Fri, 11 Nov 2016 07:16:40 -0600A Hurricane is a rapidly rotating storm system with a low-pressure center and a collection of thunderstorms that bring high winds and heavy rain. Here is the story of how Hurricane Mathew, one of the deadliest storms in decades, developed and then tore through parts of the Caribbean and south-eastern USA.
Mon, 17 Oct 2016 07:00:02 -0500Throughout our lives we've heard that Mother Nature is in control of the weather, temperature and climate. Unfortunately, Mother Nature must be going through menopause and having some hot flashes now and again. What Mother Nature really needs is a good strong man to help balance her hormones out and provide her with companionship and love. This is my theory and before you criticize my theory, please note that Global Warming is still just a theory, as Global Warming Theory states; mankind's CO2 contributions are tipping the balance and causing cataclysmic climate heating of our Earth's Atmosphere.
Mon, 19 Sep 2016 11:33:52 -0500My family experienced a tragedy when a large powerful tornado came to their city. Texas and the Midwest are no strangers to dangerous weather and deadly tornados. If you are in a tornado, try to get underground in a shelter or at least cover your head and stay out of a car.
Mon, 08 Aug 2016 06:45:14 -0500Oh my gosh, there was a tornado in Oklahoma and one in Alabama too - must be global warming, the Cable TV News says. Oh really? Weather anomalies are common, there will always be untypical weather somewhere in the world on any given day. Why do the Global Warming Alarmist continue to exploit the news and misfortune of people who are caught in bad weather events? Well, I guess I blame the UN's International Panel on Climate Change and their well-oiled and well-funded PR campaigns, hijacking of academia and infiltration into our politics.
Thu, 09 Jun 2016 06:21:18 -0500The scene of Collaroy Beach that was heavily impacted by the ocean on June 5th 2016 has a message in it for the rest of Australia, if not the world. The waves were over 8 meters that slammed into the multi-million dollar homes built on the beach front. Now up to ten of them are dangling over the edge of the drop left behind due to the erosion that took away their yards and 150 meters of the beach.
Wed, 25 May 2016 15:07:48 -0500In this article, you will learn why, in some cases, people will get struck by lightning and not even feel it. The concept itself is quite interesting but very easy to understand. Get ready for a quick shock!!!
Mon, 11 Apr 2016 06:06:11 -0500Okay so today, I checked the weather, mind you it was raining outside and I pretty much knew today was shot for a long-distance bike ride. It was raining moderately, but the weather report said 82% of rain. WRONG! It is raining and last time I checked that would be a 100% chance of rain, not 82%. Why is this? How can this be with NASA, NOAA spending billions on satellites to give us accurate weather and forecasting? Everywhere we look we have instant information - about? - well, about nearly everything. In California we have Amber Alerts for missing or abducted children, we have news alerts anytime a politician puts their foot in their mouth or some worthless terrorist blows himself up somewhere in the world.
Wed, 09 Dec 2015 12:41:18 -0600This is a general article about lightning. Summarizing how a lighting strike happens and what lightning can cause.
Tue, 24 Nov 2015 07:48:36 -0600Severe storms are making it more and more relevant for survival kits and emergency preparedness plans. Texas and several other states have seen more than their share of disasters this month. These storms rushed across five states and left two others...
Fri, 13 Nov 2015 13:28:28 -0600Experts are forecasting possibly the biggest El Nino on record. We explain what this means to California and how residents can prepare.
Wed, 16 Sep 2015 06:23:15 -0500Have you ever heard an academic ridicule someone who didn't believe in Global Warming? I have, and I typically laugh back when someone pulls that motif with me. You see, I run a think tank, and we are not exactly scientific lightweights around here. Let's talk.
Fri, 05 Jun 2015 12:17:11 -0500The flooding in Texas last May 2015 caused towns and counties to be declared under state of disaster. The extent of damage to life and property has yet to be determined finally. Read some details about the calamitous event and also the possible option Texas State may consider investing upon.
Wed, 13 May 2015 06:10:42 -0500Climate realists have been accumulating stronger evidence, over the years, that the planet is cooling. Total ice mass has actually increased over the years. Mother Nature has been giving us hints that the planet is headed toward a colder climate. In fact, according to one astrophysicist who has accurately predicted long-range weather, Piers Corbyn of Weather Action, we already entered a mini ice age. Drastic global cooling has historically been disastrous for humanity.
Wed, 29 Apr 2015 07:03:54 -0500The continuing California drought caused so many unfortunate events unfolding in many towns and cities. Certainly, the people's lifestyle and productivity are greatly affected for lack of water. Read through the article and know the lessons one can learn from the drought in California.
Mon, 20 Apr 2015 09:28:49 -0500Weather conditions play an important part in our everyday lives. Whether we are off to work, wondering whether sailing conditions are good enough on the weekend or hoping to throw a garden party, the weather can make all the difference to our plans.
Tue, 31 Mar 2015 10:23:01 -0500Abnormalities and aberrations in weather conditions are becoming the norm as the average temperatures of the world continue to rise perennially. Just a couple of weeks back, while the world of cricket was busy celebrating its exclusive quadrennial event, "The World Cup" down under, the neighbouring archipelago Vanuatu in South Pacific Ocean was facing one of the deadliest tropical cyclones in history.
Fri, 27 Feb 2015 14:40:28 -0600It is now widely accepted that climate change is occurring but most people do not realise this is closely associated with overpopulation. With China, India and likely Africa industrialising in the future we must act now. But how?
Tue, 18 Nov 2014 04:50:17 -0600The other day I was talking with some global warming alarmists and someone said "The whole thing is hot air, it's BS." I laughed because there are times when I totally agree. You see, they've revised the data so many times before, there is NO credibility. In fact, Richard Muller (Professor Berkeley) showed the hockey stick graph was a lie. He was right, and the IPCC practically called him out on it, people came out of the woodwork to call him a traitor. Wow, talk about an authority driven primate politic play. Let's talk.
Fri, 18 Jul 2014 11:44:12 -0500Divine projects will always start like a little cloud, but will end up a rainstorm! True! When God wants to do any great thing, it always starts small and if you are not careful, you will be tempted to ignore, despise or even trample it. But we have long been warned not to despise the days of the little beginnings. In fact, Jesus summed it up by telling us about the mustard seed phenomenon in the kingdom, "though it is currently the smallest, but it will definitely grow into greatness, tall above others. And not just the growth, it will also serve as a shelter for so many". Now, I have a mandate to tell you that that project in your hands will grow beyond your wildest imagination. Yes, you're starting small, but look at it growing rapidly and overtaking others!
Fri, 27 Jun 2014 09:49:27 -0500There is definitely a power problem when extreme weather conditions are faced by the United States. This was the case last winter when extreme cold temperatures went on to highlight the vulnerability of power supply. Power outages are not rare in cases of snowstorm.
Mon, 16 Jun 2014 10:39:16 -0500People always talk about the weather. It's something that we all have to live with every day but have you ever wondered what makes it work? Why does it rain? What causes thunderstorms? How is fog formed? & what causes global warming?
Wed, 21 May 2014 13:18:19 -0500My home county in Arkansas was the scene of a devastating tornado in April. It reminded me of a night when I was a child.
Mon, 19 May 2014 14:29:38 -0500Global warming effects can be associated with the increase of the earth's ocean temperature, causing Arctic ice to melt, which, in turn, is modifying the formerly regular winter Jet Stream's wind patterns, producing unpredictable extreme warmth and cold winters. How this is happening? In this article, we will answer this question.
Mon, 12 May 2014 10:52:06 -0500You Are Not Safe From Flooding. Global Warming increased the severity of storms, inland flooding, torrential winds and winters normally kept on the Canadian side of the border. Humanity should have learned from the devastating property loss and loss of life from 2005 to present day.
Fri, 02 May 2014 11:33:04 -0500Climate change may be a worldwide problem, but in many ways America's mid-west is among the most vulnerable to economic fallout. Local polls indicate that Arizona citizens are already pushing state and federal governments to make changes. We need to equalize the cost structure and establish an economically practical resolution to the effects of global warming.
Wed, 23 Apr 2014 10:58:55 -0500Identify the three-stage effect of rural climate change. Climate change and the associated accumulation of global warming directly impacts rural economies and rural populations. According to the Rural Policy Research Institute, current and future climate change legislation will affect rural landscapes, rural prosperity and rural livelihoods.
Sat, 15 Mar 2014 09:05:03 -0500Living in an earthquake zone makes it even more important for you to be prepared and informed. There are certain steps you can take to help you and your loved ones keep safe and to try and minimize the risk for injury, damage or loss after an earthquake.
Mon, 24 Feb 2014 09:49:53 -0600Based on hard evidence and research, most of the population have now become aware of harmful Geo-Engineering. If you are not acknowledged with global warming and climate change, this article will guide you through. We need to reveal the truth once and for all.
Mon, 17 Feb 2014 14:21:43 -0600Ice can stick around for a while, and sometimes it's difficult to clear from sidewalks and driveways. When it snows heavily, followed by periods of melting and freezing, a thick layer of ice can develop.
Wed, 12 Feb 2014 13:00:40 -0600Reports from experts at the Mammal Society are suggesting that the reintroduction of beavers could help alleviate the flooding problems affecting parts of the UK. This follows a successful reintroduction in Scotland.
Mon, 10 Feb 2014 13:00:01 -0600Winter is a difficult season, but this year has been particularly hard. The Polar Vortex (parts 1,2, & 3) have caused many issues throughout the US and Canada. Most notable is the impact the below-freezing temperatures had intense snowstorms had on houses throughout the country. Frozen water has led to burst pipes and water damage repair in many areas.
Thu, 30 Jan 2014 11:45:05 -0600It's January in Minnesota and it's cold. Really cold. School is closed. Again. We're supposed to turn the thermostat down to conserve natural resources (really?). Well, the glass can either be half full or half empty, folks. Here is my attempt at the half full point of view.
Mon, 27 Jan 2014 08:47:25 -0600Snow is Estes Park, Colorado is strange and unusual. Learn the top five reasons why.
Mon, 20 Jan 2014 08:39:03 -0600The history making, record breaking Mother of all Weather Crisis is showing her ugly head. Drought tops our agenda and haunts our minds and outlook. The impact and cost will be felt around the world.
Tue, 07 Jan 2014 11:35:59 -0600A tropical species' advance is cited as evidence of a warming climate. And then the cold comes.
Tue, 10 Dec 2013 06:33:15 -0600It seems to be a monthly ritual, every time there is a severe weather event; a tornado breakout, a hurricane, typhoon, ice storm, or heat wave - some TV reporter will ask some so-called Global Warming expert if they think this has anything to do with human caused climate change. Yes, that is a loaded question, and of course the climate researcher has to say; "Absolutely!" otherwise he or she knows they won't get funding for the following year.
Thu, 05 Dec 2013 06:47:31 -0600Chances are good that your republican uncle reads information from websites like Ice Age Now, by Robert W. Felix; Weather Action, by Piers Corbyn; What's up With That, by Anthony Watts; and other similar websites. These websites are full of information, to include predictions that are in the process of happening. Before you bring up DNC's points, be prepared to discuss why there has been an absence in global warming despite continued CO2 rise.
Thu, 26 Sep 2013 08:06:27 -0500Have the post summertime blues? Here are three ways to appreciate the changing weather patterns brought by the fall season.
Wed, 18 Sep 2013 11:15:17 -0500Mark Twain, the famous American author, once said of the weather, "Everybody talks about it but nobody does anything about it." He was wrong, we have all pleaded with Mother Nature in some shape form or fashion for a sunny, rainy or snow day for whatever reason we choose.
Tue, 10 Sep 2013 06:10:39 -0500No academic is perfect, they are humans, so let's forgive them, but let's also save them from themselves and the so-called giants whose shoulders they claim to stand on, for those past period thinkers were also humans - see that point. Over the last few years, running a think tank, I've noted how many competing think tanks competing in the arena of ideas have gotten juice - funding and support from academia, governments, and nonprofits - all because they were willing to "go with the flow" with regards to Global Warming Theory.
Mon, 09 Sep 2013 15:36:27 -0500Can animals really predict the weather or is it all "wives-tales and folklore"? There are many observed characteristics among animals that seem to infer that they can actually predict impending bad weather. If you are not near a TV or radio to hear the upcoming weather predictions such as camping or in a survival situation some of these observations of animals might help you to know if bad weather is approaching.
Sun, 25 Aug 2013 17:53:12 -0500Solar scientists believe we are about to hit the peak of the solar maximum. In fact it could happen any time in the next few months, or at least that's what is predicted. Interestingly enough, we are also in the middle of an Atlantic Tropical Hurricane Season in 2013. Solar flares do affect the Earth's weather systems, as they compress the Earth's atmosphere. When you compress the atmosphere, and when there are hurricanes blowing in the Atlantic that affects the flow of the wind, and the pressure.
Thu, 01 Aug 2013 16:01:34 -0500Getting ready for Hurricane Season doesn't have to cost ridiculous amounts of money, nor do you need to build a fallout bunker to hide in for years. With the right checklist of essential supplies, you can ride out the storm and its aftermath with less stress and with a strategic advantage. Here is a list of 23 vital items that will help you be well-prepared for a disaster emergency - and it all starts with a relatively inexpensive thick-walled foam cooler.
Mon, 22 Jul 2013 10:57:23 -0500The author discusses heat rage, anger as a result of the current heat wave gripping the northeast. He also suggests simple tips in addition to the usual to keep cool.
Mon, 15 Jul 2013 11:53:22 -0500When the weather is hot and the skies are blue, it's tempting to spend a lot of time outside. However, you can suddenly start experiencing heat exhaustion and before you know it, find yourself in the hospital from a possible heat stroke. Find out how to avoid heat exhaustion.
Wed, 19 Jun 2013 12:47:25 -0500There are many consequences and challenges that come with the aftermath of a natural disaster. Security guards can offer a variety of services ad resources to help communities on the road to recovery.
Fri, 07 Jun 2013 16:18:08 -0500This article discusses a personal story of the damage inflicted by Hurricane Sandy on the small private community of Sea Gate, Brooklyn. Out of destruction, a hopeful way forward is forged.
Mon, 20 May 2013 11:22:16 -0500The climate of North West India is predominantly continental with cool winters and very hot summers. It also has a brief rainy season that lasts from July to September.
Fri, 26 Apr 2013 10:06:56 -0500Every year all over the world people drown simply because they stood too close to the ocean. They get snatched off the beach or a rock or reef and are suddenly in a life and death struggle. I hope to share some information about the ocean that if spread around could save someone's life.
Thu, 25 Apr 2013 07:28:44 -0500Human populations demand solid weather forecasting. They need to know exactly what they are up against especially during the Atlantic tropical hurricane season. Not only do they need to know the speed, direction, and likely point of landfall, but for them to prepare they need to know days in advance. They have to buy the boards to board up the windows, batten down the hatches, and get everyone to a safe haven. There's a lot that goes into forecasting the direction, path, and speed of hurricanes.
Fri, 19 Apr 2013 16:18:05 -0500Are you worried about the delivery of your packages to areas affected by Hurricane Sandy? Just how damaging was this storm and how much did it affect delivery services on the east coast?
Mon, 08 Apr 2013 08:14:55 -0500One thing I had learned while growing my business from a super small aircraft washing service into a national mobile car and truck washing franchise system is that regional variation is the key to success. Often when folks ask me for advice in the aircraft cleaning sector, car washing business, or truck wash industry I have to explain that much of my advice is specific to a given region and unless I know what region they reside I am bound to give the wrong advice, or at least less than optimal information.
Tue, 02 Apr 2013 11:01:04 -0500You may not know this or not but there is a solar twin peaking phenomena which happens during the solar maximum cycle of our sun. Just when you think the solar maximum is going great gangbusters it pulls back right in the middle, it makes you think that the peak is over with but it's not, it's getting ready to peak again. In fact, it sometimes throws people off guard, but it is quite common, so it shouldn't throw anyone off at all.
Tue, 02 Apr 2013 08:16:43 -0500Not long ago, I was watching a doom and gloom global warming alarmist docudrama on TV. The premise was that a 150 square miles area of very warm water, extremely hot, that is ocean surface temps, would be enough to cause a Mega Hurricane or Typhoon. In fact, it would be well above the Saffir-Simpson Scale. The commentary discussion which followed called this a Hyper-Hurricane. Interestingly enough, I do believe this is possible, and I'm pretty certain that the supercomputer artificially intelligent weather prediction programs are correct.
Wed, 27 Mar 2013 08:01:52 -0500It has often been said by weather reporters and the National Weather Service that hot ocean surface temperatures are like jet fuel for hurricanes. Indeed, I think everyone now knows that when the water temperature is warm and it is hurricane season, if a hurricane does form it will be deadlier. Have you ever wondered why this is? It is an interesting phenomenon and I'd like to explain it to you if you have a few moments, seeing as that hurricane season is rapidly approaching.
Mon, 18 Mar 2013 14:40:28 -0500Current climate activity is behaving in lock step with solar sunspot activity. So far, the current solar cycle is performing weaker than the previous two cycles. The last times a solar cycle behaved similar to this one was prior to the Dalton and Maunder Minimums. Together, they form the period we label as "The Mini Ice Age." Both history and science point to us entering a very cold period in our near future. There continues to be no global warming after the 1998 El Nino Peak. Meanwhile, more places around the world have already experienced mini ice age like winters. Little known to most people is that the deep freeze of 2012 claimed more than 650 lives. It's time that we embrace the facts and accept what we're really going to be facing in our future.
Mon, 18 Feb 2013 15:17:54 -0600London, the most beautiful city of the UK has an even beautiful climate. With cool winters and very mild summers, it has become an ideal tourist resort. Following is a brief sketch of its major climatic features i.e., Temperature and Precipitation.
Mon, 18 Feb 2013 14:07:20 -0600Berlin, the capital of Germany, is situated in the heart of Europe. The moderating influence of the North Atlantic does not reach this station. Consequently it has extremes in its summer and winter temperatures.
Mon, 11 Feb 2013 15:06:07 -0600There are many things we can call the snowstorm that slammed into the Northeast last Friday. Whether you call it a nor'easter, a Miller B, or a cartoon fish, last weekend's storm was one more in a long line.
Tue, 05 Feb 2013 08:09:57 -0600Just like the Arab Spring comes every year so too does Tornado season. If you happen to live in an area which has been nicknamed; Tornado Alley, then perhaps you want to stand up and take notice, this is the season not to be jolly, but rather to be prepared. That might include not living in a "Tornado Magnet" or rather a trailer home as they call them in the Southern part of the US. If you do you should have a plan to get out, and go somewhere safe, preferably underground until after the storm.
Sat, 02 Feb 2013 05:59:02 -0600The cold weather affects everyone to one degree or another. Houses need to have the heating on more and put up their draught excluders to make sure they don't let in chilly draughts to their home. Cars need to have snow preparedness kits to help people cope with getting out in the mornings if it snows, and schools need to make sure students can make it in or they need to close, no one thinks of the workmen who must work outdoors regardless of the weather however.
Mon, 21 Jan 2013 12:52:03 -0600I started spending at least one season each year working on projects in the tropics a decade or so ago. Aiming for the dry season there usually means heading South in November after a long cool summer in the Pacific Northwest..
Fri, 18 Jan 2013 11:42:14 -0600Turn your office igloo in a place of happy warmth and productivity. Of course, this means you may need to go shopping.
Mon, 14 Jan 2013 10:34:36 -0600Every year, people brace themselves with the arrival of the hurricane season. Since, damage caused by hurricanes is a common phenomenon.
Fri, 11 Jan 2013 11:45:28 -0600The colours of the rainbow are amazing, but in Autumn, the countless shades of brown or yellow colours light up the trees. The dazzling array of colours including yellow, brown, light and dark auburn, red or even burnt orange taint the landscape.
Tue, 08 Jan 2013 05:59:01 -0600This passing Christmas travel has been largely affected by the severe flooding taken place around the UK. With saturated ground proving a stimulus for high levels of flooding and landslides, according to the Daily Mail, over 394 flood warnings and alerts were given in December.
Wed, 02 Jan 2013 08:16:08 -0600All too often people explain unusual weather anomalies from a divine intervention perspective, or blame the weather on global warming. It would be wise to learn more about the weather here on Earth so you don't fall victim to this sort of rhetoric. Once you understand the weather, you can better plan your personal activities and protect yourself from the full power of Mother Nature's little surprises.
Mon, 31 Dec 2012 15:40:59 -0600Thunderstorms and the sound of lightening can be a huge worry for many people every year. Use the tips here to stay safe and endure the worst of any storm safely.
Wed, 19 Dec 2012 10:18:21 -0600After the cancellation of the New York City Marathon in 2012, many runners volunteered to help others in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. This gives us reason to wonder, why do we often often wait for a crisis or disaster to help our fellow humans?
Wed, 19 Dec 2012 08:45:52 -0600Hurricane Sandy hit New York with devastating consequences and left the City with a less than pleasant aftermath. The hurricane killed a lot of people and also left raw sewage, industrial chemicals and floating debris which filled flooded waterways.
Fri, 07 Dec 2012 10:45:39 -0600Clearing snow with a shovel is hard physical work. It can burn an impressive number of calories yet the risks of physical injury should not be under-estimated. Warming up, cooling down and using the right snow-clearing equipment, like rock salt and a lightweight snow shovel, can make all the difference.
Fri, 07 Dec 2012 10:18:03 -0600Have you ever wondered about snow, how white it is and how unique? I think we all have and that's what this is about - the pure white of snow and what it represents from an eternal point of view when it comes to God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. You've probably already guessed this is not about Snow White and the seven dwarfs. This is about that pesky stuff that accumulates on your windshield so you have to scrape it off. It is the same stuff that can be dangerous when you're in a snowstorm such as a white-out. Or it can be something that is so pristine when the sun shines just right on an extremely cold morning; seeing the crystals as the sun reflects on the fresh bed of snow while your feet crunch onto that bed, magnifying the sounds a thousand fold. You feel the cold temperatures, see the glistening flakes shimmering in the light and it takes your breath away. It's a unique experience and in an instant, it's gone.
Thu, 15 Nov 2012 10:01:19 -0600You've just been through a hurricane. Your preparedness education paid off and the family is safe. But now what? How do you deal with loss of power, food shortages, or water shortages? Just how do you start to rebuild and get life back to normal? Here's how:
Fri, 09 Nov 2012 11:50:35 -0600The roads are perilously dangerous when winter hits. There are many reasons that someone could become trapped while travelling or injure themselves because of the ice, so how can you stay safe?
Fri, 09 Nov 2012 11:49:56 -0600Snow can be a right pain when is settles on your driveway and could even stop you from being able to park in it. How can you effectively get rid of this snow?
Wed, 31 Oct 2012 08:49:58 -0500Having traveled quite a bit, I've been caught in some hell raising storms in my life. I've been in hurricanes, watched tornadoes go by, and been in incredible dust storms, blizzards, and even narrowly escaped a wildfire with my life. It's really hard to explain these things to other people because it's hard to put into words how insane things can get on the surface of this planet. Perhaps this is why not everyone cares to evacuate when they are told a big storm is coming.
Tue, 30 Oct 2012 15:06:46 -0500When I lived in the English Lake district I thought that the weather was relatively similar throughout the UK, however when I moved away in my early twenties I realised that there were significant differences between regions in the UK. Here we explore how deep those variances really are by comparing one of the honeypot areas in the Northern Lakes, Keswick with the capital, London.
Tue, 30 Oct 2012 07:49:02 -0500We've known ever since the days of Benjamin Franklin that it takes about 3-days for the weather or storms out West to reach areas like Philadelphia and Washington DC in the Eastern part of the US. Today, we track these storms and this weather with pretty decent precision thanks to our computer modeling. We know how the jet stream moves, the seasonal changes, the effect of urban heat islands, El Nino, La Nina, Santa Ana Easterly winds in California, and how the weather changes due to Hurricanes, and northern blasts of frigid air.
Mon, 29 Oct 2012 15:16:07 -0500Before Hurricane Sandy hit the flooding was already intensive. A friend of mine in Atlantic City, NJ sent me pictures of the flooding. The storm waves and rain had already inundated the place with excessive water and the flooding was to continue. There was nowhere for all that water to go. He sent me that picture at 11 AM Pacific Time, but the storm wasn't supposed to hit until 7 PM that night, with it bringing its peak storm surge.
Thu, 11 Oct 2012 13:27:36 -0500The increased numbers of butterflies seen around in the latter part of the summer have an impact on our weather according to folklore. Whether you believe the Farmer's Almanac, the Weather Network or a government organization like Environment Canada, they all seem to be saying the same thing is in store for those of us that live surrounded by the Great Lakes. Lots of snow this coming winter. I think my mom was right about the butterflies...
Fri, 14 Sep 2012 15:25:21 -0500A barometer is one of the devices that are important for use in meteorology. It is used in the measurement of the atmospheric pressure. The observation of the air pressure tendencies can be important in the forecast of the weather changes.
Sat, 08 Sep 2012 18:05:08 -0500Over the years, I've read as many research papers as possible on the topic of evaporation. It appears to me that the droplet size on ocean wavelets has a lot to do with how much water is taken up by the clouds. When the wavelet droplets are just the proper size due to the heat of the water surface temperature, humidity in the atmosphere, and air pressure huge amounts of water are sucked up into the clouds.
Mon, 13 Aug 2012 12:49:26 -0500It's hard to use supercomputers to predict the weather, and although we've spent an incredible amount of money trying to model the weather, and Los Alamos has done some very interesting work with artificial weather grids and wind flow through canyons, we still aren't there yet. Might I suggest some other strategies for predicting the Weather?
Fri, 10 Aug 2012 15:55:22 -0500Flooding in the Philippines has been one perennial problem. AsI was reading this commentary online, while sipping brewed coffee in my room, I guess I am one of the few lucky ones, who lives in the metro, that remained free of flood waters. The subdivision developer on where I live had the foresight of elevating the entire five acre subdivision by a few meters from the national road. In addition, the subdivision management prescribed a building ordinance years ago, that the house foundation of all residential units, be raised bt around one meter above street level. When my parents constructed the family's residential bungalow, they complained of the added cost of having to elevate the entire structure. There was no flooding in the area forty years ago, and they did not understand why the need to elevate. But that foresight by the developer, help saved this entire community from the onslaught of floods, that came several years after.

Evacuation when recommended is the best thing for citizens to do. When you evacuate you go to somewhere safe, and you return when things in your town are up and running.
Tue, 24 Jul 2012 07:39:29 -0500We all know that wind chill factors are a reality to survivability in extremely cold climates, but have you ever considered that there is a point at which the wind no longer decreases the "feel" of the temperature, and starts to increase it? I call this the furnace effect, perhaps someone needs to create a temperature table or indices for this measurement? Currently, living in a resort desert town, it is quite obvious the difference between hot days, super-hot days, and similar conditions under wind or high humidity.
