It is exciting Jen and lots to do...yikes! It is a large space and with all the old shelving etc out when the deal closed, it looked HUGE inside.

Christiane, thanks for the support. I do flip between excitement and terror, but I'm sure that will pass. :)

Thank you Rhonda. The colours found in drying fish is amazing. And knowing that the tradition is still alive, even if on a much smaller scale, is a good thing.

Interesting and beautiful.

The pastel scene seemed a bit insipid at first, but then the contrasts kicked in. Yes, there are so many boats propped up by a wing and a prayer I wonder how a stiff breeze doesn't send them toppling over!

very nice light colours :) even tho the boat is just docked there it has a sense of movement to it, probably the angle it is leaning at, like it is about to fall.:)

You are very fortunate to live so close to the ocean, that ever changing source of inspiration.

I cannot say that I like cold weather and especially icy weather. I hibernate in the studio when it happens.

Freezing rain and ice are not my friends. I've fallen too many times on ice to want to do it again, so I stay inside where possible when the weather's like that.

Spring comes in fits and starts and more often than not moves directly into summer and skips it entirely!

Gorgeous photos and great painting start :). I love seeing ice over trees, etc. but hate to drive or travel in it. Glad you can stay in and paint the beauty of it all. Hope you get spring soon, though!!

yeah anything bigger than A3 I have to take a photo of, but don't tend to work bigger than that even with etchings because I m a slow artist lol

Thanks Jen. Algae is so very a vivid green. I could become obsessed with it. :)

Scanners work beautifully and give nice bright images but only my sketches will fit on my scanner bed now. I only use RAW for the final shots of a painting, as the files are so large.

captured the green algae/moss colour very well :)

I use to shoot in RAW, but now most of the stuff I do fits the scanner

The largest I've painted was 48" x 48" and it paints a lot faster than you'd think. Now everything I do looks weeny. :) Supersizing any subject brings a new set of problems to solve.

possibly 40x40 0.o pretty big lol I have canvases that size behind the couch but the size makes me think twice about painting on them and have no idea what I would paint on them anyway

The landscape here is similar to Cornwall or Scotland. Lots of rocks!

I'm thinking of a minimum of 24 x 24 but may go to a 40" x 40". I have to love it enough to go there.

lovely calming look to it from the water but then you have these really sharp and dangerous looking rocks :) how big are you thinking of painting this?

Perhaps one day Jo, but meanwhile a photo is the next best thing (and a lot warmer!)
