♥ Waffle at The Owls Cafe, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur

2017-03-09T22:41:03.062+08:00

The Owls Cafe。 Special affogato。点了这个 纯粹只为了拍照,因为那装着浓咖啡的猫头鹰小杯实在太可爱了。冰淇淋是vanilla口味的。Rose latte。每次来都点这个,因为喜欢那淡淡的玫瑰味。拉铁也不会太甜。Rebecca waffle。来这cafe基本上都是因为冲着这个而来的。因为他们家的waffle软硬度刚刚好。外层有点酥里层比较软,整体的口感很好。尤其搭配着新鲜的草莓水果等,还有那很香的earl grey冰淇淋,很好吃。还有另一点我很喜欢的是他们加了一些椰丝,配着waffle吃起来味道还蛮特别的。Peach tea。点这个也只是为了拍照,因为这猫头鹰茶壶杯子太可爱了。下次来 也许会试试brunch。[...]

♥ Boat Noodles at Noodle Doodle Thai Restaurant, New World Park, Georgetown, Penang

2015-07-29T16:45:52.345+08:00

Here comes another new boat noodle restaurant in town, named "Noodle Doodle Thai Restaurant". Noodle Doodle is located in New World Park, a modern food centre (foodcourt) in Georgetown. This boat noodle restaurant is clean and quite spacious, with simple interior design. The menu or food choices, however, quite limited. We ordered only a drink, two bowls of thai style pork noodles and a side dish, tofu-tofu-tofu.Something special (RM 6.90), is their house specialthy drink. It is lime juice with mint leaves. Quite a good drink to quench thirst and very refreshing, although the price is on the high side. Tofu-tofu-tofu (RM 3.90). Deep fried tofu topped with three flavoured chilli sauce and cucumber slices. Surprisingly tastes very good and not too spicy for a person who can't take spicy foods. The deep fried tofu absords the chilli sauce, and when you bite it burts into your mouth. Boat noodle (soup), RM 1.90 per bowl. It is thai style pork noodle. Soup is quite herbaceous, and we like its overall combination with the addition of kangkung/ water spinach. Portion wise, really small. Boat noodle (dry), RM 1.90 per bowl. Also a thai style pork noodle. Also quite good although lack of the taste of herbs. If to compare this boat noodle to the boat noodle served by others famous boat noodle restaurants, we personally prefer this type of boat noodles (flavour and taste),**Date of visit: 26 December 2014****Images taken with Nikon D3200**[...]

♥ Lee Jetty 姓李桥 at Weld Quay, Georgetown, Penang

2015-07-21T20:55:02.685+08:00

Among the six clan jetties in Penang, Chew Jetty is the most tourist-friendly jetty and by far the largest. The popularity of this jetty grew after Ernest painted a mural (depicting a boy and a girl on a boat) on the side of one of the wooden stilt house. Chew Jetty also being featured in one of the famous local movie "Ice Kacang Puppy Love" which directed by Ah Niu. Besides Chew Jetty, there are other clan jetties situated along Weld Quay which worth a visit. One of the jetty which caught our attention was Lee Jetty, especially the view of this jetty at night when lanterns and colour LED lights lit up. (Lee Jetty is relatively new and established in late 19th century.) Here we would like to share some of the photos taken during our visit. **Images taken with Nikon D3200.** [...]

♥ Kong Thai Lai Coffee Shop 广泰来茶室 at Hutton Lane, Georgetown, Penang.

2015-04-04T23:25:07.533+08:00

(image)

Roti Kahwin。

♥ Hill top at Jalan Tun Sardon, Balik Pulau, Georgetown, Penang.

2015-01-19T22:09:00.216+08:00

[Photography/Travel]There are a few places in Balik Pulau where you can actually enjoy the spectacular view of Penang island or watch beautiful sunset. One of the hill top is located at Jalan Tun Sardon and there is one restaurant named BP Anjung Indah Thai Seafood Restaurant. You can search for this restaurant in google maps/ waze/ gps to reach here. There are also fruits (not to forget to mention Balik Pulau is famous for durian!) and snack stall. A number of park benches are available for visitors too.Quite an ideal place for phototaking. Will drop by here again to catch sunset and maybe.... Thai seafood dinner.[...]

♥ Saanen Dairy Goat Farm at Balik Pulau, Georgetown, Penang.

2015-01-16T22:28:19.824+08:00

Date: 29 December 2013 and 6 October 2014Balik Pulau, another fascinating town in Penang, is a great place where you can escape from the hustle and bustle of Penang city life. Besides scrumptious foods (such as laksa, pasembur, brown sugar bun, durian, fruits and etc) and breathtaking sights along the driving journey, there are many other interesting attractions such as Ghee Hup Nutmeg Factory, fruit farms, Saanen Dairy Goat Farm, waterfall and Hakka Lodge, which worth a visit. We will write about the places mentioned above in separate post and this post will be all about Saanen Diary Goat Farm. Saanen Dairy Goat Farm, owned by Mr. Ho Juan Aun, is located at 298 Mukim 1, Sungai Pinang, 11010 Balik Pulau, Pulau Pinang.Once you reached Saanen Diary Goat Farm, you will see these two wooden pavilion on the left. This is the place where you can sit down and take a break after an exhausting and fun visit to the goat farm. Here you can try their fresh goat milk and yogurt for free. They are selling goat milk pudding, steamed bun and handmade soap as well. The size of the goat farm where they accomodate the goats is only the size as shown in the picture below. Not a big one but big enough for kids and family. There is no entrance fee and the owner provides grass for you to feed the goats. We couldn't ask for more. We, as an adult, had a lot of fun feeding the goat. So, we believe the kids are going to have more fun and excited about it.You will have the chance to hug and take a close shot with the baby goats if you happen to meet a few that success to escape from the stables. We are lucky during our visit. Besides, you can also purchase goat milk to feed the baby goats. This will be another good experience.More potrait of goats. Even goats can have many face expression. One of the lovely picture that we would like to share. The love bonds. This is our first time visiting a goat farm and it is really an impressive one. Other than goat farm, there are also rabbits and puppies in the farm. They have a vegetable farm as well. We will pay another visit to Saanen Dairy Goat Farm very soon. Again..... :) When is your turn?[...]

♥ Bear paw bun at 熊鱼食Kumamono, Queensbay Mall, Georgetown, Penang.

2015-01-13T13:31:59.456+08:00

Date: 26 December 2014Calling all the bear paw bun fans. Kumamono finally has their first outlet now in Penang, located at Queensbay Mall. For your information, they have another two outlets in Malaysia located at Sungei Wang Plaza, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.Kumanono had launched its official opening on 25th of December 2014. We were lucky enough to drop by the next day when we go for window shopping in Queensbay Mall. It is located at LG-87A in Queensbay Mall at the opposite of Jusco. It is situated next to Kenny Rogers and Taste Better, so in case you can't find it in the directory board you can search for these two shops. Only three super value combos are available:Combo 1: Kuma's chicken + coca cola + curry fish ball/ cheezy wedges (RM 10.90)Combo 2: Karage crispy chicken/ spicy chicken + coca cola + curry fish ball/ cheezy wedges (RM 13.90)Combo 3: Oishii fish fillet + coca cola + curry fish ball/ cheezy wedges (RM 13.90)If you don't want to opt for combo value set, you can order only the KumaBun. How to make your order?Step 1: Select your favorite KumaBun: Milk/ Brown sugar/ Whole GrainStep 2: Select your choice of meat: Kuma's chicken/ Karage crispy chicken/ Karage spicy chicken/ Oishii fish filletStep 3: Select a sauce: Tarta sauce/ cheese sauce/ sesame sauce/ black pepper sauceThen, you are done! You can also order side orders or drinks at your own preference. All the prices are stated and shown below. We ordered a combo 3, oishii fish fillet with brown sugar KumaBun and cheese sauce. As for the side order, we decided to go for curry fish ball instead of cheezy wedges. They steamed the KumaBun and fried the fish fillet only after we placed the order. And so some waiting time is expected but we like it this way. The brown sugar KumaBun is really soft and filled with brown sugar aroma. We are so in love with this bun. Look at the generous amount of cheese sauce. It goes super well with brown sugar KumaBun and fish fillet. The oishii fish fillet, however, a little bit crispy at the outside and tender in the inside. It would be perfect if the outer crispy skin isn't too oily. But in overall, we still like this and will definitely come back for more. The curry fish balls are not too spicy. However, they are not as bouncy as what we expected. Before we left, the staff informed us that there will be new flavor of KumaBun, such as yam and strawberry KumaBun launch in the future. And we also received a 20% discount voucher for our next purchase, valid until 15/1/2015. So kind of him.Total damage: RM 13.90. A very pleasant dining experience. Not to forget to mention, seats are very limited. Hence, the concept of Kumamono more for take aways order. [...]

♥ Ah Leng Char Koay Teow 亞龍炒粿條 at Jalan Dato Keramat, Georgetown, Penang.

2015-01-11T00:11:14.757+08:00

Date: 27 December 2014Finally get the chance to drop by Restaurant Tong Hooi to try one of the famous char koay teow in Georgetown Penang, Ah Leng Char Koay Teow, also known as 亞龍炒粿條. Ah Leng Char Kuey Teow was previously located at Khoon Hiang Cafe and now they had moved to Restaurant Tong Hooi (Jalan Dato Keramat, Penang) at the opposite.Ah Leng is famoust for their special char koay teow which comes with big prawns and mantis prawns at price RM 11.50. The price for a regular char koay teow with no mantis prawn is RM 7. For extra koay teow or duck egg (instead of chicken egg), you will have to pay additional RM 0.50 or RM 1.00, respectively.  During our visit, the restaurant is packed with customers (mostly tourists). We ordered only a regular char koay teow with duck egg (RM 7.50). In addition to duck egg, chives and bean sprouts, there are only a few cockles (siham) and two big prawns. The char koay teow is a bit oily and slightly salty, but acceptable. The prawns are fresh and succulent. Cockles however small, too little and not impressive. Portion of the char koay teow is rather small. Although the wok hei is also not up to our expectation, but in overall Ah Leng char koay teow is considered quite good. Should have pay another visit at off-peak times when there is less crowd.[...]

♥ 2014 Christmas decoration at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Selangor

2014-12-20T00:34:43.068+08:00

Year-end is approaching and Christmas is just around the corner. What do you like about Christmas? As for us, Christmas decorations are one of the thing that makes us love this joyous festive season. We enjoy seeing different theme of Christmas decorations adorning the shopping malls. The Christmas trees, the twinkle lights, the colourful ornaments, etc. This year, 1 Utama Shopping Centre is the first mall that we head over and their Christmas decorations are of theme "Rustic Woodland". All those adorable furry friends are going to light up the kids for sure. Pictures tell thousand words. Enjoy. Cheers.[...]

♥ Camera Museum at Lebuh Muntri, Georgetown, Penang

2014-11-03T18:48:20.612+08:00

The Camera Museum in Georgeotown, is the first camera museum in South East Asia. It is located at Lebuh Muntri in a refurbished double storey shop house. We would say this is a must-visit-museum especially for those who has got keen interest in photography or camera. Our very first visit to Camera Museum was last year mid-August, before the museum started its operation on 31st August 2013 and before its official opening on 9th October 2013. Then, we paid our second visit in November 2013 and third visit in July 2014. We personally like this place very much and each time there is something new in their exhibition space for us to explore .. Photography is allowed in here. You can also leave any message, comment or sign in the guest book. And of course I did. As you enter into the reception hall, there are murals and a spiral staircase on your right. The staircase is named "The Staircase to Nowhere", inviting people of high curiosity to climb up the staircase and see what is up there. Just go ahead, climb and figure it out. Don't worry, it's curious baby-friendly. To keep the fun going, we will not reveal the truth here :pThe ticket booth for the museum upstairs is on your left. The entrance fee of Camera Museum is RM20 for adult and RM10 for both students and senior citizens. After the reception hall is the exhibition space. Some of the decorations you can find at ground floor. After the exhibition space is the souvenir shop and a coffee place at the back. The cafe is named Double Exposure. Now let's move on to the camera museum upstairs. The camera museum upstairs is divided into 6 sections. During our visit, there is only five of us. A helpful tour guide was tagged along to give us the introduction of cameras, to tell us the evolution of cameras, and any questions from the visitors is welcomed. The first section or the main hall displays the collection of cameras starting from eighteenth century from all over the world. Lego digital camera from Japan.Kodak Disc 4000 and the Kodak colour print film. And there are many other collection of cameras which I don't know. It was really exciting to see all these cameras on display. We also get the chance to handle the actual antique cameras at the center booth. The camera which looked like a speaker to me -. - Vintage cameras that combined with the cartoon theme like Bugs Bunny, Spiderman, Barbie etc.Super large and bulky cameras. The camera lucida. It consists of only a simple prism and lens that allow an artist to see the scene they depicting superimposed over the paper that they are drawing on, so that they can simply trace around the image. The stereo camera. Do you know that the 3D photography has existed since 150 years ago? This surprised us. It was also exciting that we get the chance to explore the viewers, glass films and photos here. The second room of camera museum upstairs is the Obscura Room. Here is where you can understand the image forming principles. This wooden obscura camera was introduced in the seventeenth century. It is an optical device that projects an image of its surrounding on a screen. This was one of the inventions that led to photography and the camera. Here you can experience how to use this device. The third section is the Unique Collection Room, also called The Spy Room. This room was closed during our visit. Hence, we had no chance to discover what is inside. The fourth section is the history of camera illustrated timeline on the wall. The fifth section is the Dark Room. The tour guide will explain to you the whole film transformation process. The last section is the Pinhole Room. Again, we had no chance to visit this room because the staff locked it sharp at 6 pm. This actually disappointed us. Here's a good piece of art you can see when you exi[...]

♥ 3D Murals of Artsphere 20/8ty at The Atmosphere, Seri Kembangan, Selangor

2014-10-29T22:41:21.067+08:00

Back in January 2014, after an exciting visit to Farm In The City located at Seri Kembangan, we then let the excitement continues into murals exploration at The Atmosphere. (Address: Jalan Atmosphere Utama 1, Pusat Perniagaan The Atmosphere, 43300 Seri Kembangan)Can you imagine how cool is that in just one location, there is a collection of total 80 pieces of 3D mural artworks? These 80 pieces of mural are of theme "Artsphere 20/8ty", painted by 20 talented artists. The mural artworks are located at both ground floor and upper floor of The Atmosphere. The location map of all the mural artwork is provided for your ease of mural search. The murals are either painted on the floor, wall or pillar. We managed to hunt for all the 80 murals within 2 hours and this is actually a bit exceeded our expectation. One little accomplishment that is worthwhile because we like each of the mural artwork. In this blog post, we will only share some of the mural artworks as it is impossible for us to share more than 80 photos here. To view all the mural artworks, please drop by our Facebook page's photo album. Roti Uncle.Selling drink uncle.Kid sitting on books.Elephant.Need for art and wind.Staircase.Emergency exit at toilet.Kid with balloon in pink background.Jatuh la jatuh. Mini car.3 robots. 2 girls with jumping rope. ♥ Purrfect Cat Cafe at Muntri Street, Georgetown, Penang

2014-10-22T00:26:35.073+08:00

Purrfect Cat Cafe, the first cat cafe in Penang, is located at Muntri Street and situated next to Camera Museum. Although I'm not a cat person, but it is okay to visit a cat cafe. Some of the cute cat murals that you can find at the cafe facade. "All are welcome but no doggies allow".Purrfect Cat Cafe sells cat related merchandizes at the ground floor. All the things are cat-related, such as tees, keychains, postcards, hats, mugs, bags, pillows, soft toys, etc.Unique cat-themed wall design and decorations at the ground floor. Full of post-it sticky notes. On the other hands, the second floor (the upstairs) is divided into two separate zones, the cat zones and the cafe area that is cat-free. You will be briefed on house rules and you have to wash and sanitize your hands before you can take off your shoes and heading on upstairs.Even the floor carpet is in the shape of cat. There are around nine simple house rules to follow. Do not break the rules or you will be fined. RM 100.Foods and drinks are allowed inside the cat zone, but you cannot feed the cats with any sort of foods. Inside the cat zone, you are also free to interact with all the cats, but you cannot carry them around. At present, they have a total of 8 cats in the cat society: Orange, Marble, Molly, Snowy, Nala, Teddy, Leo and Bear. Not sure if these are Leo, Marble or Molly?Okay, this one I can confirm it is Bear with unique dark grey fur.Teddy. Laying comfortably on the orange foldable chair. Too adorable, too furry and the kimono can only cover half of its body. I can't resist to take many photos of it although it don't really bother me -.-Orange. Super cute and chubby too. Snowy, the mascot for the cafe, also the first cat to reside in the cafe. It has a special pair of David Bowie-mismatched eyes. Oops, this is just a toy cat. Now let's move to the cat-free cafe area. Full of cat-related decorations. Seats are quite limited with cute cat cushions. And we were lucky enough to be served to sit at this awesome and comfortable corner. Purrfect Cat Cafe serves only simple food and drink. Coffee, teas, cold drinks, small selection of pastries and cakes. During our visit, we did not order any food and drink from the menu. We were here to spend our purchased deal from Groupon, a high tea set which includes a slice of cake or one pastry and two glasses of fruit champagne.Oreo mille crepe (RM 11.90 value). Not an impressive one. Lacks of oreo taste. But a thumb up to the food presentation. In overall, we still spent a good time in Purrfect Cat Cafe although both the mille crepe and fruit champagne weren't up to the expectation. An exciting experience and this is my first time interacting with so many cats. To play with a cat seems simple at first glance, but in fact it is a bit difficult and I failed to spark their interest to play with me. #sweatBow before your queen. If not you will knock your head. Have a nice day! [...]

♥ Winter Warmers Coffee and Tea House at Georgetown, Penang

2014-08-10T01:18:08.343+08:00

Winter Warmers Coffee and Tea House is well-known for their Afternoon Tea. Other than that, they also serve a wide range of tea (iced fruit tea, hot milk tea and herbal tea), Italian coffee and flavoured coffee (rose coffee, green tea coffee, chocolate mint coffee, lavender coffee, etc), western delight, pasta, Belgian waffles, sandwiches and desserts. They have now a total of seven branches: six in Penang and one in Selangor (The Curve). So far we only been to their outlet in Gurney Plaza and Queensbay Mall. Both outlet with relaxing and tranquil atmosphere, making it a favourite place for breakfast, lunch, high tea or dinner. Their table setting is another thing that worth a mention, classisc and unique. Flora table cloth is used and they have many distinctive design of tea cups. Winter Warmers at Gurney Plaza....Our first visit to Winter Warmers in year 2012 (for dinner). It was exactly two years ago and now their menu has changed into a new one haha. Iced mixed fruit tea (RM11.90). Served chilled in a small jug and it is one of the house specialty. Slices of fruit such as orange, apple and lemon are added into the tea. Fruit can definitely jazz up any iced tea and this is doubtedlessly one great cold, refreshing drink. Not too sweet. However, the amount of ice cubes is a bit too much and the tea get diluted over time.Jasmine freeze tea (RM 7.90).As for this drink we don't remember how it exactly tastes like.Fettuccine carbonara (RM 14.90).Fettuccine is not over-cooked and we like this al dente pasta texture. The carbonara sauce is creamy but not cheesy. Overall, it tastes average to us. Grilled dory fish (RM 16.90).Better than the fettuccine carbonara. The dory fish is grilled to light brown, then topped with creamy sauce. Fine texture and light flavour. Cold twisty curvy pasta salad and potato cubes are served as side. Overall, it tastes good. Winter Warmers at Queensbay Mall. Our most recent visit to Winter Warmers in July 2014. Now they have a brand new design of menu. And we just realized they also offer set lunch. Hence, we decided to give a try. Each set comes with a salad, a main course and  a beverage. You may also add on RM 4.50 for any of their cake of the day or cheese cake. For the beverage of first set lunch, we opted for their original Green tea. They have a total of five different green tea for you to choose from: moonlight roses, gunpowder, sweet osmanthus, orchid garden and jasmine paradise. We decided to go for the first one.Moonlight roses greentea (RM 6.90).An excellent home blends tea creates its sweet and aromatic flavour. A pot of tea with hint of floral flavor and great source of anti-oxidants. The rose fragrance is subtle and the taste is mild. An edible flower floats on top makes a darling decorative touch. For second set of lunch, we added RM 1 to change the black tea or green tea to other hot beverage.Kenya tea latte (RM 7.00).An elegant and lifely taste of tea with fresh milk makes it a perfect tea. I never heard of Kenya tea or coffee until I read a book by 九把刀 Giddens Ko, 等一个人咖啡 (cafe..waiting..love). This then peaked my curiousity and interest to give a try on Kenya tea latte. And for your information, most tea produced in Kenya is black tea. This Kenya tea latte can be considered as one of the best tea latte I ever had. Smooth and aromatic. Thumbs up. Kenya tea makes good latte. The appetizer - Salads. Fresh vegetables served with in house dressing. Very good. One of the main course, seafood spaghetti with white sauce (RM 22.90).Normal spaghetti with generous amout of seafood such as mussels, prawn, squid and scallops. The[...]

♥ Waffles at Brown Pocket Cafe, Gurney Paragon Mall, Georgetown, Penang.

2014-08-03T22:35:22.862+08:00

♥ Lunch date at Coffee Chemistry Signature, Subang Jaya, Selangor

2014-07-15T13:34:14.213+08:00

A lunch date at Coffee Chemistry Signature. Also my first date with the newly bought Nikon DSLR :) Coffee Chemistry Signature is not just a coffee cafe, they do serve Asian-Western fusion cuisines. We kind of like the simple settings of this cafe, it gives a very comfortable atmosphere. Each table is adorned with a potted flower centerpiece.Rose caramel macchiato 3D (RM 12.90). According to the tips left on Foursquare, this is one of the popular drink in Coffee Chemistry Signature. Probably due to the adorable 3D art. And so..... I placed an order for this drink and it took awhile for the drink to be served. Doubtlessly the 3D bear foam is pretty darn cute, but this is not my favourite macchiato. This coffee is mouthfeel smooth though, not too sweet, not bitter. But the combination of flavour with notes of rose and caramel just simply do not tickle the taste buds of mine.Passion fruits smoothies (RM 12.90). Smooth and thick. Dan's all-time-favourite. Healthy, filling and refreshing. A tangy treat right for any time of the day.Carbonara beef bacon mushroom pasta (RM 16).A fabulous carbonara pasta. Creamy and cheesy, with lots of bacon and mushrooms. Thumbs up.Escalope of chicken with mango chutney (RM20).Quite a thin piece of chicken escalope and crunchy. People like me who do not fond of the texture of bland chicken breast find this chicken escalope pleasing, especially with the mango chutney (good balance of sweet and sour). An appetizing dish. An escalope is a piece of boneless meat that has been thinned out (source from Wikepedia).Apart from this satisfying lunch, we are amused by some of the built in scene mode in the newly bought DSLR, especially the food scene mode and monochrome picture control. It is nice to be able to shoot in black and white from DSLR directly.Life is wonderful, accompanied by good foods and companion, families and friends. I'm blessed. And glad that we can have at least some of the beautiful life moment captured on camera. Moment that lasts forever.Support and like our Facebook page for more updates. ♥[...]

2014-07-05T00:56:35.784+08:00

Most of the people do not know there is one KTM railway station stationed at Mentakab (Pahang) and named after the town of Mentakab. It is one of the major stations of KTM's East Cost Line. Mentakab railway station is small and seems abandoned. The new Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) is built with bigger capacity and superior facilities to replace the LCCT. The main entrance at Level 3, the departure hall and retail stores.Check in counters.Be sure to reach there early because you really need a longer walking time to your boarding gates. You will definitely need more than 10 minutes. KLIA2 is really huge. The design of female washroom. It is clean. When we are on our way to the international departure gate. A long long long long way to go. And you will walk towards and cross the Skybridge.Still long way to walk. And we have plenty of time, so we take our own sweet time to have fun and to explore KLIA2. Nice corridor.  Then, we get down to Level 2 to get to boarding gates. There are retails shops and F&B outlets for you to shop and chill.Very big passenger seating area. Impressive. There is this "Ask Me" service everywhere. Do not hesitate to ask if you have any enquries. Some photo session before we go through the customs and to the boarding gate.View from the Skybridge and some view of the aerobridge. Can't wait for my next trip in July. ♥ Afternoon High Tea at Tokyo Pastry, Kota Damansara

2014-05-24T00:35:21.598+08:00

Our first afternoon high tea at Tokyo Pastry. Address: No.2A-1, Jalan PJY 5/9, Dataran Sunway, Kota Damansara.Doubtedlessly a classy European style cafe with calm and cosy ambiance, offering a wide varieties of pastries, cakes and desserts (all looks fabulous and tempting). To our surprise it is not a Japanese style cafe and bakery shop. Seats are quite limited though. Our afternoon high tea set for 2 pax on a 3 tier stand. The top most tier came with chococlate flavoured hokkaido chiffon cupcakes and a slice of sesame cake with macaron. Cupcake was not a fluffy one and the cream did not taste good. Sesame cake was too dry and not fresh. The macaron was too sweet to our liking. Melon buns, hokkaido cupcake (again) and swiss rolls on the middle tier. For your information, melon bun, also known as melonpan, is a type of sweet bun from Japan. It wasn't melon flavoured, slightly dry at the outer layer (like cookies crust) but soft and moist on the inside with cream as a filling. We like these melon buns and they weren't too sweet. Swiss roll was just an oridnary swiss roll, nothing too great. The lowest tier consisted of deep fried chicken wings and sandwiches. Nothing too great. Tea was good (at least it was Dilmah tea). Overall, it wasn't a good afternoon high tea experience as the foods weren't as good as we expected and we had to wait for more than an hour to be given a seat. Sigh.[...]

2014-04-13T22:33:44.586+08:00

Ernest Zacharevic, a young Lithuanian artist, is well-known for his uniquely beautiful street arts/ murals in historical Georgetown. To view his street arts, you can visit our previous blog post at  ♥ Georgetown, Penang Street Art/ Mural Painting (by Ernest Zacharevic). Feeling blessed that we managed to pay a visit to his first ever solo show called "Art is Rubbish/ Rubbish is Art". This show (free admissions) was held at the Old Hin Company Bus Depot from 18 January to 14 February 2014.And we were really excited that we finally get to see Ernest Zach in person . Same goes to the knife holding by the Lego robber. Ernest and his friend putting effort to fix them.More good pieces of artworks. The murals. One of my favorite Ernest's artwork. There is the other similar one near 32 At The Mansion. Go and hunt for it. Last but not least, Ernest Zacharevic's signature. We really enjoyed this awesome exhibit. The entrance fees / the ticket prices are RM 25 for adult and RM 15 for child. No special price for student.  The ticket. So cute and I'm using it now as bookmark :)One of the entrance which directs you to the gadgets expo and you need the ticket to enter. There is another entrance at the opposite site where you can gain free access to the merchandise shop, game area and Doraemon Cafe.Very cute Doraemon wall paper. This Doraemon exhibition has a different sections or activities for you to immerse yourself in the world of Doraemon. 1) The first section of the expo - the Doraemon time machine. Are you ready to travel in a tunnel of space-time together with the Doraemon?   2) The second section where you can witness the birth of Doraemon. Do you know that Doraemon was originally yellow in colour? If you are interested, you can see the pictures below and read the story.3) The 100 Doraemon figures with 100 different gadgets. ♥ Super Char Siew Tonkotsu at Goku Raku Ramen, Georgetown, Penang

2014-03-20T22:25:21.223+08:00

Goku Raku Ramen which located at Gurney Paragon serves really awesome ramen delights with rich and flavourful soup. Speaking of the restaurant interior design and environment, it has a very simple decoration (just like any other Japanese restaurants) with wooden chairs and tables, but cozy enough for you to dine in to fix your ramen crave. For your information, Goku Raku Ramen serves two different types of soup base, namely Tonkotsu and Tokyo. Tonkotsu soup is a pork flavour soup whereas Tokyo is chicken flavour. Then for each of this soup base, you can choose your favourite from original soup, miso or shoyu soup. Both the soup is finely cooked for long hours over high heat and carefully stirred to enrich the broth aroma. Super Char Siew Tonkotsu (original/miso/shoyu); Price: RM22.90(S), R26.90 (M), RM27.90 (L)During our visit, we opted for super char siew tonkotsu and we chosen miso tonkotsu soup instead of original tonkotsu or shoyu tonkotsu soup. It is a ramen topped with homemade char siew, spring onion, bamboo shoot and lava egg. We ordered a small one for the price of RM22.90. The portion is okay only for a small bowl of ramen, so you should order at least the medium or large bowl of ramen if you are a big eater. The miso tonkotsu soup is really thick, creamy and flavourful. The best ramen soup we ever had. The homemade char siew is not sweet like other char siew you have outside. It is with mild saltiness, so tender that it can melt in your mouth the moment it touches your tongue. The same goes to the lava egg. The egg white is solid and the egg yolk is soft and runny. It is so delicious. Your ramen is incomplete without this lava egg. As for the ramen (the noodles), thick and slightly springy.Ebi Gyoza; Price: RM 10.90 (5pcs), RM15.90 (8 pcs)It is a pan-fried shrimp, pork lard and chives dumpling. A rather unique combination, not too oily and a bit similar to Taiwanese guo tie. It is served together with a special sauce and salt & pepper. For the sauce, it tastes like sweet soy sauce. On the other hand, for the salt & pepper, it is slightly salty. To our surprise, it tastes really good when you eat the dumpling together with it rather than with the sweet soy sauce. As for the filling of dumpling, we expected more filling but in overall it is still acceptable. The prawn is fresh. This restaurant is highly recommended for all ramen lovers.[...]
