Still surviving….

Tue, 17 May 2011 05:27:06 +0000

but barely. We somehow continue to survive, and it’s still paradise in some ways. Time to start writing about it a bit more. This has been a very hard road we’ve been on, but we’re still carrying on….

Renewal…

I’ve decided to change the theme of the blog slightly. It’s still about my life as a housewife, but I’m also going to talk about being a caretaker to my husband, who is battling chronic pain. My husband came up with the phrase “survival in paradise.” It accurately describes our situation. We live in a […]

Been doing the caretaker thing for my husband, who has some health issues. I didn’t expect to do this after 9 years of marriage. I thought I had 20 years before I’d have to go through this. Tough sometimes, but it’s all a part of what I signed up for when I got married.

Solar Power on a Shoestring

Wed, 20 May 2009 17:50:09 +0000

(or, “Gee, it’s great being married to a nerd!”) This is our first attempt at a small scale solar power system. We can use this to power things like our computers, lights, the TV, and the stereo. You can also use this as a car battery charger, if your car battery dies and the electricity’s […]

My neighbor has some beautiful lilacs, and she brought me some cuttings. I put them in 3 different places, and we’ll see if they decide to grow. 🙂 The Spring Ant Wars have been a bit easier this year. I do a lot more spraying when there’s an invasion than I used to. I know […]
