Still eating

Just a quick note since I don't even know if anybody ever checks this blog out. I am doing ok, busier than ever, with two grandsons, two dogs and a horse, I don't have much free time to blog. I have gained a few pounds and have been struggling with the uncomfortable feeling I have in my clothes. Although I work hard at the stable every day 5 days a week, I still love my food and still can't seem to order the 'small' portion of anything when I go out to eat. I am working on it, but I am not sure what it will take to get me to eat healthy all of the time and eat less. I have checked in on several of my old blogging friends and you all seem to be doing good. Send your positive vibes my way please so that I may keep a healthy lifestyle .

A few pounds down

Finally after a few weeks of talking about it, I am eating healthier and I have dropped a few pounds. I know I can keep this up.

Flu bug hits

Well My food choices have been excellent for the past two days, as I have not eaten much do to a flu bug! I am feeling much better today, however their is a flu symptom that is still hanging on so I still do not feel hungry.

A friend of mine called and we are going to start walking together next week (Monday) after she gets this busy weekend over for her and I should be completely better by then.

Tomorrow is Mother's Day, I hope all of you mother's have a great day. I will hit the road as soon as I wake up for a two hour drive to see my mom.

I am hoping to see big improvements in my eating and exercise habits during this next week!



Part 2

I am now back on blood thinners, which causes me to have a GI bleed a few years back, so a closer eye will be kept on that.

So where does my problem lie now? It's with my food choices and the amount of food I eat. I know what I need to do, but I need to convince myself that this is a must do.

I have good intentions every day but I am easily swayed. Yesterday I was doing great until last night when a friend suggested a milk shake from sonic. Then as we passed taco gringo he asked that I pull in so he could take home some dinner. My intentions were and my comment was "sure, but I am not getting anything." But I ended up ordering a sancho deluxe.

Today is a new day, I hope I have the power to make those necessary choices to remain on that healthy path. God help me !

I love my food - heart cath

I will post this in 2 parts, this is part one.
I love my food. After many many months (way to long) away from Blog land, I come back weighing in at 190 pounds and still 15-20 pounds overweight.
Although I have remained very active during the last 9 months since I retired from my state job, I still suffer from eating to much. I went from working 7.5 hour days at my old job, to working 10 hour days 5 days a week, managing a stable with 50 horses. I certainly have enjoyed my job at the stable as horses are my passion, however the last month or so I was beginning to stress out a bit. I really think the 10 hour days were getting to me.
It was a Sunday morning when I started having the cheat pains and the pain in my left arm. I took an aspirin and some nitro. The pain eased a bit, but didn't seem to go away. I hopped in my truck and headed to the emergency room.
A few hours, a nitro drip Iv, an echo, blood work and a heart cath determined that I did not have a heart attack. Thank God!
What we did discover was that my stent which was put in back in 2005 is 40% blocked and two other arteries have about 30% blockage. This is not to bad except that eventually something will have to be done with that stent. When stents start to get blocked, they also can cause clotting. The cardiac doctor said they are doing a procedure in Europe that would be ideal to be performed on my stent once the FDA approves the procedure for use here in the US. My stent is in the LAD artery which cardiologists call the 'widow maker' therefore we need to keep a close eye on it. A change was also made in my medications.

Hello again

Retirement.... After 9 months of retiring from my state job, working my but off at a stable for 6 months, I have now decided to relax a bit and enjoy this retirement. But it is not an easy task for me. I hope to get back into bike riding and continue with riding horses, walking and enjoying my grandsons pictured below!

Another notch

I just had to tighten the old belt another notch. I recently started wearing a fitbit one to see how much walking I do at the stable. I average 24,000-26,000 steps and it says I walk 10-11 miles per day!!! I do know that I am on my feet and moving from 7 AM to 5 PM 5 days a week and I am pretty exhausted when I get home each evening. I am losing some of this body fat!!! Yea!!!

A new notch on the belt

Since I have been working at the stable and I am on my feet all the time, I have noticed that my jeans are not tight anymore and I am now using a new notch on my belt. I have not stepped on a scale nor have I been counting calories or points or anything else. I am trying to eat healthy but sometimes my lunch choices(eating lunch with other barn staff) are not the best.

I'm hoping to see continued improvement on my choices and on my waist.

Just a quick note to let you know I am still alive. Since I retired from my state job, I started working at a stable. Working more hours now then I was before, but I totally enjoy it. Getting so much more exercise than when I was at my desk job. Hope your all doing ok.

I am still alive

Just a quick update to let you all know I am still alive. I have still been struggling to live a healthy lifestyle, still carrying an extra 20 pounds around my waist, but still trying to do something about it.

As of August 1st, I am officially retired from my job. I am looking forward to this next chapter in my life. Maybe I will have more time to blog and read blogs.

Monday and today

I completed another 30 minutes of keeping my heart rate around 145 on the treadmill doing an uphill walk on Sunday, and this morning I completed a 30 minute walk/jog on the treadmill.

Eating has been real good, eating healthy whole unprocessed foods. This is week 2 of actually eating more than I have for quite some time. I didn't exercise last week, but so far, I am 3 for 3 so far this week.

Since I lost 1.2 pounds last week with no exercise, I am hoping that if I continue to exercise, and eat this way I will lose more of this body fat.

Wow, I actually got on that treadmill this morning. I completed a 40 minute uphill walk and kept my heart rate around 145 for 30 minutes of the walk... Can I keep this up ?????



It's working

My new eating plan consists of eating more food, healthy natural food. Yes, no matter how I have been trying to lose weight, I always end up eating less and less and get no where. Once again a good friend of mine told me that I had to eat more. So I started eating more and eating unprocessed foods and it is working. I am eating four meals a day right now.

I lost 1.2 pounds this past week. I am eating eggs, egg whites, chicken, venison, tuna,  green beans broccoli, yogurt, romaine, spinach, blueberries, bake potato's, quinoa etc etc.

I ate one meal out this past week and I intended on eating a nice salad, but ended up eating 6 wings, some pulled pork and Italian sausage with peppers..... thats not to bad, considering it was all you could eat wings, but I only had the 6, and it came with a build you own horseshoe bar......

For those of you that don't know what a horseshoe is....central illinois is know for their horseshoes, they consist of 2 pieces of texas toast, topped with your favorite meat(hamburgers, pork, etc) then topped with fries and cheese sauce.

So I think i did pretty good considering..... this weekend will be a challenge as I will be out and about with friends.. but I know what I need to do...

I have been so busy at work, that I have been computered out by the end of the day, so I havn't been on to read your blogs, hope to catch up later today or in the morning.

No spare time

Wow, 2012 really has been a busy, busy year. Here it is February already.  We have a lot of major projects going on at work and that is keeping me very busy.

Like most areas here in the US, we have had a very mild winter so far this year... A high of about 58 yesterday, on Feb 3rd is pretty much unheard of. we have only had an or two of snow and it melted quickly. I know that winter is not over yet, but I am enjoying the milder temperatures.

I was in Chicago for work for the past few days, so eating out and where it was convenient, doesn't always give you the best choices. But I am back home and eating healthier today.  But a little frustrated with this whole weight think... The main think for me right now is that  I just want to fit in my clothes comfortably, and not be buying bigger clothes. And I know that eating healthy and exercising is what is going to make that happen... so why don't I do it ?

I hope to spend some time reading and catching up on blogs this weekend.

I am starting with a new nutrition plan, need to incorporate an exercise plan as well, as much as I have been struggling, I refuse to give up, stepped on the scale at somewhere between 190 and 190.9 this morning, was so happy to see the first 3 digits of 190 that I didn't even look at the rest LOL

Struggling here

I am really struggling with the exercise thing. I am not sure why I can't get in a daily exercise routine. Work is stressful, life is busy, but I know that exercise will help with that.

I seem to be eating healthy food, but I seem to want to graze all day long. It is suppose to be around 45 to 50 degrees today. I hope to get a good 2-3 mile walk in and enjoy the fresh air.

I have not been in blogland for quite some time, so I am going to try and catch up on a few blogs this morning before as I am waiting on it to lighten up outside and get a little warmer... then it's off for that walk.

Sunday, Monday

The morning started off good, with 2 pieces of center cut bacon, egg beaters and a piece of 2% cheese product.

Lunch was healthy as well, eating a ham, turkey and cheese wrap, using a La Tortilla whole wheat wrap with a little miracle whip light, then came dinner.

I went out for dinner and I feel I could have and should have made better choices. I ate at Baker's Square, where I had a Cuban flatbread sandwich, along with a salad and a cup of potato bacon soup. Way to much food in my opinion, I should have skipped the soup, but I didn't.

And then I couldn't convince myself that I wasn't hungry around 8:30 P.M. When I devoured a zone perfect bar.

Monday started out good as well,
I had center cut bacon with egg beaters for breakfast.

Lunch was a McDonald's quarter pounder with cheese.(490 calories)

For some reason the rest of the day seems like a blur, but I remember eating a zone bar, a fiber one bar, a handful of pork rinds, a slice of seduction bread with a half of tablespoon of cashew butter.

I hope to do better today!!!!

Busy Busy Busy

It seems the new year has brought on a busy time for me... I am reading a few blogs when I can. Hopefully things will slow down here soon. I am still trying to eat healthy but I am still lacking on the exercise. Hoping to improve on that soon.

We have had such a mild winter here so far... it is 50 degrees out right now, but snow and a cold 24 is in the forecast for tomorrow.

I have some work to do. It appears I gained 7 pounds over the last month.  I know better than to not stick with my plan but I let myself go.  No better time then now to get back on track.

Hi, I am Ron and I am a food-a-holic......... Need I say more?

 I do not buy cookies, chips, candy, sweets or anything of that nature because if it's in my house I will eat until it's gone. One example, Someone at work dropped a 9 oz bag of almond M&M's on chair at work....  I brought them home thinking... ok .. it's Christmas, so I will just eat a few of them everyday as a treat .... I ate the whole bag in one sitting.  Another  person brought over a big tray of cookies and home made candy. I proceeded to eat about 1/4 of that tray before giving it away. I havn't even mentioned the invites to parties and meals out during the holiday season.

So tomorrow morning I will step on that scale and see how much damage has been done. I do know the dress pants and shirt were a little tight today. But I know what to do to fix the situation... I do want to get rid of this body fat.

So as I end 2011 on the road to recovery, I hope to make those healthy choices over the last few days of 2011 and start my 2012 off on the right foot.

Speaking of 2012, 2012 is the year I have been waiting for since I turned 16 years old and got my first  job(this is not counting mowing lawns and delivering papers in the years prior to turning age 16). 2012 is the year that I will become eligible to retire from my current job.  Will I ???  July 31 could be my last day of work in my current job.  I am sure I will keep you informed as I weigh my options, it's a big decision that I will be contemplating over the next 7 months.

I hope you all have a peaceful end to your 2011 and look forward to your successes in 2012.

Wow, how time is flying, I am in the process of getting my Christmas shopping done and trying to eat healthy while doing so.  Work has been busy and by the end of the day, I don't seem to have the time or energy to check out any blogs. I am going to try and read a few right now. 

I hope that if your as busy as I have been, that you are keeping healthy while doing so. I am not doing bad, but as always there is always lots of room for improvement. 

Here is to a  HHH(Happy Healthy Holiday) season.
