Road to 160 day 1

Wed, 30 Sep 2009 02:54:00 +0000

Summary:

Breakfast: OJ, water
Lunch: Large soup, 1/2 ham/brie/tomatoe wrap
Snack: Clif bar
Dinner: Homemade soba/chicken teriyaki (wicked salty, see pic), 1 mega man vitamin, 1 1200 mg fish oil tablet.
Snacks: 2 apples, 2 cups grapes, 2 cups mixed greens, like 10 almonds, 1/4 cup of dave's kaiyaki

Workout:
11 sets of:
21 pushups
16 abs
25 squats
14 curls (21ish lbs)

100 jumping jacks afterwards.

Time 26 min + ~1 min JJ's + 8 min stretch = 35 min

So yea, today I decided to make it my goal to get to 160 lbs by the end of October, and decided to use this blog thing that I haven't updated in a looong time to track it. Right now I'm at like 154 pounds. I weighed myself after lunch and was a pound heavier, so I guess I will say 154 is the official weight. Probably more like 153. But anyways, I'll also probably look into setting up a google spreadsheet to track the workouts. We shall see how it goes. I'll also follow a general version of The Zone diet, which seems to work decently well when I actually followed it.

Going to also follow my half ass version of crossfit. Right now I just do core stuff: pushups, abs, squats, and curls. Unfortunately I don't have easy access to a pull up bar. I will reinstall the elastic door gym thingy soon though to get a more overall body workout. The jumping jacks are for my calfs and shins. I'm also going to try to total the overall time spent working out, since I abhor going to the gym and the whole concept of taking time to workout, but hey, you have to do it to be healthy.

More details on these things later. PS I bought the MAGIC BULLET, and hopefully it will make eating fruit a bit easier while on the go. I already made almond butter and 3 smoothies. Right now, since this is semi last-minute, I'm scrambling to get my diet in order...I'm planning on hitting the supermarket tomorrow.

PPS Also thinking about tracking the amount of time I spend blogging to, which is 7 minutes for this post =P

total workout time: 35 min
total time for this project: 52 minutes

Partially Moving/FOOD FOOD FOOD

Tue, 17 Feb 2009 15:44:00 +0000

Hello people, so my roommate invited me to become a guest writer on the website he's been working on, the seasoned noob, so a lot of the food-related posts will end up there. Please add it to the reading list!

As for me, I've been up to the same. I'm trying to help organize foodie outings in the Boston area...let me know if you want in! It's pretty much gonna consist of really exploring different cuisines, going to "best ____" (pizza, dumplings, etc) restaurants, whether it's a dingy hole in the wall or a high class restaurant. follow where the food is! I think the first is going to be Taiwanese because I've never REALLY explored it, and there's a place to where I live =D

Yea, I accidentally posted a couple of videos on this blog, but it was meant for the other blog! Anyways, you can follow me in the separate blog: frankindia.blogspot.com.

One of the best purchases i've ever made..

Sat, 14 Jun 2008 06:04:00 +0000

i'm pretty sure I only paid like $60 for them, and they were from amazon, not J & R... but here it is: Sennheiser HD-280 Professional Headphones. I can do nothing but listen to music for hours. Yea, so reviews said you hear everything with these headphones--quite literally. I guess that's why they are used for studios. But isn't that how music is supposed to be listened to? Or at least how the author wanted them to be listened to?

3G iPhone!

Mon, 09 Jun 2008 19:10:00 +0000

Finally!

www.apple.com/store

July 11th. At the lowest price point ($200 for 8GB), it's really hard NOT to buy one if you can afford the $60 a month (and you're not stuck in a contract). Quick cap: GPS (should have traffic updates too), Software Apps, plus all of the original iPhone stuff, 3G, decent battery life.

Barring any major screwups that could possibly happen, I will be getting one.

Blackwhat?

Cooking Pictures

Tue, 03 Jun 2008 02:47:00 +0000

I finally uploaded the pictures queued up in my memory card. Then Aperture decided to crash and mess up my whole library =( so now my pics are all unorganized. The more I think about it, the more I think Aperture sucks (though I still don't fully know how to use it). Anyways, here are a few pics of some of the dishes I cooked the past few weeks.

Authenticity killed the cat

Mon, 02 Jun 2008 17:46:00 +0000

I've always wondered what people actually mean when they refer to one particular dish as being "authentic". I've one had somebody tell me the most authentic tiramisu was from HK. How does that work? Nothing against HK of course, but how is that possible? You would naturally think that Italy has the most authentic, right? Mayhaps. Then I started to think about the person who said it. How would this person even know what authentic meant? What is authentic tiramisu? Lady fingers? Less brandy, more brandy? Maybe the person just doesn't like "authentic" tiramisu. Maybe it's too sweet for their tastes, but maybe it's supposed to be sweet. This is why I've really strayed away from describing food as "authentic", but it is such a relative word. Tenderness of pasta could be "authentic" in northern Italy, but totally not "authentic" in southern. Crab rangoons are not authentic Chinese, but isn't it considered authentic Americanized Chinese food? Food is either good, or not good. Very rarely is it authentic, unless you are talking about a very specific region of a country, but even then, how would you know unless you've lived there?

chowhound + yelp + google maps = BAD

Fri, 30 May 2008 15:15:00 +0000

This is what I mean. I got the idea from the roommate. It's a work in progress, of course, but daaaamn I've been to lots of places. I've gone through Medford/Somerville pretty thoroughly, and added EVERY place I've been to. Cambridge is pretty thorough too. Hopefully this will help indecisiveness when trying to find a place to go.
