Manicured Noise's Stephanie Nuttal was a founder member of Argentinian exquisite band "Sumo". At the time Manchester scene started to fall, at the end of the 70s, Nuttal abandoned Manicured Noise to move to London. In the city, she shared an appartment with a friend, Linda, and Linda's boyfriend, Luca Prodan. Prodan, an Italian educated at Scotish private school Gordonstown. At that time, Prodan was living in London working in a security company and sharing time with an Argentinian fomer schoolmate and friend, Timmy McKern.
Nutal and Prodan became closed friends. Prodan moved to Argentina trying to leave his addiction to heroine. There, he decided to create a rock band and went back to London to sell his woods before launching it in Buenos Aires. That was the moment in which he invited Nuttal to join his project.
Nuttal arrived to Buenos Aires on October, 13th, 1981 after a long flight with stops in The Nederlands, Portugal and Brazil.
They spent some days in McKern's house in Hurlingham, a British neighborhood close to Buenos Aires, and then moved to Nono, a small town in the province of Cordoba.
In that place they all created Sumo, a punk-reggae-rock band that revolutioned Argentina's scene. Prodan was the leading voice and Nuttal the drummer and the band was formed also with Argentinians Alejandro Sokol (Bass) and German Daffunchio (guitar).
Urged by her parents, Nuttal retourned to England in 1982, few days after Argentinian military government decided to invade Malvinas/Falkland Islands, then under British control.
