New listings Tomorrow on Etsy and Ebay

2009-10-24T00:03:54.187-07:00

Hi all..
So sorry it's been so long since I last posted on my blog.
I've been busy (looking for work and trying to get back in the swing of things).

Life hasn't been easy these last four and half months but I'm hoping it will get better.
As someone once said

"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass". It's about learning to dance in the rain.

I found some time to sculpt again and have a few jointed dolls that I'll be listing on Etsy and on Ebay. Now I'm not saying that I'll be making a ton of Dolls but I'll try to sneek some in from time to time.
After my life gets back to a normal, I'll be making more than my fair share of dolls.
But for now, Please checkout my listings tomorrow ngiht on Etsy and Ebay!

Blessings all!

Magic Jack, Does it work??

2009-09-13T00:32:06.265-07:00

Have any of you wonder about the " Magic Jack "?
Well wonder no more because I can tell you.

I have one and It works well.
You will need a computer and internet service in order for it to work.

Just plug your Magic Jack into a USB port on your computer and follow the registration process.

At that point you will get to pick your Area Code for your magic Jack and I believe you will be able to pick the first three numbers of your phone number as well.

After that is done, you can plug your phone right up to it.. I use my cordless phone with my Magic Jack.
I've taken my cordless phone outside while in use and it still works as it should just like any other landline phone.

Oh and just a note I don't have to worry about a monthly phone bill...
I paid $40.00 for the Magic Jack and that includes the years service.

Once a year I have to pay $20.00 for another years service.

Yippee!!!
Nooooooo Phone bill!!!

So if anyone of you on the fence about getting one, I'd say try it and if you don't Love it you can always take it back to the store where you bought it for a full refund.

My mom and brothers are using the Magic Jack as well since I told them about it. They LOVE IT AS WELL.

My brother (Robert) also bought one for his daughter, now she is has her own Phone.

Not a blonde

2009-09-06T17:03:22.671-07:00

Have you ever thought about changing your hair color?
Well I have and did just that.

What a nightmare that ended up being!
I went from blonde to dark brown hair in about 20 minutes. What a shocked that was and wasted no time in calling my Mom. After all she is a beautician and I thought she could fix my mess.
I only wanted to blend the roots in with the rest of my hair. I was born a blonde and always thought I'd always be a blonde but the color in the box had other Ideas.
I went with the lightest Golden Brown dye and my hair turned a very dark brown.

My Mom and worked on my hair for about 3 hours trying to killed the dark brown color without damaging it anymore than it already was.

Needless to say It didn't help.

Sorry for not blogging

2009-11-30T12:14:13.331-08:00

So sorry I haven't been able to blog this last month or so.

I left my husband and I'm filing for a Divorce.

I was a faithful and a very devoted wife for 8 years. I really wanted the marriage to work and beileve if I tried hard enough ,it would.

But as I've come to realize it couldn't be onesided and Now I know it always has been.

"Me" always trying to keep us together at all cost, even if it meant losing myself in that process.

"Me" always trying to pay for "other people sins" through our marriage.
Other people sins as in, his ex-wife cheated on him and so I had to deal with that on a daily basis.

"Me" always having to hear "If you don't like it theres the door" atleast twice a week for 8 years.

"Me" always having to hear "Tell your boyfriend he'd better be gone before I get home" and I heard this almost everyday for the last 8 years. Or "have you been hanging out with your boyfriend"?

"Him" always trying to control me. At one point he had went as far as to tell me what time I had to go to bed and lights were out at that time.

Oh and I could go on and on but I will not because this isn't a bashing contest.

Now please don't take this wrong but When our marriage was good it was great but when it was bad it was just down right rotten.

In this last month so many things have been said by him that were VERY Untrue and so very hurtful.

I never been called all those hurtful curse words in my whole life until now.
You know they say words can never hurt you but they are wrong, they do cut deep within the heart.
I never even thought of calling him any names and nor would I... I'm not into belittling someone I loved with ugly curse words, really shows no respect once this is done.

You know you can't take them back after they been said.. It's not like you can say, Can I have that "B" word back and I also take that "H" word back as well.

Just so everyone knows,I don't wish him any ill will now or ever. I hopes he lives a happy and long life. I know he deserves to be happy and I'll be praying that he'll have prosperous and blissful life!

And with that said Please bare with me as I try to pick up the pieces.

Dress from scraps

2009-08-05T17:36:06.157-07:00

Here's a dress that I'm working for my Granddaughter.
I still have to make my button holes and sew on my buttons
other than that it's all finished.

It was created from the leftovers of this bright and wild scrap vintage fabric I had.
I already had the new Black fabric and just need something to go with it.
In total I would theres less than 1/4 of the scrap fabric and 1/2 yard of the black fabric. Size 2t
I used a pattern for this dress and didn't really like it that much so I changed it up and Now It looks great.

Our neighbor commited suicide last night

2009-08-05T17:36:33.108-07:00

Our neighbor commited suicide last night. He was 75 years old.

I tried to speak to him every day but missed yesterday and Sunday because of Easter. ( I was gone for Easter.)
I did however speak to him on Saturday and it was pretty much the same conversation that we would have every day.
He talked about how lonely he was and that his wife died 5 years ago.
(He never got over her death).

He kept telling me, He thought his golden years would be great but it wasn't at all how he had planned it for all those years.

He said he had envision his life with his wife in his golden years. He spoke about all the money he had made and was going to use it to pay a nice retirement home when he couldn't care for his self any more.

I just kept telling him things would get better and that the Devil was just working overtime right now but to give God a Chance to work now.
I told him God wasn't ready for him because his work here on earth wasn't done.

He then said he didn't think it would ever be better.

So this morning I'm beating myself up over this.
I'm asking myself again could I have done something differently?
This is second person to commit suicide sense My ex-brother in Law
"Rick" hung his self 21 years ago.
Suicide is permanent solution to a temporary problem.

I don't believe anyone that commits suicide thinks about the ones they leave behind and how hard it is on their family & friends.

Shopping with my Son - Memories

2009-08-05T17:37:56.941-07:00

Good Morning

It's Tuesday the 23rd and Christmas is fast approaching.
I'm done with all my Christmas shopping and hope everybody is too.
I haven't had time to finish any dolls these last few days. My poor Reindeer is just setting waiting on Santa.
Just so much going and this time of year..

I went Christmas shopping with my Son "Joshua" on Sat. and it was a Mad house! It took us 20 minutes to get out of the Wal-Mart parking lot.

My son is just a bit on the hot headed side and it was showing.
He pulled out in the middle of traffic and said hold on Mom, "We were going over it or through the cars" along with a few expletives.. (he thinks his big ole four wheel drive can jump and dodge cars) just because it a dodge...lol

Oh my goodness, all I could say to my son is...
" I really Love the Idea of breathing"....
In fact I love to "inhale and exhale" air in and out of my lungs,
That really gets me going..
That really thrills me"....
My son gave me a laugh and said Mom your Funny...
Thanks goodness I made it back home in one piece because I was bit worried there for a minute.
I love my son but I'm glad that doesn't happen everyday.
Heck, I don't even drink but that would drive me to drink...lol

The whole time all this was going on all I could think about was that commercial where the lady is talking about her daughters birthday party going awry and then she said "Memories"...lol
And now I can say that as well..... "Memories"...rofl

Who needs glasses?

2009-08-05T17:38:11.843-07:00

Hi Ya'll.

I ask you... Who needs glasses? Well, Maybe "Me"..

I've been having a bit of trouble seeing things up close.
Letters are running together and getting fuzzy.
Paint colors are running together as well, I couldn't tell brown from black..

I've been thinking maybe it's just eye strain
after all I do a lot of small work, as in "painting", "doll making", "sculpting" and of course "sewing".
Oh and lets not forget those silly headaches that I've been having off and on. Seems the only way those headaches will go away is to close my eyes, as in "Rest my eyes"..

My Daughter "Julia" who is just the sweetest kid, told me last night... "Mom, you're just getting old".. Boy, she is really to kind.. wouldn't you say? lol
Then I replied, why do eyes have to be the first thing to go? Who said you have to get let your eyes go too? After all, Is it written somewhere that I'm not aware of? Is it a rule, I ask you?? lol ....

I believe someone didn't have the right answer so they said it's because "you're old" and that person Okay, sounds good to me..lol And wouldn't you know they have been selling it ever since then...lol

Well there will be no more wondering for me because I have an appointment with the eye Doctor this morning. I'm sure it can't be that bad after all.. I have/had 20/20 vision up until now..
Julia, again Is so nice... She told me it's not the end of the world if I had to have glasses, no one would call me names or make fun of me...rofl I told her I wasn't worried about that, I'm worried about whats next....lol

I'll post later on today and let everybody know If glasses are going to be apart of my every day life.. Joy, Oh joy!...

Blessings, Mae

Have you seen the movie Bordertown?

2009-08-05T17:38:41.413-07:00

Time to talk about something other than dolls for just a few minutes.

Here I gooooo, getting on my Soap box.

I never have enough time to watch a whole Movie but I did tonight, which is very uncommon for me.
The movie of the night was "Bordertown"...
The movie was base on a true story by Babrbara Jitner
www.usd.edu/ctrcivic/flyers/jitner.pdf

Oh my.. Where in the world Have I been living, Under a rock? You know I heard about the missing women and murders in Juarez, Mexico back in 2005 or 2006 but I thought they caught the people that did this.
I guess I was wrong to think that because women are still missings and being murdered there.

My heart goes out to all the Families that have lived the nightmare of having a loved one murdered. That is truly be beyond my thought process, and I pray I never know that kind of pain.

http://thejuarezproject.com

At least here we have a Justices system weather some believe it works as it should or not. We still have it!

Oh and lets not forget about the "free trade agreement" with Mexico. I know that Mexico makes products cheaper than we can but I didn't really know at what cost until I did some reading and here is just some of that article..

Wages are so inadequate that most workers cannot afford to their own vehicles. The Maquiladoras provide free buses to transport their Mexican workers from various parts of the city. The workers earned an average of $5 - $7 dollars a day.

Since 2000, more than 5000 mostly US-owned assembly-line factories in Mexico had moved to China. In Juarez, a beginning machine operator earns less than $8 a day, whereas the counterpart worker in China makes only $2 a day!

AlliedSignal's Top executive, Lawrence Bossidy, personally took home a bigger paycheck than the company's entire Mexican workforce. He made 6,765 times as much as the average maquiladora worker -- and 1,000 times more than the average US factory worker.

Wow, How bout that "free trade agreement"! The rich get richer and the poor just poorer.
I think I'll be watching what I buy a little closer now like I did in the 90s.

What is your Definition of a Doll?

2008-03-13T02:39:38.762-07:00

Being that I'm a doll maker of sorts.
Here is a question I ask myself all most every day.
What is your Definition of a Doll?
What's a Doll?

Is a doll something that makes you smile on the inside as well as the outside?

I ask myself "should a doll have moveable parts in order to be called a doll"?

Should a doll be able to be played with "gently" and take you back in time?

I know you all know what I'm talking about, Like a baby doll.
When I say the word doll thats what pops into my mind.

The last six months I've made some dolls that couldn't be removed from their wooden base and the only part of them that moved was their arms.
Not sure I would call it a doll but there are really no words for them other than "whatnot" or"knickknack"

So I would like to know What is your Definition of a Doll?

I've been working my fingers to the bone. I've been sculpting, sewing, wood carving, and doing wood work.

As a matter-of-fact, I cut my finger with the saw.. Thank Goodness it was only my hand saw but it got my attention when I seen blood. Thank God I didn't have to go to the hospital,(Woo Hoo only one band aid, this time)lol. I could just see me telling the Doctor what I was doing and the Doctor looking at me like I was crazy...lol
From now on I'll keep telling myself cut the wood not my finger, and don't hit the wrong nail...lol

So...

I made my first little chair from wood then covered it in foam and fabric. What a hoot that was. I really enjoyed it and will be making a few more. The chair I made will be up for auction along with a "lady" that is setting in it. The lady is made from fabric and clay. She is really something, A real looker...lol You all will see very soon.

I made the "Duchess" from Alice in wonderland and will be listing her on e-bay real soon. She was so much fun to make!

The last doll I've been working on is an Asian doll. This was a first for me and will not be my last.. Not sure if I'll list her on e-bay, my website or just keep her.

My Mom had some Asian Dolls when I was little kid and believe it or not I gave them to her. I had found them buried in some burlap in the ground. They were dirty little dollies but Mom cleaned them up nicely. She had them for about 10 years until her ex husband took all of her possessions (other than her clothes). Mom and I just loved those Asian dolls.

I'll try to post some pictures of the dolls I've been working on real soon.. So check back later on today.
