The Miss ng - Obsession LP 90

A month ago on a repost I saw a very old request for this so I seeked it out recently and have to thank the requestor as it is a very cool album.  See comments for more details on the band.

The Weirdos - Destroy All Music 7 and Demos 77 w We Got The Neutron Bomb 7 78 w Who? What? When? Where? Why? MLP 79 w The Hideout 7 80 w Condor LP and Demos 90

One of the smart early punk bands from Los Angeles.  2003, the year I lived/worked in Los Angeles and got to see all my old favorite bands they played an incredible show with the Diffs and the Skulls opening for them.  My buddy from MN chose that weekend to visit me and we grabbed a gal each and put them on our shoulders and chicken fought each other in the pit while they played one of my favorite songs, Solitary Confinement which is included here.  Bomp! label has a great colored vinyl release out of the early stuff to look for so snatch it up if you see it!

VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR - Repeat Performance LP 80

SEARCH ABOVE FOR MORE and ADD ON:  Found this nice comprehensive release the other day that has one or two previously ripped tunes I did before but also some rare singles and songs from releases I haven't found yet.  Enjoy!

This band had the hit song 'British Hustle' on the K-tel early dance music/hit parade/'missing link' as I called it U.K. comp.

VA - Mar Y Sol 2LP 72

Since we had the 1972 Stax double compilation last week how about another from the same year with more great bands including:  J. Geils Band, The Mahavishnu Orchestra With John McLaughlin, Dr. John, B.B. King, Osibisa, Cactus, The Allman Brothers Band, Emerson, Lake And Palmer, Nitzinger, Jonathan Edwards, John Baldry and Herbie Mann.

ISOTOPE - Illusion LP 74

I had the title and band name reversed on this post yesterday, thanks for correcting and here is the fixed file for redownload.

ILLUSION - Out Of The Mist LP 77

REPOST w NEW BETTER RIP:  Well I think I can finally lay this one in the trade pile.  Per above, not the 80's band nor the sixties Pink Floyd type band with 'the' in front who rock very well.

VA - It's Too Damn Loud CD 09

Thought I would get some more modern metal into the mix and from MN features bands:  CWN ANNWN, Hate Beast, Cold Colours, Maitiera, Risingfall, Far Forbidden, Under Eden, Blue Felix, Now Until The Hour, Shadowcraft, We Are Legion, Quazar and Seventh Calling.

Honky Tonk Ragtime Blow Out Post, includes: Honky-Tonk Piano - Mickey Finn And Big Tiny Little w Pianola Pete And His Honky Tonk Rag Pickers LP w The Crazy Guy - Honky Tonk Piano LP w VA - 26 Non Stop Sing Along Honky Tonk (K-Tel) Lp 71 w RAGTIME JUGSTOMPERS - Dave Van Ronk LP

REPOST and ADD ON:  The Mickey Finn is actually a cassette to address the comment but that comment got ME interested in exploring this early pub music.  Sorry no lyric book for the K-tel.  Actually this piano music is in my blood from an early age as our family of ten always went either Shakey's Pizza Parlor or Ciscero's Pizza Parlor both with auto play pianos while you ate.Mickey Finn: Sing Along: Pete (couple of songs cut up bad): Joe:[...]

SWIZ - No Punches Pulled includes Down EP 87 w st LP 88 w Hell Yes I Cheated LP 90

POST Request:  See D.C. compilation below for who requested, not sure where I got this but thanks!

SALEM 66 - st EP 84 w A Ripping Spin LP 85 w Frequency And Urgency LP 87 w National Disasters, National Treasures LP 88

REPOST Request:  What are they fortune tellers, how did they know I would be giving them a 'ripping spin'....little blogger humor there sorry.  Here is what I wrote before:  Since we've had some recent Homestead label interest (yeah I like it too and posted my favorites long ago) here is a band that I think is a top ten for me for lyrical content...checking in with me through a time tunnel to see that I made it O.K. and am prospering---ahhh yeah, that is cool!!!  Full of nice surprises that I just can't remember today as it's late at work and my brain is fried.

REPOST Request:  I put that they are from Canada because the requestor is from there and I don't know anything about this tell if you know.

VA - Odd Man Out 7 88

REPOST Request:  Thanks to JayIRC for this great comp!  Cover reminds me of that great 90's band 'My Name' which I just got the second album again and am working on getting the third for first post.  Bands from D.C. on this comp include (also I found SWIZ from D.C. made in same request for this from encpunk so he is to thank for this repost and bringing to light the location of it, Hanx mate!): Government Issue, Fun Junkies, Black Market Baby, M.F.D. and Shudder To Think.

UNITS - Warm Moving Bodies 7 79 w High Pressure Days 7 79 w Digital Stimulation LP 80 w New Way To Move EP 83 w History Of The Units Early Years 77-83 09

REPOST Request:  O.K. O.K. now here is the definitive download to replace the recent posts, I found the album rip (thanks to Bernando!) and cut all the 'dead air time' out of it as we all don't have time for that nowadays AND AND AND I found a higher bit rate of the History CD with more photos I think.  I also numbered the songs on the non-CD stuff and could have taken out some pops from the two seven incher rips I had gotten from Isksp blog but wanted to preserve the pure 7 inch sound with no 'hack job' like I have had to do in the past to some crackly releases with deep gauges.  Purity ya know!

THE INMATES - The Walk 7 79 w First Offence LP 79 w Shot In The Dark LP 80 w Five LP 84

REPOST Request:  Remind me a bit of the great pub rockers, Dr. Feelgood.  Maybe that's why they start off first album first song with a cover of the Standell's "Dirty Water" to remind folks who really influenced who.
Anybody got the back cover shot of the 7 inch?  Misplaced it somewhere and I traded away all the stuff I had of theirs....dang it!!!!

The Innocents - st LP 82

REPOST Request:  Anybody know about this band?

COALKITCHEN - Thirsty Or Not...Choose Your Flavor LP 77

REPOST Request:  This is one I had sold back but after getting more and more repost requests I had the clerk play it again for me in the store and quickly snatched it up again after hearing how layered and funky it sounded.

Johnny Rey And The Reaction - More Than I Can Do EP 84

REPOST Request:  From Flamingo and the Flamin' Oh's (Oh's) it is nice to see him gigging again and getting some of the recognition due to him.  They gave the FO singer his own day in Mpls.

THE IDLE STRAND - Blackberry Way LP 85

REPOST Request:  From one of the Big Hit's Midwest compilations.

Virgil Fox Organist - Here Comes The Bride (MCA) w the Editors of the BRIDE'S magazine 2LP 80

Not sure how rare this is but a double album having all the most well known Wedding music, might be kind for foreign to some nowadays in this glory age of divorce, oh well maybe I can use it someday,,,yeah right!

VA - REV 105 Radio Archive 95

This is the Twin Cities longest lasting alternative radio station, however it is now called the Current and run by Paul Westerburg from the Replacements sister Mary.  This is the very first compilation with some big name acts releasing tracks only appearing on this CD! by:  Frank Black, Evan Dando, Arcwelder, Freedy Johnston, The Verve, Semisonic, American Music Club, Ben Harper, Grant Lee Buffalo, Lisa Germano, Dead Hot Workshop, Cows, Soul Coughing, Rev. Horton Heat, They Might Be Giants, Kirsty MacColl, Rex Daisy, Epic Soundtracks, Peter Lack, G. Love And Special Sauce and unfortunately was not able to capture due to disc rot the track by Spearhead--the hit song from their LP.

Wow what a great soul compilation featuring:  The Staple Singers, Eddie Floyd, Carla Thomas, Rufus Thomas, The Bar-Kays, Albert King, The Soul Children and Isaac Hayes.
