Well said. I'm not sure that people would behave better with-out religion, but they certainly couldn't behave any worse, on the whole.

Very interesting story. I don't comment much, as your ramblings and rumblings usually leave me with a need to digest it for a bit, but I do love your writings.
Just a nod of praise and thanks.
Do go on...

Gerry, love the blog and your work. Do you or would you be interested in being a guest at a convention? I'd love to have you out to a show but don't have good contact info for you! Thanks!

Hope you eventually get to the Olympus Has Fallen Big Dumb Movie post.

I was looking at The Midnight Dancers the other night, a novel I read when I was about fifteen.

And you wrote, I calculate, when you were nineteen. Sheesh, you were precocious!

Just discovered your blog although I have been a fan since your Spider-man days and loved LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Gerry. Huge fan of yours. My indoctrination to comics was ASM 121 and 122. I was 7 at the time, and have not looked back since.
Anyway, in regard to your blog, I have to disagree a bit. I am not a theologian, but I'd have to say that few people really believe that bad things happen for reasons that are somehow tied into the greater good. Rather, they are the price we pay for the

Gerry:

That was LOW!

Great intro and in the last words to be written today, the cliff-hanger!

Now, the long wait for the next chapter...

Cheers

I've never been to LA, so this comment takes a hell of a nerve, but I think you'll find another terrific '70s Private-Eye time machine in Hickey and Boggs starring I Spy's Robert Culp (who also directed, his only feature helming job) and Bill Cosby.

It's a terrific "fin de siecle" noir private eye flick, the sunset of the hardboiled Hollywood

Eloquently expressed, and exactly true. I have followed a similar arc. Now find myself spending more time and effort on Yi Soon Shin comics than is feasible from a financial point of view, so it's more like a hobby, and infinitely more satisfying to me. Damn, Gerry, you say stuff so well, you should be a writer!

This was actually a stunt to promote a reality TV competition, looking for an unknown to star in a new production of The Sound Of Music.
Really well done, though, and if real life were only more like this...

It seems to me network television primetime shows, especially dramas, have over the past 15 or so years been developing in ways that are at war with the basic economics of the industry. Shows like Star Trek and Bonanza basically set up a status quo and had the basic premise play out episode after episode. Character development per se was discouraged. Each episode was self contained and rarely was

Given the time frame, he may also know you created the Punisher. Who knows, maybe he'll call you for advice on gun control. :)

That is hysterical! I have a nine year old and a two year old. The video was a brilliant representation of that age. Too funny!

It does seem that every reference I've seen to Obama's comic book preferences traces back to one article in the Daily Telegraph:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/barackobama/article3401168.ece

I've never seen the Spider-Man and Conan the Barbarian part independently confirmed

An excellent analysis.

A few years ago, Stephen King had a column in Entertainment Weekly in which he suggested that the writers of Lost wrap up the series and let it come to a natural end. This was before ABC actually agreed to let the writers do this, and the writers explained to King that the realities of network television might not let them do as he suggested.

Yeah, that got me thinking myself,..
I'm sorta stuck right now with ideas for a new song for our band,
and that seems to be a familar
area!
Dont ask me why, but reading some
of the old Spectacular Spider Man
comics from the late 80s that you wrote seem to give me ideas. Last month, it gave me a little guitar solo!
Maybe its the way you wrote MJ,hmmmm...

Interesting, I've never been to New York but hope to sometime in my life.
I'm 17, and dont read as many comics as I used to, but I remember
the stigma New York had on me in the Spider man comics your wrote in
the late 80s.

I follow politics out of general
interest.
