking, due to their reliance on what reason they had and evidence they had to go on, that God did not exist. Now they stand in judgment, at least as an exercise, and address God, each in turn.

Member of the Winning Team

Mon, 23 Jan 2017 15:05:09 -0600

The members of Jesus' winning team, that's us, stand their ground in faith. But they do more than simply believing, they also do. They look for places in God's Kingdom where they can make a difference.

Fear of Death Disappears Like Mist Before the Sun

Mon, 23 Jan 2017 14:59:34 -0600

Let's live like winners. Let's walk through the world and tell those people who are so afraid or who are living as if everything will end here that we're members of the winning team. Let's live as victors and go make a difference.

Unsolicited Blessings

Mon, 23 Jan 2017 07:24:40 -0600

God answers prayer, as well as blessing us, even if we are not cognizant of the fact. Let us not be surprised when we receive an unsolicited blessing, for His blessings are all around us, just waiting for us to discover them.

Ride On Sir Galahad

Fri, 20 Jan 2017 07:56:00 -0600

As the world turns another page in history we would be mindful to not only remember the past but actually learn from it. To often man has failed to understand the lessons that history is supposed to teach us. As a new President is about to take his place on the world's stage we are often reminded of great hero's that through their deeds accomplished great and marvelous things.

The Light of Christ

Thu, 19 Jan 2017 13:09:55 -0600

Darkness is associated with a number of unpleasant things. When we are in the dark, we tend to move slowly or wander aimlessly. We tend to be scared in the dark, mainly because we can't see the dangers that would be apparent if it were light. There is something about darkness that makes us scared.

The Christian Trifecta

Mon, 16 Jan 2017 09:05:23 -0600

The Church is not to be the spiritual babysitter of the Believer, but a worshiping, teaching, preaching center of spiritual growth. It is to be a place of praising, instructing, and heralding God's word in an atmosphere of holiness. The Believer has a responsibility that will reflect on not only his life but the church as well.

What's In a Name? Our Christian Roles

Sun, 15 Jan 2017 11:06:40 -0600

You have probably heard the phrase "What's in a name?" from time to time. Names mean different things to different people. In the reading we heard from John 1:29-42 a few minutes ago, we heard some of the names given to Jesus and given by Jesus.

Everybody Can Rise With Jesus

Fri, 13 Jan 2017 08:17:49 -0600

Keep on believing that very person has a belief button and that he or she will switch it on one day. Keep hoping that others will start believing. Keep on hoping that the light will be switched on in their lives some time and that they will rise with us one day.

Annihilation, the Witness Answer to Death's Mysteries

Thu, 12 Jan 2017 12:58:22 -0600

What happens at Death? The Jehovah's Witnesses think they have found the answer.

How Is Your Memorial?

Mon, 09 Jan 2017 08:22:10 -0600

Is our prayer and monetary giving a memorial unto the Lord? Does God remember the actions of our faith filled prayers and giving? When faith ushers our petitions into the throne room of God, He anticipates that our actions will accompany our requests.

At A Jehovah's Witness Meeting

Fri, 06 Jan 2017 11:40:40 -0600

If you have never visited a Kingdom Hall, here is your chance. I have no desire to promote the Jehovah's Witness movement. Far from it. In fact, quite the opposite. May you be guided with discernment as you read.

2017: A Year of Victory (2)

Fri, 06 Jan 2017 07:46:26 -0600

Now, suddenly, Jehovah God showed up. The throne of no disappointment! He began to speak and move in their midst. He immediately gave Moses instructions and directions. The pillars of fire and cloud began to re-align. My God! Divine confusion took over the camp of their enemies as God miraculously path the sea for them to escape. And more interestingly is that the same instrument of escape for them because the instrument of extermination of their enemies. Watching this commando-style deliverance, Moses and Israel instantaneously burst into songs of victory. I see you singing from now in the name of Jesus! It shall be like a dream. It shall happen suddenly! Listen, God is doing for you exactly what He did for Israel at the shores of the Red Sea. Look at the way of escape that is already created for you. Yes, it will happen suddenly. Get ready! You will soon say like Moses and Israel that the LORD has become your strength, your song and your victory! Praise God! Nothing will stop this celebration in your life this year. It is your time of victory! God bless you!

Religion in Children's Books

Fri, 06 Jan 2017 07:43:13 -0600

A. A. Milne had Christopher Robin saying his prayers in his popular children's books about the teddy bear, Winnie the Pooh, but he was writing for a readership that was much more culturally homogeneous than exists for authors today. In England in the 1920s, there was almost no one who dared to whisper during this long-established and almost universally-practised bedtime ritual, and those who did whisper probably felt guilty about it. However, in modern times, the native English have largely abandoned their traditional religion and the large immigrant communities take their diverse alternative faiths very seriously, making life much more difficult for the authors of children's books.

Jesus' Second Advent - Are You Ready?

Thu, 05 Jan 2017 15:03:02 -0600

Jesus' First Advent, also known as Christmas is easy to prepare for, because we know it is always on December 25th. Nobody, but God knows when His Second Advent is going to be. Since we don't know the exact date for the Second Advent, it is wise to prepare now in anticipation for that event--believe in the name of Jesus Christ. He paid for your sins!

Can Religious Fanatics Be Educated?

Wed, 04 Jan 2017 23:03:26 -0600

The recent disasters of the British Brexit referendum and the US presidential election have brought renewed calls for better education. It is argued that if people were better educated they would make better choices in electing leaders as well as be more productive in the economic sphere. Education teaches one to look at all sides of an issue, carefully weigh the evidence and come to an objective conclusion. It encourages compromise, avoiding conflict by seeking solutions that benefit both parties in a dispute. However, in encouraging flexibility of thought, higher education directly opposes the tenets of religion as propounded by fundamentalists. Many minds are set against acquiring new knowledge because all they need to know is already revealed in their holy book.

Maintaining Positive Professions

Fri, 30 Dec 2016 08:30:10 -0600

Hebrews 4:14 "therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess". Hebrews 10:23 "let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful". Have you ever been faced with a challenge where it seems as if you are almost losing your faith in God?

Will Humans Ever Be Able To Live Without The God Delusion?

Tue, 27 Dec 2016 09:11:26 -0600

Robert Maynard Pirsig, an American writer and philosopher, says "when one person suffers from a delusion it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called religion". The Oxford dictionary defines the word delusion as "an idiosyncratic belief or impression maintained despite being contradicted by reality or rational argument, typically as a symptom of mental disorder". Does that mean the people who believe in the existence of the God almighty are all suffering from delusions? Well, it is a difficult question to answer. However, it is extremely difficult to prove the existence of God. The clergymen, who are the middlemen between the God and the humans, keep saying that God is very much existent, but to be able to perceive his presence one needs to be spiritually enlightened. And, people like me remain under the impression that may be I'm not spiritually enlightened enough to see him and that is why he is invisible to me.

Some Anti-Theist Religious Bits & Pieces: Round Ten

Tue, 27 Dec 2016 08:23:21 -0600

Philosophical concepts that surround life, the universe and everything, including those realms of theology, religions and the nature of deities continue to fascinate. Opinions proliferate. There's the theist pro side; there's the atheist anti-side. There aren't too many fence-sitters. I'm still in the anti-theist camp as the following tenth helping of "Religious Bits and Pieces" illustrate.

Consistency of Doctrine

Sun, 25 Dec 2016 17:17:36 -0600

Often, the consistency of what we do within organized religion takes precedence over the direction of God individually and corporately. We must remain open to the direction of the Lord in all things.

Wed, 21 Dec 2016 07:12:25 -0600

Joseph Franklin Rutherford. President, 1917-1942 Joseph Franklin Rutherford (November 8, 1869 - January 8, 1942) was raised by a farm family in Missouri. He was the second president of the Jehovah's Witnesses, or the third, or the first.

Be It Unto Me

Mon, 19 Dec 2016 07:39:29 -0600

Believers today are drawn to imitate the faith of so many personalities in the Scripture, but fail to include the actions of a young teenage girl called Mary. She defied all human reasoning to believe in the humanly impossible words of a special messenger. Then there was Joseph who followed the Divine direction without hesitation.

Where Does Consciousness Go When Humans Die?

Mon, 19 Dec 2016 07:00:59 -0600

Is there an afterlife? Ah, the philosophical questions of life and death, and honorable topic that most wish not to contemplate. Still, Greek Philosophers had pondered the 5-most important questions asked by men, and one of them of course is; "what happens to me after I die?" Well, wouldn't you like to know, I say with a smile? Interesting how others with religious connotations attempt to answer this question for us, and allow us eternal life if we submit to their authority. Well, some think this is a good trade off, although I must admit I am not one of them.

What Is Wrong With Religious And Cultural Holidays?

Mon, 19 Dec 2016 06:59:54 -0600

Why do some people wish to spoil Christmas Holidays for others? Over the years I've heard atheists say that public religious symbols should not be displayed. Why, I ask? Who is it hurting and if it makes people happy, so be it. The other day, I discussed this with a deist and he didn't think it was a problem to have a pledge of allegiance with the word "god" in it, nor do I, as I see it as a pledge that something big and grand is part of what makes this nation so special and great. The theory of a god or prime move would be something truly awesome right? So, then it makes sense to me even if you don't believe in a god or gods yourself.

Atheists Vs Christian Theists

Sat, 17 Dec 2016 10:53:30 -0600

If you watch or read atheist - theist debates, you'll quickly note that the arguments and discussions tend to fall into a rather general pattern. Albeit with some degree of prejudice from the anti-theist point of view, I present that overall pattern in a condensed form. This is after all an essay and not a book (easily achievable)!

If the Kingdom of Heaven Is Not Segregated, Then Why Is the Church?

Thu, 15 Dec 2016 09:13:12 -0600

Remember those popular groups we used to have in school? Have you ever walked through the doors of a church and felt as if you had walked into the wrong popular group?

Road To Leadership

Wed, 14 Dec 2016 10:41:18 -0600

When you think leadership, what comes to your mind? For me it is someone that steps forward and takes charge or maybe is just there helping those that need help and in that they lead those people. Leadership can be a very tricky thing in our society because there is so many different types of leaders.

Jehovah's Witness Founder, Charles Taze Russell

Tue, 13 Dec 2016 13:20:28 -0600

Questions and doubts swirl around this 19th century man. Modern "Witnesses" deny him altogether, but history is clear: Charles Taze Russell laid the groundwork for the cult known as "The Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society". That name, by the way, was the name Russell gave to the organization!

Cheering for Jesus

Tue, 13 Dec 2016 08:28:12 -0600

I hope that one day we can all stand with Paul and look back on our lives and shake our heads in wonder at how God was able to make a difference in the world through us.Maybe you're just as surprised as Paul and wonder how God can hit a clean shot with such crooked sticks like yourself and Paul. But if He could use a Christian killer so powerfully, nothing is impossible for Him. Remember: It is not from your own strength. It was not Paul's own strength that brought him there. It was God who did everything in and through him.

Jesus Cannot Be Boxed in

Mon, 12 Dec 2016 08:52:01 -0600

We serve an almighty God. A God who loves His children so much that He is prepared to sacrifice His life as God and King to become human, so that He could die on a cross for their sins. A God who could not be boxed in by death.

In Pursuit of Healing

Mon, 12 Dec 2016 08:49:49 -0600

The subject of healing has been one of the most hotly discussed subjects in the Christian community. Is healing for today or is it a dispensational issue? Has the reality of Biblical healing continued to transcend the generational boundaries? How did Jesus' ministry center around His miracles? What does the Bible really teach on this subject?

The Angels Of Provision Are Coming!

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 19:03:48 -0600

Just as I was wondering where all this money had come from, I heard the voice of the Lord say "Don't worry, it's yours!" It was then that my eyes were opened in the spirit to see numerous angels flying all over the city depositing large sums of money into the saints bank accounts.

Jesus and Expectations

Fri, 09 Dec 2016 14:54:28 -0600

Have you ever been in a situation where people did not live up to the hopes and expectations you had for them? If so, you can probably understand why John the Baptist was confused in the reading we heard from Matthew's Gospel.

Jesus Takes Our Punishment

Thu, 08 Dec 2016 08:27:53 -0600

This is what God did for us through Jesus. He allowed Jesus to die on the cross so that we didn't have to be punished for all the sins that we have committed. This summarises what we believe. This is all that we have to remember, just this: Jesus took our punishment.

Christmas and Christianity in Vietnam

Wed, 07 Dec 2016 07:11:42 -0600

Christianity has failed to become the world's universal religion but Christmas is well on the way to becoming a universal commercial festival. In Vietnam, a Communist country with a Buddhist traditional culture, Christianity is a minor residue of the French colonial era, but the shops sell Christmas trees, the sales staff wear little red Father Christmas hats and the background music includes crooning versions of Christmas carols. Businesses work hard to promote the event as a shopping bonanza even though the population at large is trying to save its money for the much more popular Tet holiday to follow in the new year.

Jesus Christ: His Intimidating Appearance

Tue, 06 Dec 2016 08:10:09 -0600

What image comes to your mind when hearing the name Jesus Christ? Some picture passive weakness. Others see those renowned images of a fair-haired, blue-eyed, feminine Anglo; images seemingly influenced by the illegitimate son of Pope Alexander VI, Cesare Borgia, a 16th century Spanish-Italian.

Mormon Polytheistic Theology by Any Other Name, Such As Deification, Is Equally Unchristian

Mon, 05 Dec 2016 13:17:44 -0600

William Shakespeare poetically said, "A rose by other name smells as sweet." The theme of this line from "Romeo and Juliet" can be applied differently to say that, Mormon polytheistic theology by any other name, such as "deification" proves to be as heretical and unchristian. For when did the Salt Lake City, Utah Mormon hierarchy begin using the term "deification" to apply to worthy Mormon elders becoming Mormon father-gods, with a capital G? Was the term "deification" used in the 19th and 20th Centuries to equate Mormon polytheism, or is it a 21st Century apologetic response to the Internet publication of the 1984 Melchizedek Priesthood Study Guide Lesson-21 "Man May Become Like God." Read on for an explication of this issue...

Witnesses - Really?

Mon, 05 Dec 2016 11:29:31 -0600

The nice, zealous, earnest folks that show up at your door from time to time may have a deficit or two. Are they really "Witnesses" of "Jehovah", or something else?

Love Never Ends

Mon, 05 Dec 2016 07:23:10 -0600

Maybe we should decide to let love live again. Maybe I should be the least and pour a little water on the roots of wilted love. Love will get up again! Love never dies!

Searching for Waldo

Mon, 05 Dec 2016 07:22:33 -0600

One of the things that I enjoy doing to watching people. Actually, what I do is play a little game. The object of my fantasy experiment is to guess if someone is a Christian or not. I know this might seems to border on judgment, but it is just a game with no ill intent.
