Been awhile but been busy!

No posts since April... WTF! Well rest assured I've not put down my pen. I'm back at it and plan to keep posting more regularly (as long as there's no unfortunate happenings).

Various Pin-ups

Job Page Zero, 1,2,3

(image) Blank instert (?) Pg. 1: Owl snoozes as Job and Wife scurry below.
(image) Pg 2, Panel 1-3: Your first three panels. Panel 4: Owl swoops in ( maybe stylized blk/white) mouse scurry).

Pg 3: Job and Wife cower as they narrowly escape the owl. Panel 3-5 Job and Wife escape the traps. Panel 6-7: Mice enter halway only to hear Francis grunbling.

(image) Found this image that I made on the eve of our ski vacation to Stowe.
Paully is the illest and chillest!!!

Angles Yo!

(image) An abstract I did this afternoon... I think it describes my brain... whatever that means :-p

HAPPY 1ST Fayina!!!

(image) Our neice Fayina had her first birthday on 3/20/2009! Leave to me to find some way to squeeze in a tit in a 1-year-olds birthday card. Hehe. I'm sure it'll get laughs from mom Olga and Dad Ryan!

Ain't posted in a while... this is what I been doin!

(image) Here's my green Worksman folding bike that has weathered a long winter folded up up under the stairs behind it. He's a rusty bitch!
(image) Here's both Tati's and my bikes in the process of being stripped and painted.

(image) Here he is after sanding, cleaning and painting. It looks really sweet now! There is a little bit of detailing left. I also would like to sand down and repaint the body at some point. It started raining when I was finishing up so I've yet to finish Tati's bike. We gonna look like bicycling pimps yo!

Jobby Job

(image) A quick one of Job.

Job part 1: Thumbs version 2

(image) Here's a more legible version of the first few pages from Job. It's all really the same with a few exceptions. Not quite sure about the first few panels on pg 1.
(image) Tightened pace.

(image) Mostly the same.

(image) The notes say it all. Anywho... We'll see what happens next as far as pencils go. Can't wait!

Job and his Wife

(image) a quick lil study on Job and his wife.

Job Thumbs part 2

(image) That evening, after the birth of Job's children, he holds his first born and relishes in the prospect of a comfortable and joyous future at the office with his family and their new diety.
(image) Job's speech continues. And lays his eldest to rest.

(image) Job then wanders off to create his idol. The next morning Francis makes his way into work and notices something near his desk... a strange figure "nibbled" into the shape of a man, and Francis just might know who the artist is. The last page is really just a place-holder, but really needs to be a sort of "!" moment. So we'll see.
So that pretty much completes the thumbs for the first Job min-comic. Let me know what ya'll think.

(image) I drew this twinkie this morning... mmmm twinkies!

Job Chapter 1 Thumbnails

Here's the first thumbs for JOB. Some may be indecipherable Enjoy!
(image) Job and his wife make their way into the building and past the traps. Francis gets agitated and breaks his pencil. He slouches, grumbling to himself, and then stands up and stretches. Job and his wife make their way into the kitchen and under the vending machine.
(image) F grumbles and counts his change then punches in the code for Twinkies. The machine dispenses. J + W look on.

(image) F fumbles the Twinkies and it drops. The package slaps on the floor and a loose twinkie bounces... landing right in front of J+W. Surprise!

(image) F says hello. Mice look on and F picks up the still packaged twinkie. He tries to calm the mice. F backs out of the room and turns back to find the mice and the twinkie have vanished!

Job comes along.

(image) I've started work on the thumbnails for the first Job mini... more on those later. Here's a sketch of Job though!

(image) NUFF SAID!

The story of Job begins!

(image) So my fellow Center for Cartoon Studies alumn Mario Van Buren has been here in Boston, allowing us precious time to iron out the specifics for the Job book. Things have been going really well, and I know the book is gonna knock it outta the park. We'll keep you posted!

(image) Just goofing around with the paints in ArtRage. If it's not obvious, I'm still learning lil-by-lil the ins and outs of this whole tablet thing. It's like having an art store at your fingertips. It's also like taking art class all over again. I don't/haven't really messed around with color too much in my art life... to stressful and costly. It's great to be able to just fuck around and try different things... not that I couldn't anyway. Lord knows how many art supplies I've got around here!

Job the mouse

(image) Job notices the traps are missing.

(image) The boy continues forward in another chalk sketch in ArtRage. So... fuckin... fun!

my setup

(image) A quick (and bad ) photo of my setup. The Cintiq is the coolest thing since sliced bread!!! I'd like to point out the PS3, Wii, and 360. Sweet!

(image) A quick conte Petal in ArtRage. I'm am totally finding a new path, thanks to the Cinitq. Worth every penny!!!

Portrail of Pistil

(image) This a chalk image in ArtRage of Pistil from my story The Petal Files. Also the Cintiq feels more and more like real media the more I use it!

Paulie the burnout and Slips

(image) A charcoal sketch of Paulie-the-burnout-seagull and his pal Slips. Done in ArtRage.
